My ERGO was fabulous from 6 months to about 2yrs old for both my kiddies. Great pockets for phone and keys. I bought the Limited Edition Christie Turlington one from Amazon, and an attachable shoulder bag to match. It has held its condition perfectly, I no longer need it but don't want to sell it as it is so nice.
Easy to adjust
Good instructions came with this product and it was easy for dad to own this product and make it his thing! Infant insert was essential to start with and then we were able to easily transport and take with us everywhere. Felt secure and safe with this baby carrier. Good product!
A carrier that really has performance
It was for the second baby, so we had other brands before. The Ergobaby range was around when we had our first, or maybe we didn't see it. Anyway, it was better than our previous carriers. Really confortable and nice on the shoulders. My back didn't feel much tension. But, the best tester is my baby. She loves it. Falls asleep in it everytime.
Worth its weight in gold for us
I bought the Ergobaby Performance when my son was 5 weeks old as he would sleep only on me and I couldn't just sit there holding him all day anymore. I chose the Performance as it was summer and it also came with the infant insert. It took a bit of practice putting on but after a while it was very easy and comfortable; the insert helped as it kept baby contained, particularly useful when I had to put him down as he would stay snugly enclosed and asleep. Little did I know then that he would sleep in it for all his day naps until he was 6 months!...Great way to enable me to get stuff done, keep baby happy and much easier than lugging a pram around. It also helped immensely with his reflux in the early months as it kept him upright. Easy to chuck in the washing machine, insert and all. The little pocket is big enough to keep a phone, keys and card in and the cover is good enough for shade - I did prefer it not completely covering baby's head as he was so young and I could see there was no obstruction. Definitely my number one baby purchase.
A comfortable, practical and secure baby carrier!
Purchased the ergobaby performance carrier for our second child after trying other brands and styles with bub #1. Such a shame that we didn't try the Ergobaby sooner as it is far superior to the others we had tried. It is comfortable to wear (for both myself and my husband), easy to adjust, simple to set up for bub, very comfortable for bub, easy to position front, back or on the hip and suitable for children up to about 20kg. It's come in so handy for travel, and even when we're lugging big suitcases around, you hardly notice you're wearing the ergobaby! I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a comfortable, safe, and versatile baby carrier.

The best baby product I have bought, hands down
I've actually come all the way to this site just to write this review because I love this carrier SO much.
As a dad I call this my 'secret weapon': whenever my little boy (now 8 weeks) is screaming his head off, I get up like Superman, pop on the Ergobaby, and slip him in there. He's silent within 60 seconds — if not, a little short walking and he's out like a light. The ONLY exception is when he's genuinely hungry (and even then, I can usually get him to sleep).
Words can't express how grateful his mum is for this thing. I have him almos...t more than her — I work from home and constantly have a sleeping bub strapped to my chest (like right now as I write). I use this thing way more than the expensive pram we have. I just prefer having my hands free, and there's something special about having the baby on your chest. The weight distribution isn't bad; if you do it right, 90% of the weight is on your hips (you have to do it up REAL tight). I do get some mild shoulder pain from extended wearing but I think that's an adjustment issue which I'll be able to solve.
Definitely would not reccomend
I did my research and came to the conclusion the Ventus was for me as I live in a very warm area and I was planning on using this carrier while I went to some fitness classes and also teaching some mums and bubs classes too. In the shop when trying on it didn't seam too different to the original so I went with it.
I cannot wear this for over an hour without severe back pain and my hubby gets terribly sore shoulders/back too. Bub also didn't like it. I mean, he would fall asleep in it at first but when he would wake up he would be in a panic ...screaming. I went to a local baby wearing group where they made sure I was wearing it right and one of the mums gave me the original and it's SO much better. I could wear it for 3+ hours and when bub woke up in it he was relaxed and happy to look around. I definitely would chose the original over the ventus if I were to try again. I've been in contact with customer service and they were lovely but I'm not sure if there will be anything I can do about this purchase.
Great mesh design but bub unhappy
I love the ergobaby performance ventus as it's so airy for hot climate. Unfortunately the top of the carrier and between straps where baby's face is so claustrophobic and narrow my 6 month old boy who's actually tall enough to have his head above the carrier cried the moment I put him in. I felt like his neck, head and face is wrapped around by the carrier. Wish ergobaby will make it wider here and option to fold down the edge supporting neck for smaller babies so they are not totally covered. Also front facing outward would be great! I love it but it's the only carrier which made bb cried. So I opted for ergo 360. Great product but really hot for tropics. If only you have mesh material.
Worth the money!
We bought this after a couple of months using a pram and I use it most days. It's great to pop the baby in and walk to the shops for a quick trip or if you're running errands. I sometimes use it if she's grumbly and I have to do housework. You can put the baby in it and do the washing and the washing up with your hands free. If the baby doesn't want to go to sleep you can put them in it and walk around and in no time at all they'll be asleep. Honestly, I use it way more than the pram which is heavy and hard to assemble and get in and out o...f the house and car. We bought this one, especially because it was made with the mesh fabric and it really breathes. Living in Brisbane and it being over 30 most days for half of the year, we needed a carrier that would breathe and not be too hot. Ergobaby carriers put the weight onto your hips rather than drag down your shoulders. If it does feel like your shoulders are being pulled down it usually means the baby is not sitting in it correctly or it's too tight or too loose around the shoulders or hips. Just do some adjusting and it should feel more comfortable. The sunshade is good if it's really sunny or raining and can protect the baby a bit. There's also a pocket you can put keys, cards, phone etc in. So far I've only used it in the front position as my baby is 8 months. I've never tried the hip position or the back position at this stage. I've been meaning to review it for ages because I really love this carrier and would recommend it to any new parent.
Good carrier infant insert is trouble
I read a few reviews and spoke to.some friends and their comments were spot on. The carrier is good, supportive etc but given.how fiddly the infant insert is, probably best for bubs 3/4 months upwards. Also, the clips are pretty stiff and I really struggle with the one across the shoulders, you need elastic arms for sure.

Where is the pouch?
I have used the original for the first few weeks when my son was born., borrowed from a friend. I bought the performance because my baby was so warm in the original one, and this was at winter time. Quite happy with the performance although I deeply miss the big pouch the original has, which can accomodate, a purse, a nappy, a burp cloth.
I don't think a pouch would have compromised the main purpose of the carrier (ie being light).
An earlier comment mention a pouch, but this is only for the rain/sun cover, a really tiny one... That's a shame!
Life saver! Must have baby product!
This is truly a life saver! Initially, it was a bit difficult to put it on, but with more practise, it will just be a breeze. Our Bub is 2.5 months old now. We used to spend 1 to 1.5 hours to try to put her to sleep at night until one night, I decided to try the ergobaby performance. Within 20 mins, she fell asleep and what amazing was that when I took her off the carrier, she stayed asleep. So I just simply wrap her and put her into bed. Now we only need 5-10 minutes to carry her before she falls asleep while watching TV or doing our normal be...dtime routine as you can get your two hands free. The downside would be that it can get pretty hot in warm days and is a bit tricky and uncomfortable for both you and Bub when you sit down as the waist belt can stuck between Bub's bum and your leg. Bub always starts to move when I sit down. It's no biggie though.
Great for Dad, not Mum's preferred carrier. Good features & comfort (by Dad)
This is our pram - we don't use the wheeled variety! It makes life so much easier - who cares about steps, narrow doorways, getting on buses - with an Ergo, you have free hands all the time.
It has been a life saver at 3am, carrying restless kids around the block. We're now up to baby number 2 and carry her in it often; however number 1 still wants to ride in it (at 15kg) every now and then - which is not a big problem.
Pros: easy to use;
+ child is nice and close and definitely comfy;
+ very easy to take off (easier than putting on);
Couldn't have survived without it!
I used the Ergobaby Performance from when my LO turned about 4mo. It was so much easier to have my hands free when out and about, and sometimes I used it to wear him around the house too. Was perfect for breastfeeding whilst on the move. My partner used it a fair bit too. LO got to a stage where he just refused to go in the stroller so the Ergo was a blessing, especially as he was a 'runner' and found it difficult to stay close when he started walking. He has always been happy in the Ergo and liked being close to mum or dad. Only stopped ...using it earlier this year when he was about 18m and I was pregnant with next bub. Looking forward to using it again with the next one. Also now considering the Ergo wrap for baby in the earlier months.
Comfy but tricky to put on
I bought a Ventus to use with a slightly older bub (9 months plus) when my babybjorn started to get uncomfortable, and when I wanted a carrier for a back position so we could do some bushwalking. Baby is certainly comfortable in it, and it's pretty comfortable to wear in the front and back positions, so definitely no complaints there. My main issue is that in a front position it's near impossible to put on by myself, as I cannot reach around to do up the back latch (even in its lowest setting), and also in the hip position (which bub loves) it...is just horribly uncomfortable with the strap digging sharply into my neck. So all up, I'm happy with the ventus because I'm really only after the back carry position, however if I had bought this for a young bub I would have been disappointed, as the flexibility, for me, is not there.
BEST baby purchase i've made!
I LOVE this carrier! I have used it more than my expensive pram. My bubs is 9 months and has loved it from birth. I would take him to the beach and he would have naps in it. He doesn't sleep in it now but I just whip it out for quick shop runs etc. So good for settling a newborn and getting out and about. Would highly recommend!
material is breathable for sunny hot qld, love the pocket for keys/ phone, sleepy hood
my bub is a big boy, I find sometimes it can be a bit uncomfortable after a while, probably because he is a budda and im only small
Love it! Have told countless people to get it.
Love this carrier. I never used it when my kid was a newborn as I had a hugabub but got it around 6 months and used it until 18 months. Never had a problem and used it daily. Was sad when I didn't have the strength to carry my little one anymore. My husband can still use it on his back.
Easy and fast to use, holds baby close to the body, back hold option. Baby feels super secure.
Would have liked a forward facing option as my baby was sometimes so keen to see and would end up all twisted.
Baby loves it... everybody is happy
We got this for my four month old (chubby baby) because my other baby carriers were really starting to annoy me. One was cumbersome to put on and the other was digging into my shoulders. I had thought that he might object to no longer being forward facing but he absolutely loves the back position. Even when he's cranky he seems to settle down. He feels so light in it and our 15kg three year old also enjoys being in it. Will be very useful for family trips/walks. My main word of advice would be to try on all the types of ergobaby carrier with th...e baby in it because the original and the sport model really didn't fit as well. The performance fit both myself and my husband perfectly well. Light weight, durable, looks good Can take a bit of practice to master the back position safely
Love my Ergobaby carrier and have been using it with my baby since 2 months. I have a lower back problem so I couldn't really carry stuff for long but with this carrier I could barely feel any pressure on my back. It's really well designed so that baby’s weight is evenly distributed on me.
Design to distribute the weight evenly
I purchase my ergo performance when bub was 1 yr old. It's been the best thing we've invested in.Mostly used for travel and shopping in supermarket.Lightweight,practical,durable.I have a little boy and my husband decided to gor with ergo carrier as it does notT hold bub by the crotch like some other carriers do.
All ergo carriers support well, the same way you would carry your baby in your arm;holding bum and legs.A real sitting position instead of hanging.
I purchased mine new but now after only 1yrand a half,it is not being used much.
I do not really like investing in expensive items that won't be use in the long run.
So may be considering a good secondhand ergo from ebay could have been a better options to save some $$$.

Questions & Answers
What would happen if you did face your child outwords in the ergo baby original?
Hi Jesse, Thanks for contacting us to find out the correct information on facing baby outwards. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original is not recommended at all. The Ergobaby Original carriers are only 3 position carriers and they aren't designed to support a baby in an outward facing position. The structure of the carrier simply doesn't allow for it. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original will put baby's hips in a compromised position. The baby will sit too wide in the seat pushing their legs too far apart which in turn will put undue pressure on their hips. We definitely advise NOT to face baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original.
If you are looking for a carrier in which baby can face outwards, please look at our Ergobaby 360 range. These are the only Ergobaby carriers which will support baby in the correct ergonomic position whilst facing outwards.
I hope this has helped answer your question. Thanks again for contacting us via Product Review.
Hi, we are going to travel overseas and most likely will be carrying our 2.5 up she is 10 kg. We are wondering which ergo carrier will be best for the job. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance
Thankyou for getting in touch with us and for choosing an Ergobaby Carrier for your overseas travel adventures. What an exciting time for you and your family!
For travelling, and given the weight of your child now, I would suggest our Cool Air Adapt Carrier. This carrier will take up to 20kgs in weight which means you will get maximum use out of the carrier as your 2.5 year old grows. The Cool Air Adapt is made from the same fabric as Nike and Lorna Jane use in their activewear - it's basically designed to keep yourself and bub cool in warmer months whilst you are wearing the carrier. The other thing I love about this carrier for travel is that the type of fabric it is made out of is very comfortable for older babies whether you need it for warmer weather or not. The Adapt is a 3 position carrier meaning you can carry her on front facing toward you, on your hip and on your back. At 2.5 years of age the back carry becomes a popular choice both parents and child - it's fun and comfortable.
I hope that this has helped with your decision. Have fun on your travels!
Which style has the best back support for the carrier? I'm looking at 360 or performance
Honestly I'm not sure. I only really tried the Performance. When I looked at the fabrics the 360 seemed like it would be quite warm (I bought it in summer in Brisbane). But most stores are happy for you to try it on and put your baby in it (however that's not an option if the baby hasn't been born yet). The 360 let's you put the baby on the front and facing outwards and you can't do that with the Performance. The Performance you can wear on your back, hip, or front (all of which, the baby needs to be facing into your body and not outwards).
Overall the 360 is thicker in padding on shoulder hence feels more supportive than performance. Performance has higher weight carrying capacities of 20kg though.
Babes in Arms E.Ergobaby
The ergobaby 360 carrier has a wrap around waist band which many people find offers superior support. This carrier offers the baby a facing outwards carry position.
The ergobaby performance carrier has dense foam shoulders which are curved more like a hiking pack, which some people prefer. This carrier has mesh lining.
Both are really comfortable. Both are designed to have the load of the baby carried on the hips and not on your back or shoulders. Both are great carriers!
