Horrible paint - just like the others are saying on here. It dries on the brush and leaves beads of dried paint on the wall. I can't believe I was foolish enough to buy it. DO NOT BUY THIS PAINT. Its completely not appropriate for painting. Its too watery and even when you mix it stirring it for 1hr its still watery. You cant even apply the paint it just looks like cr^p. You'd need 30 coats to get a good coverage. I'm returning this to Bunnings tomorrow - its completely unacceptable for $250 for such bad paint.… Read more

The paint started looking chalky in patches after a few months. Now, 13 months later, the entire area (5 rooms) looks like it needs to be repainted as it genuinely looks horrible. I used the same paint 8 months prior on a different section of the house and that still looks as good as the day it was put on. I have painted many houses in my time so… Read more

I know the importance of prep, drying time between coats, etc. The only paint that is having issues is this specific batch. I am at my absolute breaking point with painting. I’m using Dulux Wash & Wear low sheen and I’m using Monarch rollers that have been recommended to me by Bunnings. I can not get a nice finish on my walls no matter how hard I try. I’m following advice from experienced painters and I’m also following advice from a representative at Bunnings who… Read more

seemed very experienced and knowledgeable with painting. I am starting to feel in complete despair. I’m a Registered Nurse and I work in Emergency, it takes a lot to break me, my level of resilience is higher than most people, but this paint has literally broken me. I’ve spent $900 on paint for 3 rooms and a hallway. The finish is stripes and lines with various different sheen. My hallway walls have been sanded back due to the awful finish, which took me hours to do on my own and I have tried again, and again only to get a similar result. Dulux insist it’s either my technique or the weather. I have since painted over the walls with British Paints and have a smooth perfect finish. Dulux are refusing to refund me because I won’t let them come out and sample the paint or provide batch numbers to the paint tins that I threw out that were empty. Complete disgrace. Who keeps empty paint tins??

November 2024 product was fine for me – I’m no professional by any means. But was fortunate enough to be able to purchase our first home. And so the renovations began! Typical me… I read all the bad reviews a week after I already brought it. I brought the 15 liter in vivid white and sesh the price tag on it could have brought me a plane ride to queenstown and back lol And… Read more ·  1

because I was too lazy to take it back, I decided to use it for our kitchen and dinning anyway, and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Thankfully I didn’t experience any of the issues stated in all the bad reviews.

It applied evenly and smoothly with no streak marks or anything.

Also, I used a roller and paint brush I brought from the $2 dollar shop lol

Maybe they took all the bad reviews into account and tweaked the formula or something who knows?

But honestly I was gearing up to come on here and add to all the bad reviews… when in reality it worked out great.

For me… it’s a 8 out of 10.

I guess… don’t knock it till you try it.

The worst paint – Awful! I am a novice painter but figured it couldn't be too hard to paint a single feature wall. I picked up 2L of wash and wear in the colour 'domino'. I used a good quality roller with a 12mm nap. From the initial application the paint was AWFUL. The texture is tacky and impossible to back roll without picking up paint or leaving streaks. I used… Read more

the whole 2L on a 2.5m wall (4 coats) and it looked worse with each application, no matter what roller or technique I used. It's thick and hard to roll evenly. After reading the reviews here, I went and picked up a can of Haymes Expressions and IMMEDIATELY noticed a difference in application, coverage, texture and how it dried. First two pics are the Dulux after it dried overnight, last pic is 1 coat of Haymes after it dried after 45mins. Honestly do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this awful paint.

it's not the paint – I'm surprised at the amount of bad reviews for what has been, in my experience, a quality product. I have used numerous brands over the years with mixed results but found Dulux to be superior to all of them resulting in a quality job. One important tip I received some time ago from a pro painter was always paint in the same direction. If you are… Read more

painting a wall from top to bottom do not change direction and paint from side to side or digonally or it will result in a streaky finish. By the looks of some photos here the biggest problem is poor technique and perhaps a lack of experience and knowledge. It's always a good idea to do some research for tips before starting a project to save disappointment with a bad result from lack of knowledge.

Patchy! Use something else! – Terrible. Use anything else. If there is no natural light where you are painting you might be ok, definitely do not use in a well lit area. I purchased a 15L drum and will not use any more. 3 coats white over off-white on an entryway with two different roller types and it’s still a patchy mess. I’ve renovated a couple of houses so not new to painting. Ended up here at reviews like everyone else when I couldn’t work out what was going wrong. Show details

Quality just not up to scratch – I have done a lot of painting in my time and although not a professional I think I can get very good results, but not with this paint. I reverted to another… Read more

brand and put two more coats on and have recovered the situation to a reasonable extent, but not as good as it should have been. This was on the Hallway. I used the other brand for the rest of the walls (Living/Dining) and got the result I was after with just the two coats - nice and even, no lines. The Hallway likely has a sixth coat to come to see if I can get that up to scratch. Will never use Dulux Wash & Wear again - of course - and this was their "New & Improved Formula". I should have maybe guessed that there was an issue, just based on this.

Not Happy - Skin and lumps – The paint didn't appear to mix the Kara Blue colour properly. After shaking, stirring and pouring there appeared to be swirl of colour. 12 nap roller. It dried patchy with roller marks where there had been sticky patches. The walls were clean and washed prior. I sanded back the whole wall with wet and dry and smoothed all patches. I opened the tin of paint after 5 days to repaint and there were long worm like lumps in the paint. I pulled out what I could, stired and poured and painted again. 3rd coat. What a disaster. The paint was tacky again and patchy it seemed to dry fast in some spots and longer in others leaving patches again. Not happy. I've painted several other rooms with same paint but different colour with no issues except the Dulux needs more coats than the Taubmans Endure.

Quality paint but experience needed – This paint is a thicker than usual interior wall paint and is suited to a those that work quickly. The paint's 'up-time' is short, requiring a wet application and no delay roll-off; small areas and fast roller recharge. If you roll it too long or add roller pressure it will start to dry and leave a poor finish. If you roll off with a still partly… Read more

charged roller and only light pressure, it will give a very good result. This application technique aids the paint's hiding ability as it provides a higher build. I would still recommend a primer/blocker on very dark colours and let it completely dry to ensure no bleed through, no matter what paint system used. The sheen level is lower than other quality 'low sheen' paints, almost flat with a only subtle hint of sheen. For most walls I would stick with the regular premium paints as the extra cost and 'needy' application are hard to justify.

Dulux paints dry to rapidly – I have purchased $10000 worth of paints over the last five years. Mostly Dulux. But I am done with the brand now. I am a Qualified carpenter & a very experienced painter. Have continually been disappointed by Dulux’s products. Coverage etc is fine or even good. But fundamentally the brand has a huge problem with its product. Almost all… Read more

their paints are designed to dry too quickly and do not amalgamate well. Especially on days above 25 degrees. This is likely caused by the accelerated chemical process during drying. In my experience the paints want to stand and resist flattening with in 30 seconds. You would have to work extremely quickly to lay off these paints or the finish will be very poor. But even then, in direct light the finish will not be anywhere near satisfactory to the standard or Dulux’s claims. Most of Dulux’s products including their water based enamels have been designed to be ‘re-coatable’ in 2 hours. Here is likely where the problem originates. The paints are generally heavy, a sign of quality, but something is going astray in the balance of ingredients or when the solvents leave the acrylic coating during the chemical process. Almost all their paint fails to cleanly amalgamate and ‘flatten’. I would not recommend even a professional uses this product for anything other than spray application. I will be spending my considerable paint budget on Haymes from now on until Dulux fixes their formula. I recommend everyone does the same thing. Most painters, even the professional, but especially the in-experienced, will end up with a paint finish that does not get even close to the Australian Standard. This means should be re done from scratch. Dulux needs to fix it’s formulas immediately or become completely obsolete and irrelevant through negative word of mouth and poor public reviews.

Bunnings personnel “I’ve never seen this before, buy primer buy better roller Grr. I have now read reviews after being so frustrated and find many saying the same. I have painted larger walls than this one with Taubmans same painting style and great finish. Same house same painter. I now have another 4 litres for another wall that I will not even waste my time using. Contacted by Dulux and got the “ this is unusual” not according to the many reviews stating same results as mine. Went out and brought Haymans one coat on top of the 8 liters of Dulux of Haymans proving it was not the painter, wall prep ,too hot. Haymans paint was $1 dearer from their shop than Dulux at Bunnings and a far superior product love it. Last photo is of the same wall no further prep of one coat of Haymans. advertised at 15m2 2 coats for a 2L tin, I did not even get a single coat on the wall using the same roller type as the Taubmans (I have paint left over here and a better finish after 2 coats and slightly bigger surface). I will add that the coat itself looked dreadful, I work fast, and carefully, but I found that overlapping the roller sections with the previous line of rolling (as you should be doing so you do not get primer showing between the roller width) only creates a bad finish on the overlapped section. HOW DO YOU GET FULL COVERAGE IN A COAT IF YOU CAN NOT OVERLAP?

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY, tacky useless expensive. Try Taubmans Easy Coat instead. Goes on easy, no streaky finish, vibrant color and my other rooms have lasted 8 years without an issue.

Note: I always put a base coat of primer on before I paint, this is recommended as you will only ever need 2 coats of paint for complete coverage in the Taubmans range. Primer is cheap and easy to use, covering different colour paint and gyprock is harder with paint and has taken up to 5 coats for simple pen line coverage on rooms I have painted without primer.
