Dryer just doesn't dry – Waste of money - just get a conventional dryer. This dryer doesn't dry clothes.. after 2-3 hours they can still come out damp requiring to go on again... have tried extra dry, long time programs and can have better results hanging washing out in the rain. We bought this thinking we'd do the energy efficient thing and have preservered for months trying to give it a chance. Should have sent it back after we got it... can't wait for it to die and we can go back to a standard convection dryer that actually dries clothes.

A Choice recommended heat pump dryer for under $1000 – Our old Beko DPE7400 heat pump dryer (a previous Choice recommendation) stopped drying clothes properly nine months out of its 5-year warranty, and its compressor became very loud, so it was time for a replacement. In this latest batch of Choice recommendations, this is the only dryer available for under $1000 (disregard the $1649 price listed by Choice). It's better in every way than the Beko was when new (maybe because it's 5+ years newer). The various programs work well, clothes dry quickly, and come out properly dry (unlike with the Beko, where they felt a tiny bit damp). This model also features a reversible door and a water drain pipe, so no more emptying the water collection tray. It’s quiet and, of course, cheap to run. As Choice rightly mentions, there’s nothing to dislike. The 2-year warranty is a downside compared to the Beko, but with Bing Lee matching a competitor's price of $996, we opted for their 3-year warranty extension for $99. Third-party warranties can be questionable—time will tell if this was a good investment. Highly recommended!

Advertised as gentle on the ears but not quite – I upgraded from a 20-year-old Electrolux washer-dryer combo to a new washer and heat pump dryer. I bought it on 19/07, and everything seems fine. On 7/08, I noticed the dryer got a constant semi-loud buzzing sound. I recorded it and tried to get the seller and Electrolux to verify if that is normal. But no luck at all. The Electrolux support call centre is an utter joke. I was told to let the support person hear the buzzing sound through the phone, but obviously, it would not work. When I offered to send the video I got, I was told they dont have anyone technical there to confirm. Why in the hell do you ask to listen through the phone? Treating me like an idiot. It has been 2 months since I gave up calling their support centre. I will attempt to return this lemon crap. Electrolux is no longer a reliable brand, and worse regarding its call center.
Update: The Electrolux technician is really helpful. He explained thoroughly what caused the noise. Though it was advertised as gentle on the ears, I am not sure about that. But it is working as it should. Happy with it
