Was a great vacuum for a while, but not now! – I purchased this vacuum approx. 6 years ago and about 2 weeks later the motor died. I contacted the Electrolux Help Line and they arranged for a replacement vacuum to be sent out. The new vacuum turned up within 5 days and the old one was taken away. About 2 years later the power head stopped working and again I phoned the Electrolux Help… Read more

Line and again they were great and replaced the power head free of charge. The new power head arrived a few days later.

Over the past couple of months the power head has again to begin to die (cuts in and out when in use). This time when I contacted Electrolux Help Line the service was terrible, didn't even listen to what I had said and straight away asked if I'd like to order a new part. When I explained that this machine and parts had been covered under warranty in the past, she tried to look up my previous history and said there wasn't anything coming up with my number. She read the number back to me that she used, which wasn't the one I had given her!

When you pay $700 for a vacuum you'd expect better service and longevity than 6 years! Really disappointed in Electrolux, especially when I have purchased their products for so many years.

When the vacuum is working it is great, quite powerful and gets all the dog hair, fluff and dust up from the carpets and rugs. Just a shame it doesn't last for longer. Guess I'll be looking around for a better brand vacuum now.

Three expensive repairs and a waste of money – Two Electrolux vacuum cleaners have provided excellent performance for me for the past 50 years but I bought this one after seeing how quiet my son's Ultra-One was in 2011. Although it is superb when working, It has been nothing but trouble ever since, the first repair being within warranty but the last one in 2012 cost me hundreds of dollars and… Read more

yesterday 26th Sept 2020 it lights up when plugged in but refuses to go when you push the button on the handle. I have reached the stage where I don't know whether to take it to the tip or spend another $300 or so on repairs. Doubt whether I would ever risk another Electrolux product. This one must have cost the company millions and trashed the brand for us unlucky customers.

WORST VACCUM EVER – Worst Vaccum EVER PURCHASED!!!! ANOTHER issue. Vacuum is turning on then stops after 3 seconds and flashes 2,3,4 over and over until it restarts. I've changed the filters and bag. Still not working. What's wrong now? Seriously worst vacc ever. In the 3 years we've owned it its had that many problems. Wish we had got anything else. Show details

Outstanding Vacuum -better than my old dyson – This is the best vacuum I have owned. It surpasses my old Dyson easily. It's suction is fabulous, it's not too noisy and the start button on the handle is an excellent feature. The 3 in 1 attachment on board is very convenient. I love the extra long power cord as I don't need to change power points. I would definitely recommend this machine and am a bit bewildered by any negative review.  Show details

Perfect Little Vaccum – Purchased this vaccum from JB Hifi, and it has been a dream, has very very powerful suction to the point where it nearly cant be moved off the floor! Thats impressive. Not sure why other users have rated this low, as it comes with three different feet, and an all in one tool, and for 2 years now nothing has broken or missed a beat. 5 stars from me.  Show details

I'll never buy another Electrolux vaccum ever again – I write this to warn other consumers. We purchased this machine from Harvey Norman in Auckland and luckily we took out an extended in store warranty because in it's troubled life it has gone through a power head repair and a replacement of the complete power head and hose assembly. Small things like the plastic clip holding the handle upright… Read more

whist not in use broke earlier on as well. Now a the replacement power head has died after 3 years of occasional use and recently the dust bag cover won't open any more and is jammed closed to the extent that we have broken the 3 in 1 compartment lever off trying to get the bag compartment lid to raise.

To cap it off the power switch has failed and only puts power on for a few seconds before shutting the unit down requiring a reset by turning power off at the wall switch to repeat the process. It still does it with the hose unplugged and the Hepa filter removed indicating a more serious fault.

As it is now out of extended warranty we won't be investing any more money on this expensive piece of rubbish or any of it's successors..

Disappointing costly item – We purchased our Z8871P in July 2011 because our son had been diagnosed with dust allergies. Unfortunately the power head (our reason for spending so much) started with intermittent problems about one year later. It stopped working altogether at about the two year mark. We continued to use the cleaner with the other head but the plastic handle… Read more

started cracking at the joins about 4 years in. I taped it up but eventually it just fell apart. Was online looking at replacement parts when I stumbled across this review page. Definitely won't go there now. Instead I will use our 18 year old Eureka cheap cleaner that still works. Funny how a cheap cleaner can have parts that last 3 times longer than an expensive one. I don't know what other electrolux products are like but I won't be purchasing them after this experience and I will continue to share my experience with others if the conversation comes to vacuums. Disappointing costly item!

Absolutely the worst $700 ever spent – Awful product and service help abysimal. Purchaced brand new in 2005 and within 2 months the s-bag access lever had snapped off. Ok fine, cannlive without it. Alas, just 2 months after the 2 year warranty ran out the vacuum cleaner died! Close to $500 was spent on this crap!

Curiously, the first Electrolux vacuum cleaner, also with a 2 year warranty, lasted only 5 months past the warranty expiring!!

Designed to fail - what a load of rubbish – Terrific vacuum and powerhead, when they are actually working. under warranty

* floor brush broke at the neck - refused warranty repair (I forget the reason given, but it was crap)

* handle on hose broke again - taped it up with gaffer tape (makes it stronger - very poor design)

* won't start - power up, 2 red lights followed by auto light, then all off and it won't go.

It's out of warranty and I'm reluctant to spend any money on it because I know it will just keep breaking. Cheap plastic parts all over it that just will not last.

My mum had 2 electrolux vacuums, that lasted maybe 50 years. They were capital Q Quality. Not any more.

Poorly made – Pretty much the same experience as everyone else here. First the powered brush stopped working because a flimsy rubber belt inside snapped and now the handle snapped in my hand. NZ$209, just for the powerhead!!! This vacuum would be great if it didn't always break down. Apparently my powerhead needs a new motor which pretty much means I need to buy a new one, I just bought one nine months ago!!!! was out of warranty with the same issue, this time costing me approximately $250 to once again replace the circuit board that had shorted. My vacuum broke down yet again within a month of that repair which them prompted me to write to Electrolux customer complaints (after speaking with Consumer Affairs regarding my dissatisfaction & ongoing failure with this product) to request a total refund of my machine and the repairs I had outlayed up till then citing that it was a lemon and that I had lost complete faith in the product. Needless to say this did not have the desired effect either. I was instructed that my only option at this time was to have it repaired yet again as the repairs done previously meant it had broken down during this short warranty period. Much to my frustration it broke down again. Same issue. This time my husband called and spoke with Electrolux senior management regarding the ongoing issues we were experiencing only to be told that the machine was now more than 3 years old and that they would not refund but rather offer a discount on a new machine. Thanks but no thanks! My husband proceeded to have this machine repaired yet again at a further cost of approximately $250 despite my warnings not to do so. Guess what? 6 months later and it has broken down again. I will never buy another Electrolux again.

Electrolux Quality Takes a hit – I have always associated Electrolux with high end quality products. Their reputation has been totally destroyed in my mind with the UltraOne vacuum. I have had mine for 3 years. It has quit 4 times, each time related to poor quality components i.e. circuit boards and wiring. Trust is lost, I will never buy the Electrolux brand again.

Picks up more dust than any other vacuum I've EVER had! – Im really confused about the other reviewers comments, cause this would have to be the best vacuum I've ever owned. carpets! I also love the fact that the controls are on the handle. i dont have to bend down and turn it off every time i need to move something. I have a very small laundry so i like that i can store it upright and the handle slips in to a slot behind the machine. The cord sometimes gets stuck but i pull it out slightly and it retracts easily. What vacuum don't you have to do that for!?

I use the little tool that comes with it to vacuum my cupboards, bathroom (all the hair), fly screens, blinds and even my indoor plants (on level 1).

Ive had this one for 1 1/2 years now and my aunty has had hers for over a year too.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a completely dust free home.

discount on a new one. Well I didn't feel like buying a new Electrolux that's for sure! Luckily I kept googling for an answer on how to fix this machine and found one on fixya.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t6122912-electrolux_ultraone_today_when

If you have basic soldering skills, or know someone who does, this is a very easy fix. A wire had come off one of the three prongs on the end of the hose which plugs into the vacuum cleaner. Looking at the quality of the soldering I believe there is a manufacturing problem - the soldering is not of good enough quality to withstand day to day use. It comes apart too easily. It might last a couple of years but after that its a problem just waiting to happen. Once soldered back the machine works very well (except for the power head of course) but I expect one of the other wires in the hose to come off in the future. Only thing is next time I will know how to fix it.

Ticks alot of boxes – After looking around and a lot of research this vacuum seemed to tick all the boxes but despite some positives it has turned out to be a costly mistake. PROS: Quiet. body doesn't have enough ground clearance to run over the cord without getting stuck and dragging on it and when you try to lift it over the cord it then drags on the back of the body.

The remote on the handle is finicky and you will either press the wrong button, turn it off by accident or have to wait for it to react and realize you've pressed it too many times.

The included combination tool is only good for odd jobs at best.

The hose requires an adapter if you want to use any tools with it and even then good luck trying to vacuum the car as the handle is too big and awkward.

The handle doesn't feel like it's in the right place (too high) and is too weak and flimsy for use with the heavy power head(put the power head on, extend the handle to its full length and lift the head off the floor by just the handle).

The hose is an odd length so that its just long enough to get twisted around and put pressure on the already flimsy handle.(needed to be slightly longer or shorter)

The top compartment is too flimsy/flexible so it takes a few goes to line it up so that it will close properly.

The hard floor tools plastic joint stretches and will come apart after a year or so of use($80 to replace or you have to buy an adapter and a generic one).

The cost of spare parts.

Poor customer service.

I bought this vacuum in 2012 for $600 and only use it maybe once a fortnight. I will also add that I have treated it carefully. My previous vacumm was a $99 Hoover and it lasted 7 years.

Oh and if the handle breaks like mine you need to replace the entire hose because of the cable for the power head at a cost of almost $250.

AVOID

Poor plastic design, and not fit for purpose – Since purchasing this, the power head, 3 in one tool, and cover have all broken. It's not engineered for appropriate domestic use. The motor seems fine it's just the plastic casing. Would recommend you reed casings and challenge the 1year warranty on the product to make sure that the company honours consumer law obligations, and don't just pump out products just designed until the end of warranty.

The turbobrush is great for picking up dog hair, we leave it on most of the time. Not the same Electrolux my parents worshiped – This vacuum cleaner sucks. and not in a good way. I grew up with Electrolux, my parents had their vacuum for 15 years. quality of the UltraOne is let down by cheap brittle plastic. The catch that holds the dust bag cover has broken twice ($15 each), the plastic that holds the extension tube where the electrical contacts are for the power head have broken ($88 for a new tube). Two power heads have just "stopped working" ($240 each), The plastic where the handle with the switches joins the extension tube has cracked and after replacing the whole suction tube/handle (which cost $170) and now the dust cover has broken a third time and there must be a broken wire or something in the suction tube because the buttons on the handle are intermittent and hardly ever work and causing the vacuum to just turn off. This is going to cost me another $180!! AGAIN!! I can buy a whole new vacuum cleaner for that much!!

I will say the first 6 months or so were great, then it gradually fell to pieces.

I've spent $710 for the original vacuum cleaner, $768 on repairs and now need to pay another $180 ??

Harvey norman customer service is rubbish. They said the Electrlux UltraOne was the best cleaner they sell when I bought it. They laughed at me for not buying their extended warranty when it failed out of warranty just over a year later. Now Harvey Norman say Electrolux are so unreliable they don't sell them any more.

I would avoid Harvey Norman because of bad sales and support. And avoid Electrolux because the only thing premium about their products is the "look of them" and the price. The actual quality is worse than the cheaper Japanese/Taiwanese products. At least with those you get what you paid for. I could have purchased a brand new vacuum cleaner every 6 months and still been ahead.

Very disappointed.
