Haier HRF680YPC

This fridge looked good and worked well for the first 18 months or so before the icemaker stopped producing ice reliably. For a while it would randomly produce for a few days and then stop again, but ultimately all it was doing was dumping water into the ice tray which then froze in a solid block. So I arranged for service (thru Fisher & Paykel) and the guy told us that they'd replace the ice maker and circuit board, but if that didn't work, "there was nothing much they could do". So (after a delay while they ordered the parts) they initially replaced the ice maker unit, but that didn't work, so they later replaced the circuit board. That produced immediate results for about a month, but it's again stopped making ice and we can no longer access the fridge controls because it's not possible to turn off the child lock. I suspect the circuit board is faulty. We need an icemaker. I specifically bought the fridge because it's supposed to make ice. The moment I can find a fridge that fits our slot, I will be replacing this thing. It's been disappointing. I will be avoiding Haier as a brand.

i've had this for a bit now, so far so good can't complain and tbh i love it!
Purchased at Harvey Norman.
Useless water dispenser – Bought the fridge because it has plumbing chilled water however the water coming from the dispenser is even warmer than the room temperature water. Logged the complaint and the technician said it was supposed to be like this. Very unhappy with the product and do not recommend it to anyone.

High quality for a good price – This is a new product line and there weren't any reviews so i thought it best to give people like me some info. We've owned this fridge now for 3 weeks, bought just before the christmas break. We had both families over for christmas and boxing day which was why we needed a bigger fridge and it performed perfectly, heres some points you may be wondering;
The plumbed water is properly cold. It has no drip tray, but doesn't drip so its a moot point. The ice machine is also plumbed and makes alot of ice. it being internal and not on the door also means there's more fridge space which makes sense and is no hassle (the ice machine is on the opposite side to the water dispenser, so you can grab some ice while filling your glass to save time) The switchzone we didn't even think much of when purchasing the fridge, but was invaluable for the events with the ability to have more fridge space for the guests food. the black is a wonderful matt finish that doesn't smudge or mark, we had kids all over it already and they hardly left a mark and nothing that didn't come off in one wipe.
The only real downsides i can see:
the lever on the water dispenser is plastic, so if you're rough (again, kids) it will slowly mark up over time, but its sturdy enough not to break, just lose finish. while the internal trays are all movable, its not very configurable. My spouse is 5 foot tall so I like to drop the shelves for access and a lot of the spaces became a lot less functional when they were dropped. That being said, my spouse can reach everything fine with just one shelf adjustment.
Considering this was priced a good $1000 less than its nearest competitor it is a bit of a no brainer if these are the sorts of options you're looking for.
