Designed to fail - what a load of rubbish – Terrific vacuum and powerhead, when they are actually working. Mine just died again (3 months out of warranty) and looking back through the maintenance history I see ... * broken handle on hose - hose replaced under warranty * broken connector in telescopic wand - wand replaced under warranty * bristles fell out of floor brush - brush replaced… Read more

under warranty

* floor brush broke at the neck - refused warranty repair (I forget the reason given, but it was crap)

* handle on hose broke again - taped it up with gaffer tape (makes it stronger - very poor design)

* won't start - power up, 2 red lights followed by auto light, then all off and it won't go.

It's out of warranty and I'm reluctant to spend any money on it because I know it will just keep breaking. Cheap plastic parts all over it that just will not last.

My mum had 2 electrolux vacuums, that lasted maybe 50 years. They were capital Q Quality. Not any more.

Ticks alot of boxes – After looking around and a lot of research this vacuum seemed to tick all the boxes but despite some positives it has turned out to be a costly mistake. PROS: Quiet. Great suction. Good value compared to a Dyson. Well know brand. Features. Power Head hasn't broken yet. CONS: Cord only retracts fully sometimes. The vacuum… Read more

body doesn't have enough ground clearance to run over the cord without getting stuck and dragging on it and when you try to lift it over the cord it then drags on the back of the body.

The remote on the handle is finicky and you will either press the wrong button, turn it off by accident or have to wait for it to react and realize you've pressed it too many times.

The included combination tool is only good for odd jobs at best.

The hose requires an adapter if you want to use any tools with it and even then good luck trying to vacuum the car as the handle is too big and awkward.

The handle doesn't feel like it's in the right place (too high) and is too weak and flimsy for use with the heavy power head(put the power head on, extend the handle to its full length and lift the head off the floor by just the handle).

The hose is an odd length so that its just long enough to get twisted around and put pressure on the already flimsy handle.(needed to be slightly longer or shorter)

The top compartment is too flimsy/flexible so it takes a few goes to line it up so that it will close properly.

The hard floor tools plastic joint stretches and will come apart after a year or so of use($80 to replace or you have to buy an adapter and a generic one).

The cost of spare parts.

Poor customer service.

I bought this vacuum in 2012 for $600 and only use it maybe once a fortnight. I will also add that I have treated it carefully. My previous vacumm was a $99 Hoover and it lasted 7 years.

Oh and if the handle breaks like mine you need to replace the entire hose because of the cable for the power head at a cost of almost $250.

AVOID

Bad Quality, Too Heavy – Our hoover upright finally gave out so we thought that an 'Electolux' would ge a great replacement. Well know brand. It is way too hard to push on our short pile carpet on auto, Atfer a while the cord will not retract. Plastic parts broken and noe have to replace the roller in the power head due to more plastic parts broken. Very distatisifed. Paid top dollar for this.

Extremely disappointed – I purchased an Electrolux purely by its reputation. I honestly thought the more you spend, the better the product. How wrong I was. It does not pick up dog hair, as stated, and it is so hard to push on top power. And I'm neither old nor unfit. Overall, I feel very let down, however I am stuck with it as I can not justify buying another. I vacuum… Read more

Brilliant suction, long electrical cord, but bulky and breaks too easily – I have had this vacuum cleaner for just over 2 years, and my reactions are mixed. First of all, the suction is brilliant! With other vacuum cleaners, the brush on the mouthpiece usually gets full of hair and dust, but with this one, that is all sucked in. I have a cat, and I think this vacuum cleaner is great for getting rid of pet hair. The… Read more

special carpet brush is also superb, it really makes mats and carpets look great.

A con with the superb suction is that the mouthpiece nearly sticks to the floor, so it can be a bit hard to move around, and isn't as easy to manouvre as other vacuums I've had.

The main mouthpiece is also quite big, so you can't vacuum under low couches, which is a huge disadvantage.

Electrolux obviously don't want you to be able to use other attachments either, so they have designed angular attachments, so you can't use any other mouthpieces, which is annoying. So don't look under my couch...

The cord is very long, so you have good reach, without having to unplug it all the time.

The 3-in-1 brush isn't good. It is very flimsy, and broke within weeks. I had it replaced, but it isn't sturdy enough. The moving parts of it keep coming off. And again, because of the angular attachments, I can't use my old small mouthpieces, which have survived in perfect condition, even though the vacuum cleaners they came with are long dead.

On the metal hose you adjust the lenght with a plastic sliding button. This came off in less than a year. You can still adjust the lenght, but it shouldn't have broken so easily.

The plastic groove where you can attach the hose to the body of the vacuum cleaner when you store it, has also broken. Again, nothing vital for function, but says something about the lack of quality.

And a few days ago, the plastic handle where you attach the metal part of the hose to the plastic part, just broke off in two pieces. So until I can get it replaced, the vacuum cleaner can't be used at all.

None of these faults are because of misuse, the construction is just too flimsy. I have had other vacuum cleaners for a lot longer, and neither of these faults ever occured with them.

So really, function wise, this is easily the best vacuum cleaner I have owned. But when it comes to quality, and the design of the attachments, it is the worst. Amazing suction and great carpet brush mouthpiece Bad quality plastic parts, can't use other attachments, mouthpiece to big.

Electrolux Z90 – I replaced my old Electrolux with this model. It isn't anywhere as good as the old one. I have pets inside and just isn't great. Would like my old one back. The power head has cracked and now I can't use it. AS they are no longert available I will have to buy a new one now. NOT HAPPY

it's ok - i expected better – I brought this vacuum as I wanted a top range vacuum. I want to have my dogs inside but as I hate dog hair, I purchased this vacuum hoping to resolve this issue. The vacuum can't pick up clearly visible hairs that have only slightly threaded through the carpet. Also it can't manage grass seeds slightly stuck in the carpet. I expected better… Read more

because of the powerhead. A crack appeared after a few months in the plastic where the powerhead attaches to the hose and now a piece of plastic has fallen off. Also air is clearly escaping from the join on the hose to the pole. I'll be taking it for repair this week, maybe I got a dud. Certainly isn't the joy it claims it is. I think I'll go a miele next time. Shame I spent all that money. powerful machine, bags last ages, long pole and cord, I like how the head manouvers, controls on handle are handy heavy and bulky, expensive, power head noisy, not as sturdy as it appears, still doesn't pick up everything.

Excellent – I'm glad the salesman recommended this cleaner to me over a replacement dyson. Excellent suction, the brush really 'refreshes' the carpets, auto button on carpet is a help. Love this machine, will never go bag less again! I never thought I'd rave about a vacuum cleaner, but the difference in the clean compared to my Dyson is unbelievable. Motor… Read more ·  2

brush makes the carpets look (and feel) fantastic. Auto button great so don't have to fight the vacuum to clean. Full power on hard floors picks the dust up from a foot away !!! Bags to buy were not expensive so happy to go back to a bag vacuum, and these bags close themselves off when you take them out. A bit big, but still fits in my cupboard.
