Ecovacs Customer Service – Can’t work with 5G, no info on any printed or published info about this when buying. Just says works off wifi. After troubleshooting failed,I emailed customer service who wasted another week fluffing around telling me to check if I’ve plugged it in & turned it on, you all know the score with the runaround! I finally got a phone number & rang.… Read more
First question was do you have 5G? Yes I said. I am then informed that it won’t work on the 5G network. Told me to contact service provider to change my service to a mix of 5G & a 2.4G. Are they joking?? We don’t even have 3G anymore. I have no idea if this machine is good or bad as I cannot get it to function. It needs wifi to be shown its route it will take after the initial use. This revue is for the company and there handling of my problem. I can’t have a refund because it is not a quality issue.
So - so – Been using the Deebot Neo for approx. 3 months after purchasing from Aldi. I was very tempted to take it back on a number of occasions. Why, you ask?.. see below.. Pros.. 1 .. Once you come to grips with the setup, and how to use the app, the Deebot appears to do a reasonable job of vacuuming a timber floor and carpet. Does a good job of picking… Read more
up dog hair. Not so good with larger objects. 2 .. Generally speaking (though not always), it appears to be able get itself out of a tight area. 3 .. The app has various methods of cleaning such as by defined area or by zone(s). You can also set the sequence of zone cleaning. 4 .. The app has a method of defining no-go areas.
Cons.. 1 .. The instructions (manual) and the web site explanations are very poor. Did it occur to the writers that the user would like an overview of what the Deebot setup and first-time run is trying to achieve i.e. which is to connect to your network, and then map the 'whole' house.. or at least the areas where you would like the Deebot to go. If you don't want the Deebot to go to a particular area you need to block that area off, and you also need to be sure that there are no Deebot 'traps' (e.g. many chairs in one area) .. this is not made clear in the set-up instructions. I spent quite some time referring to Youtube videos and comments from other unhappy first-time users. 2 .. The dustbin is small and should be emptied often. Also the filters need regular cleaning. 3 .. If, like here, the power often goes off, the Deebot has to be re-setup each time, and hopefully you have saved your house map, or it will have to re-map the house. 4 .. The zones that it automatically creates are not intuitive e.g. there may be 2 zones in one small room, or seperate zones are not created between rooms (shouldn't it recognise a doorway?). It supposedly is possible to split zones by using the app though this does not work well.. refer to other dissatisfied users comments! 5 .. If you inadvertently leave an access door closed, the Deebot may then record this as a permanent obstacle, and won't go back into this area in future cleans. There was a way to correct this via defined area cleaning, but again, it took some time doing internet searching to find out what it was. 6 .. It is rather annoying that there are often cheery messages on the app telling me that I can upgrade or buy replacement parts. They start after it's been only used a couple of times. 7 .. It only has a one year guarantee.
So is it still possible that I will take it back? Yes, as eventually I may be sufficiently annoyed by the amount of my time the Deebot keeps wasting. Perhaps it would be quicker to just clean using a normal vacuum cleaner? Would I buy another one? No.
It's now a year later, and the Ecovacs Deebot Neo has been a learning exercise. A few extra points.
1 .. The Deebot map can be re-oriented by strong reflected light in a room. This causes the Deebot navigation to fail. Not good!. Can only be really fixed by deleting the map and re-mapping the house. 2 .. Parts kits e.g. filters, brushes for the Neo can be purchased through Temu, and they are much cheaper ($15 compared to Ecovacs $60 price for a similar kit). The 'Neo' name may be one they just use in Australia, as it doesn't seem to appear in any of the Temu descriptions. The model listed as Ozmo T8 AIVI appears to be compatible with the Neo. There are probably others.. do your measurements and look at the attachment method of the side brushes. Call me cynical, but I don't like companies that use a large range of names for essentially the same model. Couldn't possibly be about confusing the consumer, and leading them to buy directly from the company, could it?
Don't waste your money – The thing gets lost every single time. Or stuck in a corner until it goes flat, not completing the job. It changes the orientation of the map, requiring remapping. Did you know you can only 'mop' with plain water? I've had this thing for a few months now. I call the helpline, and speak to a human, but barely understand them, and get nowhere. A few… Read more
emails bounce back and forth and they tell you the problem is resolved when you give up. It's now thrown off an error code about a sensor, and the in app fix is to gently tap the sensor and nudge bar. Didn't work. Spoke to customer service and they told me to clean sensor. Again and again. Didn't work. They told me to hit reset button. They never told me that would disconnect it from internet and I have to rescan the qr and start all over again. Meanwhile, the thing is still having a spaz and throwing off the same code. Now unusable entirely. Also, the collection chamber has a crack in it. Absolutely NO IDEA how that could even happen.

Best Buy! – Great for a large open plan home. The best thing about it is, it reaches places that we wouldn't have the time to clean daily! months, the Robbo stop charging. Returned to Aldi and they refunded the purchase price in full. Deebot got lot of models, I believe the one Aldi sold was an entry model, but it should still work. therefore, not sure if this was an isolated issue or a common issue for this model.
Our new best friend – Wasn’t expecting much being a special buy from aldi but WOW! We have had Dyson’s for the last 10yrs and I have always raves about them until now. This deebot gets fine dust and fills the bin every clean. It maps well, it has got stuck a few times however we seem to have navigated those in the house now. purely bought it for vacuuming as I have two small children and two cats. I would 100% recommend this product. Amazing.

A skeptic, converted - the Deebot Neo is a great little helper (and fun cat toy) – I'm technically-minded and have built elementary robots; perhaps because of that experience I've been fairly skeptical of whether a relatively inexpensive robot vacuum would be a useful addition to the household. The Deebot Neo has demonstrated that yes, it's actually helpful. It won't replace a person pushing a more powerful vacuum cleaner around… Read more · 1
but it certainly will "tidy up" and extend the period between manual labour.
Pros: - does a decent job of a light clean - the sweeping and vacuum mechanism is effective at collecting small debris from laminated wood flooring and low-pile carpet, the mop function is pretty good at keeping a tiled floor clean from everyday traffic
- the navigation and object avoidance mechanisms are amazing - it can sometimes take a while (it's persistent!) but it has yet to get stuck behind an object or such; it even managed to get under a chair with legs barely wider than the Neo, it took a while to figure out it couldn't get out except the way it went in, but it got there in the end
- similarly it does a great job getting up and over small steps; my bathrooms have a small ramp and the Neo can't drive directly up them, but it does this neat little wiggle and eventually goes up bum-backwards; whether this is programmed behaviour or random, it's neat to watch, and effective
- it's great at avoiding stuff left on the floor - per the instructions I picked everything that wasn't furniture up from the floor to do the initial mapping. Later I put back all the shoes, etc that we normally have around and the Neo detects all this just fine and has yet to get itself tangled up
- if you have areas you don't want the vac to enter (e.g. shag rug that it can't handle) there is an easy to use 'virtual barrier' function that is very handy for this
- it figured out where the WiFi access point was located and reports signal strength
- when the mop pad is fitted it explicitly avoids going on to carpet
- it doesn't cry for help much at all: perhaps one in 10 cleans it'll require assistance, usually because something has gotten stuck, either the bumper or the sweepers
- the "just clean this area, now" function is very easy to use
- cats love it! Keeps them entertained for hours (see below for the negatives on this :-))
Cons: - the app is good but has some niggles - one page of the setup process was in Chinese
- can't handle long-pile rugs, as expected
- the multiple map thing needs work, with that enabled the Neo seems to occasionally think it's in a new place and starts a new map; it's been fine since I disabled the multi-map function
- gets confused when cats push it off its charger! (see video) We'll need to make a small box/house for the Neo's charger, so it can park in peace without the cats interfering with it.
When a glass bowl shattered on the kitchen tiled floor, I cleaned up the larger parts and most of the small glass shards; there was a bit of blood from a cut foot, and a few small shards left to the Deebot to handle. It did this well.
I tested the vac on a cleaning up a sticky residue on a tiled floor, alongside some dirt. It did ok on this, cleaned up the dirt well but left most of the sticky residue behind (see photos for before and after). Fair enough, it actually took some cleaning spray and a firm hand to wipe that up.
In summary: does what it says on the tin!
Pleasantly surprised! – I was a sceptic, but the neo has converted me, I'll never be without one again! We have mostly hard floors and it cleans them effortlessly, on the mat in automatically increases power to accommodate. I haven't used the mop function because I haven't seen a real need, but who knows, maybe later! PS. Cat is still suspicious! Show details · 1
Hail the Robotic Suction King – We used the Deebot Neo (who we have nicknamed ‘Dee’) on carpet and tiles. Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot Neo performed well on both surfaces, especially carpet – the suction power is really impressive for a robot vacuum. Usually you have to do a second run weekly with a stick vac but now we can just put our feet up with a cuppa and watch some K… Read more · 1
dramas. A few downsides – mopping isn’t that effective, there are a few connectivity issues with WiFi, bin size is on the small size and battery life isn’t that long. But if you don’t mind these things, this is a robot vacuum that sucks in the best way.
Cleaning effectiveness
I was really impressed by how clean carpets turned out. The Neo left those coveted, clean vacuum lines that made carpets look new. We also have an older Xiaomi robovac and it is our little helper, but the carpets don’t come up half as clean as this. You’d expect this cleaning effectiveness from a ‘proper’ vacuum, like an upright or stick vac.
There are 4 suction levels, and even on Standard (Level 2) the carpets were so clean, on the maximum setting they were spotless. Another handy feature is that you can set the robovac to do multiple rounds – we set 2 rounds for areas that needed heavy-duty cleaning, like the kitchen, and it worked a treat.
The amount of dirt, hair and debris the Neo picked up was mind boggling (pictured)… especially as we had just run our Xiaomi 2 days prior :/
Mopping was unfortunately a different story. Although there are 4 cleaning levels, even the Ultra High setting didn’t do much. Hardly any water comes out (the tiles were barely wet) and the pressure is too slight to lift anything more than very light stains (if that). I don’t know how good robovacs are at mopping though, generally… nothing beats a bit of manual pressure to scrub hard floors so my hopes weren’t high to begin with.
Build Quality
This is a really solid looking robovac. It has a large build, long side brushes to sweep up dirt and debris, and the internal parts (the brush, filters, and bin) feel sturdy when you handle them.
Ease of use
It was frustrating connecting Neo with the Ecovacs app. It struggled to connect to my partner’s phone, bringing up a connectivity error 4 times. This happened once more after our first use; it couldn’t connect to the WiFi even after we reset the Wifi button inside the machine.
Apart from this, the app was easy enough to use. We were able to create a custom cleaning area for our half of the house we share, and no-go mop zones. The Neo was a little slow when it first mapped the house, but once it knew its way around it got more efficient.
As a side note, you can’t seem to choose your specific cleaning program if you’re scheduling cleaning sessions. You can only choose the time and date, and it’ll vacuum only, not mop (the mopping water tank needs to be permanently stored outside the unit when not in use, anyway).
Cleaning and maintenance
The dust bin was a little tricky to remove at first. When pressing the red button, you have to hold the bin at such a precise angle to get the lid to open. The bin size is a little small. For our 33 metres-squared area, the dust bin was about three quarters full. For a larger space the dust bin would probably need to be emptied before the Neo completes its cleaning sesh.
Battery life
The battery life is sufficient for us. After completing its rounds it went back to its dock to charge (normal), but my partner wanted to turn it on to check something. Alas, this little guy’s battery was dead. Our cleaning area is set to 1 bedroom, a small kitchen and living area and a corridor. People with larger houses may find their Neo dies mid-session, taking longer time to clean as you’d have to wait till its charged back up again. Noise level
At first the Neo sounded like a mini jet taking off. It’s pretty loud for a robot vacuum. It’s much louder than our Xiaomi, but also the suction power is much better (so the noise does, ultimately, feel justified). It’s not a major minus, but if you’re in a meeting or doing something that requires quiet probably wait to run this machine.
All in all this is a great robot vacuum if superior suction is your top priority. It may be a better option for smaller spaces just because of the bin size and battery life.
In-depth reviews
Already a valued member of our household – The setup was so simple with a QR code that finds the app and creates your robot profile. Mapping the house was so easy and seamless (he got stuck once but that was human error not his fault at all) but very easily found his way out and continued. He has found every room in the house easily (you do have to ensure there aren't things in the way ie… Read more · 1
clothing or cables, but this is the same with any of them, just logical), he mapped out all the tiled areas and all the carpet areas easily and we now just leave him to do his own thing and he absolutely smashes it! Honestly, for the price he is incredible! We bought him specifically to take some of the pressure of vacuuming as we have a very fluffy cat that sheds a lot and generally lots of people come and go, leaving dirt or mess around the place and we couldn't stand vacuuming 3 times a week to keep it clean. 'Creature' as we have affectionately named him has completely removed any need to vacuum I was expecting to have to still do a solid vacuum once a week or so but honestly, he is smashing it! His mopping (which is a bonus as we didn't buy him for this purpose) is honestly better than expected, it is not flawless but we only have to spot a clean once in a blue moon if something is a more stubborn mark. I honestly am so impressed with this, especially given the price! Please if you read the negative reviews take into consideration that there may be some user error in there, I have fumbled as I learned to use Creature and that is a fault I cannot put onto the product.
Easier to do it yourself – I have tried, I really have, but the Evovac Deebot NEO is completely useless. I have talked to Customer Support and they have tried, but the Vac is just no good at all. OK, so the suction is fine and even the mopping is not too bad, but the software and mapping doesn't work. We have a great WIFI signal through the home, but still the vac gets… Read more
lost and then just goes off and does its own thing. We have mostly wood floor, with some carpeted bedrooms. We went through the long process of letting it map the home, which it did successfully, but when we schedule it to clean specific rooms, it completely ignores the instructions and goes where ever the hell it wants. We've only had it for a month and a half, but as I work from home, I can observe it and inevitably go rescue it when it goes somewhere it shouldn't. It has mapped 9 areas, but when it first starts, it goes to the first room in my sequence and once that room is complete, it claims to have finished and returns to the charger. I then have to adjust the map order by removing that room and starting the process again. It does this, but after doing 6 more areas, it goes back to the first room which I don't want it to do again and gets itself lost. Eventually I have to manually take it back to the charger and re-sequence the map to do the remaining rooms.
Even when I select the just the room that the WIFI box is in, the vac will do about a quarter of the room and then head off to the other side of the house and begin vacuuming a random room of its choice, until such time that it finds an object to jam up with or simply run out of battery life.
I know this Vac is very cheap for the brand, but unless you live in just one room, it probably won't work for you.
Waste of money!
Deebot the bot to have – I would recommend this product (one can skip rest of the review). I have been using this for over six months and the bot is going good. Initially I was sceptical of the vacuum bots as the time and cost of trial and error with this tech was steep. I am in a decent size house too with grooved title flooring and area rugs. for smooth operation of the Ecovacs Deebot Neo is / are: - Charge it well before starting to do the first mapping or doing setup. - Have a stable wifi connection (consider the size of the house and wifi coverage) - Have a phone that can scan QR code (most phone does but just in case) - Have clear floor to get a good mapping of the floor space (later most obstacles wouldn't matter) - When using keep floor clear of small items that can cause issues for the bot (small toy blocks, anything that can get stuck under / in the bot rotary parts.
Cons: Rarely it loose the location at the start of the vacuum cycle and requires multiple attempts to manually lift and put it back to the charging dock, power off and restart and these are not in any particular order.
Could do better: Mopping is not that effective work without wifi after it has been setup once (situations when there is power outage, internet is not available, wifi is not working)

Great helper in keeping the floors crumb and dust free – Bought this from aldi a few months ago and so far it’s been great. Mapped the house first go, admittedly the map looks a bit off in a few rooms but that doesn’t stop it from cleaning those rooms from edge to edge without issues. I struggle to find crumbs on the floor after it’s done and we have a toddler that runs around with food regularly. For… Read more

Started out good. Now regretting it – Bought this vacuum a few weeks ago from Aldi and was initially impressed by the smart technology and mapping of the house. I get an alert on my phone that it needs rescuing and when I get to… Read more
where it is, it's literally against a the corner of the wall or a door. Nothing stuck on anything. It just runs into a wall or corner of something and gives up. As I am writing this review I have had to rescue it twice. Once it was resting against a tallboy. The second time it was resting against the bedroom wall Dont buy.
Save your money – Unfortunately I would not recommend the Deebot Neo. The app and mapping of this robot is terrible. It is very sensitive to movement, often causing loss of map/s and to re-map the house it takes a week or longer with issues. You have to babysit it and follow around, even then once my map was created, it created the house as one big room & no divisions. I’d recommend you save your money for a better robot, as I wish I had. Show details
Great when it works – Good hardware but the app and smarts stink. After taking 4 goes and basically babysitting the robot for a day, I finally got my house to map. just as easy to empty the dustbin after each use. Great for dog hair. I love him. He does need regular cleaning and a wipe down especially over the sensors. Be realistic about the mopping function - he has a small water tank and mopping pad. At best he will mop up dust and light stains. He won't replace a manual or steam mop but he'll certainly shine at vacuuming.

website the pack described for the Neo. It was $7 dearer than the first pack. When the package arrived it was exactly the same one I had the first time, not what it said on my order. After many emails, I get a ("Sorry for the experience. Kindly note that the look of accessories from the different models might be similar and if the price is different, then should be for two different models, Thank you for your patience.) and this ("After confirming with our dedicated team, we kindly notice that the accessory kit is compatible with the Deebot NEO, so it should be able to compatible with your Deebot. If there is any refund service needed, we are sorry that you need to bare the shipping fee to return the package back to our warehouse. Please let us know whether we could help you go through the next step")
So - I am$20.25 down, I still am not sure this is the right accessory pack and they will not refund the extra money. If I open the pack to try and it is wrong, will they take it back? Plus another $13.25 postage if they do! This has been going on backward and forwards since October. Neo is great but customer service is definitely not. Try to buy your accessories elsewhere for the Neo.
Location and map constantly resetting – Bought this from Aldi couple of months ago. For the first two weeks it worked so well and we were thrilled with it. the charging base has relocated to other rooms and changes the map when nothing has been moved; if it picks up something we missed and we pause to scoop it out and place it back in the exact same spot, it can't relocate and starts a new map again. Over the last 4 weeks I've had to remap 13 times. It has now lost the location again after I attempted a mop clean for the first time and no matter how many times I put it back on the base and reset app, it cannot locate and I now need to remap the house AGAIN. The product itself works well when it wants to work, but the constant remapping is a nightmare and I'm ready to bin it. Tried calling helpline too, got nowhere with it.
