long lasting relaible – for a budget grinder for stove top or french press its a great machine. Show details
I realise this model is no longer available, but I would be loath to let it go – I have a Delonghi Coffee Grinder completely faultless, but I have mislaid the small plastic catching device. The Model is K G 100. Can somebody tell me if I can find a replacement. Show details
Pro quality grind at a domestic appliance price – I've owned the Swiss-made KG100 for more than 10 years. I chose it based on reviews of the Saeco branded variant in the US. As soon as I bought it I followed instructions on the internet on pulling it apart and setting the grind a notch or two finer than is possible out of the box. The result is a consistent grind and very nice golden topped… Read more
espresso through a manual la Pavoni machine.
I used a Rancilio Rocky doserless grinder for six months when I was working away from home and believe that the KG100 does as good a job, and it is less messy, smaller and much better value.
It is worth noting that the box that catches the grinds vibrates out of position if you are grinding more than a shot's worth of coffee. I just put my knock box in front of it to stop that happening.
The other issue is that very fresh beans cause it to labour a little. I can't say if this due to insufficient torque, wear on the burrs driving power consumption, or the motor getting tired after so many years of use. It has ground out around 12,000 coffees so far. Logic says the burrs might need to be replaced but the coffee is still terrific.
Durability – We initially bought a coffee grinder and it lasted only a few weeks passed the warranty period, so we bought another one, which also lasted about the same time. This time the company had it repaired and you guessed it, almost 12 months later it died again. We contacted the company and they could not help us because it is outside the warranty… Read more
period. Well for what it's worth we will never buy this product again and hope that this review helps others. For the price you pay you would expect it to last longer than 12 months especially for a product that is not constantly used.

Great grinder! – We have used ours probably every second day (sometimes daily), for the past few years. Actually the number of years could be close to 9 by now... ! Doesn't miss a beat, this was a great purchase, definitely recommend. We use ours with a Saeco Via Venezia coffee machine.
Still going strong – It's nearly two years since my review and my DeLonghi is still doing a great job. I have needed to adjust the factory setting again (due to a bit of wear) to maintain the fine grind needed for my Breville BES900 (itself a FANTASTIC espresso machine). Considering I use it daily, often several times, it has proven to be very cost effective. The… Read more
finer grind positions are no longer secure and needs to be held during grinding or it might vibrate off position; not a major concern for me. As my model is 4 years old, I can't comment on the latest version. It still produces a better grind than any supermarket coffee. Probably not suitable for Greek/Turkish grind, though I haven't tried that yet. Value for money, compact, robust, reliable, consistent grind. Bit noisy, coffee shute clogs up a bit (though never completely), difficult to thoroughly clean.
DeLonghi KG100 – I have used the KG100 since May 2006 and apart from the noise, found it to be a good solid performer. When used different source of coffee beans I that it could not grind fine enough to suit our Sunbeam EM6900 Espresso Machine. I found that some coffee beans created static electricity and was difficult to clean off, this also caused a fair amount… Read more
of deposit inside the grinder when I dismantled it to adjust the grind. There is also a fair amount of free play (up and down) to the center burr which stops me from moving the adjustment another notch closer. To be attended to at a later date.
The Sunbeam EM6900 has a pressure gauge and I have been surprised to find that with the same setting on the grinder, the pressure can vary a great degree depending on the beans being used. In extreme cases it has been impossible to get any 'creme' expressed, whereas our regular coffee beans always produce pressure and crema. Consistent results and perfomed well, so far for over 6 years. Somewhat noisy and not sufficiently fine grind for esspresso.
The perfect grind !! – We have had this grinder for about 4 years now. We have been using it almost everyday. It has been well worth the money and never faulted. We have ground beans with it for our coffee machine, plunger and for the Caffettiera Espresso Jug and have therefore used the various grind settings. We are very satisfied with the quality of the grind… Read more
produced.
We grind beans to take away on holiday, in an airtight container and find the large bowl for beans and large cup to catch the ground coffee, very handy, in this instance, when you are grinding a larger amount at once. The DeLonghi also does not skip a beat, in the above repeated grinding situation.
We upgraded to this grinder, as it was recommended to us, from a friend who had one. We have since bought it, to give as a gift. I hear that both these grinders, are still going strong as well.
Unlike our last grinder, the DeLonghi does not "labour" when grinding and the ground coffee does not get stuck in the catching cup or compacted.
It is smooth and effortless! Reliable. Smooth operation. Large "cup" to catch the ground coffee. Large "bowl" on top for beans.
Good Burr Grinder But With One Limitation – I've had a DeLonghi KG100 Grinder for a while. Its a solid, well-built and reliable burr grinder for this price range, that grinds coffee beans reasonably evenly. It does however have one severe limitation. In the time I have had it, it has never been able to grind coffee finely though to use in an expresso machine that uses a… Read more
non-pressurised filter (ie a single walled filter).
I had to buy another grinder to use with my expresso machine.
If you are using a plunger (french-press), or an expresso machine with a pressurised filter, this grinder should be fine. I can only give it 3 stars though because - if you are paying around $130 for it - there is probably better value out there, especially if you can pay a little more (eg Breville BCG800). Solid, well built and reliable Unable to produce fine grind (expresso)
Perfect grind every time – I have had this for about 4 years and it is going strong. It came with my espresso machine and I am so glad it did. My previous grinder was a Bodum one and it never ground my beans fine enough. The KG100 has many more adjustments and grinds as fine as I need. Very fine grind, has lasted a long time, consistent grind The plastic hopper chips easily and mine is broke, but motor still grinds perfect
Seccond time unlucky – My first KG100 was reasonably reliable and lasted about three years until it stopped grinding altogether (the motor still worked - but nothing came through). So I bought another one - this has lasted exactly 10 months and the same thing has happened. I will return this under warranty but I suspect delonghi might be cutting some corners. I won't… Read more
buy another one of these. If you are serious about coffee, it might pay to visit your local coffee supplier to get a recommendation for something else.
Failed within the warranty period
The KG 100 SIMPLY WORKS! – KG 100 time will tell how long it lasts, my understanding is the internal electric motor and grinder are from Europe and go the distance. It is assembled in China like most products currently, it's build quality seems good and it has operated for two months flawlessly. Easy to clean with a small footprint and that counts for a lot in a kitchen.… Read more · 1
Aesthetically I was skeptical about the look, but on reflection and away from the other machines with all the electronics, it looks very well designed.
This is my first experience with DeLonghi and the purchase was via recommendation of a Barista with many years experience. As I said time will tell, and so far it is great. We all want to make coffee quickly, efficiently and with a good quality grind. The KG100 works well. I find the simplicity is it's key feature.
Good – A replacement grinder for a similarly priced machine that only lasted a couple of months. This machine has been grinding away every day now for three years without a problem. It has a metal grinding burr which usually only comes with more expensive machines. Finest grind setting not quite fine enough for espresso but still an impessive little… Read more
machine.
One point off for the grind setting. Good quality, moderately priced (around $150) grinder. Metal grinding burr a plus and hard to find in this price range grinder. Reliable. Could grind a little finer.

Know better, choose better.
OK – The KG100 is a Solis 166, and is also apparently sold as a Starbucks. After a few years ownership, and having a basic domestic espresso machine, I upgraded to a Sunbeam EM6910, that while still a home machine is a significantly higher standard, and the KG100 struggles. When the timer sticks, it overfills the hopper - a bit of a mess. It is not… Read more
a bad grinder unless you have an EM6910 or better, which would include the Gaggia Classic. If your espresso machine uses pressurised filters you will love this, but if it does not, this is not the one you want. It works OK, reasonably easy to clean. Does not grind quite fine enough for a better espresso machine, the timer sometimes sticks.
Excellent – Im glad i didnt listen to all the reviews that bag this machine my coffee has never tasted better and it is still going strong Good price and great size for the benchtop.nearly didnt buy this machine as i heard that it didnt grind fine enough, but thought what the hey!i only have a cafe roma with pressurised filters so should work fine.It has 13… Read more
different grind settings started at 1 being the finest and blocked my machine. It is now sitting at 9 and is grinding perfectly for my machine and still have plenty of give for diff types of beans.I found that on its finest grind it was as fine as my local coffee shop would grind which is why this was no good for my machine.Great machine get one!
Good – I would recommend this to anyone, just be careful with the timer - it's a bit dodgy. I just turn it on and off at the wall. Price. Grinds finely enough for our espresso machine (sunbeam Cafe Crema). Not very loud. Looks a bit cheap. Timer broke after 3rd use.
Good – My rating would have been 4 1/2! Been a great workhorse for about 18 months. No timer issues, in fact works great. Fresh beans and a good grinder are corner stones for great coffee. Reliable Great grind Collection tray can slide out slowly when grinding for a while. Very small issue.
Bad – As per the comments in other reviews this has made me think twice about purchasing the KG100 unit. Delonghi need to fix this fault The reason I looked at the Delonghi grinder was that its circular cutter for grinding looked liked it would grind coffee beans without much any problem checked out this grinder at three stores. All of the DeLonghi grinders on display had broken timer/on off switch.
Good value reliable machine – I purchased the KG100 based on a Choice review and other reviews that classified it as a very good low end machine. I wanted something that gave a consistent grind size that would be small enough for a Sunbeam EM5600 coffee maker which uses a pressurised filter. It does an excellent job. I have read comments about it being noisy, messy and the… Read more · 1
timer knob being flimsy. It is quieter than many other grinders I have heard, it does not vibrate, it is very clean and I can’t imagine how you can break the timer knob unless you force it in the wrong direction. I have heard that the grind may not be fine enough for the more expensive non pressurised machines. I can’t comment on that but it works very well with the EM5600. Neat and pd produces a consistent grind. Value.
Faultless performance - used every day! – Well made, attractive looking, easily adjusted to grind to perfection and simple to use. Quality finishes with excellent engineering makes it easy to clean. I have used it every day since purchase on 30 May 2011. It is a pleasure to use and it looks like it will give trouble-free service for many years to come. I bought it online from Big-W for a great price too. great grinding performance, easily cleaned, solid and reliable
Awesome performance, Like it a lot and bought it without regret – Bought it from eBay with 36 dollar. First time saw it in Big W and find out the timer is been broken so I was a bit worry when I bid on this model, but the worry gone when I got this little monster back and try it out. The machine is not that loud from most of the review and this machine is been working for the previous owner for more than 1 year… Read more
and it still kicking strong the previous owner told me that he make coffee with this model every morning the reason he give up is because his espresso machine broken and bought him self an auto espresso machine because of his busy life style, I guess i am really lucky. Reliable, easy to clean, it grind finer than the place where I bought my coffee beans Timer button a bit fragile but not a big issue (It survive more than a year), just be careful and it will be fine
Paid a little bit more but worth every cent - almost perfect – Use this little grinder everyday & although I agree that the ground coffee container does sometimes move out a little - it doesn't actually spill coffee everywhere for me, as mentioned in another review. Has the ability to grind beans from very coarse to very fine. Easy to wash & clean. I love this little grinder & wholeheartedly recommend it! Has… Read more
been going strong everyday for 6+ years without a hitch. Extremely reliable, comparatively inexpensive when reliability taken into consideration
Terrible – I hate this grinder, wish I'd have bought the cheaper model which worked better. I spoke to DeLonghi about this when I bought it and got NO satisfaction This grinder vibrates too much and ground coffee just spills out all over the bench.
