Ever since we bought this machine it has had a problem not completing a wash cycle. It seems fairly random, and we can't understand what the problem is. Electrolux were no help either. Would not recommend.
Totally useless – I can see why they discontinued this machine the wash is very ordinary I often have to put clothes through twice and the spin cycle is pathetic even on 1200rpm. I will NEVER buy another Electrlux Show details

Good product – I decided to buy this washing machine because I needed a big capacity. It works really good: no noise, save energy, a lot of programs choices, simple to clean. I'm happy to have chosen it Show details
Great unit! – Buying white goods second hand is a minefield. Hey, I know, I'm not telling you anything. I bought this device and given it a fair trot...and it is great. It's four years old, got it for $250, and it goes like a Swiss clock. So all I can say is thanks to Electrolux, and thanks to the young guy who sold it to me. Five stars. Show details
Two years old and going strong! – Cleans clothes like a champ. There's no way of mistaking when its turned on because this little monster lets the whole neighbourhood know - especially when its on spin cycle, in which case, it drowns-out aircraft noise. Not many satisfactory shorter wash cycles. However, this is a sturdy, well-made machine and has definitely outlasted its warranty. I expect another 8 years minimum out of this one. Show details

Would check design features more carefully next time – I have not had any problems with use of the machine but the short wash cycles are pretty limited - all of them seem to be quite long and use the same volume of water - no water saving cycles. But the worst thing is the drain pump filter which you are supposed to clean monthly (like that's going to happen). The instructions tell you to put a… Read more
container underneath to catch the water but because it is right at the bottom of the machine you can't get anything under it except a saucer! You would have to have the machine raised up off the floor to make this an easy job. Also there is no place to retrieve lint build up, not sure if that is the drain pump filter but if so, this is a difficult job to be performing every month.
Nothing but trouble – I’ve had this washing machine for 4 years and electronics board has just failed again, after having it replaced 10 months ago! Don’t want to keep throwing money at it! Show details

Disappointing – We bought this machine 4 years ago. 8 months later the inlet valve needed replacing. It lasted 18 months and needed replacing again. Less than a year later, same thing. Now another 11 months later - same again. The part comes with a 12 month warranty, but we've had to pay the call out fee and labour for most of these visits, and once for the… Read more
part. Very poor performance for what's supposed to be a reputable brand!
Update: Electrolux wanted a chance to look into this history before the review is published. We ascertained that all the work was done by their techs and that there's nothing wrong with the water supply. In conclusion we were told that since the machine is currently working they don't see fit to compensate us in any way for the hassle or cost of having to replace ther faulty part 4 times in 4 years, beyond the 12 month warranty on the part and 3 months on the labour.

Best Washing Machine – I purchased this washing machine in 2015. I was looking for a cheap washing machine as I didn't have much money. The sales guy spoke highly of this machine, the warranty and you deal with the manufacturer. This guy also had one of these machines and I purchased it. I have had zero issues with it, it can wash fast, dry fast and just keeps going. I… Read more
think i've cleaned it maybe a handful of times. I can honestly say this brand and this washing machine is the best out there. Its not overally big, but perfect otherwise.
Piece of crap will never buy Electrolux again – I have owned from new since 2014 (bought at Good Guys Artarmon) and have had ongoing door closure and error (E40) problems after about 2 years of ownership. The problem is the machine wouldn't start unless I slam the door hard multiple times and is especially a problem with small loads. I have recently spent $350 to have the problem repaired and… Read more
it seemed to work for a while but the problem has come back. A complete waste, throwing good money after bad. Have never had a problem with my Bosch machine at a different property. Judging by the reviews on here I am not the only one to have a bad experience with Electrolux and won't be looking to repeat the experience.
Works ok – After 3 years got an intermittent problem. Machine often stopping halfway with screen blank or screen showing being ready to start the program .I found out that the program selection rotary switch was faulty. Normal for a mechanical switch. Bad design because an electronic rotary encoder instead will not break. However ordered this part from electrolux and fixed the problem : 807453304. Show details
Wish I hadn't bought this machine – I bought this machine in 2016. The last twelve months or so the electronics malfunction on every use, it is impossible to get a load to wash right through a cycle. Waste so much time just getting it to complete a load, it continually stops and flicks off and on jumping back to the beginning of a cycle. For example it took me nearly five hours of… Read more
regularly running in and out to press the button to get it to complete a load that should have taken 2.3 hour. I've had only three good years and there is only one person using it and only few light loads a week.. it is very frustrating. I think ill go back to a top loader when this one finally dies
Mixed views on this machine – Look, there are so many negative views of this device - together with mine! However, my experience is *generally* positive, until recently. Purchased Dec 2013, stupidly paid for the "extended warranty" for $119, which was an extra 3 years over the 2 years manuf. warranty. Obviously, this expired a year ago. {sad face emoticon} Purchased from… Read more
"The Electric Discounter", for $659. With the extended warranty, total of $778.
Family of 4 with teenage daughters, it did a fair bit of work, but nothing over the top. It has performed flawlessly, apart from the door hinge issue, which seems to be common. However, the door error problem was easily fixed by resetting the program, so it was merely annoying, not fatal to operation.
Performance has been LENGTHY on various programs, but still has been flawless.
Since the extended warranty expired in December 2018, the bloody thing has self-destructed! Firstly, the final spin cycle often (say one of every three washes) stopped at the "1 minute" mark, you couldn't open the door, and had to reset a 15 minute spin cycle just to be able to open the door. There was no imbalance problem, but the spin was shut off, and you had to re-spin on the 15 minute program.
OK, we could even live with that - as I say, not heavily used at all.
The machine ran perfectly until about August 2019, when suddenly the spin cycle at 1400 rpm caused uncomfortably loud noise, obviously the bearings.
We have lived with the noise, even dropping the spin from the default 1400 to 800 rpm, but it was still excessive. Now we have had a drive-belt fly off the pulley/motor (without damage - yesterday), but today after replacing the same drive-belt yesterday, it has shredded the belt, making it useless.
So, new washing machine purchased today. NOT an Electrolux.

Irritatingly annoyed – No wonder they have discontinued this line the machine failed to deliver on what promised 4 years and all is issued now it’s died, error error error is all said most cycles Show details
Disappointing. Stopped working after 4yrs. Don't buy – Door never closed well, needed to use knee to press door shut so it would lock and start. Stopped working after 4yrs only. No power at all going into machine. A write-off as call out fee to us is 170$. Parts very expensive. Show details
Disappointingly poor quality and not value for money – We bought our Electrolux 7kg frontloading washing machine EWF14742 5½ years ago on 20 December 2013. It was priced at $989 but we bought it on sale for $678. It only had a two year warranty. We originally bought this machine because the company’s vacuum cleaners had a good reputation so we thought we’d try the washing machines. We have followed… Read more
the directions in the user manual, regularly doing a maintenance wash and checking and cleaning the drain pump filter. We are just a two-person household so the machine hasn't had very heavy use. The problems we’ve had with the machine include: One of the drum lifters came off midwash in September 2016 causing numerous small tears in several items of clothing, including expensive woollen thermal clothing. This was after the warranty had expired so we paid $25 for the part (28/9/16). The same problem occurred with another drum lifter in May 2017 which also damaged clothing and cost another $25 to replace (19/5/17). We've also replaced the washer in the drain pump filter once because it was leaking. The door now doesn’t usually lock properly the first time it is shut because the metal around the door is thin and warps over time. This means that when you turn the machine on, it just beeps and you have to turn the program selector knob back to 0, open and shut the door again, then reselect your washing program and then press start again. The user manual says to leave the door open after use to prevent mould building up on the rubber door seal but leaving the door open puts additional pressure on the hinge. The rubber seal still gets mouldy anyway. Now the machine stops itself after a few minutes and turns itself off so is unusable. The repairer told us that the PCB Assembly Motor Control needs to be replaced. With labour, that will add up to $385 which is over 44% of the original cost of the machine. The repairer also said that the last machine he repaired had exactly the same part fail. He also seemed surprised that our machine had broken down because it wasn’t that old. The total repair bill over 5 ½ years will be $435. We would always prefer to repair rather than replace because of the environmental impacts of disposing of consumer goods. Even better we would prefer to be able to buy a reliable machine that actually lasts and has many years of problem-free use. We believe that this machine has not been of acceptable quality under Australian consumer law. We would appreciate Electrolux's assistance in finding a satisfactory resolution to this problem. The Electrolux website emphasises the company’s commitment to sustainability and placing the consumer at the heart of everything they do. The website says that the company helps “consumers care for their clothes by making them stay new and great looking for longer” and “delivers solutions that allow consumers to put their favourite clothes into the washing machine and be completely confident in the result.” I’m afraid this is not our experience. The website says that the company sees “opportunities where others see problems and make things happen”, that the company will “work together with customers … who share (their) desire to change for the better”, that the company will “always improve, think new and never settle.” We look forward to Electrolux's response because we haven't had any response from them so far after contacting them directly.
I don't think I will be buying a Electrolux washing machine if this is what they think is a good quality problem free product.
Stopped working. New parts expected to cost $600 plus service fee of $160 – Bought this washing machine exactly 5 years ago and it has failed. Only used the machine once a week. The washer has lost power completely and apparently requires a new motherboard which will cost $600 plus $160 for a technician to come to fix it. That is the entire cost of a new machine. I won’t buy another Electrolux item. Show details
Worst washing machine and equally appalling service from Electrolux – The washing machine has broken after less than 3 years of use. Electrolux has said that it is an electrical issue (not caused by use) but that I still have to pay over $500 to have the machine repaired. The person I spoke with accepted that they didn’t expect their machines to last 3 years and said if I have a problem I can go to the ACCC. Would… Read more
NEVER buy from Electrolux again. Awful machine and awful service.
UPDATE: After going to Consumer Affairs Victoria, Electrolux was forced to agree that I did not have to pay charges but they still managed to stuff up appointments. I still would never buy anything from Electrolux ever again.
Mould city! – Four and a half years of smelly, stiff cloths, it has been a very painful journey which we now have to end. After many attempts to resolve and doing everything under the sun to combat mould we are defeated. Literally have to throw it out. Will never touch another electrolux product again. Show details
Electrolux makes DISPOSABLE washing machines – We had a $1400 Electrolux washing machine that lasted little over 4 years (family of 4, moderate use). After paying $160 for their service person, we would told that it could cost $600 to fix it (replacing 2 computer boards inside). Electrolux gave us a voucher that partially covered the service call out fee, so we took the bait and bought this… Read more
Electrolux as a replacement.
Not much issue in the first 2 years which was expected as it was still in the warranty period. 2 months after the warranty expired the problems started - occasionally cycle wont finish and we would need to do a re-wash. it has since progressed and the machine just keep switching itself on and off in the middle of the cycle which happens 50% of the time so we often wake up with a unfinished load and can only try again later in the evening and hope for the best. It is frustrating knowing that 2 brand new Electrolux washing machines didnt even last 7 years in total which really speak volume of their poor quality!! Are these supposed to be disposable washing machines??
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. There will never be a third time!

Never Again buy one of these – Should never had bought this Electrolux, should have kept the LG. Takes hours to do a wash when the LG took only one. Have had this 3 years and have not been able to get my towels come out soft. Even after putting in softener, towels come out like cardboard. Show details
the worst buy – All of sudden I am experiencing electrical issues with the washing machine, when the cycle is on, all of sudden it stops, starts beeping, switching over a different cycle itself. Electricity is working in the house without any trouble. Seems like the electric panel of the washing machine is no longer in working condition. Usually, during washing, it stops & starts beeping, etc..all over again & again... Show details

Waste of money – Purchased this machine brand new 3 years ago and have never been able to get it to consistently run through a full cycle without stopping. I have to constantly re run cycles after it stops mid way to get anything washed. Now I cannot even get it to run for more than 3 minutes. Absolute waste of money. Show details

Will never purchase another Electrolux product – It takes hours to complete a simple load of washing... continually coming up with error codes... have to press the pause button over and over... very frustrating!!! Love and hate – The first machine I had blew up on the first month!! Luckily the warranty replaced it A bit hard to work out all the settings at first Took a while to get used to as I had a top loader previously this was my first go at don’t loader To be honest I’d never look back now It’s very loud when spinning and it shakes the whole house this annoys me but it does a good job cleaning my clothes Show details
Working Great! – I got given this machine when my Grandma moved into a nursing home and I love the 18min cycle. It’s a life saver, I’m washing 2-3 loads a week and it’s so quick and easy. I also use the extra rinse as I suffer from chronic dermatitis so just an extra rinse to get all the detergent out of my clothes. Only issue I have is it doesn’t wash my whites like I would like it to, don’t know if it’s just my machine or a fault for anyone else’s Show details
Good – I don't use it so often, about once every 2 or 3 weeks. I haven't had any issues with it so far. It gets the job done, the price is alright, water consumption is good, noise is acceptable, and capacity is enough for me. The timing feature is quite useful to me. Show details
Can't fault it - Quick wash setting is a life-saver! – Bought after price-matching a few online stores (some stores vary wildly with pricing!) - and have been satisfied with how this machine has performed. The quick setting in particular - at 18 minutes - is my go-to for work clothes and small jobs that I can't be bothered waiting hours for. And even at under twenty minutes, clothes come out clean… Read more
with never a need to rewash. The different settings such as vapour and easy iron at first seemed like gimmicks but I am impressed whenever I use them - even though they do add quite a long time onto a standard wash cycle. Overall, I'd certainly buy this machine again - or perhaps upgrade to machine with a higher load capacity.
Not the best washer – I inherited the EWF-14742 about one year ago and I was surprised at the long washing cycles one even 4 hours. Apart from the 18 mins wash which to tend to use all the time as it is saving me in both time and energy costs, the other longer wash cycles are not economic to run. I did on receiving the machine try the Easy Iron function and the Vapour… Read more
function. Both functions did not preform as the booklet said that they would e.g. the rpm on the Easy Iron was about the same as the rmp on the 18 min wash. When I phoned Electrolux customer care service the woman who took my call was both very unhelpful and rude to me which I certainly did not appreciate. All I was asking was I possibly doing something wrong with setting the Easy Iron as the rmp where certainly as fast as any other washing function. Would I recommend this machine, probably not for its lengthy washing cycles on most functions.
Good features – Timing features are useful (start in x hours, not able to specify a time like 3:30pm) Easy to change time of cycle, temperature of water 7.5kg capacity is big enough for a young professional couple Owned for 3 years+ and never had issues with breakdowns, maintenance or leaks, expect to be able to use it for at least 7 years Show details
Great washing machine – Clothes always come out clean as you'd expect, it's not too noisy (apart from the beeping when it's done) and there are plenty of options so you can do your washing quickly. That's an important step if you're thinking about buying one, make sure you remember to click the timer button because I didn't and the first wash I did took about 3 hours. It now takes about 1 hour for a normal load. Show details
Great machine! Love it! – This machine is great! With the slightly reduced dimensions it was able to fit in a small space (depth wise). Never had an issue with wash quality. In the 2 years i have owned the machine it has never missed a beat. Quiet, and a good spin speed for the price at the time. Good selection of wash cycles. Good work electrolux! Show details
Washes well but rubber seals grow mold! – Bought this machine in May 2016. It washes well, most of the time (have noticed some dark stains in the clothes on occasion which I suspect is due to the mold which I will get to). It’s not too loud and spin cycle is good. However we noticed that mold was growing around the rubber seal. Upon further inspection I noticed that the mold had grown all… Read more
around the entire inside of the rubber seal (a part that is not visible unless you physically fold/bend it over). I tried to clean it with everything I could think of but by that time the majority of the mold had already stuck to the rubber. After every wash I use a cloth to clean around the rubber seal and the cloth always ends up with dirty from the slime/mold! When using a toothbrush to clean the inner rubber (the part that needs to be folded over) I was able to reach behind the inner seal to collect an unhealthy amount of black dirt/mold/whatever!!! I was mortified!!! The awkward angle meant I couldn’t reach all of it!
To make matters worse I contacted Electrolux and because the rubber seal is not covered under warranty (convenient) I was advised to clean and dry the machine after every second wash!? I’m sorry but I have never heard of this before. Although I understand that regular care and maintenance cleaning of the machine is necessary, and that it is important to leave the door open (which we always do) I'm not sure whether this type of regular cleaning is necessary for a household appliance that primarily deals with water. Aside from that I have never experienced this problem with other machines in the past.
I also contacted the customer care with photographs showing the extent of the problem and they simply quoted what is written in the user manual about leaving the door open after washes. They then suggested that I use a mixture of lemon juice and bicarb soda to clean the mold - I had already tried that, but that is not the point! Why is this happening in the first place?! It seems that due to the design of the machine, water reaches and remains in sections of the rubber seal that eventually causes mold. Like I said I have had many machines in the past and have NEVER had to deal with mold. The customercare response was unsatisfactory especially given the amount of details I provided them... And for this I will never purchase another Electrolux again, and I suggest people consider this before purchasing a machine like this one.
Worst washing machine ever! – I have to wonder if the salesperson was on commission when she recommended this machine. It has frustratingly long cycles or a short one that is so inefficient you have to respin the clothes. The door jammed closed, the new door lock took 3 weeks to arrive. When it happened a second time last week, I decided to cut my losses and replace it a Fisher and Paykel ( should have stuck with them - great machines) after only two years. Show details
