Excellent performance and battery life compared to the high end $1000 models! – If you were considering the high end vacuums then save your money and read below! I have been eyeing a Robo vacuum for months and initially, I was only considering the Roborock ones as a few friends have them and highly rate them. I also knew that the Roborock S7 was going to be released soon and having a handheld Dyson V10 that costed around… Read more ·  1

$1000 back when it was new, I didn't hesitate that I was going to spend another $1000 on a Roborock however I wanted to ensure that my money goes towards something that is bang for buck.

When this model was on sale $599 vs $1000 at other retailers, I knew this was something I needed to look into and boy am I glad I did. For the price difference, I could definitely be happier spending at least $400 or more on other things.

Now in terms of my house, I am in a two-storey home and am yet to try it on the second floor (carpet with 2 tiled bathrooms) but we have this downstairs and have an open plan home. One quarter of the downstairs area is carpeted and the rest is tile including the laundry/bathroom.

Items in the box: You get 4 brushes in total. The Vac itself uses 2 which means you have a full spare set to replace if needed. You also get 10 disposable mop pads and 1 reusable mop pad which I assume you would simply throw in the washing machine. There is also a direct vac attachment which essentially doesn't have the turning bristles. This simply vacs up everything (imagine an open mouth sucking stuff in compared to the roller sweeping)

First Use: You'll need the app to register an account and to manage the robovac. Before you can use it properly, you'll need to turn it on once so that it roams the entire house to scan it as a floorplan. Once this is done - you're good to go with selecting specific areas for cleaning or routines etc... For the time being, I prefer to just set it on whenever I need to every few days after dinner once we've cleared all our kids toys.

The good: Killer battery life that I believe not many other machines can match. Very very easy to use intuitive app that allows specific selection of areas to clean (system automatically splits the areas and is quite accurate to how you would actually split it if manually done). Fantastic price at the moment since all the "newer" models are coming out. Mopping function seems to do a decent job on tile. Refer to one of my photos to see the end goal of mopping. For reference, I had not mopped the floor for at least 1 month but have vacuumed on a weekly basis.

The bad/not so good: Obstacle avoidance - there is no camera to recognise stuff on the floor to then avoid it. This uses sensors to move around and when it hits something small, it sometimes takes it along for the ride (i.e. toddler shoes) and moves it away abit. This isn't a major issue as it still cleans perfectly fine but expect to have lighter small items moved away from their position if the vac comes around. Due to the size of the battery (almost 2x larger than competitors), it takes quite a few hours to charge!

Other info: I've attached some images of my floorplan and area so you can get an idea of how much battery you would have left. In summary, vacuuming on normal mode (there is also Max and Max+) for the entire bottom floor of 62m2, it took 84minutes and put it down from full charge to about 20% Mopping the non carpeted area, it took 64 minutes to do 37m2 with about 70% battery remaining.

Why did I buy this over the various other models around the $1000-$1200 range? It all came down to bang for buck. With the other models, you could also get a self emptying bin. However - at that price (paying almost $400 more), I would then also be locked into having an ongoing cost of disposable bin bags as well!

I also knew that there was no actual camera on this unit but it seems to work very well. In terms of bin size to empty, I would say if you run this machine a few times a week, empty it once a week should be enough.

Happy! 1 year and mostly no problems! with two German Shepard's, lots of hair! its been a saviour for someone with OCD – Bought it with hesitation. Owned a Samsung prior, resold it, as it kept getting caught under furniture. - Yes there are teething problems, does lose maps, goes around in circles occasionally, gets caught on mats, it loses wifi connection. This would be around 10 % of the time though. Doesn't take long to sort. - I am mostly happy, I set it… Read more ·  1

for 3 am in the morning on low suction and high is quite loud. The amount of hair it picks up is amazing, and the mopping keeps the tiled floor looking great. I dont use it on carpets and set boundaries around mats or doors. I always use the mopping and sweeping. I maintain it by cleaning it and it needs emptying and water filling every day, but will maybe get two days. - The app is easy to work. - Filter, brush and mop parts are easily and affordable on eBay. - Sometimes it just doesn't come off the dock at all and you have to check it has got onto the charging points properly.

Things I would change:

- Reading these review of some lemons, the company needs to be more proactive, like Dyson, and making good with replacements not repair waiting times and excuses. Dont fluff replies by looking like you care when its just fake. - I would buy an auto empty vacuum stand to go with it if available. Just $s - Make the bin a bit bigger on the machine. Give 3 replacement mops not paper ones. - Program could work out that its been in one place too long and looks into at removing itself from its own stuck motion of being stuck. - Paying $500 ish dollars is totally worth it, not a $1000, especially if you get a lemon.

Overall I have been happy with this machine, my machine has been a saviour to my floors, it is currently going around the house now, as I have had to reset the boundaries, due to a program malfunction of moving and doubling the map on a page. But hey, I am not having to sweep the floor and mop it every day, so it makes perfect sense to own one of these.

WON'T GO ON CARPETS – I have just started using using the OZMO 950, it does not go on carpets (not shaggy). Is this a defect or do I need to program it? I tried contacting the shop where I bought it from, but they told me to refer to the manufacturer. It cleans really well on tiled floors. HELP Show details

Frustrating – This robot vacuum works well when new, but seems to lose its marbles over time. I've had mine for around two years and during the second year, the thing has started showing some annoying behaviours. It will not follow a straight wall as it used to when new, instead it pushes into the wall, spinning the drive wheels and slowly turning on the spot… Read more

due to the drive forcing itself into the wall, until the middle of the front bumper sensor seems to trigger and it backs off, goes along the wall a few more centimetres and does the same again. This behaviour is gradually creating marks along the skirting boards of the house. A full clean, check of bumpers etc for any obstructions and a factory reset did not remedy this.

It will occasionally totally ignore no-go zones and drive into them, and sometimes will get stuck inside the no-go zone because it cannot get out (I presume because it remembered it can't cross the border of the zone). Again, a factory reset didn't fix this and Ecovacs customer support wasn't super helpful, giving a long guide that essentially told me how to factory reset the thing.

Several times in the first year of ownership, the robot will completely forget the saved map and with no warning or reason it'll wipe it and you have to re-map the house again.

Lastly, the most recent thing is that the robot has the ability to detect carpet and not drive onto carpet with the mop attached. Today, mine managed to drive over a metre on carpet with the mop attached and stopped and shut off. I was at work so I didn't see it, but I usually get app notifications when the robot gets stuck or something, but for this there is no record of any problem only that the scheduled task had started.

The app itself has many features but is clumsily made and not the most user friendly. Setting no-go zones and dividing areas into smaller areas is very fiddly and the controls for those settings are small and it is easy to either press save or cancel on the line you're trying to edit. Often when dividing an area the app will say "only divide the selected area", when the fiddly little line to set the division is clearly crossing the selected area.

The positives are many, when they work correctly. The mapping is actually pretty good when the robot first maps the house and you can set zones for different rooms which can then be separately scheduled. The robot can be set with different power settings and how much water it distributes when mopping. The mop is more of a "damp cloth wiping the floor" but if done daily it keeps the floor pretty clean. The option to use a central brush or not use one is good as hair gets wrapped around it pretty easily. The robot is easy to clean and replacing brushes and filters etc is easy and those parts are readily available.

I'll likely replace this one with a Roborock (sooner if it keeps trying to mop carpet!)

Update February 2024: Only today, my vacuum took 76 minutes to try to remap my house (which it has previously cleaned in 50 minutes). It kept going over the same parts of the floor repeatedly and missing other large sections of the floor. It got stuck on corners and straight parts of wall which it was previously able to navigate normally. Then it finally went onto carpet again with the mop attached, so I had to cancel the clean which meant the remap attempt would not be saved. Then the thing drove to the complete wrong room to where its charging dock is located, got stuck on the couch somehow and gave up and shut down.

I cannot fathom how software can seemingly degrade in a manner not unlike a human with a disease of the brain. I beggars belief. The only responses I get from Ecovacs are further repeated instructions on how to reset the thing and failing that, I'm asked for $90 to have the machine assessed despite that it is only two years old and has no mechanical defects.

A much needed gadget for a clean home – A much need vacuum and mopping gadget which saves me a lot of time. Superb mapping and auction power. Very good for hard floors. Love my Deebot – I've had my Deebot for a couple of years now and it's a wonderful product. It does a very good job of keeping clean floors clean. It needs a couple of runs to get on top of extra dirty floors but it picks up dirt that my dyson leaves behind. On the downside, it has a frustrating tendency to lose its map which is a hassle because I must then… Read more ·  1

That mapping malfunction also means that it can't always find the charger - it will be looking for the charger and head off in the wrong direction, even when it's right in front of the charger! ECOVACS not just Ozmo 950! I contacted ECOVACS service department and was told $55+gst just to send it back to them for assessment( and yes there is additional cost for repairing) This process is so time consuming and troublesome with so many steps, like you just can't just send it to them.

So if you are thinking of buying an ECOVACS, DON'T!!!! It is not worth it!!!! Expensive brand but not a quality product. I rarely use this vacuum due to the hassle with the Apps etc for me definitely not worth it even at half the price.

Do not purchase a Deebot - wish I’d seen these reviews before I purchased – I paid $799 from JB HiFi, so I would expect a decent product considering there are much cheaper ones available. The Deebot has never ever been able to map properly, even when it was in under warranty for the first 12 months. The customer service line is really useless, they give you very basic instructions such as turn the machine on and off and… Read more

also press the reset button, which of course I had already tried. After 11 months of using it, in a certain room it bangs into walls and says its driving wheels are stuck, so I just don’t put it in that room (kids play room) anymore. Now finally, last week it was working in the morning (in one of the rooms that it actually works in) and I wanted to change the suction level on the mop. Only way to do this is through the app, so I downloaded the app and connected it and then it COMPLETELY stopped working. When we put it on the charging dock it says ‘please power me on before charging’ on repeat. The machine is already powered on as it continually says this. It’s beyond frustrating. Only option is to pay $99 to send it in for repairs. And judging by the other reviews and service to date, I don’t feel like this would be worth it. I’m just going to get slugged with another bill on top of the $99 to have it fixed and I don’t trust it actually will be fixed considering it hasn’t worked from the beginning. A complete waste of $800. If I was certain it would be fixed sufficiently I would pay the $99 to return it plus the service costs and repair costs, but I don’t have the faith that it will be fixed. Therefore my only other option is to throw it away. Really disappointing.

Many emails were exchanged and I was told the machine is out of warranty and I would need to send it back to them at my own cost to get a quote to repair. The quote to repair was $452 - this is simply outrageous for an appliance which has not seen much use and is barely 3 years old. I understand everything has an expiry date but for the price I paid and the usage, I would've expected the machine to last longer than it did. Suffice to say, I did not pay for the repair and will not purchase another product from Ecovacs. I urge you to spend your money elsewhere.

Instruction manual said to remove machine and put back on the contacts 3 times to reset the battery but this didnt work. The battery is totally dead and wont recharge despite anything we do. Further investigation indicates this is a circuit board problem and Ecovacs will not assist once its past its warranty. This wasnt a cheap machine, it should last longer than nearly 2 years.

Zero support – I bought this robot vacuum cleaner as I have a large 3 level home with three cats. Unfortunately this model of Deebot, while it said "multi floor" can only remember 2 maps. A small plastic side clip broke about three weeks before the warranty ran out and I contacted Deebot support immediately. Unfortunately, Deebot support is non existent. Seven emails and two phone calls starting early this year and I only had someone come back to me this month, saying as it's out of warranty, so I would have to pay for the postage and repairs. I was very unhappy. I would not recommend this company to anyone as there is absolutely zero support and they will not honour their warranty. EDIT: After writing this review, Deebot support contacted me and they fixed the side brush clip that was broken. I was pleased that it was fixed, however, in the mean time I had bought a Roborock S7 Max V.

Great Vacuum - But stupid navigation - it's missing a few bottles from the sixpack! if u get my drift! – Have been using the Deboot 950 for a few years now, we lived in a very small place for a while and had no issue and infact the suction was really good on carpet. But had a constant problem of eating the plastic rope on vertical blinds and it forgetting where the charger is located. Now in a bigger place, deboot loses it's map every second time… Read more

and then trys to remap its self - which is really frusting because you can't use deboot features until thats done. This means I'm constantly remapping and waiting until I can use it properly, and inbetween it loses the charger location - FYI I write software code and I'm perplex to the routine it takes to find home because most of the time it goes in the exact opposite direction of where it just came from to find home...! Stupid!

It's actually so frusting now that we have not been using it as much.......it's just become a massive time waster.

Anyway, with a few years of putting up, I've decided to throw it out !! I would have given it 5 stars stright after purchase for the app and suction abilities - but now zero stars if I could choose that option.

Didnt over use the machine. Didnt let it suck up water etc. A few months ago i set the vaccume cleaner off and noticed one of the brushes wasnt working. Rang Ecovac who suggested resetting the machine. The representative could not provide any further assistance besides reset the machine or send it off to interstate to be looked at (postage and labour all at my cost). Then i found out Godfreys can service them so i went to a Godfreys store. The staff member said its more than likely a circuit board issue and they see it all the time in these models. Said it will probably be around $500 to fix all up. He suggested i scrap the machine and buy a new one as they aren't designed to last as the technology advances so fast. Result is a $1000 machine lasting 2 years with average use. Definitely not value for money. My old Dyson did a better job. Ecovac Customer Service was average at best. The cameras also see out our large glass doors, the outside area also appears on the map, it doesn't try to go there to clean, but it just makes the map look unfinished.

The robot does get more efficient (apparently) after correct mapping, but yesterday I did a 132m² floor area in 124 mins and it just finished everything before needing to recharge. I have a lot of carpet and have it set to auto adjust the power, so it chewed the battery up quicker. As some others have said, the logic is a bit flawed. After starting it did half of a room, did half of the room beside it, then went to a different room in another part of the house, back to the second room, back to the other end of the house etc etc. If it was being more efficient, it would not go back and forth to opposite ends of the house, unnecessarily using up the battery. However, the Deebot knows what it has done, so despite it's ill logic, it does go everywhere it is meant to...assuming the battery lasts. If it has to go charge, it will continue where it left off.

Mopping is also good, although it won't scrub off stubborn marks, I still used my steam mop. Great for maintenance of the tiles though.

I think the Deebot is just a good firmware update away from perfection.

This is my first robot vacuum and the time savings are worth the cost.

Last thoughts: • I run it at 4am, it is definitely not as loud as a Dyson and you can sleep while it is working away. • When setting the vacuum to Silent power, you can barely hear it. I haven't tested the ability of it though, I just run on Standard. • In minimal resting, it also seems that it is not detected by PIR sensors, but I haven't been brave enough to keep it on while my alarm is armed yet.

--------------------------------- EDIT: I returned my robot vacuum yesterday. I had continual Anti Drop Sensor errors saying they were dirty (they were so clean you could eat off them). I had about 30 errors within a few hours, trying to get the job done. Three times when lifted to clean, it reset the map and had to go back to the dock to start over. I send it back to Ecovacs for service, got it back two weeks later and it was even worse. It would back off the dock, start, move back more and then have the same error. I called the hotline, reset it all (again) and it did the same thing.

Gives me doubts that Ecovacs service actually did anything to it at all, they certainly didn't test it before returning it and they wouldn't even tell me what the problem was.

I can absolutely recommend having a robot vacuum, they are a great time saver for busy families and it is a great feeling waking up to freshly cleaned carpets. But I can also say, never ever get an Ecovacs! Mine was just rubbish.

Hats off to The Good Guys who gave me a refund without any trouble at all despite being 3 months old.

Bit disappointed. It needs supervision – I did a lot of research before I bought this and hands down, it was the best value for price. I did love it initially but my Deebot does act up. The mapping system is shocking, it doesn't like any changes in the environment. If you have large windows good luck! It causes ghosting on the map and you have to re map the whole house. It's constantly… Read more

getting stuck or banging into furniture, I thought it was meant to avoid doing that? Isn't that what I paid big money for?

Another interesting thing, after two months I got an alarm saying replace the main brush and the side brushes. So ECOVACS you expect me to pay for that constantly? I think that's pretty poor form from the company.

My advice to the company is if there is an issue with the mapping allow customers to conduct a border only mapping first instead of them having to go through the whole remapping process. It's painful!

This probably works well in a small house or apartment with no large windows, nothing on the floor (which is not realistic) and a person who doesn't move furniture. God forbid you move a chair. Deebot doesn't like it!

My old Samsung robotic vacuum was less of a headache. I am very disappointed and hoping maybe I have a faulty one. Doesn't seem like it with some of the reviews lately.

Nighmare to use after a year – Flooring type : wooden and carpet I bought 950 ozmo in may 2020. It worked fine for less than an year. Initially when i started using, it worked fine even on 2 floors. There were occasions where map would suddenly disappear but it was less frequent. But since last 2/3 months, I am not able to save map at all. It takes few hours to trying to clean… Read more

and create map and then bot says that Its unable to locate charging station. So, i have to start the whole process again. I have asked evovacs support for help. Lets see how it goes. My rating is on my basis of frustration as of today. On other note: ecovacs 950 also has a mop but I hardly use it as it leaves puddles of water on floor. I submitted mop review last year.

Appalling Customer Service – Loved my machine only to find it failed after 3 months. No replacement only repair available. Told repair would be 5-15 working days. It’s been 30 working days. Parts still out of stock. Disappointed & disgusted. Show details

Ozmo 950 – We’ve had Ozmo for a few weeks now, bought as an online special from JB Hifi, for $599. We have a single storey house, with a mix of flooring - carpet in bedrooms, bamboo in lounge and office and tiled elsewhere, and some sea grass or coir mats. On the first cleaning run, Ozmo mapped the house, cleaning as it went, and picked up an amazing amount… Read more ·  1

of dust, dirt, lint. We now run it every other day and it still seems to find stuff…since we consider ourselves clean and tidy types we’ll blame the cat!

Good points: just about everything. It was good value for money, it picks up a lot of dust, dirt, lint, hair and what have you…and it’s quieter than other vacuums. Improvements: 1. The mapping runs seem illogical. It would map part of one room then go to the other end of the house, map that area and then return to complete the half-done area. 2. In mopping mode Ozmo will not go onto carpeted areas, so it cannot get to our ensuite as the only way in is via the carpeted bedroom. 3. I watched it spend 10 full minutes circling a coffee table leg. No idea why. 4. Sometimes it cannot find the docking station even though the station hasn’t moved 5. To use area cleaning, Ozmo divides the house into its own areas, which you can label, but which might not be logical. I think it would be best to let the owner draw the boundaries for each room/area once the original mapping is done

Vacuum is Adequate, mopping is average - but mapping fails every time, and the customer support team do not respond – The vacuum power on this is fine, and love this idea that we can send it out at anytime, however I don’t think I’ve managed one entire vacuum with it getting ‘lost’, stuck, trying to return to the dock by trying to get through a wall. And then once it gets stuck somewhere, seems to completely lost track of what has been vacuumed so goes over the… Read more

same area again and again and again. Additionally, the mopping function rarely works. If the mapping and losing track of what had been vacuumed wasn’t an issue - then I’d be recommending this wholeheartedly. But currently debating whether we keep or not.
