husbands family, even my mother in law use to make him sandwiches, so he started at around the $14,000 mark and then comes down to $9,500, then tells us about 2 weeks and then another guy, the installer will be out to do a proper measure which happened, he said after the Anzac Day long weekend, they would be installing them, well, that didn't happen, no communication until i rang them to get an update, then they told us they would need scaffolding to do the job safely, which obviously we have no problem with at all, so after another 3 weeks of dicking around and still no communication again until i rang them friday last week, we get a phone call today to say they have been in contact with a scaffolding guy, but he wont get back to them, obviously not a very good person to have doing your jobs, well, then i get a phone call after getting pretty p*ssed off with them on the previous call and they want $3,500 for the scaffolding alone, i told them exactly what i thought and hung up on them. I have just got of the phone to another company, they looked at our house on realestate.com and they said they would not need scaffolding at all, they said the electricians may need some but he does not believe for a second that it would cost anywhere near that, he said if anything more in the hundreds, WHAT A FRICKEN JOKE YOU ARE, DONT DEAL WITH THEM

Don’t use Focus – We signed up beginning of June for new gutters and roof restoration . Didn’t hear from them at all. Rang them on two occasions and finally job finished mid December. Gutters left with scratches. Poor communication. Poor service. Show details

weeks since inspecting) and still no quote. There were 2 of us here on that day and there was no discussion about price. We asked him to consider a number of factors and he told us he would get back to us on Monday. The company replied on google review advising their notes said we were provided a quote on the day. THIS IS NOT TRUE.... why when I called the office on Wednesday chasing up the quote was I told, I can't find the quote??? and then when i spoke to him he said he would send the quote on Monday...?? Very poor customer service and don't appreciate dishonesty.

After Sales Service – It is difficult to get after sales service if the company is not local One of our shutters had to have a motor replaced (run out of warranty by few months) by a Canberra local company I strongly recommend to purchse from local companies ,not Interstate

insisted that the gutters must be blocked or other workers must have damaged the tiling, this is despite no workers being on the roof during my tenancy in the vicinity of the leaks and the gutters cleaned regularly, the leaks are coming in from the centre of the gable roof and may have been for some time. Focus Home Improvements held no accountability nor made any attempt to inspect the roof, instead instantly shifted the blame and recommended I get another roofer to inspect the house as they would not be. If you're looking for home improvements from a reliable company who stands by their work look elsewhere!

accepted. All the contractor did was cleaned the roof off and spray painted it. Painted over the top of the previous capping. (Found out later from our neighbour)When I asked about the saggy roof he said it was fine, I explained that the saggy roof repair was part of the quote, when I read the quote properly it wasn’t there. Yes I’m a complete idiot for trusting them. Now 7 years later and the roof is covered in moss and mould, and the capping on the corners and edges has all come loose. We feel like total fools, but no one has ripped us off since, we learned our lesson.

Unprofessional, expensive and sneaky sales tactics – Hi, [Name Removed] explained Focus offer great value on roof restorations. [Name Removed] came around for a free quote. He was the most expensive out of several obtained and offers seen advertised. His recommended retail price was double the second most expensive quote. kept explaining his prices were confidential and better than competitors because they use front lawn sign advertising and pass the savings onto the customer, a win-win I guess. When [Name Removed] could see no sale would be made, he called someone on his phone. He kept referring to the caller as 'her' which I found suspicious. He came back with a cheaper confidential price from 'her' and thats when I asked, who is 'her'? instead of explaining the business owner or something professional..he stuck to simply 'her' who can get you a crazy deal. Which was still more expensive than other quotes obtained. I recommend for customers to get more than one quote of similar quality work, and be educated about the unprofessional salesman tactics about 'her crazy deal'. I believe he may try this on other quotes and emphasis on a 'confidential' price appears in my opinion to be another sales tactic. He also took his quote with him, which was odd although he did leave his direct phone number. [Name Removed] was not rude and pleasant during the quote except the telemarketer sales tactics at the end. I obviously didn't proceed with the purchase as I wasn't comfortable with the tactics or the price.

Excellent job – excellent job we had the roof renovated ,painted new gutters ,gutter guards. looks great. The tradesmen very efficient ,tidy. and professional .Would most definitely recommend this company to others that were thinking of doing the same. Show reply

Shop around first, I was very dissatisfied – When I asked for a quote the first amount I was given was $7,700 for two roller blinds. I said "No" and asked the sales rep to leave. He managed to reviser the quote down to $5,700 which I again said "No" to. He then managed to get the quote down to $3,300, which was actually reasonable for what I was asking for. I said "Yes" to that and had them installed. Support since then has been pathetic with a number of calls being ignored.

Don't want to do any work – Had a Focus salesman knock on my door to look for business for the local Focus store. I was in the market to get my tiled roof ridge capping repaired as well as getting three section of metal roof painted to match the main tiled roof. quote. The next day I received the call for the contractor and an appointment was made for in two days time. The contractor told me when he first called me that If I was willing to pay cash then there would be a discount applied to the quote. I thought this was a bit strange but would talk to the contractor when he came for the inspection. The contractor never turned up and never left me a message as to why he did not attend. I tried to call him back on the number that he called me from but I just got a message saying the number was not in service. I have tried contacting Focus via their Facebook page but they don't respond and just deleted my posts. I will now look around for a self employed local to do the job instead.

April 2019. had another visit from a Focus salesman driving past. Told me how bad my roof was and I told him I was looking at getting the ridge capping redone. I told him about my last experience with Focus about the previous attempt to get them to do it and he apologised and said he would do a special deal for me. We arranged a time for him to do an inspection but again he never turned up and he has made no attempt to contact me.

Focus just organises contractors to do their work and take a commision for arranging this work. If they don't care about getting work in the first place, I hate to think how hard it would be to get them to fix any problem afterwards.

My mistake NOT reading "Product Review" first – Let this be a warning to everyone. We got FOCUS to restore the roof and clean out the gutter. It took them about four to five weeks to get in touch with us, but only one evening before they wanted to start. are not used to the Customer to be around, as there was NO communication, i.e. we are going for lunch or we are finished for the day or a phone call "we are not coming today, because ...".

All of a sudden we get a phone call "Hello such and such we are please to let you know that the work has been done could you please pay us now" all that in a nice voice.

Our answer, sorry job is not done we are not going to pay until the job is done. Nice voice changes to aggressive, "Well that is a warranty claim and has nothing to do with paying for a finished job". Hang on lady, first of all no one has communicated with us, the customer that the job is done, wee have not inspected the job and from what we can see the job is not finished get your workman to fix the issue.

Well, long weekend comes along and we are out and about and not reachable on the phone (bush-walking in the Vic Alps) and low and behold we get a phone call that the Job is done and here are our banking details pay now. Arriving home, and sure enough, SOME of our complaints have been addressed, some! No the gutter above the pond next to the entry is still full of dirt, the edge of the tiles is colored from the garage to the downpipe, but then it got to hard and left as is looks nice (not) and really professional (not). But how did they manage to get to the PAINT? The paint was behind a looked gate! We haven't given consent to go over the fence. Lucky for them that we kept the paint outside the shed.

Unfortunately we are a bit to trust worthy and as such got burned, so let this be a lesson to everyone.

This is a backyard operation with no customer service and poor workman ship.

BTW: This did happen in Canberra just before the March Canberra long weekend.

5'yr warranty????? What a joke – Roller shutters have bubbling paint on two of the box guards. week ago, I noticed there were two areas now of bubbling (the original area had increased ten times the size). They finally rang back today and we were told that powder coating wasn't included in the 5 yr warranty?? If we want them to inspect, we have to pay $90, then would have to pay for the work to be done. Won't be getting any further orders from us.

Hit and miss – We used Focus for roofing and guttering. The guttering sub contractor was excellent. Assisted with choosing the colours and recommended other houses with similar colours. under paint first time it rained, having to have the work redone. Now have discovered the capping was not done properly and with no weep holes we have problems with moisture seeping down internal frame. Have paid another company to fix it. Should have realised something was not right from the start when we offered a good price which we had to accept that day because he was only authorised to approve a limited number of jobs at that price in our area!

Avoid this company – They called Me to arrange a time to provide a quote on outside blinds (2)and security doors(2). Half hour before the time the rep rang to say that he could probably (?) do a better price next year. Focus Home Improvements....ripped off – I paid $17, 000 dollars to have my roof and gutters replaced. The gutters were supposed to have the gutter guard mounted underneath the roof, and comprised $2000 of the cost. The workers installed the gutter guard on top of the colourbond roof, hence the leaves are getting into the gutters. They also left a roll of metal strapping on the roof,… Read more

presumably this should have been used to secure the gutter guard underneath the colourbond. I could have done the same job for about $100 using gutter guard from any hardware shop.

The roof was installed well...But...the roofers left one corner of my roof open...a convenient entrance for vermin...

I would recommend avoiding this company at all costs!

Best Company Ever !! – Focus Home Improvements recently installed 5 Roller Shutters on our home at Hillbank. The whole package from Salesman through to installer was proffessionally and promptly done. They were on time everytime they said they would and the price and end product was superb.
