Rip Off – Brought my dog in to get her nails trimmed, the lady was unable to complete one paw and there were no other staff on to help. We were told that if we came back in another time to get the final paw trimmed that it would cost $5. I just brought her in and was charged $15 for 4 damn nails to be trimmed despite questioning it. $3.75 per nail. Absolute rip off of a place and not to mention; it’s disgusting.

Criminally overpriced and bad at what they do – Holy hell what a rip off $200 to wash 2 dogs Told $45 each over the phone. Areas that were just not brushed at all. Kids don’t look like they want to be there working and the boss is a scam artist.

Never need to go here again – Many years ago I took my standard poodle here about 3 times after attending puppy preschool. Every single time after the first, I was disappointed with the result. hideous straight up front (then shrugging "it will grow back"), as well as quoting $90 at drop off then demanding $150 at pickup for something I showed them at drop off but then claimed I hadn't mentioned, then suggested I should bring her in more often.. So I bought my own clippers and have groomed her myself ever since. Their rudeness and unprofessionalism has saved me $150-200+ every 6 weeks for over 5 years now. I should be grateful! Just before Christmas, I had promised to groom a friend's dog. I hurt my back and remembered that I could access the self wash baths at Dogoverboard. I went in with all my shampoos and etc and was directed to a bath up the back. It was barely off the ground, so I could not reach down to the dog's legs or feet, which was the entire purpose of my visit. The water which is at a set temperature was COLD. When I asked why it was cold when they promise it is warm they said they had turned it down over the heatwave a few days before. I asked if it can be turned up, the girl just shrugged. My poor dog was left shivering while I worked the shampoo and treatment through his coat. It was so cold that the water didn't even wash the fattiness from his coat. It was disgraceful. Sure, it only cost $10, but I would never have tortured a dog like that. Around us, there were staff washers who were using that same cold water, spending barely 10 mins per dog per wash. Most good dog shampoos suggest a 5 min sit time. I saw no sitting, just one dog after the other. Not even time for conditioner. There were various enclosures around the place, with at least 3 labradors sitting, soaking wet on the concrete floor. They were not attended to at all in all the time I was there (2 hours?). To add to the unpleasantness, the building is ridiculously echoey, and some small to medium sized dog was barking the entire time. I never heard anyone say anything to this poor dog, no "it's OK", no "shoosh puppy, you're ok, Mummy will be here soon" nothing. Just incessant barking. It was unpleasant in every possible way. Even the bathing girls avoided so much as a friendly nod from me, let alone to eventually answer about the water temperature. The only one who was at all friendly was the one who took my money. She seemed very nice. She also mentioned that she was just now having her lunch break.. For all the 15year old awards on the walls, this place is entirely unpleasant with overpriced grooming for what I saw. It certainly wasn't deluxe for the dogs. I will never need to bring my dogs near this place again. If you look at their website they suggest that every other groomer is unprofessional, underqualified and a risk to your dog's health and wellbeing. People in glass houses should not throw stones. Such a shame.

You'd be crazy to go anywhere else – I've recently completed puppy preschool at Dog Overboard, as well as 10+ years of sporadic use of their grooming services for various dogs I've owned. overall knowledge of dogs in general, and is very generous with her time and suggestions. Aside from the owner, all staff I have encountered also show a genuine care for the health of the dogs and the happiness of their owners.

My daughter was working at dogoverboard – My daughter was working at dogoverboard at first she was lovely it last couple of weeks her paid got cutback and for 2 weeks she hasn't been paid she said to the boss when she will be getting paid and the boss was so rude told my daughter to get back to work and you will get paid when you get paid but she hasn't been paid for 2 weeks now all the boss to is lie so as her mum I am going to do something about it it is so wrong

Rip off – I was getting a trim where they are supposed to bathe, cut nails, do sanitary areas, trim feet and face. I asked specifically for a decent cut around the face. be done they said “maybe, might not have time” - couldn’t believe it. Normally a full groom with pamper at other places costs $80-$90 for my small dog. And this place does next to nothing for $70 and it’s like a dirty assembly line. Terrible. He smells nice though.

CANCELLED APPOINTMENT – Have been patiently waiting for our dog's full groom for over a month. Rang today to check upcoming appointment time, only to be told it has been cancelled without our advice, or consultation. Very disappointed in the company. apologetic nor did they offer to fit him in because of this error. The owners are rude on the phone and very unprofessional. Not at all accommodating considering this is their error. Definitelfy throwing this business overboard. :( :(

Amazing groomers – Have attended puppy school and regular grooms, Highly recommend! Great everytime

Fantastic – My puppy starts wagging her tail as soon as we pull up at Dogoverboard. She absolutely loves it and all the fabulous caring staff there.The puppy creche is a great way to socialise your puppy and knowing she is happy there while I'm at work is a huge relief.

No go for hydrotherapy – I had paid for time in the hydrotherapy pool and had my little PRT swimming as prescribed by her therapist at SASH. But Dogs Overboard put their day care large dogs in the swim area to run free. So this resulted in 2 x 35kg dogs sniffing around my 5.5kg puppy that was recovering from orthopaedic surgery and very terrified. I picked up my puppy to… Read more

leave the area and was herded by these big dogs. No staff person helped me exit the pool area or tried to restrain the dogs they let loose in the hydrotherapy area. “In my opinion” this is not a dog friendly environment but a cash cow for the owner.

Absolutely disgusting! Worst mistake taking my dog there. Would give no stars if I could – I will never ever be taking my dog back to dog over board. I stupidly made the poor decision to take him back there after I received horrible customer service from a man who works there a few months ago. for a walk which he LOVES! The first thing I noticed was he wanted to be sitting on me the whole way home in the car when he normally would be hanging out he window. Then when we returned home, he stood at his water bowl for 3 minute continually drinking water. I assume he wasn’t given any water while he was there as this was really out of character for him. He also left the groomers with a cut or bite on his leg that no one could explain. He has also been really tired almost like he had been sedated. Please do not take your dog to this place. The owner who I spoke with was nothing but rude and horrible. I am absolutely disgusted with the little service they provided and their customer service that does not exist. It scares me to think about what my dog went through and how he was treated for him to now be a completely different dog. After reading the reviews it is clear that this is not the first time something like this has happened. Disgusting.

Bad service today and they really don't care - Suggest you take your dog elsewhere – Last couple of times we have taken our dogs here they have not followed our requests for how the dogs are groomed despite paying around $170. Previously they had a great receptionist and we could pass messages to the groomer but she is no longer there. Groomer today seemingly has no idea how to properly cut our breed of dog. the Manager today to see if we could try and resolve problem but she was just defensive - not interested in feedback or trying to look at how we could make things better in the future. They seem to be too busy and therefore don't care about customer service! Also currently no supervision of COVID requirements re social distancing while waiting for services etc.. which is concerning. We are going to go elsewhere from now on and suggest others do as well!

Dog washing – Today we called dogoverboard to ask for prices and appointments for our German Shepherd. The staff were friendly and very helpful and they arranged an appointment for 12 o'clock the same day. professional and listened to our concerns with her timidness and being around other dogs. The staff re-assured us and made our dog and us feel very comfortable.

Poor customer service – Had to cancel spot at puppy preschool,  giving plenty of notice (2 weeks) but told I would not get my $75 deposit back. They even refused to let me use it as in store credit as I had planned on getting my dog groomed there. I was never told the deposit was non refundable when booking, only I had to pay a deposit to book. I was never given a… Read more

booking confirmation or receipt of deposit paid. The woman I spoke to about a refund was extremely rude and abrupt. They have lost business with me, I would prefer to travel further away and use a business who is more respectful and fair with customers.

Was going to take my dog to their daycare and grooming but not now.

Bug regrets- sad traumatised dog – I sent my dog here for two days a week for just over a month and I was not impressed. He would come home so sad and not himself and I thought he might get use to it, I wish I stopped taking him there after the first day as it only got worse. I found the dog daycare at Gateshead way better, they have yards for the dogs to play in and aren’t kept… Read more

in an enclosed space like they are at dog over board. They are kept in a small pool area. I thought they might take them outside and out and about. Nope. My dog was always busting to go to the bathroom as soon as I picked him up, he knows not to go inside he needs grass or somewhere outside to go. Shows they don’t leave the small area.

My dog would always come home with scratches and bruises and marks and last time BITE MARKS! They obviously aren’t watching the dogs as much as they should if they are allowing my dog to be attacked by others As soon as I noticed the bite marks I started seeking other day cares immediately We spent time with him in the pool that is there and he came home with rashes and redness all over… Not sure how clean the pool is.. Some of the girls are quite rough with my dog also and would get angry if he was too excited when I picked him up... OF COURSE He is going to be excited to see me! Especially when you clearly don’t treat the dogs right or give them enough attention by keeping them enclosed in the small pool area ALL day?! Don’t worry I will take my dog and money else where I have told my friends, family and anyone I know with a dog to avoid this place Would not recommend to anyone that values the health and well-being of their dogs
