Good hardware - awful software. Exports energy to the grid when it shouldn’t. I’m effectively subsidizing the energy producer as I’m giving them energy at 7v per kWh which I then have to buy back at 30 c per kWh. Until they rewrite their software and fix this and other issues I recommend staying away from Enphase. Show details

I installed an Enphase system six years ago. The system worked fine for the first five and a half years. Then the Enphase Gateway failed. I contacted the installer, who contacted Enphase. The warranty on the Gateway is five years. Enphase’s response: no support whatsoever, I was told I had to buy a new Gateway at full retail price and pay for the… Read more
installer to replace it. The bill for this is just short of $1,000.
Bear this in mind if you are thinking of paying the significant premium for an Enphase system. They will provide NO SUPPORT beyond their strict warranty period.
If I’d installed a different system I likely could have got a 10 year warranty on the inverter. Now I’m being expected to pay nearly $1,000 to replace a component that failed six months after its five year warranty period and well within the expected lifespan of a solar system. Poor service and poor support.
This is a review update (28 Nov ’25), on the Enphase IQ Controller, IQ Gateway, Enphase software and more importantly the extremely poor support from Enphase, for a star rating I would struggle to provide one star. At the time of this update the issue is 45 days old and aging. Some background information. Issue arose around 14 Oct ’25, I noticed… Read more
a few days after an Enphase software update #5232 which was advised by Enphase Support.
System: 27 Enphase microinverters, 3 IQ Battery 5, 1 IQ System Controller 3 INT and 1 IQ Gateway, Site ID: 1612413.
Issue From the Enphase Enlighten app, what has been observed by myself and Enphase Support is that when adequate electricity is being generated to wholly support the house consumption and charge the battery with surplus, that electricity is unnecessarily being imported for the house consumption and what is being generated is going directly to the battery.
The PV system is functionally behaving erratically, with the Self Consumption profile selected it functions as though the Full Backup profile is selected. The Enphase workaround is to change the profile to Full Backup, save and change back to Self Consumption, this generally works but I have observed on some occasions it has little or no issue impact, this is where I do an IQ Gateway hard reboot.
The Profile erratic functionality issue occurs Monday to Friday and not on Saturday and Sunday - go figure.
My observation is that the house will run on battery all night as it should with Self Consumption, yet when there is PV energy production as the sun rises the erratic profile function commences – go figure.
Another issue observation is that sometimes the Enphase system reverts to erratic behaviour, plateauing / flatling at 300 Watts Production, so out of frustration I do a IQG hard reboot and the Production increased to over 2kW. Also the AP Mode in now constantly ON again.
Enphase Support Early on I phoned Enphase Support on three occasions which was helpful, until the issue continually reverted daily, then I escalated to my supplier seeking assistance with Enphase to resolve the issue which resulted in two contacts which I have been e-mailing my observations and requests, and keeping the supplier in the loop.
E-mails, how many too many ….to date over 17 to Enphase, resulting in too few Enphase responses, in these noting 3 internal Enphase escalations, to even Enphase Global Software and from where I sit as the customer nil evidence of any issue resolution or Enphase actions. I have suggested a teleconference to discuss and put in place a Resolution Action Plan
My observation is that Enphase goes into radio silence, is very poor in customer communication and not owning issues until issue resolution.
Enphase surely you can do better than this.
Due to the Enphase inaction, I have now lodged a complaint with NSW Fair Trading seeking a resolution and a full refund.
The two photos show the typical good sunny day electricity generation and the other how the erratic profile impacts the electricity production.
Purchase Enphase system in 2016. This system has produced 67.83 megawatts of power which has save us thousands of dollars in power costs. Rarely do we pay the 3 month bill. they pay us. Be aware the excellent monitoring system which is fantastic, but when the internet changes any settings its a real pain in the butt to fix. Show details
Follow-up · What's the fixing process like? Fixing the monitoring system app when the internet is down or when you have changed internet service providers is not straight forward although Enphase support is very helpful and patient. It does take time on the phone to get the system back online. The system produces solar power while the system is offline. Any… Read more
Already happy with the Enphase solar array installed previously so when it came to a battery install as well we would not consider anything else other than Enphase. The full integrated system worked off a phone app and is easy to use. Customer service is excellent and all in all we are extremely happy with Enphase and can highly recommend them. Show details

If you are thinking of solar consider Enphase inverters and batteries, their technology and support are next to none, you will find yourself in a tinkering stage after installation and Enphase will never leave you feeling unfinished after contact,I would repurchase and recommend this brand,Krusty. In May some of my solar panels stopped working, due to a fault with the microinverters. I contacted Enphase (case 18108337) for details of an installer to look at the issue. First they sent me to a website that didn't work, then recommended installers that weren't even in the right country, then right country only hundreds of miles away. Finally… Read more
they managed to recommend one nearby – that had ceased trading about four years ago (in the end I gave up and found a local one myself).
Since then, despite numerous site visits, Enphase have been unable or unwilling to resolve the issue. Each time the engineers are on site Enphase say they're going to replace the inverters, but then they repeatedly delay approving the replacement, insisting on another site visit (which costs me more money every time and requires expensive scaffolding).
I asked for an explanation of the delays and was told it was actually the wiring or voltages, despite what they'd previously told the engineers and all the wiring and voltages being checked numerous times. On the next site visit, Enphase said again the inverters needed replacing, but still haven't actually approved the replacements.
It looks like Enphase are deliberately avoiding their warranty obligations, and my system is only six years old. The installer's having to deal with other homeowners in the same predicament (one of whom has a brand new system), and is now reluctant to recommend Enphase in the future. Looking at the Enphase share price over the last couple of years, it seems others have drawn the same conclusion and wisely chosen a different supplier.
Over the last two months the only thing Enphase appear to have achieved is changing the gateway ID, which just caused more of my panels to stop working, and costing me a lot of unnecessary expenditure. Now, the installer is chasing them daily. I contacted them again about the delays (case 18410808); it's been a week and they haven't even bothered replying.
Have issues with 8 x 1.2kwh batteries being unserviceable for 2yrs despite being told all will be monitored and if any problem you will be notified. Installers Metrosolar failed to honour warranty for a micro inverter and also the 8 batteries, stating that Enphase were now handling it. Enphase shipped 2x 5kwh IQ batteries to my home before I… Read more
could do any research. Told me I have to buy controller plus fit same. Later found cost was over $14000 despite having paid about $10,000 for original batteries. Now Metro Solar and Enphase do not answered any emails etc. No customer Service whatsoever and guarantees none existent. If you want peace of mind try another brand and company as they promise the world and give ZIP.
Have had Enphase battery since September 2024. The Gateway connection has stopped working on several occasions, twice for weeks at a time. Our solar and battery are offline when the gateway is down. I had an enphase battery installed on my home. Was led to believe that this battery would power my house until roughly 1am. However, after installation, its performance has been nothing short of disappointing. The battery is usually flat by 9-10pm, then back to drawing on the grid. After speaking to salesman, I was told I would have to spend… Read more

great system when it's working – We had our enphase system installed in April, When the system is working its amazing. But we had the system go down for a whole week, Enphase preety much not taking responsibility for loosing a week worth of solar & credits to the grid , our bill this month was more then all the others. I'd be worried if it happens again & for longer, They seem not to care, they did send us a $50 voucher..
beware of enphase – I added another set of solar panels to my existing set about 6 years ago. Attracted to the concept of individual inverters on each panel supplied by the enphase system, I opted to use them on the new panels. Like many other reviewers, I was delighted with the monitor output which showed not only the 10 individual new panels, but also the total… Read more
output from the older 12 panels. All was well until 5 years and 2 weeks after the installation when the gateway unit which controls the system failed. At that point, I discovered that the 5 year warranty had expired 2 weeks earlier and it will cost $1000 to replace it. Needless to say, I will not be throwing good money after bad and will do without the monitoring. Looking at the reviews, you see some from people who have recently installed enphase and who are in raptures about it as was I initially, and others who have later found the shortcomings such as gateway failures which are not present in normal inverter systems. Other problems highlighted such as the inability to transfer elsewhere are also a worry which all makes me extremely annoyed that I was seduced by the individual inverter system and kicking myself for not reading the reviews..

The worse solar Enphase installers – An excellent product that is poorly implemented because they do not impose stricted rules to the installers. A 10 Kw solar panels installation with 16x S270 MI and 12x IQ7 the first S270 had. to be all replaced within a year the second kept failing and and took several years to replace them Total cost to date $45,000 for 10kw all the savings… Read more
wiped out since 2018. Support was improved but not within the first two years. I wouldn't operate the way the Enphase CEO in the USA operates but it is negligent to the consumers the weakest link being the Australian dysfunctional electricians installers that write their own rules that are dysfunctional, each one own his electrons not to be shared. Australian Electricians you are the most dysfunctional electricians on earth, I know because my father was the best younger electrician early in 1900 at the age of only 14 years none of you has ever matched him, you are deplorable very expensive cowboy tradies, I have witnessed it since I landed in this invaded land in 1788 First Fleet, me arriving in December 10, 1968, before you were born.
$200 ransom to access my own system – Bought a house with an Enphase system, they want to charge $200AUD to transfer ownership and let me see any kind of reporting from the system. And trying to use local-only reporting causes the system to crash. The system seems to work based on my power usage, but I don't have a way to see any reporting to confirm this. Show details
Terrible Customer Service – We have 2 Enphase batteries and have had 2 instances where a battery failed. The first time the battery was replaced relatively quickly. However this time, the battery has been offline since November 2023 (now 5 months) and we have no update. We have contacted Enphase multiple times to be told we are in a queue. One worker told us we were next in… Read more
the queue but on the next phone call we were told that the worker had lied and we weren't in the queue yet we were on a 'list'.
We just spoke to Customer Service for 15 minutes who told us we were in an 'amazing position' by only waiting 2 months as some people have been waiting years. If they cannot repair our battery, we move from this 'list' to another waiting list.
We are extremely disappointed and have zero answers to how and when our battery fault will be rectified.
Worst service ever which is typical of businesses these days take your money and create issues – Worst service in email reply’s in getting a second battery replaced under warranty 5 months & still not replaced. Show details
Dreadful after-care service – Gateway failed on 24/10/23, Solar company fixed it & removed a battery that also failed. Terrible after sales service – One of my microinverters stopped reporting in mid December, over a month ago. Contacted the installer, too busy, so contacted Enphase helpdesk itself. Warranty no good – Always trip circuit breaker’s. Warranty useless. Installer never answered emails. It’s 2024 now and the installation warranty is still unless no help from Endphase the system still not working. the installer was solaray ripoff merchants. Safe, Powerful and Smart IQ7+ Microinverter: Distributed architecture always a winner! – I recently had my Enphase solar system installed.
