Using a Dux hot water heater is playing Russian Roulette! – In 2016 we installed a brand new Dux Proflo 25 Litre water heater, bought from Bunnings to supply hot water for a kitchen sink. It appears we made a serious mistake buying this brand. Two nights ago 09/06/2024 water started flowing into the plastic safety tray and the unit had to be isolated from power and water. I was hoping as this Dux heater was only 8 years old it might be something simple like an element gasket but, no such luck, the cast water tank is cracked or compromised, the heater cannot be repaired and is now useless. Beware if you are in the market for a storage type hot water heater, as far as our experience with this brand Dux is concerned, their product does not meet a minimum quality standard or have what we would all regard as an acceptable useful lifespan. I would like to have included purchase details of this unit but the banks statement records only go back to 2017. There are a number of other brands on the market that I am sure would provide far superior longevity than Dux, learn from our experience, don't play 'Russian Roulette' with your hot water and avoid this brand at all cost! After submitting this post I was offered mediation and was contacted by a pleasant Dux staff member who informed me that Dux have no control over the water quality that their product may be subject to and on that basis would only stand behind their product against total failure for a period of 7 years. The staff member did kindly offer me a replacement unit at a staff discount, an offer I didn't accept because I had already replaced the unit. I appreciate Dux reaching out to me but I stand by my post, I live in a large metropolitan area with a good quality filtered watered supply and had every right to expect more than 8 years from this product!

Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $386.

Just hot water – My need for hot water is changing . As long as I have hot water at my kitchen sink and long warm water in the shower ..then that meets my plan Building a tiny house / caravan . Living in a big old hall while I do that . To get the water I need right now the best option was a plug in 240 volt unit that I can use in the building space and then install it in my tiny house . 25 litre

The obvious benefit of a unit like this is you do not need to get an Electrician to wire it in . It is compact . Designed for under bench or small utility space installation .

This device is a 2.4kw device . That is the threshold for 240 volt plug in appliances in Australia unless you install a 15 amp outlet … I am a Carpenter and charge a good rate .Electricians charge more so that flexibility is a real thing

It will run alongside another system in the future because this heater is not ideal for use without mains power

The unit is installed now. You will need extra fittings for the cold in and hot out . Take it out of the box in the car park and get the extras . Check your under bench for room

Running hot without thermostat adjustment being printed in the manual . It’s there behind the cover like all the ones before . My Wedderburn BL-6916 rated laser temp gauge read 49 degrees C on the blanked off outlet and 60 degrees C in a steel cup in the sink filling with hot water . So it needs a tempering valve .

Yeah it’s made in China like most things . My Ute is 6 years old and made there but it’s full of European and American tech and it’s great

Warranty is 7 years or less if you are not a single family dwelling . Good solid company
