Excellent high speed handling tyres – I'm in nz and the directional 5 handle really good dry grip steering high speed corners bends 75kph sweeping bends 130 kph no sliding i have a honda integra dc5 type s and yep im very impressed
Great – Swapped to these from Directional 5’s both are great. Very grippy wet or dry, they did really well in the heavy week of rain in NSW, very controlled over sheets of water depsite being on 1300kg car. They feel the same as asymetric 5 tyres, which were excellent. They are only 10 weeks old and the last set lasted 30k/14 months of hard driving so I… Read more
can’t complain. Goodyear has a little case of “wokeness” recently so I hope the quality doesn’t suffer.
Excellent grip, decent handling and a quiet ride – These were purchased to replace some incredibly noisy/ harsh riding 19" Continental Sport Contact 6 tyres. The handling of the Continentals was superb, but the noise on coarse surfaces and feeling every bump in the road grew tiresome. There was also zero wheel rim protection on the Continentals. The Asymmetric 5 is softer riding and comparatively… Read more
very quiet on coarse surface roads. The steering feel and handling response is no longer razor sharp (feels more disconnected), but the grip is still great. They have enough rim protection to prevent wheel damage if you lightly touch a curb.
A great tyre if you want something that grips well without getting a harsh noisy ride. Probably not the best tyre if all out handling is your priority.

Good tyres but there is possibly a perception/visual problem looming with the tyre thread – Had 2 front wheels on my wife's Benz B200 replaced. Performance wise, on par if not better than the replaced Contisport5 tyres. However, after just 1000 km mileage (i.e. due to lockdown), I have noticed that the tyre thread (sipes) running perpendicular to the longitudinal groove (i.e. area marked red in attached picture) is wearing off much… Read more
faster. On closer scrutiny of the area wearing off, you will find that the thread there is of a shallower depth (i.e. the base wall has a rib/dimple). Now, with further wearing of the tyre, the patch on this thread will grow bald much sooner. Not sure this will subsequently affect performance but it will certainly give the perception of uneven wear on the tyre; thus compelling some people to change the tyre sooner than expected.
I was happy with them until I noticed sidewall lumps – I've had these on my vehicle for about 2000km. I did an interstate trip in shocking storms and was completely satisfied with their wet weather performance. In the dry they're great and the handling is about as good as I would expect for a 235/55R17 tyre on an SUV. Now the problem- I just discovered a large depression in the sidewall of one tyre.… Read more
Checking the other tyres there is a noticeable depression on a second tyre, a third has a smaller depression that is hard to pick up in a photo.
So now I'm waiting to see what happens with a warranty claim. I noticed some other posts mentioning side wall issues. If it wasn't for the side wall problems I'd be rating these four stars.
Update- so these were purchased through an online vendor and I've just had confirmation they are replacing both tyres for free.

Check you get what you think you are getting – I bought a set of these 13 months and 17,000km ago. Imagine my shock when today I was told by the same place that fitted them, Beaurepairs, that the back tires were barely legal, what the?? 2mm tread depth left. My car is front wheel drive, how can the rear tires wear faster than the fromt ones? Beaurepairs said that the rear tires had worn… Read more
evenly so its not a case of misalginment causing the damage.
Sure they grip in wet and dry, but if they only last < 20,000 km I wont be buying them again and would not advise anyone else to either.
BOO Goodyear!!
Edit - turns out shame on me for not checking! Beaurepairs contacted me today - they had billed me for 4 tires a year ago but only fitted 2 new ones, which explains the fact that the (old) rear tires had no tread left. After I was complaining at their shop yesterday the dug out the paperwork and discovered the error. I received a call today, took the car back and the new tires were fitted, balanced etc. at no charge.
Well done Beaurepairs. I will have to wait and see how these tires wear over time.
Apologies Goodyear.

Is good – These tyres are brilliant when new, grip is awesome and you wouldn't know it's wet if it wasn't for the rain on the windscreen. Similarly braking, taking off, just the best. However like any tyre, these properties slowly decreased with wear. By the time they are done, there is a noticeable drop off in grip, wet performance whilst still good, is… Read more
no longer very, very reassuring. That's not to say it's bad by any means, they are still way better than most other tyres I've had when those tyres were new.
But all this grip comes with the downside of wear. Not horrific at around 28,000Km for the front wheels, the rears are twice that. Considering they are on an Alfa, that's 'enjoyed through the bends', it's hard to complain. The wear was also quite even and they held pressure well, rarely needing adjustment,
Road noise is high, but that's why radios have volume controls!.
If you drive a powerful RWD car, then seriously consider these tyres, you'll appreciate the ability to put the power down in all conditions. FWD owners can wave 'bye bye' to understeer!
good in dry but not so great in wet – Tyres fitted to 175kw front wheel drive Mitsi 380 (1600kgs or so) and have no complaints about dry grip, seem to be lasting better than the F1GSD3s I had prevoiusly. Steering feel in the dry seems as good as the GSD3s. Main reason I bought them was to match the wet grip of the GSD3s but they have never been as good. The GSD3s were made in… Read more
Germany whilst the D5s are made in China and it seems from the wear and the lack of wet grip that they have used a harder compound. I find that they spin easily in the wet and are no match for the GSD3s which gripped exceptionally well in the wet, right down to the wear bars. It is easy to lose the front on cambered roundabouts but in saying that, they are fairly easy to gain control back.
They a good tyre but not up to the standard of the GSD3 and I will look for something else at replacement time. Prob suit a FWD which is lighter in the front end and maybe less powerful. My Driving style prob plays a factor but then you dont buy these tyres to drive like a nanna.

Always a Goodyear!!! – I Had 4 x Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 Tyres Fitted To My 1994 TS Mitsubishi Magna Sedan Two Years Ago And Have Found The Dry Grip Very Impressive, Comfortable Ride, Low Tyre Noise, Steering Response Is Extremely Good, Wet Weather Grip Is Most Impressive. A Very High Quality Tyre At A Competitive Price. Will Definitely Purchase Goodyear Tyres Again !! Show details
Changed from Dunlop Sport Maxx RT's – My vehicle had Dunlop OEM tyres fitted from new - the original Sport Maxx wore evenly with good mileage, I changed to RT's as "racing technology" tyres but had to swap out to Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 5, have not looked back, very hard to wheel spin under heavy acceleration from a standing start, brilliant cornering in the dry and extremely stable in… Read more
the wet, road noise is ok just slightly noisier than the RT's but the wheel feedback is massively improved - I like to know where the car heading as I drive. Good looking tyre with impressive performance - 10k on tyres so far with no visible wear, just completed a wheel rotation, balance and alignment - no issues found - if you are looking for price, quality and performance then try these - mine are 245/35/R19 $265 each
Tyre of choice – Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 has been excellent on my Golf GTi. Amazing grip and very quiet, with a sidewall bezel that helps protect the rim from light scrapes on gutters etc. Usually get 40000kms. Also used the SUV variant on Mazda CX7 which helped reduce the road noise significantly. Again amazing grip but harder to test on an SUV. Got more… Read more
than 50000kms from memory.
Finally have had an issue with 2 tyres on a Touareg but was very impressed with Goodyear who acknowledged the issue and replaced all four tyres at pro-rata wear.
So great tyres, and excellent support when needed. On to the Assymetric 3 SUV now.

Less than 10,000 km and tyres are not road worthy – Bought 4 new Eagle tyres in July 2018, 12 months later and only 10,000 km the tyres are not road worthy, expensive and not worth the hassle. Trying to get in touch with supplier to see what can be done Show details
Not great tyres at all – Not at all happy with these tyres that came fitted to my 125i. They have lumpy walls (not a typo) which I’m guess means the walls have failed. All 4 tyres, so not a one off pothole. And they are cracked and pitted around the edge of the tread. They seem to lose air quickly too, I get regular pressure loss warnings from the car and sure enough at least one tyre will be at 20psi. Show details

not a performance tyre – positive first - very good wet grip when new. Unfortunately that's all these tyres have going for them In the dry they are rubbish. Response to steering input is slow with big slip angle apparent and they start protesting early when put under lateral load (queue understeer and sliding). Very poor heat tolerance with what little grip they have… Read more
diminishing after a couple of km of spirited driving on a windy road. After 5000 km on these they have lots of tread depth left however the rubber has hardened and chipping is apparent across the face of the tread.
They are now dangerous and can only be driven on very sedately without the rear breaking loose - i am throwing these away and replacing with michelins PS4 or bridgestone RE003

Solid Performing Tyres - Excellent Value for Money – I had just come off a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4, and these Goodyear's are a big improvement in road feedback which is important. They give an excellent overall feeling of control, the performance in dry and wet conditions is excellent, the noise levels are great, it has an excellent sidewall to protect your rims, and they are very… Read more
competitively priced, much cheaper than the Michelin's, so overall we have a winner here...did I mention that my fuel efficiency went up? Yep....these are better on fuel too, was noticing around 60-70km extra on the same route, pretty amazing.
The only thing I haven't seen yet is the wear, but the other reviews I have read, suggest that they have great wear too..
So there you have it, an excellent tyre that does a great all round job, I'm using them on my Mazda 3 MPS 2008. Will be buying them again.
Surprisingly very good – Put set on my SS Commodore and noticed significant improvement in both handling and wet weather grip. I pushed it in wet to limits and noticed when I deliberately slid out, recovery was surprisingly quick. Show details
Quiet and grip well – So I've had these for a day and immediately noticed how much better they were compared to my outgoing Pirellis. Had a massive downpour here today so a great day to get them fitted and see wet weather performance and wow they stick the car to the road like glue! Driving on metro roads and very smooth, very happy. Had them fitted to my 2005 VZ SS… Read more
at 235/40r18. Only thing i forgot to ask the guy at beaurepairs was the recommended running pressure at my size.
Excellent Mileage – I can't fault these tyres. Now on my third set (Commodore 3.0L). First set 86,500km, second set 91,500km and only changed due to a puncture in one. They are rotated every service (15,000km) as the rears wear quicker. Excellent grip in both wet and dry. Show details
300rwkw VF Calais V running high 12sec on F1 Goodyear 245 40 19 – Very pleased with my Goodyear F1 tyres, I've had Toyo comfort tyres, coopers, hankooks and many more. I'm a trade technician and trained on VW, Peugeot, Audi and Suzuki. I've been involved in offloading, kart racing, street machine drag racing and owned over 30 cars. they look like new. I've done 30 green slip runs at the drags with slight wheel spin to flick the water off and achieved a great 12.9sec quarter mile on a bad 30kph head wind. I cruise long distance going on holidays and have no complaints. I drive hard on tyres but keep my pressure up and like low noise tyres. Will be buying again. 10/10
Very smooth tyres – This is the first time I put Goodyear’s on my car. Had other premium brands costing a lot more in the past but these tyres are a lot smoother as well as being great in the wet. Highly recommended. Show details
Extra grip in the wet – Great in the wet they push the water away They have already outlasted the Tyers they replaced i feel more in control of my car during cornering and braking and my car just seems to hold the road better The service people at Coburg Tyers are just great I would recommend them to anyone Show details · 1
I found the grip decreased with age – When these tyres were new i thought they were brilliant, when it was wet I didn't even know it because the grip was insane! However as time went by i found the grip got worse and worse, even though there was plenty of tread left. I eventually (the day after i slid off a round-a-bout in the wet whilst driving slowly) had to throw them out with… Read more
less than 10,000kms on them because they got to a point they i had little traction in the dry and they were downright dangerous in the wet. This was disappointing considering how much i paid for them.

Avoid like the plague – Initially I was full of praise, then took my C63 in for a service. After 10k miles they had split all around between the inside wall and the tread, even though the tread still had 4mm across. I do mainly motorway driving and always maintain correct pressures. Fantastic Tyre – I just swapped over these tyres and must say i was damn impressed. 100k on the front and 80k on the rears. couldn't have been happier. unfortunately i got talked into trying the dunlop DZ102's and my god are the dunlops rubbish. for the $20 dollars extra, definitely go for the eagle F1's. i rarely experienced loss of traction even in wet… Read more · 2
conditions and never experienced frightening under steer. My current dunlops, i experienced under steer within the first 2000km around a roundabout at a reasonable speed and was the most frightening experience i've ever had. even at the end of the Eagle F1's life i never experienced this at the same roundabout. (both in the dry!)
Couldn't recommend the eagle F1's more highly. will happily vouch for them any day of the week. will be going back to them once the shitlops are through.
Great all round tyre – Bought these in a 3 for 4 special for my VZ Commodore wagon and so glad I did. Great road grip in the dry and top performance in the wet for a 245/50 tyre. Good thick tread pattern and no vibration whatsoever at higher speeds. Highly recommend to anybody needing new boots. Show details · 1
So far so good – What can I say, had these tyres on for around 5,000km and they are nice and quiet for a direction tyre. So far they have, been excellent in the wet and dry conditions. I rate these just as good, if not better than the other premium brand tyres. Highly recommend to shop around and see if you can find the buy 3 get 1 free deal Show details · 1
Offroad and mountain terrain still going strong – Very durable tyres. Have been using the current set for 4 years now and still going strong. Have taken them offroad and in mountain roads and they perform very well. I drive quite aggressive and these tyres perform well under pressure. I haven't felt them slip much and they grip to the road. Very impressed and would definitely buy again. Show details · 1
Great all round tyre – They are simply amazing. Certainly worth fitting your car out with them if you find them on special. My V8 responds as good in the wet as in the dry. As always make sure they are aligned every year or so. I have had a few blow outs in country areas but I can't blame the tyre for that. Show details
Great Tyre, Lower road noise – Noticeably quieter tyre than the dunlops sp sport 600 that were originally on the car. Great handling tyre and have had them on the car for 4 years now. They still have plenty of tread left on them & I've put them through some harsh corners. Overall they are a great tyre and reasonably priced Show details
Over 70,000kms now – I have a full set on a 2007 Subaru Legacy. I've never lost traction, wet or dry, and I don't drive like a nanna. I bought my 205/50R17s for $160 NZD each and my only problem is that they're double the price now! It would be an easy decision to replace with the same tyre if they weren't so expensive. Not sure whether other brands will last as long though. Show details
Absolute Rubbish – Had these tyres fitted to Ford Focus LW Mk 2 Titanium as OEM tyres. Yes they were "Ok" at the beginning ( But all tyres should be, right !) but as I had them rotated & balanced and as time went by it got worse & worse. By 40,000 the tyre shimmied and road noise unbearable. So I turned the radio up to compensate for the noise. The tyre noise coming… Read more
off the tyres are truly shocking. I am amazed that Goodyear can sell such defective products. One word to describe my opinion of these tyres " RUBBISH". AND WORSE still as you get into the high 30k , 40 the noise is unbelievable. I seriously doubt you could get 60,000 out of these tyres. These tyres are probably only good for burnouts.
Very happy with these tyres – I got four of these on as a set at a really good price. Made in Thailand but as soon as they put a full set(4) on the car it was obvious these are much better then the previous set. The car brakes, and corners much better, rain or shine. I have been using these for a little over two years and done about 30000 km. Would buy again for sure. Show details
Worst High Performance Summer Tires I have used! – These tires come stock with the 2016 Camaro SS. Tires started to make loud noises at 14,000km followed by severe vibration over 80km/h. I couldn't believe the tread ware on all 4 tires.. and the lack of grip around turns.. not much of a performance tire. Looking forward to the Michelin Super Sports next summer!!! Show details
Lasted forever – Had these on my 2011 wrx. Great grip for first 80000km. Only just replaced at 100,000km due to running over a piece of metal and one going flat. And that wasnt the easiest 100000km. So great tyres. I am trying a softer grippier tyre next time tho so i know they wont last as long Show details
Good handling but terrible wear – These came highly recommended but quite expensive. The handling is great in both wet and dry and minimal road noise. He said they're more worn than the fronts. I realise they're… Read more
performance tyres but in the size that I need, 235/45 x 18, there's not a lot of choice. I drive a 2012 Ford Mondeo and I'm far from a high performance driver. I drive around the metro area with the occasional country trip.
I bought these on interest free finance so will be paying the bloody things off after I buy new ones.
Never again. I'm going for something cheaper next time, which will probably last twice as long.
