hello Am thinking actively on getting a dash cam , and i'am asking questions at various forums to obtain a good grasp of its use before getting one . i have trail cameras and find it to be a good way of keeping my privacy from having to connect for upgrades and needing updates .just change the sd card when needed. i would rather be suprised by whats on the sd card then to receive multi-notefications, keeping it simple and would like front /inside /rear views that would not need an iphone if possible .
which one would be a good dash cam that works great without all of the bells and whistles ?
or do i need to install 3 or 4 trail cams instead :)
The dashcam gator 72/82W worked well and connected to the iphone no problem. Then there was an update and then it required internet connection and I think that the company wants all you video files sent to the manufcturer for their viewing pleasure and to encourage sales and general public viewing. This is not with the permission of the dashcam owner and is a breach of privacy. I will try to contact the manufacturers to check.
Rob, as with most updates with any electronic stuff, there are usually new terms and conditions and or policy changes to privacy. Very sneaky of some company's, however I would first read those horrible policy's and conditions as we often "accept them" without reading first. We are all guilty of that at times. Why is my Gator never recording to save especially when it shows it is recording as I can see it on my screen I now need today's for emergency and there is nothing there so how can I back up with getting the card out to find the recording? Will it be there as my iph has nothing
Your message is a little hard to follow, however, if it's not on you IPhone it doesn't mean it's not on the micro sd. I would remove micro sd and put it in a computer to see if it has actually recorded. Then if it has, down load onto computer and save there. If it's not on micro sd card, there is something wrong with camera. Size of micro sd card will determine when it writes over old data, so don't leave it too long to download data after an "incident" and don't rely totally on connection to iPhone for footage. This dashcam doesn't shut up! Always with the ding-dong and GPS connected , but doesn't connect to the wifi and when it does it then chimes and turns the wifi off. Trying to view footage or turn sound and can't get into the damn thing due to its connection issues. Why can't companies make a simple darn dashcam that is user friendly and doesn't drain the car battery activating itself every 10 seconds to say gps connected. POS!!!

what would happen if i reset my dash cam
can not see my pictures and videos from my ghdvr82w dash cam it still takes pictures but can not watch on my i phone.
I already have a rear camera installed. Can I connect that rear camera to the GHDVR82W? As i dont want to have to pull the interior apart to fit a new camera
Its not something I can answer but I would suspect the cabling would be similar so it may well be a possibility, suggest you talk to an Auto Electrician.
Does this Dashcam have a "Parked Mode"?
