We were charged $1,600 for a pressure and flood test, which didn’t identify the issue. We were then advised to regrout the shower for $4,900, which we agreed to due to urgency After completion, the leak continued. A follow-up visit resulted in another quote for additional work, which we declined out of frustration We then contacted our builder,… Read more
whose plumber identified a pinhole leak in a shower pipe upstairs. This was repaired within the week and confirmed to be within the builder warranty
Based on our experience, the initial diagnosis did not resolve the issue, and we ended up paying for work that didn’t fix the problem. Would recommend getting a second opinion before proceeding with major work
Evil company, must be paying for these reviews. Known scammers, have lost their plumbing license several times for ripping off vulnerable people. Advertise a $0 call out fee but then scam you into $1200 "search and discovery" which means nothing. Horrible pressure tactics to convince you to pay their absurd fees. Avoid at all costs. Will be reporting to all relevant authorities, hopefully they lose their license again.
Wanting to provide an update to my initial reviews. Overall the plumbing work done by this team was fine. However I would personally seek a 2nd opinion in future because the first team they sent out misdiagnosed the issue, suggested a $3000 fix and when this did not solve the problem they sent another team out and charged me another $2000. team who did the first job said it wasn't necessary but since I'd already signed the consent form they would do it. So I paid $5000 for a $2000 job just because I'd signed their form. I was then pressured to submit a review to this site while the plumber was in my home because apparently they get a bonus if reviews are posted while they're on site, when I couldn't have assessed their work by that time. I asked them for a resolution and they said they would "investigate". This was months ago and I have heard nothing from them.

I called Dans Plumbing & paid call out fee of $85 but a Fergusons truck arrived, he showed quote of $2k but 10% deposit needed before any testing so I paid, he came back after an hour to say testing done so I paid balance but he still couldn’t find leak, he came back after an hour & half to say he found leak in toilet pipe & what he needed to do… Read more
to fix it & then put his iPad in front of me on the sign screen but I said sorry what amount am I signing for & he flicked screen back to quote & pointed to amount of $10k, I swore & rang my husband who asked plumber to cap off toilet but plumber said he couldn’t & he phoned his boss & gave us another quote of $7k, my husband again asked him to cap off toilet but plumber refused & my husband told him to leave. We then called a local plumber who capped off toilet & was gone within an hour & charged $368. The fergusons plumber was here for 3 hours not doing much & charging us a fortune.
Great except fees were astronomical – Trent was great, did great job and on time, but $980 to change a leaking fitting into my hot water system, holy hell. Wth. All Trents great work was over shadowed by the fees.

We had an extremely disappointing experience with this plumbing company and would caution others to be very careful before engaging them. action as the kitchen and bathroom would soon also become blocked and the whole house would be uninhabitable. We were told the tree root intrusion caused a grade 4 curve in the pipe so the sewerage could not be pushed up hill. We felt the plumber provided a lot of pressure on the night for us to sign a contract immediately, under stressful conditions, which resulted in us not being given the time to seek alternative quotes or proper advice. Once signed, we were told we were contractually bound and would need to pay the majority of the quote even if we chose to cancel as they had already “purchased materials” —effectively giving us no choice. Despite the urgency (we had no working toilet in a one toilet house), the actual works weren’t completed for almost two weeks, when we had initially been led to believe it would be resolved in a day or two. During that time, we consulted other qualified plumbers who reviewed the scope of works and advised that the same job should have cost between $3,000 and $5,000. We were ultimately charged close to $16,000, which we now believe to be grossly excessive. When the work was finally completed and the pipe was removed, there was no evidence of a collapsed pipe or tree root intrusion (see attached photo with no blockage in the pipe), nor that there was a raise in the pipe. This lead to serious concerns about whether the excavation and replacement were even necessary. Although they were helpful in providing some photos of certain stages of the work, they were unable to supply the CCTV footage of the initial blockage—which was critical for our Body Corporate. This missing footage has only added to our doubts about the legitimacy of the initial diagnosis. Since then we have discovered multiple consumer complaints and news reports—including stories featured on A Current Affair—highlighting a pattern of aggressive sales tactics and overcharging by this company. In what was already a stressful and urgent situation, we feel we were taken advantage of. We expected a fair and professional service and instead walked away feeling misled and financially exploited. We cannot recommend this company and strongly urge others to get multiple quotes and independent advice before agreeing to any work, especially under pressure.
These guys are predatory. They go under Dan's Plumbing, Ferguson group, point plumbing, There website states free quotes, however they wanted $62 for a call out to provide a quote. look at our other pipes they wanted additional "fees" to test. I was told by another plumber it would be $400. When I mentioned this, the plumber stated all plumbers talk crap and theyre competitive on pricing. From googling, they have been investigated by ACA, and have terrible reddit reviews. They pressured my fiance to pay. I had used them for another job, and this was a warranty call back. Same issue they wanted $1,200 for a broken P trap. These are $9 at bunnings. I told them this was extortion. It was a weekend and said I could justify $250 Phr. They stated it would be an emergency call out fee which they would "waive". Do not use these plumbers. Theyre extremely over priced. Theyre charging between $650-$1000 phr.

NSW and Truefix Tradie.
On the 19th of August, 2025, the NSW Building Commission took disciplinary action by suspending their trade licence for 60 days.
On the 27th of August, 2025, the NSW Building Commission issued a public warning, stating, 'NSW consumers are warned not to deal with Australian Trades Pty Ltd (300418C) and Charbel Alha (190178C) in connection with residential building works or plumbing and drainage works because of the risk that consumers may be exposed to unconscionable conduct, use of unfair contract terms, and undue harassment and coercion.'
I engaged with the company in April of 2025. I state the following in brief:
I am living on the Disability Support Pension and did not have hot water for several days. I contacted ‘Dan’s Plumbing’ using their website and was approached by ‘Ferguson's Plumbing.’
Unnecessary charges. It included accessing the hot water unit, main power supply, main water valve and turning them on and off, as well as a charge to remove the trade waste from the site. I discovered that other companies do not incur an extra charge for removal, as it is already included with their service.
Overcharging. The company charged me 57.3% more than the market value of the hot water unit. It was purchased from Reece, a plumbing supplier, for $1,227.93 and sold to me for $2,880.52, making an extra $1,652.59. In addition, their total fees (including the 10% pensioner discount) were $7,228.99 to investigate ($476.19) and replace/install a hot water unit ($6,752.80). A quote from a competing service would charge me in total (including the 10% pensioner discount) $2845.13.
A gag clause. As my dispute was about a 10% deposit that is unpaid, I was offered a fee waiver on the condition that I did not engage in conduct which could be seen as tainting their reputation (like writing a review) and that I treat all discussions and negotiations confidentially (discouragement from making a report to Fair Trading or seeking legal advice), and this is the final settlement.
An admission of charging more than market value. I spoke to a customer service agent named [Name Removed]. In my concern, I stated that 'I still have been overcharged.' [Name Removed] repeated how 'there is no such thing as overcharging, as our prices are not regulated.' I responded with, 'then why did the company charge nearly double for the hot water unit in comparison to the place supplying them?' [Name Removed] stated, 'We can do that because there is no price regulation, and we can set the price.’
Scare tactics. [Name Removed] stated, 'I would like to work on this, but I would prefer we didn't go to Fair Trading or the Tribunal. I have been to fair trading and won several times; they will tell you the same thing as I am telling you now there is no such thing as overcharging,' and you run the risk of not receiving anything. We would also lose 10% - 20% from Humm, as we pay your interest fees. There is no clause in any contract stipulating that they pay my interest fee.
Hurtful comments about my disability to discredit my concerns. [Name Removed] stated ‘how can you manage this without a carer? Do you have a carer?' ‘how could your mother leave you in charge of this, who is she to do that?'
In reference to unlicensed electrical work, I sought legal advice from the Home and Building Advocacy Service (HOBAS). The solicitor stated the company did not have the appropriate license at the time of this review.
An update. The company attempted to manipulate me in taking down my review by using emotional… Read more (+1 reply)

most. After digging deeper, we discovered that Dan’s Plumbing, Bob’s Plumbing, and Ferguson’s Plumbing are all linked to the same company — Frontline Trades.
They’re under investigation by consumer watchdogs and building commissions in several states, and A Current Affair recently aired an exposé on them. They’ve even had a stop-work notice issued in Victoria.
Do yourself a favour — use absolutely anyone else. There are plenty of honest, licensed plumbers out there. These guys will rip you off.
I'm sharing my experience as a warning to others. This business, which uses multiple trading names, quoted me what I felt was an exorbitant price when they knew I was desperate to get the job done. research on this company before making a decision. I had to leave one star to be able to share this review.
!!! WARNING !!! Do your research, get a second quote, overcharging and aggressive tactics are this business’ bread and butter. First thing's first, I have no one but myself to blame for using these alleged rip-off merchants. I was in a bind, there was a gas leak in my apartment, my tenants had been without hot water or heating for over 24hrs and… Read more
I contacted the first supplier to come up on Google. They quoted me a price to repair 1m of gas line from my stove to the outlet at $3,100. I advised the plumber at the time this seemed “exorbitant” but was in a bind, so agreed to the quote hoping it was an error I could rectify after the fact. I will admit the work was completed in an hour (which would suggest an incredibly straight forward procedure) and to a decent standard. This is where the alarm bells began.
After consulting with a plumber of 40 years experience they advised this type of job should’ve cost around $500.
I called the office the next day to bring this information to light and ascertain whether an error had been made with the costing. Immediately I was accused of defaming them for suggesting they overcharged, condescended by the suggestion I have no idea about overheads and even threatened with legal action and debt recovery. Given this response I suspected that this was a normal operating procedure for the business and started doing some digging to initially come across this (NB Trust Pilot does allow external links so have added Google queries for convenience): - ACA expose: Google "A Current Affair Fergusons Plumbling" - And a Reddit Thread compiling all of their negative practices here: Google "dodgy tradies hire reputation management firm reddit"
Since the completion of the works, we have been back and forth to try to come to a reasonable and fair resolution, below is the timeline of the series of events that followed.
- They offered a measly $400 discount - I accepted the discount on the condition that they send me an itemized invoice including parts used, brands, part numbers and a breakdown of labour - They sent back an invoice with two line items, no breakdown of parts or labour as requested and as is required by law - Google "ACCC receipts-bills-proof-of-purchase" - They also added a clause to the invoice that upon accepting the $400 discount, I would not disparage or harm the business - I have decided to forgo the measly amount of money in order to ensure I can warn others about this business’ allegedly nefarious trading practices - WARNING I suspect they also use a myriad of other businesses to obscure their predatory behaviour - Their ABN is registered to Australian Trades Pty Ltd Google - "11164770852" but I have been contacted by - Fergusons Plumbing (the business I originally contracted) - Point Plumbing another trading entity under the above ABN - As well as Dan’s plumbing - The other trading businesses operated under the above ABN are: - TRUSTY TRADIE - Truefix Tradie - BOB'S PLUMBING NSW - LLOYD'S PLUMBING & GAS - ANDERSONS PLUMBING AUS - Dan's Electrical - Willson's Plumbing
Please, please be careful using any of the above businesses and expect to pay over and above market rates and be treated unconscionably. There are a couple of hypotheses I make about the organisation:
- They’re only listed on pay-to-play consumer review sites - Such as - Product Review . com . au - Trust Index . io - Trust Pilot .com - On these sites the business only has 5 star reviews, all of which have an eerily similar format - OR 1 star reviews that go into great detail about their trading practices (none of which are positive) - No Google reviews as I suspect these are harder to cleanse than the sites cited above - And their cleansing practices are noted in the Reddit Thread above - They operate an absurd amount for trading entities (as detailed above) I suspect to obscure the well-documented abhorrent trading practices
As a consequence of my experience with the business I have have left reviews on each and every entity the parent business operates under. I’ve also contacted Google to report them as a scam advertiser and the product review sites that they’re listed on, advocating for their removal.
If I can save one person from going through the hassle I’ve had to endure dealing with these alleged rip-off merchants, this review would’ve been worth it.
Absolutely do not recommend! False advertising - free call out only if you accept their quote. Absolutely inflated prices and very pushy. Go elsewhere!!! Should have known better, they initially canceled the job 15 minutes before my booked time and had to reschedule! Very unprofessional.
DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE, trading under many different names. Dishonest and tell you works to be done that are completely not necessary PLUS quoting and charging a complete fortune. No integrity whatsoever. Google the history of these people. 5 star reviews are fake..BE WARNED. I only gave1 star to submit this. Provided quote but works not completed. Then give you further quote for exorbitant price for works not even required or necessary.
Absolute rip off and scammers. Charged over $500 just to 'inpect' Gas hot water system, then quoted $4500 for a new gas hot water heater, which is rediculous. I declined and turned up the temp setting on our existing gas water heater and now it's fine. They could have done that too but trying to convince people to dirk out money to replace things is their game.
This review relates to Aspire Contracting, which appears to be the same company. original call out) and a quote was produced for remediation of pipes as well as additional work that I was looking to arrange. While I was permitted to review this quote on an iPad I was never provided a copy subsequently despite asking on the day and calling their call centre on multiple occasions. This was a quote of around $20k where the plumbers attending were using their sales tactics and telling me how it was a good price and adding that they could even agree a payment plan but only if I signed on that day. I even got to speak to their manager in an attempt to get this locked in. I could feel in this engagement that there was a false sense of urgency, undisclosed upselling and an attempt to induce a fear of missing out. To anyone reading this review, always look to get more than one quote and if they aren't willing to release the quote it's a big red flag.
