always used Gattea now for years for many purchases and maintenance jobs and wouldn’t go anywhere else. The highlight was 2 Ruby anniversary rings which they designed and made. No care given - delays, defects and disrespectful – Unfortunately my fiancé and I had a horrible experience with Gattea over my engagement ring. The ring was not what my fiancé had asked for or delivered on time for the proposal he had planned. After much effort, we got the refund we had asked for weeks earlier and [name removed] now has the band back in his store.

If your still considering using Gattea, see a summary of all the errors made by [name removed] and his team below:

1. Ring size: the initial ring size was smaller than ordered and it took Gattea over 3 and a half weeks to resize.

2. Broken band: within the first few weeks of wearing the ring, the inner rose gold band of my ring started to come away from the outer white gold band. When took the ring to Gattea for repairs, [name removed] told us it was probably a bad batch of smoulder and he would add more joins between the two bands. However, he also added a rhodium plating without consulting us which changed the look of the ring.

3. Gaps: as a result of Gattea’s poor quality, there are visible gaps between the inner rose gold band and outer white gold band

4. Delivery date: My fiance originally planned to propose in May and communicated this with [name removed] in March. [name removed] confirmed the date would be okay. However, the ring was not ready until later in June.

5. Agreed design: the ring was designed in Gattea’s store using their apparently “state of the art” technology in February 2018. My fiancé later sent confirmation of the design to [name removed] prior to manufacturing. However, there are distinct differences between the agreed design and actual product - e.g. in the design the band arcs up to either side of the claw, however there is no arc in the actual ring. [name removed] explained to my fiancé that the ring only looks 70-80% like the agreed design, due to software limitations.

6. Misleading advertising: Gattea were advertising their membership with the Jewellers Association of Australia (JAA) the whole time my fiancé was interacting with them. However, we confirmed with the JAA that they were not members during that entire period and for approximately 18months.

7. Refund: [name removed] was unable to process our refund as we had arranged due to not increasing the store’s daily limit. This meant we were required to return the product without receiving the full refund. Given our experience it was unsurprising that [name removed] and his store had failed yet again!
