Trent the construction manager was very helpful and approachable at all times and was a huge asset in the building process. Questions we have been asked. Q. How long did it take A. Council approvals dragged out to about 4 months, but the build time was originally estimated 10 months and was delivered in 10 months. Q. Are you happy with the house. A. Absolutely it is spectacular. Q. Did you meet all the new laws, eg energy efficiency, accessibility etc. A. Yes 7-star energy rating and all accessibility requirements. Q. Would you recommend to a friend or family to build with. A. Most definitely no hesitation at all. Q. Would we build with them again. A. Absolutely, very professional company with excellent tradesman and their eye to detail is second to none. Q. Did you get value for money. A. Most certainly, the quality lingers long after the cost is forgotten. envisaged. Communication and service throughout was excellent and the Garth Chapman team kept us up to date with progress and timely information. The scheduling of subcontractors was exceptional and there was rarely a day when there was no trade working on site.
The clear highlight of our experience was the exceptional quality of the build, in every component, from the structural construction to all of the finishes and detailing. We did not appreciate this aspect fully when we signed up to build with Garth Chapman. There is a price premium to build with them but you appreciate the value of the investment when you see the finished product. One of their key strengths is attention to detail and this is what delivers an exceptional outcome.

The existing home designs that GCQ have are excellent but making changes and adapting them is made straightforward by their designer. With each change I contemplated I was always kept informed of the cost impacts, so there were never any surprises. The GCQ designer was extremely proactive in offering suggestions and recommendations to meet our requirements within our budget.
Throughout construction I was kept well informed of progress. When decisions by me were needed I was given ample information and plenty of time. Variations were never suddenly sprung on me, they were always discussed and explained in advance. Whenever I had queries, they were responded to in a thorough and timely fashion. I was always made to feel that I was the GCQ's team highest priority, even though I know they had several other clients that were no doubt also being made to feel the same way. It takes skill to have your clients feeling that way and it is a great demonstration of what a superb company that GCQ is.
At final inspection that were only a small number of very minor defects identified, all of which were attended to quickly and without any fuss. The minor little ones that have been identified post final inspection have also been attended to in the same no fuss manner. Speaking of final inspection, the GCQ team put on some really thoughtful touches and created a sense of 'occasion'. It was clear that the GCQ were proud of their work and that they genuinely wanted me to feel the same way - I most certainly did!
Since moving in neighbours, and random punters walking past have frequently commented on how good the house looks. Inside and out the place is fantastic. Entrusting GCQ with designing and delivering our family home was the best decision we could have made. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending GCQ to anyone who is after not just a house, but a high-quality home.

cheap price upfront – this felt more professional and genuine; their detail was more authentic; and the culture of the people showed they had a genuine love of what they did. Our knock down rebuild site had several challenges to overcome, including a narrow frontage and flood level requirements. Our vision was a high quality, well designed Hamptons-inspired modern Queenslander family home. Their designer Kevin worked with us tirelessly and patiently to deliver a design and specification we were very happy with. Although the resulting quoted price was not cheap, it importantly did represent value for money for the detail we wanted and our specification. The construction process was efficient and professional. The construction manager Trent was excellent and kept us well ‘ahead of the curve’ in our decision making process. Likewise, many members of the team and the sub-contractors made helpful suggestions and improvements and were patient in explaining things. We appreciate those even more now that we are living in the home. All the trades were pleasant and courteous to us and seemed proud to be involved in the building of our dream home. The after sales service we have received since moving in has also been excellent and prompt. We absolutely love our new home. I would have no hesitation in recommending Garth Chapman Queenslanders to you as a building company you can trust to deliver a beautiful new home, built with passion and pride.

but the quality of the finished product represents good value. We would definitely use GCQ again but we don’t have to – they have already created our dream home. We first became aware of GCQ whilst searching for an acreage block on which to build and after visiting a display house of theirs we were impressed by the quality of design and finish. While we had a basic idea of what we wanted both in terms of style and layout, the GCQ architect was instrumental is translating those ideas into a workable design and added to the process by suggesting further enhancements to our ideas including reorientating the building envelope to reduce the amount of earthwork needed. We were very happy with the entire process from initial design through building and to the finished house. Building a dream home will always be stressful but the professionalism and good communications of the GCQ team meant that we always felt included and on top of the process. We were always kept up to speed on what was happening on site we were able to resolve any design details/build questions quickly - the GCQ team obviously has a good working relationship with its sub-contractors. The cost was in line with the original estimate with the only variations relating the items that we changed as the building progressed. There was only one minor issue that was discovered post-build and this was resolved satisfactorily and without fuss.

the house is still strong - they are built to last. We have not had any issues and we still love our home! We highly recommend Garth Chapman and given the opportunity would definitely build with them again.
No Better Than A Budget Project Builder !!! – Absolutely cannot treat clients the way we were treated! Our 'custom design' dragged on for 15 mths to get to contract, then another 15 months to build, then another 17 mths to finalise the rectification of over 180!! defects. resulting in multiple, distressing disputes and delays. Yet, the arrogant attitude was pay up and shut up or you'll never get the keys (and still didn't get them at handover - I had to collect them that afternoon from their office!!).
Unrelenting focus on money and maintaining the huge profit margin at all costs; talked up quality, goodwill and customer satisfaction, but did not deliver. The appalling customer relations and service was a betrayal. Astonishingly, the builder had zero embarrassment in handing over a house with shoddy finishes from abysmal quality control. Absolutely cannot recommend this bullying, coercive operator to anyone. We were gouged to the eyeballs.

Predictable ego and deflection from GCQ in knocking Frank for choosing a username and avatar - as everyone does on these sites - to write his verified review. They know who 'Frank' is; just as they will know whom the 'nickname' Haras DumbAss belongs to.)
**Update - in mid 2020 we had both our front and back decks and stair landings completely demolished and replaced. It was deemed a structural issue by the QBCC and they ordered our builder to make reparations. We had to make a complaint to the QBCC as the builder continually denied responsibility. The nails were not in compliance with the building code…they were rusting and most were not long enough and were popping up and could be pulled out by hand. You will be able to see the “Direction to Repair Works” on their record on the QBCC webpage. The ‘black mark’ will remain there for 5 years.

couldn't care less as long as he gets his money. Multiple issues that should have been picked up in the planning stages (2 years) that have subsequently ruined multiple very important aspects of the build that from day 1 were repeatedly asked for. Quality of the building is average at best (we've been in 2 months and I spend all my spare time fixing issues and have MANY more to go). I would make the strongest possible recommendation to avoid this greedy, deceitful and incompetent builder at all costs.
