WORST DESIGNED air conditioner in the world! – I have made an account just to share my frustrations with this heat pump. I did not buy this nor would I have bought it, it came with the house. This has got to be the worst designed heat pump to try and clean out. The panel does not stay open by itself so you have to hold it open with one hand and try and get the filters out which is reasonably… Read more

easy enough but it does get dust everywhere trying to pull the filter out through it. However unlike any heat pump I've seen before, it has a panel with a grid on it between the outer panel and filter, to hold the filter in place I assume. This middle panel gets absolutely caked in dust and mould and to take it out you have to unscrew it and unclip it. It then has two further non washable filters on it under the mesh filters. If that isn't bad enough it also has a non removable plastic grid grill over the mesh filter on the top side of it which gets covered in dust aswell. The other air conditioners I have don't have any additional grills on top of the mesh filters and the filters can be easily removed and cleaned. There's also lots of hard to clean grooves and crevices that fill with dust and mould.

Why I write about my frustration cleaning it is because it gets full of mould and dust. I don't keep a dusty or mouldy home but this thing gets covered in black mould on the filters and the fins, and under the panels, and then it starts stinking! The coils behind the filters also get covered in dust. I have to clean it out every week. It also spits water out of it on occasion, usually when changing the fan speed. Additionally the fin oscillation makes a loud creaking sound.

Initially I thought there was a problem with it such as a blocked hose or something. But after having a Fujitsu technician out I'm told there's nothing wrong with it and that all air conditioners get mouldy and spit water out of them, and that the oscillation noise is within the manufacturers specifications. I mean to say it spat a lot of water right in the technician's face. I've never had any of those issues with past air conditioners from different brands or any of the other (all non-Fujitsu) air conditioners in my home and I won't be paying the $430 bill from them!

So anyway I'll be replacing it with a Panasonic one with an ioniser that inhibits that growth of mould and odors. I think this sounds like a must have feature if you're living somewhere humid.

And as per the other reviews complaining about the lifting mechanism, yes I think such a design is asking for future trouble and the top panel doesn't even cover the bottom fin when closed nor does the fin close, so I'm not sure what the point of it is really.

Ultimately I would say stay far away from any Fujitsu air conditioners.

And any reviews saying it is quiet have to fake because it is loud even on the lowest fan speed!

working fine – got that device July 2019. Working fine for heating and cooling. Takes ~5 minutes to get started,... Question though: Last year, when we turn on heating, there was quite a bit for water coming out of the outside unit. We had the installer come back to attach a pipe so water is not running down the external wall. This year, we're heating quite a… Read more ·  1

bit and so far,... no water whatsoever! Is there supposed to be constantly condense water from the outside unit in heating mode? Again, there's nothing so far, even when heating all day. Just checking if that's fine as such, or if the pipe might be blocked causing a (long term) damage? Thanks

Have installed these in our last two houses and looking to use them again in the next! – We have owned 4 of these designer split systems in our last 2 homes. Both places we had a 5kw and 2.5kw units. Their performance has been excellent! Even on the hottest summer days we have had running the two units in our home have kept it cool. We have never had an issue with the units and are constantly being used. We no longer use Gas ducted… Read more ·  1

heating because these units perform so well. We just bought our next new home and I'm seriously thinking of buying these again. Only down side is that in the past 6 years this unit hasn't advanced. Many of the other competitors now offer wifi conectivity. It will be out of the Fujitsu Designer range or the Daikin Zena ranges.

Biggest waste of money – Had it for 5 years and had to get it repaired twice in that time. It’s now a month out of warranty and it’s not working again!!! I just got repair quote from Fujitsu for $834.17 (turns out that the coil is now broken)!!! I’ve hardly been able to use it in the time I have had it due to issues, so I definitely would NOT recommend this product if you want something long lasting (even if it does look nice). Show details

Perfect product, so quiet, can’t live without it – we bought this machine last year , it was installed beautifully, and the machine itself work beautifully as well, very quiet, very smooth, and most of all , very energy saving, the machine is easy to use ,once you set up your liking, all you need just one press. Highly recommended.  Show details

Ecxcellent Fujitsu split system – Very happy overall and found slightly better with cooling compared to heating and unit very quite. Installation seems quite simple and completed in 2-3 hours time by technician and we like this unit as quite easy to use for controlling temperatures and change settings to different modes as required with weather conditions and finding economical with power usage compared to existing other split air conditioning units.  Show details

Effective Aircon – 5kw unit's performance is quiet, need to be outside to hear it work and even then you have to listen hard. Installation was done in a very efficient manner and minimal disruption to home. Installer easily explained settings on remote and now would not be without it. would certainly recommend installer as a great outfit  Show details

good unit – We got the 2.5kw and 5kw models one for the bedroom and one for the lounge room, the 5kw is a fair bit quieter than the 2.5kw, they both are reasonably quiet, however we can just hear the 2.5kw compressor running opposite a brick veneer wall, the 5kw is practically not audible through the wall. we got these ones due to the energy rating a price… Read more

was a bit cheaper than the others. they do not come with plumbing equipment for gas, some other brands might come with them, not a big deal though unless you were going to DIY install perhaps go with a brand that has the tubes supplied, however you may as well just pay someone the 500 bucks or so each that there is to install these units, saves you the hassle...

Compact Inside Unit, stylish, fan noisy at high speed – I purchased this brand and model based on having great experiences with previous Fujitsu Air Conditioners. And this model is the largest capacity in Slim line internal head unit. Given the small internal head unit it pumps out a good amount of cool air. Has lots of functions, namely the Powerful function which maxes out the fan speed and run… Read more

the outdoor compressor at full capacity to pump out instant cold air. I use this feature a lot.

This model capacity is a little under powered for my room size but I wanted the slim stylish internal head unit. Other models have ridiculous over sized internal head units that look ugly and out-dated style. Fan speed set on medium/high to high is very noisy, but having said that it does pump out a lot of air. I guess thats the trade off on those hot 40degree days.

Not having smart phone app based functionality is the reason i gave it 4 stars. This option have been available in Europe and USA for over 2 years now, the fact Fujitsu Australia has not kept up with overseas offerings and other brands is putting there brand well behind the game. If this is a feature you require you can obtain 3rd party wi-fi remote receivers for air conditioners, but its a shame Fujitsu Australia still dont have this feature available.

Overall i'm happy with this model from Fujitsu, I just wish they would offer larger capacity models in the Designer range.

One of the best – I am extremely happy with it and will highly recommend it to any one that is thinking of getting an aircon. It looks really good, not noisy until you push powerful button.. The remote is a little big but easy to use... My installer done a great job, very clean and very helpful.. Over all very happy..  Show details

It's what we needed! – Both heating and cooling performance is great ! It's medium in noise...not to loud but you know when it's on. I have to pay an air conditioner to installed it then I had to pay more extra to get the compressor away from the area....as I did not want the look of it near our barbecue area ! It's not complicated but if I have problems....I always tell my husband what I want  Show details
