1 hour on hold and hung up on before I could talk to someone, another 1.5 hours on hold only to speak to a representative that could not give me the most basic information due to no access to information, not even the slightest attempt to assist me in anyway, was told best to email my inquiry and expect at least a week wait to get a reply, its… Read more

been 3 weeks and no reply, now trying to contact them directly again same thing 1 hour on hold and hung up on, 1/2 hr wait hung up on, 3rd attempt to get through & still waiting. I suppose if you deadset HATED all of your customers and potential customers this is how you would run a company, a 135.7 million dollar profit but obviously no room to improve their call centre, very typical of a big essential company. All I want to know if roughly what cost I am up for and a rough time frame to have 3 phase power installed to an existing connection, this seems to be a very difficult bit of information to get, despite this company doing millions of jobs, logging all of it and would be an easy bit of maths to do and pass on.

What gives an Energex worker the right to park in a disabled park and then meander down the street??? He put his flashing orange light on as if that makes it okay. It was in Cooroy this morning. Not nice. There aren’t a lot of disabled parks. He had no right to do that. Show details

Want to give a zero rating – June 2020: - I hear a vehicle enter our property and walk around to front to investigate, our family dog beside me. - Driver sees me and our dog and drives out, ignoring my calls and whistles. - Car was not marked in any way with identification. - Sent an estimated meter read because of "unrestrained dog". - Wrote letter of complaint to Energex… Read more

to be told I was a liar. I was apparently not there and the dog was dangerous. Meter reader drove his own car, as Energex vehicle was being service. - 20 years plus here and we have always had a dog or dogs. Two previous meter readers this year have said our dog is listed as friendly. No recognition of this from Energex. SEPTEMBER 2020: - Return from holiday to find note from Energex saying that meter could not be read because the meter reader "could not confirm dog was restrained". - Send a second letter of complaint to Energex, with a copy of receipt that verified that our dog was at a boarding kennel on the day of the supposed meter read. - Energex finally reply to say it our fault and we will continue to have estimated reads as we have a dangerous dog. - (Dog is a dearly loved family pet that does not even bark, when someone comes to our house.) - By Energex logic, no one should have their meter read as there could be an unrestrained dog on the premises. CONCLUSION: Energex has a monopoly on an essential service and in the absence of any competition, I feel that there is a total lack of courtesy, transparency and accountability. Maybe it's just me though.

Just like to thank all you guys who have probably not had a decent break since Cyclone Alfred. We were without power for 4 days and happy to wait our turn, rejoiced when it came back. So a big thankyou to you all, you were out in all weathers and all hours I would imagine trying to get the communities back on the grid. I hope you get a bonus for this you deserve it. Show details

Energex Meter readers refusing to read meters claiming they are unable to confirm a dog is restrained. Everyone has heard of cases where a meter reader decides to not read a meter because an unrestrained dog MAY be present. Some readers are great. they will come to a front door of a house. ring a bell alerting the owner if home. they will work… Read more

with owners to attempt access. some will do everything they can to avoid reading a meter just because they want to avoid. they will claim they "felt unsafe". What both meter readers and a lot of customers dont realize is that feeling unsafe is actually a legal minefield that exposes the actual meter reader to potential legal penalties and defamation action.

Explanation: Risks of Assumption-Based Assessments

OHS Requirements

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies mandate that all risk assessments be based on objective, factual evidence, not assumptions, gut feelings, or indirect indicators.

Meter readers or other field staff cannot legally skip verification or record hazards based solely on perceived signs; OHS expects a proper, documented inspection.

Failure to conduct a factual assessment can jeopardize workplace safety, putting both staff and the public at risk, and may lead to regulatory penalties or enforcement actions under workplace safety law.

Defamation Risk

Publishing notices that falsely indicate a hazard—such as asserting a dog is present when the customer has confirmed there is none—constitutes publication of untrue information.

This can damage the customer’s reputation, creating potential civil liability for defamation.

Even internal records marked incorrectly can have legal consequences if they are later relied upon, shared, or referenced in dispute.

Consequences of False Assessments

OHS penalties can include fines, mandatory training, or other disciplinary action for staff or the organization if assessments are not based on verifiable facts.

Legal liability for defamation arises when false records are published or communicated, regardless of intent.

Both risks reinforce the necessity for evidence-based assessments, proper documentation, and verification before issuing any notice.

Summary: OHS policy requires factual, evidence-based assessments. Making assumption-based judgements, skipping verification, or marking hazards without direct confirmation is a breach of both safety obligations and defamation law. Companies and staff can face serious penalties—legal, regulatory, and reputational—if inaccurate information is recorded or communicated about a customer’s property.

In some cases meter readers openly state they don't trust Energex access notes so refuse to look at them. This is also actually a procedural breach of OHS law as access instruction notes are generally placed to facilitate worker safety.

Energex will send a site assessor out to document compliance if you complain to their oversight company energy queensland that the staff are breaching relevant ohs law. the executive management of energy queensland are disclosed on the energy queensland website and a strongly worded email, without going overboard, will encourage action.

Once a site inspector has reported that your property is compliant for manual reads this is factual OHS evidence.

So we have just experienced a widespread power outage affecting over 50,000 customers due to storms with destructive winds. In our case, we live in Valdora and when power goes out, like most residents, we rely on pumped water from rain water tanks. No power means no water. Out comes the trusty generator but soon after running it, the gremlins… Read more

got into the inverter circuit and it was no longer with us. So what does one do... naturally you want power back asap... you have a freezer with meat, my wife has a medical requirement to self administer a monthly injection which must be maintained at a specific temperature in the fridge, and who wants to crawl into bed not having had a bath or shower? On top of it, no internet, no TV and the phone signal is so poor (since the 3G shutdown) you can't use mobile internet. So you walk around outside jabbing the phone towards the powers above trying to snatch enough signal to navigate to the energex outage finder in the hope of getting some inkling as to when power will be restored. It's 10am on day 2 and eventually after retrieving your unresponsive mobile from the hedge, you finally have enough momentary signal to get that critical piece of info from the energex website - Next Update at 8pm! That's it? This great Australian energy supplier with many years of experience effecting outage repairs, managing distribution networks and implementing new projects has no idea of when they might restore power? The field personnel are no doubt slogging it out in trying conditions, night or day, rain or sweltering conditions. But this is about the lack of communication from the leadership layer. Next update at 8pm! What does that even mean? Based on their responses to previous outages it means sweet blow all nothing! At 15 minutes prior to the next update, the time and date will automatically be incremented by another 24 hours. Does the management team have any idea how important it is to get quality information out to their customers who are trying to make informed decisions under difficult circumstances? What is this ongoing pending update that never arrives? 19:45... in comes the scheduled update to the update.... next update at 8pm the next day!! The meat has defrosted, the $800 injection is useless. Generators are sold out... and now we must wait another 24 hours for another string-along update. Does the CEO of Energex think this is appropriate? It is simply inadequate, useless information. Is all the knowledge of past experiences unusable that as a great organisation, they can't even come up with a some informed targeted time of restoration? They can't share where or what they are dealing with. Instead they treat their customers with disdain, if not fools? Three hours after the update to the update , the power is restored - 21 hours before the next update was to take place. Clearly, the core values of Integrity, respect and honesty are sorely lacking. The downside is that so many Australians are left in the dark by an organisation, in more ways than one. What will the next update be - Exenergex?

Yet another power outage from poorly built and maintained infrastructure. Back on the generator again, no grid power, 20kw of solar useless to me as it will not back feed to grid because of anti islanding issues unless I get a backup interface inverter, along with either a battery that will allow me to get off grid power providing there is enough… Read more

light for the solar panels, and the battery is large enough to supply the power after the sun goes down. All this because Energex cannot handle even the smallest of storms, & a half the city of Brisbane is left without power again.

I grew up in North QLD & did definitely experience some power outages during major weather, not some 20 minute downpour that Energex Brisbane calls a fierce thunderstorm.

Going to get extra fuel for the generator, petrol prices jumped 50 cents a litre in less than 90mins.

This is shameful taking advantage of people.

Not only don’t we have power now, & because we are semi rural, which means probably 5 plus days without power again. Energex blames it on the weather. They are happy to take your money at high costs for “infrastructure rebuilding” but not supply the source of product we are paying for.

We need to add extra items to an already expensive solar panel installation, then lose all the power & money that we would be sending back to the grid.

This leads us to be ripped off again by fuel stations that see opportunities, on top of BOM that incorrectly cannot give us a decent weather report on a new MEGA APP. This outage once again will cost us $300 plus in fuel & time fees for a company that should get the job done correctly in the first place.

No power equals no sewage, or water here, but Energex can make us wait again.

Yep, I’m going to fork out another 40k so I can have a power source that will work the way it should, & be done with high energy prices, & constant power outages from Energex all because of poor performance blaming it on a major storm that other places call them a decent downpour.

via the EWOQ and AER the regulator as what they did was nothing yes than fraud as I am off grid as from mid august I have lived off battery.

Energy when the do not send out meter readers they use an estimated bills and this system is a fraud as you will loose because I am off grid and track my readings every day they were caught red handed commiting in my opinion fraud.

If you get a meter reader out take photos of the reading or a bill if you thing there is an error as if a meter reader come you are in trouble.

I will win as I have so much I managed to rework the dodo bill out and once that was done re did the origin bill and I can show fraud
