I was disappointed with the service and the Seller was trying to tell me that if I don't spend $150 to clean the guitar then the child will be in hospital next week! the guitar was just dusty and was on top of the wardrobe for a decade! cash to buy it, I was playing it and a staffer walks past and tells me it's over 5 grand, I hadn't even asked, he just volunteered this piece of information to me. Online price was around 3.2K, ticket price something else again. I walked out and bought a different Martin somewhere else. It's amazing how consistent the experience has been all this time, customers are just an inconvenience to these guys. It was much the same back in the hire shop, and in the city store when I once went there too.

enquiry into Derringers about the model and queried whether the guitar was brand new or not. Sales Consultant Andreas kindly got back to me via email to confirm there was one brand new in the box and to get back to him if I wished to continue purchase via his direct line for 'speedy transaction' & 'shipping priority'.
After two weeks of thinking about it, I spotted the big baby taylor model was now on sale and thought it was a sign to purchase it.
Still slightly hesitant, I rang Andreas on his direct line (which he provided me in my first email) to commence purchase. I wanted to double check again that the guitar was brand new in the box AND had the same features as advertised in the picture. Andreas kindly said he would open the box to check it all out and give me a call back. Andreas rang me back later that morning to confirm they had a brand new big baby taylor with a black headstock and red pick guard, as I asked, as advertised, and I paid over the phone.
Unfortunately the guitar that arrived was a completely different specification than the advertised picture on Derringers Music website. (see pictures attached). Brown headstock/brown pick guard. Again, not as advertised, or as Andreas confirmed.
I immediately rang Derringers office and spoke to Elaine who kindly put me through to Andreas. Andreas said that he thought I had requested the 'tortoise shell pick guard model' that is very clearly brown rather than the very obvious red textured pick guard that is advertised and also failed to remember my request to confirm if the headstock was black.
Regardless if I had requested further information/clarification, it was completely the WRONG model advertised. Andreas said that they have 15,000 items advertised on their website and they had obviously made an error advertising this guitar model..the wrong model in my case..
I was offered a refund and collection the following day, but I decided it was still a lovely guitar for a good price and to keep it. I can't fault the delivery time as it was very efficient. However, its simply not good enough and I would advise future customers do be wary or to be very VERY thorough in their enquiry before purchase.
Not how I envisioned my first purchase of a Taylor guitar and I wouldn't mind, but I am quite catious when making large purchases online, hence why I reached out twice (email & phonecall) for clarification before purchasing.
A long review but hopefully helpful for someone like me who tends to read company reviews before using them.
Opened guitar box – Before ordering, the online shop told me the gig set was brand new and the box had not been opened. I asked about this specifically as some shops may sell displayed products at lower prices. However, when it was delivered, I found the box of the gig set had been opened by someone before shipment. The guitar tuner provided always has great difficulties in tuning low E.

Best Price – I've bought a number of items both instore and online over the years and can't fault the level of service, pricing and range of products. Andreas has been excellent to deal with and he has been accommodating when purchasing online and allowing me to pay in instalments.

Avoid Derringers at all costs – I wish I had read the other reviews before buying from Derringers. I bought a $1400 Fender Telecaster. Should have saved my money and bought a second-hand Squier instead. The neck on the guitar is unplayable. No quality control and the warranty/returns process is a joke. Do not waste your time or money with this lot. Avoid!

staff there tested the mic with their mobile and confirmed the same issue. They then proceeded to say it would be a "warranty" claim where they would have to call Rode to see what to do next. I was really unhappy about this, as technically speaking, under Australian consumer law I'm entitled to a full refund or exchange if the product never worked to start with.. I simply just wanted a product that would work from the moment I purchased it! I then asked to talk to the manager, and while the staff member went to get the manager, I connected the device to my laptop to see if it would do the same issue, I did more diagnosis and did a firmware upgrade.. which suddenly made it work. Another staff member, upon noticing started to give me awful remarks, saying "just get out of here, we don't need your business, you owe us an apology, loser".
Let's assume I was wrong.. does this really warrant the store to call their customer a loser??!
The manager eventually came and I explained what had happened.. he was pretty calm but even after I had explained what had happened, I didn't get a single apology.. and he was in denial that his staff member called me a loser. I simply told him to check the security camera footage, if he didn't believe me.
I felt humiliated and I will never go back there again. What an awful experience!

Online Advertised Price not Honoured – It's happened twice now where products have been advertised online at a certain price and upon calling the store I've been told "It's a mistake. someone about the "Price Challenge" but not only did they refuse to beat the price, they didn't even match the price. The item was being sold for $20 less at another store which could also post the item without charge so I bought from them instead. The excuse Derringers gave was that they only had two of the items in stock and they were confident of being able to sell it at their advertised price. So in other words, they wont honour their "commitment to you at Derringers Music" because they are sure some other sucker will pay full price for it.
I've purchased musical goods from other stores in Adelaide and I shop around plenty. Derringers are consistently more expensive on most of the items I have looked at, so they are at least correct in saying "We never sell for retail!" - They sell above retail!
