Valerian and Hops, the two ingredients in ReDormin have research which suggests they improve one’s metabolic rate. Therefore, research I have read suggests there is an anti-obesity effect. For myself, I hadn’t considered a causal relationship before. But perhaps it has contributed to the small wt loss I have experienced in the last 2yrs. Who knows?

Re is it safe?: difficult to answer without knowing your situation but as a general guide, it would be considered safer than conventional sedative medication. For example, it is definitely NOT safe if you’re allergic to it and it is always possible that it could interact with other medication you may be taking. Also it should not be used before having a general anaesthetic.

My recommendation is - check with you GP or pharmacist first.

Re long term use: For myself, from my own reading, I am satisfied it is safe BUT as with nearly all ‘natural’ medications, research may be somewhat lacking or still emerging. Therefore, one cannot be 100% sure. Fortunately, as this is an ‘as required’ treatment, you can stop at any time, have a break then resume if desired.

Quite possibly. It's a reason I never take any sleeping tablet beyond about midnight.

Most good chemists have it. Might be behind the counter but don't need a prescription.

I would check with a medical professional for your specific set of circumstances but my doctor has had me taking for several years now and has never indicated that she wants me to stop taking it at any time in the future.

I've not noticed any weight gain. On the contrary, if you're sleeping better it should make it easier for your body to regulate its weight.

My doctor has confirmed that I can take both together but she has given me personal guidance on dosages of both. That said, you would be best to check with your GP because supplements and dosages like this can be quite individual

I am not a practitioner. My rule of thumb is if something is out of date - I throw it away as products can lose their effectiveness or not be good for us.

I am not a practitioner - the directions on the packet indicate there is no limit to using Redormant! Read the leaflet carefully for full instructions. As it is herbal - I take it regularly as does my naturopath who recommended it!

I am not a practitioner. The packet for Redormit says 2 tablets 1 hour before bed. You would need to seek advice from a naturopath or pharmicist re the use of Kalma as well. I only use one tablet of redormit which works for me - everyone is different! Good luck!

Hi Liz, I take 2 tablets 3-4 times a week when I need a good nights sleep, sleep is a problem with the elderly. No, have not experienced any side effects, nor can I say just how effective they are other they are probably the best of the non prescription medication. k.

Hi Liz - I have never had any side effects from redormin. In fact I suffer vertigo as a result of Meniere's disease and I find redormin can give me a good night's sleep after an attack. Not sure why you would have nausea.

My personal view is that starting on three a night will not cause you harm. I have taken up to four per night with no side effects but not simultaneously. Having said that I don't see any need to take more than recommended, it seems to work better the longer you take it.

I did not ever try that, I was just thankfull to get 4 hours sleep. Good luck

yes you can but i suggest that you lay there for a half an hour and you will drift back of to sleep.

yes you can but i would start at one one hour before bed and some tips don't let them do anything that stimulates them after taking tablet.
