GE Credit line is a pathetic excuse for a company now. We’ve had this card for twenty years. Initially it was useful as long as you never failed to pay off items before they became due and always made extra payments if required. Then the monthly account keeping fees kept going up and up. Then they get hacked after doing the bare minimum to help… Read more

keep their clients safe. Then they raise the fees yet again even after failing to protect our financial information. Then they insist on switching you to another card that will no doubt come with hidden conditions. This changes the due date of your payments and apparently GE no longer sends me payment alerts. I get a statement telling me to log in and find out for myself when it’s due. On my account it clearly has a request for alerts. So I contact the company and ask why this is not happening anymore. It is worse than a Monty Python skit as they refuse to answer the question over and over, all the while asking if that satisfies my inquiry? Basically don’t expect anything from these guys anymore, and if they can charge you, overcharge you, or cause you to miss a payment they will. And then they will ignore you or pretend to not understand the question. Company’s like this cater to the financially vulnerable my advice is to avoid them if you are in such a position or struggle to be proactive and timely with your repayments. I haven’t activated the new card they sent me and they started sending me offers for an $150.00 E-gift card if I will only pick it up and spend some money. Not interested after this experience with their Customer service. Will pay off my account and close it down rather than risk dealing with them anymore.

ANGRY !!!!! – I have just finished a phone call with the Indian call centre !!! 50mins on hold & 200 people waiting in front of me !!!!! credit card since 2020 with a ZERO balance since 2022 .

My lastest statement arrived saying I was overdue $22.85. This is for two monthly service fees & two monthly paper statement fees !!!!

I told him I will not be paying these fees & I want the account closed ... At first he said he did not have the authority to credit those fees , I asked to speak to a supervisor , he told me they are too busy. I demanded the $22.85 be credited & this account CLOSED or I would be taking this matter to NSW Fair Trading & suddenly he had the power to credit the $22.85 !!!!

I asked for a receipt number for this phone call which I was given , then he told me that the Account has been closed & I will receive a "closure" letter within 5 - 10 working days !!!

Don't give up if you are in the same position that I was . Reading the reviews , it appears that there are sooo many similar stories !!!!

This company is BODGY & we all know it !!!!

New $10.95 card fee means bye bye GE – I had a GE Creditline account for years having paid off the account in 2022 (bal $0) and hadn't used it since then. Received a text message that we had an amount owing due 25 Aug 24. Checked the account and they had slapped on a $10.95 mthly fee. Rang GE and got thru to an overseas call centre. I was advised that this was a monthly which would… Read more

Had the card for years! – I don’t mind paying a monthly fee, buying items without using cash & up to 60 months interest free to pay it off is great. I personally would not be able to purchase big ticket items outright & am thankful that Creditline enable me to do so. Show details

Best way to buy big ticket items – My wife and I have used G.E for over 10 years and never had to pay interest, we know G.E charges around $1 for each repayment and $4 per month admin fees but we don't mind these small fees. If you show some discipline and stick to a good repayment plan you too can make the most of interest free credit. Go for it we reckon. Show details

Dissapointed – We have been paying off a 60 month interest free for nearly 55 mo ths and have always made payments on time and have always had the payment the same amount during that time We opened our latest statement to find we had a $35.00 late fee We made enquiries as we always make the payment before the due date We were told we were $1.95 short on… Read more

our last payment due to the service fee changing from $6.99 to $9.99 We never received any notation of this increase other than it appeared on our last account As we had been paying the same amount for 55 months we hadn’t checked the statement thoroughly (buyer beware) I am disappointed that a company I have dealt with for a number of years could treat their customers in this way Since paid account out in full and will never have to deal with them again

Staff do not know what they are doing – Had 2 payment plans, one payments deferred 18 months, the other, monthly payment. I paid the monthly payment out,so I thought; they took the $350 of the payment deferred account, charged me late fee on account that was supposed to be all paid up. Then with the only account payable, deferred no payment 18 month. As I did not pay a monthly service… Read more

fee, I got stung late fee. On phoning them I told them, in over 40 years, I never ever paid monthly service fee, each monthly paid it at the end of deferred payment time; they said, no it is a monthly payment. So I got all my old paperwork, told them, at no time have I ever paid service fee each month, have proof in my hand. You are wrong, So I asked them closing balance, owed $1099, paid an extra $120 for their so called late fee, and owed service fees. owing with service and later fee . I got the payout figure, paid them out never using them again ever, 40 years with them many thousands spent, dont touch them with a barge pole. Also watch out for the scam they do: if you have 2 payment plans, say one for $500 and one for $1500 payment deferred for 18 months, and you go to post office and pay them $500 , they will take the money off the $1500 plan, leave you thinking you've paid off one account in full; but you still owe the original $500 on it, then hit you with late fee. If that happen to you, phone them tell them Consumer affairs; I did, and made them pay the first account out and retract the late fee.

Disgusting customer service and unauthorised withdrawals from my streamline account – I am so sick of how my account was handled. There’s too much crap around with how my account was dealt with causing me stress and confusion within the last few days and charging me 2 dishonour fees for reasons that aren’t my fault. the full amount of my Apple purchase. On top of the 2 $64 I tried to process. So I might as well have just paid for it upfront. 2) I got 2 dishonour fees as this whole amount now was returned to my streamline account including 1 $64 payment. 3) before I had knowledge of this I just wanted to close my account because of my atrocious interaction with the customer service team as I waited 30 minutes on the phone only to be not helped at all whatsoever, to be condescended and to have them repeat irrelevant information when I can’t even access the online site 4) I got this letter of direct debit dishonour when I just wanted to close my account. Because it was all paid and I’m just sick of dealing with them. 5) they refunded me the whole amount of the Apple purchase when I just wanted to close my account with them 6) I received no statements whatsoever. 5) I’m trying to pay $62 saying “Pay immediately” because they refunded the unauthorised transaction of the full amount. before my $128 has been refunded and it won’t even let me. And I don’t know what other fees this is gonna slap me with. 6) online site won’t let me log in.

Always looking to charge a late fee and not allocating payment to high $$ value purchases – If our monthly minium payment is $25 and I pay $1000 the month before, if you don't pay $25 the next month you get a $30 late fee. They used to send out payment reminders or notification of statement via email or sms but that has stopped so i can only assume to catch out as many consumers as possible to… Read more

cash in on the late fee.

Customer service is hard to deal with so ensure you have your facts and ask for a transcript of the conversation. Our last issue was new low $$ purchases being paid off first when older high value purchases were not having any money ollocated to them. This meant massive interest charges older items although they were paid off in time. Took some effort but they finally reversed the charges but only after alot of time on the phone and online chat.

Mixed But Overall Not Happy – We have had a GE Creditline card since we bought a dishwasher in our first home. That was over 20 years ago. When GE Money was in control of the company overall it was a good credit product and pretty well did what it said on the tin. We would go to Hardly Normal and purchase a widget for the house and put on 2,3 or 4 years interest free and I… Read more

would budget the payments and no problem.

One issue to be aware of is the payment is due in three weeks from the date of the statement, not four. As long as this is kept in mind it works fine.

I have never been charged interest.

However, and perhaps this is unfair, Lattitude took over and within a short period of the takeover, COVID appeared. Lattitude seems to be not as good a company as GE was. I cannot tell if it is their policies or the way they market to the retailers however suddenly 24 months interest-free is no longer 24 equal payments (for example) meaning they divert payments to the shortest expiring deal rather than pay down equally any overpayments. Worse you have to call and specifically request them to divert the money as you intended and for goodness sake do not try and arrange for them to do this monthly. They created such a colossal mess in my account I am still not sure it is resolved.

Unfortunately, since Lattitude has taken the finance over I have twice so far had to lodge a complaint via the financial ombudsman's office. The first time they were trying to create a debt for me to pay interest on by not being transparent at the retail point of sale the deal was no payments and no interests and were building up a debt for the future. As I am rigorous in tracking and documentation this was sorted fairly promptly.

The second they hid behind terms and conditions and were uncooperative.

I work in a field where contracts are commonplace. There is a well known saying. He who hides behind the contract terms and conditions loses. This doesn't mean they won't get paid. What it does mean is I am here telling everyone about it, and have also smashed our debt to them by over $10,000 and do not intend to expand borrowing with them again. I hope they are happy they got the payment for $800 from me in under 3 months as per their terms and conditions...I am sure it was worth it, it was an excellent business deicision for a finance company.

I guess this is why I am mixed. On one hand, we couldn't have managed without this card in the way we have over the last 20+ years, on the other, it is my intent to completely abandon the use of this card going forward due to underhand and less than transparent sales practices.

I think if a younger person asked me, and was in the same position we were, I would talk to them about using it, the warnings around using it and encourage them to maintain rigid records and control to avoid the more recent practices.

Very Sneaky company – Keep an eye on your account, you have to really watch how they allocate money to your interest free purchases otherwise you will get caught out paying interest. We always pay off in time but do our own maths and keep a very close eye on how they allocate money. They pay off purchases early leaving others in arrears. time I was unable to make repayments or do anything with the card, I was left sitting in limbo, even though I had the money sitting there to pay it off. I thought fair enough thats fine they have to lock the account.

Unfortunately on top of this the investigation lasted 12 months - I no longer had an interest free card, I had a card with the interest akin to a payday loan. Astronomical account keeping fees, repayment fees along with any other fee they could tack on.

Their communication is crap, their website doesnt work half the time so you cant make repayments - I even sit here right now waiting for their page to load so I can make another payment. Their customer support is crap, half the payment methods do not work. I am positive they make it as difficult as possible to make a payment on their cards just out of spite. Please do not go near these guys unless you absolutely need to.

Also worth noting that these guys also operate under the "interestfree" name, and their website is now interestfree.com.au
