Ordered a OSFM nappy and it looks like a newborn nappy . Doesn’t fit average sized 14 month old who fits nappies from several other MCN companies . Customer support was dreadful . Show details

These nappies disintegrate – I used a combination of Designer Bums, Econaps, and My Little Gumnut nappies for my baby. After 8 months of use the Designer Bums ones disintegrated, yet the other brands are in perfect condition. I followed the washing instructions on their website, except for using less detergent than is recommended on the pack, as a full dose of detergent… Read more

causes suds issues in my machine. The after sales support wasn’t helpful, and apart from admitting their nappies aren’t as robust due to the materials used, they more or less said the issues were my fault. I feel I’ve wasted my money and wouldn’t recommend Designer Bums to anyone.

Best products, customer service and designs EVER! – I am OBSESSED with Designer Bums! I have used almost every product of theirs over the years and cannot speak highly enough about them. Mini, regular and XL wetbags are all fabulous for travelling/camping/shopping (and reusable wrapping paper!), the new large picnic blankets cover the entire inside of my large SUV which protects the interior from… Read more

animal fur and dirt, the cloth wipes are the prettiest and most functional face washers ever, the variety of cloth pads means there is one for every occasion, THE BEDDING (my god) - so gorgeous and luxurious against the skin... That's just a fraction of my experience, and apart from the lovely hand-illustrated designs and ethical sourcing, the customer service is impeccable and second to none! Carla is just so nice, helpful, knowledgable and innovative so it's always a pleasure to support this small business so they can keep bringing us more and more products and designs!

Good for newborns – Can be bought at selected Woolworths which is great for those wanting to try or stock up on more and not wait for delivery . I ordered mine online, the delivery was slow. At first I really liked this brand, they are great, popular with over the top designs; but something I noticed is that the shell size is quiet small and for unknown reason my… Read more

son would break out in a rash even after following the wash instructions correctly and regular changes. There has been a few times where he has leaked through this brand too. The material (inserts and boosters) isn’t as soft as I expected.

these nappies are better suited for newborns to 2yo if you are into over the top / fun designs, smaller shells, smaller insets, popular brand then I guess this is the brand for you.

Wouldn’t recommend them if you have a larger/older toddler, wanting simple designs, and want soft quality.

Every child is different it’s all about trial and error and unfortunately for us, designer bums was an error and it doesn’t hurt to try at least one nappy before investing in more. I’m just thankful for us, we didn’t invest in more.

You get invited to a private Designer Bums Facebook Group after purchase.

Love our Designer Bums – I recently started using Designer Bums cloth nappies for my little one and am a cloth convert! It took a few goes to get the fit right, but now I find them so easy to use, and the beautiful prints make washing days so much more enjoyable. The quality is great & love that we are helping the environment with every use. Shipping was super fast.

Designer Bums Please – I recently purchased a few products for myself and as gifts from the latest release ie swaddles, nappies and wet bags. I especially love the designs and the quality is great. My friend also really appreciated the items I got for her little boy. Wonderful products! Show details

Not just an amazing nappy brand! – I have recently purchased from the Designer Bums new Heirloom collection and WOW! These products are such great quality! Even if you don't use cloth nappies there are so many other products you can use to suit your families needs, we love the Blankets, Picnic Mats and Play Mats. We use them for park visits or beach days, they are a generous size… Read more

and my girls can alway find where our stuff is after going off to play, the colours and details are exquisite.

I also brought some of the tote bags for grocery shopping and have had so many compliments, even by the cashiers.

Cute designs but nappies aren’t great and neither is their customer service – The designs are cute but… Received faulty item and got the run around from customer service The nappies themselves leave red marks on my baby and the last press stud leaves marks too. With so many readjustments with no improvement I’ve given up on this brand. Show details

Terrible customer service – I purchased some training pants and liners, only to find the liners don't fit with training pants, and that training pants aren't suitable for accidents. They are only for daytime wear for a child who is essentially toilet trained already - so odd! I contacted Designer Bums within 15 minutes of receiving the product and asked to return the items… Read more

(still in original packaging - obviously unworn) and they refused. $70 for two pairs of training pants and non-fitting liners later and I had to throw both out. What a waste. I've never actually come across another online business that doesn't accept unused returns (and that will happily sell two products that don't go together without alerting the customer). I would try elsewhere if you are seeking washable nappies/pants. I've had really positive experience with many other companies.

Does not follow eco ethos! – Designer bums is requesting those who have a defective item to cut it in half and proof before they will consider replacing. They want proof of the destroyed product, this is absolutely absurd! This is against their ethos of being eco friendly and sustainable. Replace or refund without making more waste.

After 3 months…. I gave up – My cloth nappy journey with my baby has been hard. Very hard. The first month, everything was perfect. Using the Designer bums nappies was a breeze. from birth I was able to get a good seal wi the my newborn with no leaks. They were stylish and just looked super cute. As my baby grew in size, obviously her oral intake did too, and slowly the… Read more

nappies became a nuisance. No matter how many times I tried to adjust the nappies, there was never a good seal. Within 1 hour, her clothing would either be soaked in urine or faecal matter. I didn’t mind so much during the day, but what annoyed me was the constant wakes during the night. Same issue, her clothes, blankets and beddings would all be soaked with urine.

The amount of washing I used to do, was ludicrous. Haha. Every second day… literally. And the machine would be full.

No matter how many extra inserts I’d put for ’absorbency’ nothing worked. Instead my poor baby started developing nappy rash. I would interchange between disposable and the reusable nappies every couple of weeks to help with the nappy rash, but at the end , I just decided to stop using reusable all together. Once I did, the rashes disappeared after a 3-4 days. I was super bummed cause I did everything. I followed all the instructions stated on the design bums website and yeah nothing worked. So before you purchase a whole load like I did, please buy like 6 nappies to test out first and make sure that they work for you and your baby.

A wonderful low profile absorbent Nappy – I used Designer Bums as part of a large stash of multiple brand nappies and always reached for my designer bums first. The inserts are super thirsty and saw us through from 6 months to toilet training at 3.5yo. The nappies are super functional and you can add inserts and change the size of the nappy as needed. Show details

Great nappies – Most of our nappies are Designer Bums (mixed with Bare and Boho). Both brands are excellent and wouldn't hesitate to recommend either... I do slightly prefer the Designer Bum nappies as the inserts dry quicker (but somehow just as absorbent) and have worn better in long run. I bought a combination of new and second hand. I initially found in… Read more

researching nappies that there was a lot of choices and different types of nappies and different opinions on how to wash and the 'right' way etc. It all seemed a bit hard to be honest, but Designer Bums were the first ones I used and I did try a few others but I just found these worked best for us. Overall though I do think the whole process of reusable nappies was easier than it initially seemed and I can't recommend reusable nappies and Designer Bums enough.

Designer Bums is the best cloth nappy! – After trialling a few brands on my first bub, I fell in love with Designer Bums nappies due to the easy of use, slim fit and of course all the beautiful prints. You can see and tell from the fabrics they are very good quality and made really well. They have been around for a long time so are a trusted brand and they also have really good resale value which makes them even more appealing. Show details

So absorbent! – We've tried a fair few MCN brands and designer bums wins the absorbency and trim fit combo! Cute designs, great stay dry layer on the insert which makes laying them easy (if you can't be bothered stuffing like me). The elastics are tight to catch poos, so I do get some red marks, but they fade quickly, so no worries there! Only drawbacks are… Read more

Too trim – The prints are beautiful and the fabric/make is sturdy. They're too small, 6mo leaking every single use, not enough room to boost sufficiently. Spend your money on cheaper and better brands.  Show details

Nice prints not for everyone – Nice prints unfortunately not for heavy wetters or chunky monkeys. Left red deep marks around the thighs. Which isnt normal. Changed brands no more marks. For the same money or less you can get better nappies. Sorry. They aren’t the trimmest nappies on the market either quite chunky and big.  Show details

Lovely modern cloth nappies – Beautiful, Australian hand designed nappies. Ethically made in China. Lovely trim fit. The inserts are thirsty. They are a bit of a small fit though and better suited for smaller/younger babies Show details

Love love love these nappies! – I’ve been using Designerbums for two years now - the stunning prints drew me in, but the quality made me stay! They’re a lovely trim fit, and the inserts are very thirsty. The long anchor can be folded to suit the child’s needs - girls and boys, tummy or back sleepers. They’ve got a pocket for those who like to stuff the inserts, but I prefer to… Read more

lay them on top. Kidlet 2 has been in them since birth, while they also still fit my 2.5 year old beautifully. #2 at 14 months old still manages to last through the night in a regular, unboosted DB - but they’re easy to boost for heavy wetters. I love that they function brilliantly, and look awesome while doing so! Can’t recommend them highly enough - best poo catchers on the market.

Have loved from 6mths to Toilet Training – We have used these on our Bub from 6mths when we first started using cloth until we toilet trained at 3yrs. They were the first brand that I liked the prints and found them really use to use so didn’t try anything else. Show details

Perfect – As with any nappy, MCN or disposable, different brands will suits different babies. Designer Bums suit my two (23 month and 1 month old) perfectly, and I will always recommend. a baby best. Not only are the prints gorgeous, the brand goes above and beyond to be earth and ethically conscious, both with their choice of artists and manufacturers. The online DB community is also incredibly warm and accepting of all. I've had a few 'faulty' products delivered in the past (it is rare), but they have always been fixed/replaced with ease after a quick email to HQ. MCN's aside, the wetbags, changemats and playmats are all staple parts of my everyday routines and are faultless thus far.

XL wet bag faulty – We bought a couple of XL wetbags before bub was born. Started using them recently and after only a handful of uses, one of them broke- the stitching at the end of the zipper failed and the zipper tag came right off. I contacted designer bums, and they said that it could have been my fault. I paid a lot of money for the wetbags, so am pretty disappointed.

Leaks Galore: Only buy if you like changing wet and soiled clothes – Update to original review: Baby has been in cloth nappies for about 9months now. Designer Bums are the only brand of cloth nappies to consistently leak, each and every time. I originally thought it was a fitting issued but Baby has grown and leaks still occur. Annoying when it’s #1; truly awful when it’s #2 (and a poonami at that). Baby’s clothes… Read more

get wet and soiled and if your baby is a wriggler like mine and the nappy doesn’t hold onto her #2 properly... well, let’s just say your washing machine will get more than it bargained for. And if you’re a time poor Mum (and which Mum isn’t?) extra washing, soaking and scrubbing is the last thing you need.

Since Designer Bums are the same price as other top brands of cloth nappies, like EcoNaps and Bubblebubs, I would strongly recommend that you opt for another brand. Yes, the designs are gorgeous and cloth nappies are great for the environment - but other brands also have beautiful designs. And they do exactly what they’re supposed to do, without the inserts warping.

This is my only 1 star review, and that’s really saying something. I’ll be looking into selling my Designer Bums soon.

Original review:

Designer Bums prints are gorgeous, and I can see why they are so popular! I am having trouble getting a good fit on bubs however; she must be in between snap sizes so it may be a matter of waiting a little while. As a result of the fitting issue, I've had leaks (and I haven't had that with other brands of MCNs). Love the wide opening of the pocket. The inserts are good quality and absorbent, but they tend to warp when they come out of the wash, although I wash and hang them up the same as other insert brands. Would also prefer the insert snap buttons to be at the back of the nappy shell instead of the front, to stop inserts from sticking out the back (and thus, greater risk of leakage).

Pros

Gorgeous exclusive designs that are real art pieces

Good customer service

Inserts are absorbent and dry quickly

Convertible nappy: can use as a pocket nappy or All in 2. Pockets are great for wriggly worms like my 8 mo!

Wide opening of pocket

Would prefer snap buttons at the back of the nappy instead of the front

All cloth nappies are better for the environment!

Australian business. Good customer service.

Cons

All the liners have warped in the wash!

Fitting issues can result in leaks

Disappointed – Purchased this product after seeing some of the awards they received. Unfortunately leakage is consistent with these nappies. I spoke with designer bums thinking it was how I was fitting them, but the problem continued. Then I thought maybe my bub was a bit small, now she’s bigger and the problem still continues. Show details

Cheap workmanship and quality control is lacking – The only positive about these nappies is the prints. The stitching looks cheap and not done properly. They don’t live up to the hype that they have. The… Read more

Inserts seem to curl a lot too, my other brands don’t do it. The fit is hard to get and there’s times where they don’t fit my child properly. I do love the prints though, but that’s where it stops.

Dangerously addictive – These are great quality mcns with great absorbency and amazing prints. I have 6 but am going to continue to add these to our stash exclusively over each release. Carla has amazing customer service and the Pop tarts are a great community to be a part of. These nappies are a little fiddly to fit initially but once you get it figured out they are great and extremely trim fit for mcns.
