A possible dud – Our new Electrolux front loader is one month old, and it's just started leaking water from underneath the machine. A repair agent is arriving tomorrow to investigate. This is very disappointing and I hope it is not a sign of more problems to come. On a positive note it seems to wash and spin our clothes very well, but the flooding is not particularly helpful. We previously owned an LG which lasted for 7 years. Show details
Good Washing Machine, but needed computer board replacement – It cleans clothes pretty well. It has a good selection of washing cycles to choose from. 8Kg is the largest size load and as long as it's not 'jam-packed' with clothes, it washes pretty well. I like the Delicate cycle for small wash loads and the 'Hand Wash' cycle, really gentle. I like that you can also adjust the time each cycle will run for… Read more
(from 1.5 hours or more, you can reduce to 30mins if you want to.) It's pretty quiet and it beeps when the load is finished, so you know when to hang out the clothes. The only thing is that recently we had to replace the computer board that runs all the cycles. This was after about 8 years, so I'm fairly happy that we could fix it ourselves by ordering the part. Would have liked to see it run for at least 10 - 12 years without fail though.
Absolute rubbish! – We purchased our machine in 2012, we had the odd fault code come on during warranty period but they usually went away after turning machine on and off. Two months after extended warranty expired we had to have door seal replaced because washing machine continually leaked water. We have had to have the pump replaced and now after 5 years the… Read more
bearings have gone and the machine has to be replaced!!! This was not a cheap washing machine and I would expect it to last longer than 5 years for the price. As an aside we also purchased Electrolux appliances for our kitchen, the double oven constantly gives error codes and our very expensive range hood stopped working completely after 2 years! I would recommend to anyone to stay well away from any Electrolux products, as from my experience they are not worth the expense.

8 wonderful years of non-stop use – I can't say enough about this machine. Washes clothes fine, time management is great when I need it and best of all for a cold water wash only takes 30min at a minimum. Can't believe all these bad ratings. What are people doing with their machines. I have had mine for 8 years with the first break down!! If I needed to replace I would stick to the updated version of this machine!! And no, not quiet but not load either, it does go up to 1200rpm!
Great machine, Time managing – I have this machine for 18 months now. We use it about 6-7 times a week. We have 2 kids so have school uniform, dirt etc. There are many programs including a hand wash and delicate so I always use the machine and not my hands. It let you control the time and the spin and the temperature. I like it! Time manager, lots of programs, allows you to change temp/ spin. It doesn't have a program for half a load Show reply
Never dissappoint – First front loader ever bought and never disappointed. Delivered on both energy saving and water saving and so quiet I often forgot I got washing on! (Until the final spin cycle starts or when it beeps at the end). I'm not sure why other reviewers had so much problems, but it's been two years and it's still working happily. The cotton spin… Read more
cycle can be quite hard on the fabric, so have kept most washing in 'Delicates' setting. Cotton setting (longest setting) can get around 2-3 hours, so delay setting is very convenient to set up washing to finish as I wake up or arrive home. Energy efficient, reliable, delay setting Spin cycle can be too hard on cottons

Very disappointed with Electrolux – I purchased this Electrolux EWF 1282 model front loader washing machine. From the beginning of the early stages of the machines use it was playing up. Not functioning as intended, not draining properly, the control panel kept on coming up with errors E24 E 10. This was the biggest mistake as a consumer to purchase this brand. has run out but after doing some investigating as a consumer and what my options are under the Consumer Act Law I will be following this up with Electrolux as this washing machine was never fit for purpose and has been nothing but a headache and has caused unwanted stress. Hopefully Electrolux will assist in supporting me as a consumer
Second fail in 7 years – Our Electrolux EWF 1282 Died just outside of normal warranty, but fortunately inside the extended warranty (dead main control board). Service guy fixed it no probs and it continued to work for another year or two. Just died again, has locked symbol in display and door won't open, even after manually draining using the tube. Electrolux I like your old stuff better than your new stuff.....
Will never buy Electrolux again – $1500 washing machine....EWF1481 doesn't even last 6years and this is the second breakdown! First breakdown was E20 error and now it's computer is completely dead. The provider and Electrolux insist 6years is sufficient despite the U.S Electrolux front loaders ALL having 10yr guarantees. If your in Australia just Don't buy one it's not worth the drama. Problem after problem with Electrolux EWF 1282 washing machine – Our Electrolux EWF 1282 keeps breaking down. We do all washing in accordance with spec requirements but still continue to have problems. Customer service is less than helpful, especially if the warranty is expired. Our warranty only just ran out just before our door access handle snapped off. This resulted in spending a lot of money to have it… Read more

Will NEVER buy an Electrolux again!!! – After owning my expensive washing machine for just under 5 years it decided to break down 3 days before Xmas. I had to wait till the new year for a repair man to take a look. After charging me $100 he informed me that there were 2 large cracks in the drum and that's why there was water all over my floor and it would cost between $500-$800 to… Read more

Worst washing machine I have ever owned EWF 1282 – Most expensive washing machine I have ever owned and by far the worst . We are a family of six, in a period of six years our EWF 1282 has broken down four times . Luckily when I purchased this machine I also purchased an extended four year warranty, so with the factory two year warranty and the four year extended warranty it is now not under… Read more
warranty anymore . The very last day of our warranty sure enough here we go again it breaks down :(. This is the fifth time , that's like almost every year at least one break down. I am very dissatisfied with this machine, one would think that Electrolux would call back this product and replace it with a product which actually performs.
Here we go again – Not long ago I wrote a review on the Electrolux dryer. Not a great experience....... Now it is time for the mighty EWF 1282... Lets go back in time to when things were happy. The machine looked nice and was so quiet....what was not to like?
About 3 weeks later the machine was gently whirring away in the kitchen while I was watching TV when a god awful noise started coming from the other room. I ran into the kitchen to see the washing machine bouncing across the freshly sanded and lacquered floor leaving dents as it went.
I jumped on top of it while my wife managed to switch off the power.
During it's exit it also managed to destroy a section of the kitchen bench.
Dutifully the supplier was called the next day and a repair rep was sent over that afternoon. GREAT!!
I was told straight away that it had been over sudsed.......??????? Not sure how that could happen after about 6 uses.
Damage......collapsed shock things, outer shell was stuffed by the drum bouncing off it, all the feet had to be replaced. Not to mention the damage to the bench and floor....
3 days later up and running again.
Next 2 years pretty good apart from it tripping the fuses every now and then.
Then I made the mistake of mentioning the washer in my review of the dryer and 3 weeks later.........
Dead main board and dead motor controller....no snap, crackle or pop......just stopped working.
So.......now I own another pile of Electrolux scrap metal that is not worth fixing.
I'm done.....no more Electrolux for me.

Electrolux EWF1282 – Hi Angry Mel, our electrolux machine has also stopped working and having a family of 6 without a washing machine is disastrous. Could you please send me the reset code as having this happen right before Christmas is an expense that we cannot afford. You buy what you think is a good machine only to find out that it is just rubbish with an expensive price tag.

The 1 star is for Electrolux after sales support – When the machine was working it was ok, once out of warranty Electrolux didn't want to know about a simple problem (not spinning and draining) that would have cost them $75.00 to fix - and this review would not be here. After reading through other peoples dramas with Electrolux, it will be a different brand for us next time as well - which will be soon.
Electrolux EWF1282 – We have had this machine 3.5 years serviced twice due to problems. Last problem, circuit boards for spinning and the controller both had it. Disgusting customer service from the office with a no care attitude. We have dumped this machine and would never buy Electrolux again or recommend one to any of our friends. Electrolux Time Manager Expires – Electrolux Time Manager stopped mid cycle and was unable to drain water after 3.5yrs. My research came across the re-set procedures. possible meanings!?
Surely it's better to have separate error codes. One could identify wiring and another diagnose motherboard.
Anyway, I suspect wiring has not been tampered with and so it's the motherboard. And, that's the life span of electronics. Electrolux could back their system and give a longer warranty on the motherboard.
I am cutting my losses and replacement is now a far superior machine. Time delay start Insufficient warranty on electronic components.
First wash and will not drain!!!!! – Have just bought the Electrolux Washing machine today and on the first wash, with no clothes in it, has come up with an E20 error and now won't drain. We have had to empty the machine from the drain at the front and to finish the cycle has filled again and now won't drain. Has not even had one item of clothing in it yet. Very unhappy. Why did I buy this? – We have had the machine for just over three years and it had been at best only an average washing machine. money going to the laundromat. The next issue came only 8 months after the first, with the display not working. Now four year after buying the machine the display is not working AGAIN, although I have been successfully using the machine without the display for two months now. The last straw was on the weekend, when the handle snapped off. I have just had a new top loading Simpson delivered, which I'm sure will be much better than the Electrolux which I hate!!!

Poor wash then control board failure 6 months after warranty expired – We purchased the EWF1282 from Bing Lee back in April 2011. We looked at at more expensive name brands at the time, but I figured that if a Miele lasted 10 years and the Electrolux lasted 5 years, then we'd just get a brand new Electrolux every 5 years and we'd be getting latest technology. Also it had a higher spin than most (at that time). Well… Read more
the first 2 years washes were fine (which is why I am not marking this review "terrible"). I only ever used "Cotton" setting, but my wife used a few more settings and paused the wash to add items occasionally which she thought was great. After about 2 years (end of warranty), some clothes sometimes came out with lint lines on them. Was odd but we thought it needed rinsing. At the 2 year and 6 month mark the machine stopped washing with error code E24 appeared. A repairer came out (for $100) and said it needed the control board replacing for maybe $300 and that it was not worth it - he suggested getting a new machine!
I jumped on the web and found service manuals, etc and after running through the diagnostics for the machine, confirmed his recommendation to replace the control board as it was not turning on the drain pump to get rid of the last bit of water at the end of a cycle - probably why our clothes were coming out with lint on them. I was going to do get and replace the board myself for $150 for the board, but reading the rest of these reviews has convinced me I would be throwing good money after bad as it seems common for the control board to fail within 3 years of usage, or for something else to fail.
We are now looking at anything European-made, particularly the Bosch WAS28440AU (2 year warranty), Siemens WM14S440AU (5 year warranty), or Miele W5741 (2 year warranty). Basically we want a 7.5kg+ machine that will last 5+ years. My stupid idea of buying something cheaper and buy it more frequently was stupid. Once you're happy with a machine we don't want to change and we don't want to be unable to wash for a week while looking for a new one, nor pay for a technichian to tell us what the issue is.
Edit 2013/11/02: As per the comments, [Personal Name Removed] from Eletrolux contacted me. She was nice and reasnaoble and put forward that a common cause of Control Board failure was overuse of washing powder. I don't think we overdo the washing power (actually we use a liquid) as we generally use half the recommended amount but who knows, maybe this particular model is susceptible to letting powder into the mechanism.
[Personal Name Removed] offered to get a Electrolux approved service person come out for $134 and Electrolux would provide spare parts for free, this in spite of the warrantee being 6 months expired . We struggled over this, as this particular model has a pretty poor record from these reviews (Note: not all Electrox models were like this!) We decided to do it to save the immediate $1300 cost of a new machine. Also the interior of the machine looks fine, so hopefully only the motherboard was at fault.
Either way a very positive experience dealing with [Personal Name Removed] from Electrolux. She was very helpful and did not disregard my reasons presented in my initial review, AND turned me around enough to give Electrolux another try. Did the job for 2 years. Could add extra washing during the cycle. Failed after 2 years, (warranty period + 1 day!)

Low Quality Product - Will never purchase another Electrolux product! – Purchased the Electrolux EWF1282 on four (4) years ago from Bing Lee. Since the warranty expired, the machine has broken down numerous times. The first major breakdown related to the left hand spring which supports the drum. Due to the constant vibration of the drum, the spring eventually wore through its support...which is just the thin top… Read more
plate....and the drum started crashing around inside the machine. Luckily we were home and managed to cut the power. This was repaired, and now the same thing has happened to the right hand spring! It wore through the supporting top plate, and the drum started crashing around. This time however, one of motor wires has been damaged, after it was cut by the sharp edge of the motor when it crashed into the frame of the machine. The wire has been repaired, but the drum will not rotate (can turn it though by hand). Have read out the error codes, and E9F appears which is apparently a communication error between the main board and the motor control board. This is an extremely dangerous design, and Electrolux should have recalled these machines and retrofitted the top plate with a more robust design! We have obtained a copy of the Tech data sheet, and Electrolux suggest checking the wires, replacing the main board or the motor control board! What a joke. This inop state is a direct result of the poor design. We will try to repair this machine, but we will definitely never purchase another Electrolux product. Electrolux should come to the party and provide the spare parts. 8kg capacity. Cheap. Low quality.
Rubbish – DO NOT buy this machine. We have had it for just over 3 years and it stopped working. The technician I got said that it was the slave controller and it needs to be replaced. here!! The most recent issue has been on-going now for over 6 weeks. It stared when my machine stopped half way through a cycle, the digital lights were flashing and I was unable to open the door even though I had turned the power off and I had a full load inside!! I then called a repairer who found that the barrel had snapped the hinge on the left hand side, which then dropped the barrel onto the wires below and severed them which explained why the digital power board wasn't working!
All of which was then repaired and it is still not working!! I am so not happy and have since heard from other friends who too have Electrolux products (washing machines in particular) that they too have had major issues!! I would love to know what happened to those 10/15/20 year warranties that we use to have for white goods? As a girl growing up I don't remember my parents ever having trouble with their white goods and some were Electrolux products!! As a wife to a tradesman and mother to two young kids I need to use my washing machine on a daily basis and am now having to travel 50kms per week to the closest laundromat to do my washing whilst I continue to wait for an answer as why it's not working and if we can get it fixed!!! Not happy at all!! Energy efficient; water efficient; washes clothes very well Once out of warranty all hell breaks loose!!

I explained to them if the pump parts are all moulded and can not be torn apart, then that's no point to call someone out. month ago when the machine started to turn itself on & off during operation. We had bought extended warranty with this product, due to it being very electrical and a big purchase $ wise, so thought it would be an easy process, ring up get someone out, get it fixed......Well we have been without a washing machine for just over a month, which is very inconvenient with a family of 4, 2 adults & 2 kids under 5.
Firstly the repairers wanted to order something before actually looking at it. The parts took over a week to get in and when the repairer actually came & looked at the machine, surprise surprise, the parts ordered were not the ones that were needed to fix it . Ordered another part, a week later they call to say that part is unavailable from the manufacturer and that the warranty people would be calling to replace the appliance.
The organising of the replacement has taken another week through the warranty, where we have to go to their designated store, not of our choice, to get a new washing machine. Kind of happy about getting a brand new machine, just not at all happy with the time it has taken. We are hoping not to get another Electrolux. This brand just didn't go the distance in life expectancy and couldn't be repaired. Was great during its short life. Cleaned clothes well. Operated quietly. Short life span, Poor warranty service.
