Who designed this dog. What a failure! – Edit Jan 2024... reduced from 2* to 1* rating and 1 for value for money. If I could give ZERO for ease of use and internal layout I would. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a product as I am with this piece of rubbish. Seriously, do the designers of this product know anything about how people use a fridge? Sure it keeps food… Read more

cold BUT..... * No egg holder - seriously??? * Can't fit longer styled bottles of wine without affecting other storage spaces on the door. * Massive waste of space with those dumb slide out drawers in both fridge and freezer. * Can't pull out the middle slide out drawer without pulling out large bottom drawer * Unlike the Westinhouse which we were forced to replace after 15 years; the shelves are rectangular which leaves a huge amount of un-usable airspace at the rear of the fridge * Is that why it's called a 494L instead of a 522litre; because of all the wasted space? * Wish I could return this dog. Seriously unimpressed.

Wonderful fridge! – Very happy with this 18 months in… so much better than the kelvinator we inherited. Quiet, efficient and effective. Show details

Great looks and layout, Poor build quality – Nice flat finish and the hidden door handles. Interior plastic and plastic door shelves are of good flexible plastic and not brittle that tend to crack. Layout is excellent and very roomy. Led light is nice and bright. Well priced. A temp reading would be a nice addition. What you might not like... The stainless steel finish looks great but needs… Read more

lots of up keep with constant wiping of finger marks around and near handles. Any dings stands out unlike a white door. The door seal sucks in tight when closing and if you have to quickly reopen its hard to pull and jolts open. This is vey annoying part of the sealing function. Plenty of shelving runs on the side of the fridge so you can make any height item fit. However accumulates grime and time consuming to clean. The crisper has a stupid bit of plastic in it to help with freshness apparently. It and the brackets break easy. Hard to place back in.

We got a dud, check your door is aligned to frame properly. Our fridge was always wet throughout and dripping inside on hot days. A friend pointed this is not normal operation. We checked fridge level which was ok. Checked seal which was ok. We found the gasket was only 1mm over the fridge frame and not sealing. Removed door and packed with washers to lift up the door. Using a torch inside the fridge we could not get the door to seal to stop the dampness. We could not lift door higher. Our power bill will be quiet high as the compressor constantly tries to regulate the temp. Appears we must have got a dud. We have always purchased fisher/Paykel items for quality, value and performance. The structural build quality of this fridge however is very poor. The compressor is obviously good as it has been doing overtime for the last 3 years. We are looking at replacing the fridge with a Hisense.

Very noisy fridge – Great design very happy with look and function wise, bottom freezer is perfect. However, main problem is the horrible bang noise which keep increasing speciallY in Night time. After every 8 to 10 minutes you can hear the horrible loudest bang in my house. Sooo annoying F&P help line centre: such a bad attitude. Totally wasted my money in this fridge. Show details

This Fridge can`t handle QLD Weather – I have two electric sensors one sensor for mass temp and one for air temp, the mass temp which most refrigeration mechanics go by is reading 9.3 degrees and the air 9.1 degrees. The fridge is now set at 2 lit dots, I reduced it down to two the other day when yogurt tasted warm and other things in fridge weren't very cold, also the thing about… Read more

reduced fingerprints showing on the stainless steel door is rubbish and my wife hates having to wipe them off all the time. To anyone thinking of buying one of these fridges don't waste your money and buy something else.

Excellent refrigerator, but – We recently bought the Fisher and Paykel ActiveSmart 519L refrigerator with the recessed handles. In the main it is an excellent unit, well laid out, keeps a constant temperature, etc. However: - The first 18 hrs it was NOISY (our kitchen is in an open plan living area). However, it seems that is because it was just getting down to temperature.… Read more

All seems ok now. - The butter/cheese compartments in the top of the door are quite high. It is ok for me but my wife is not tall and she can barely see them. - The "soft close doors" are not like soft close doors on modern cupboards that slow down then completely close. The doors on the fridge will NOT completely close unless you give them a push. Silly design. - I would have liked a half width drawer in the fridge to keep cold meats, cheese, etc. Instead, we have used a plastic container.

All in all, it is an excellent unit but 4 stars due to the above.

Very happy so far – We have only had this fridge a month but am extremely happy so far. I love having the freezer below and having drawers in there works well despite the fact you loose a bit of space. Both the freezer drawers and the fruit/salad drawer open easily which was not the case with our old fridge. Cooling performance is very good despite my children… Read more

occasionally forgetting to close the door - the audible reminder comes in useful here. Overall I am very happy - I'll update if we have an reliability issues

Very good – Happy but sometimes it’s difficult to keep it open. The door hits the left shells of the pantry. It also will be better if you have more compartments for the milk. Happy with the temperature. Like the finish mat of the stainless steel. Perfect size for the pantry. I like to have one door, I was sick with the other fridge/ double door.  Show details

Very happy with this – Excellent fruit and veg keeper - best one in any fridge we have had - keeps produce really fresh Very quiet and thats important as we live in a very open plan house Stainless steel shows fingermarks but that is more a housekeeping problem inside layout simple and very light. Door storage excellent Freezer easy to use but not a lot of storage space. Good place for ice making and quick freeze  Show details

Essential cooler – It keeps the temperature low enough but not too cold for the fridge room. Good sized drawer for fruits and veggies at the bottom. The freezer is always well chilled. It's been a year and never had a problem. Considering the size, it is a quiet sounding fridge so pleased about that. Due to the minimalist design inside the fridge, there's plenty of room and it's very easy to clean.  Show details

disappointed – We used it for one year. And had to return it because the gas issue. It was really loud. And people from the company also came to check, they reckon we should have change the compresser. I think maybe we were jusy unlucky. I loved the look and top cooling. Big storage space. That was quite sad to return it.  Show details

A step up from its predecessor – We had the previous model of this fridge and it was not great. However we had to replace that with the new model as that was the only fridge that made best use of the kitchen cabinet space. The good news is that this new model is significantly better in terms of usable space, freezer design and de-icing. I'm hoping that fisher Paykel have solved a lot of their quality issues with the previous model, but so far so good.  Show details

Beautiful and functional – Always wanted a F&P for a fridge, finally did it. Works like it’s supposed to. Really quiet, has bottle chill function which is a surprisingly good feature that I hadn’t expected. Looks really sleek and beautiful in our kitchen. It has roller wheels making it easy to move it for cleaning the floor underneath it. Highly recommended  Show details

Does the job could of been better – Had to get a new fridge in a hurry as the last one burnt out, and we settled on the Fisher & Paykel 519L bottom freezer. This is the first time I have used or brought a bottom freezer, it makes packing the freezer a little easier with the pull out baskets. The fridge part is easy to stack and use the only complaint I have is that the top shelf tend to chill and sometime freeze what is put on there, even after adjusting the temp.  Show details

Very pleased, spacious and quiet – Very happy with out decision that we chose this fridge, we bought this replace our 295lt Sammie (which was fine but too small). This new fridge uses pretty much same energy as our 295 lts fridge and runs very quiet and has all the bells and whistles. We like the LED lighting and drawers in fridge and freezer sections. Also, this one has a big capacity and still is less the 90cms in width (should fit through standard door and most apartments)  Show details

Perfect Fridge – I purchased a Fisher & Paykal ActiveSmart™ 519L Fridge/Bottom Freezer from Bing Lee which was the perfect choice, the fridge runs very quite, holds the adjusted temperature extremely well and the sales person was well-informed and friendly giving us advice. We love the door alarm, SmartTouch control panel and Bottle chill mode  Show details
