We have just completed a renovation and a new master bedroom was added to the house. we took the recommendation from both the builder and the electrician To install a Fujitsu branded split system. We only have one other split system in the house which is a Midea with a similar capacity. So far with use during the middle of winter in Melbourne it seems to be heating up the master bedroom and keeping temperature quite well. We opted for the additional Wi-Fi module to be installed so that we can better control the device and make schedules and use Google Voice Assistant. Heat output is easy to control, the unit itself is not overly noisy which is perfect for being placed right above the bed head. In comparison to the other brand, so far they are quite similar however I feel in this case the biggest let down of the device is the wireless app. You spend extra money to get the module as it's not integrated by default. It appears that there are additional features within the app that you can only unlock and use if you pay for a subscription which does not sit right with me after a large investment.

Examples of this are energy saving features, certain automation, detailed logs and graphs of your usage, individualized user settings and temperatures, weather and pollution info and power usage statistics to name a few. The base use is open, but beyond this, you are prompted to pay.

Yes there are some features that you could argue cost the manufacturer to link into, however some of the simple features like coil dry technology to prevent mold buildup on the unit works via the dedicated remote, why should I pay to unlock via the app??

The additional cost for this Plus subscription is $4.16 per month month if you pay annually and they offer a free trial of only 2 weeks, why not on purchase 2 years and then pay, seems someone has misread the Austrian market on this one as I doubt many will be subscribing here and just default to use this as a standard split system via remote.

Considering that some of these features are default in the cheaper brands and their apps with no extra cost, it is a bit of a let down from Fujitsu. This is almost as bad as purchasing a luxury car with built in features and then paying additional just to use them.

pros: - affordable unit and Electrician recommendation as to a brain that has good support and few issues - Maintains Temperature - Easy to use remote and basic app features with Additional module - very quiet to run - so far has been very affordable to run based on our power bill

cons: - needing to purchase the additional Wi-Fi module seems backwards in today's era of smart homes. - this subscription service to use built in features via the app after already buying the wifi module to use the app just does not sit right with me, almost to point if I had of known, I would of looked at other brands.

Hi Cosgrove, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and honest review of your new split system. It is fantastic to hear that your master bedroom renovation is complete and that the unit is keeping you warm and comfortable during the Melbourne winter. We are especially pleased to hear the quiet operation is working well for you, particularly with the unit placed right above the bed head.

We also sincerely appreciate your candid feedback regarding the Wi-Fi module and the Airstage Plus subscription. We understand your frustration regarding the additional costs for features like energy usage statistics, advanced automations, and detailed logs, especially after making a significant investment in your home.

Your comparison to the "luxury car" model and your comments on the Australian market's expectations for integrated smart features are very valuable to us. We are constantly reviewing our digital offerings and subscription models based on direct customer feedback like yours to ensure we are providing the best possible value and experience. Regarding the 'Coil Dry' technology, we hear your point, while it remains accessible via the remote, we understand the expectation for it to be a standard feature within the app experience as well.

I have shared your review with our product and digital development teams for their consideration as we look to improve our future app updates and hardware integrations.

Thank you again for choosing General Australia. We hope you continue to enjoy your newly renovated space

Hey team, great to hear the feedback is heard, its one reason I leave reviews in hope companies read them and absorb the good and the bad, especially for cases where the customer may not have been involved in the direct purchase i.e. a trade install.

I hope to one day see the app improved to a point any extra $ may be worth it or stripped entirely to give value add to your impressive Airstage lineup.

Some more feedback - if the subscription is still warranted, new units should come with this for at least 2-3 years for a product like this. Then if someone sets up a new account and links a new account with an old serial/unit, then a cost to open up 'resale' could be warranted. Once off pricing should be offered. I believe Australians in current economy are becoming suspicious of all these subscription services, savy even when it comes to reviewing those monthly line items, and believe me when I say, the first one to be cancelled will be the aircon ;)

Hi Cosgrove, Thank you for the follow-up. We value your feedback, especially regarding trade installs. We’ve noted your suggestions on bundled subscriptions, once-off pricing, and resale options. Your insights on subscription fatigue have been shared directly with our product and app teams for consideration in future roadmaps. Thanks for helping us improve the Airstage experience.

Disappointed. Missing basic features – I bought this to replace my bedroom unit which was a 3.5kw Kelvinator which was a bit of a noisy unit although worked well before it died at 10 years old. Switching on this Fujitsu unit for the first time. My first impressions were of sheer disappointment regarding the lack of a digital readout on the head unit to tell of what temperature it was set at especially being a bedroom unit and in the dark. To make matters worse the remote has no backlit feature either so you're guessing of what you are doing in the dark and probably losing sleep when you get it wrong. While I might say this unit is quiet and does the job. I wouldn't say I could leave a door open and have it cool a few rooms other than my bedroom or very much thereof something of which my old 3.5 kw unit never had much trouble with doing. Mind you I didn't run it on powerful mode either so I'm yet to try this at a lenghthy period of time. I also do have a 5kw unit in my kitchen which has no problems cooling a few rooms on a hot day and being ice cold directly when needed. It is a Hisense and I bought for much less than this Fujitsu, it does have a digital readout and freezing cold when it needs to be and or hot in winter time and I've been running it non stop now for almost 3 years with no troubles other than to clean it's filters and fan wheel of the mold they collect over time. My Hisense unit also has a backlit remote and has also WiFi capability and has Alexa remote capability. Honestly I wish I had gone with another Hisense but I was advised not to. They have a wider more asthetically pleasing head unit with all the functions you need to be able see it in the dark. Even the remote glows in the dark so you can find it easy and if not control the thing with your phone. Not all things made in PRC are as bad as some people make out they are

Quiet and Powerful – Purchase a 5kw comfort range and the unit works well and operates quietly. Seems to be a more efficient model compared to my previous unit, as both outdoor and indoor unit are smaller and improved.

High Quality & Stylish Split Cycle AirConditioner – We recently made the decision to upgrade our study with a Fujitsu Comfort 2.5w split cycle, and we couldn't be happier! It boasts sleek design elements which blend in seamlessly with our room. Its build quality is top-notch and - above all else – incredibly quiet. Our installer remarked on how reliable these models are known for being. This unit keeps us cool even on hot days without an issue and is very energy efficient. We highly recommend!
