Another F&P for us
After 45 years of marriage we are only onto about our third F&P fridge. The dimensions are perfect as it needed to fit into an existing cavity. It’s very quiet, even ice making during the night is not intrusive. The French door design make getting items in and out simple. The finger marks and ease of scratching the stainless doors is disappointing. Chilled water is approx 10°, whereas tap filter water is around 20°. Having ice constantly available is a bonus.

Terrible stainless steel finish
We bought this fridge around a year ago and while the fridge itself works fine the finish is horrendous. Every single finger mark is visible and it scratches incredibly easily. We have been very careful to limit anything touching it and be super careful when opening after a few early scratches so have no idea how it scratches so easily. Prior to this fridge I had (and still own) a Westinghouse double door fridge and the stainless steel on it showed no fingerprints. After 14 years and with small kids posting and sticky taping things to it it...still has no scratches. Unfortunately it doesn’t fit in the fridge hole else I would move that 14 year old fridge into the kitchen. It looks a million bucks compared to this one. Very disappointed.

It looks great & is so quiet!
This fridge purchase was replacing my previous 519L Fisher & Paykel that lasted well over 10 years so I was specifically looking at Fisher & Paykel models.
I had planned to buy a different Fisher & Paykel (following the recent CHOICE fridge review list) and a silver or white colour but there was none in stock. This model was in stock and was also on the Choice list. I had no plans to have a water/ice dispenser - it needs a water source and connected by a plumber but you don't have to use the water dispenser or ice dispenser, so no rush to hav...e it connected. It is a very attractive fridge and it is whisper quiet. Inside lights are well placed. Finger marks are more obvious on the black stainless steel than it is on silver finished stainless steel - salesman recommended using a screen cleaner (winner tip!). It does look lovely. I do like the layout - it feels wider and more shallow than my previous 519L F&P fridge - a good thing (less items are lost!). The freezer space is good but be aware if you use the ice dispenser, it will take up 1/2 of one of the two compartments in the top drawer. I love how the temperature controls are accessible on the inside/near the front. It has worked perfectly in terms of consistent cooling.

Don't make them like they used to...
Replaced an 18year old F&P fridge that has been amazing and is still running perfectly but we needed something bigger! Decided to stick with F&P and bought a new 519ltr French door F&P fridge. Finding new fridge not chilling very well even on coldest setting, and not keeping consistent cold temperature, fridge temperature fluctuates from cool to warm for no reason, food is spoiling, vegetables wilting, ice cream melting then freezing again and drinks not cold enough! Family have gotten sick from eating meat that was in freezer for a week and we...are probably eating other food that hasn't been chilled safely as well. Have had fridge 4 weeks and made multiple complaints since week1...now on my 3rd day this week of trying to call F&P to speak to relevant department to ask for a new replacement fridge but no one calls me back! I'm tired of this and am finding the service at this point is not good at all, left waiting and no one calling back even when I have been told 3rd day now I will be called back!! Have been on hold for over 50 minutes 3rd day in a row! I will be calling Consumer Affairs next if this Fridge issue doesn't get addressed immediately! At this stage I can only give 2 stars as this has become a very disappointing and awful situation and experience.

No Egg Tray!!!
Having been a Fisher & Paykel customer for all my adult life, I once again turned to them when I recently needed to replace our old Fisher & Paykel refrigerator. We took delivery of our new fridge just two days ago. The first thing that struck me is the overall decline in the quality of Fisher & Paykel products. From their former reputation as "high quality" the new fridge carries some of the characteristics and feel of "cheapness". One example was the "missing" egg trays. The manual for the fridge talks about the need to keep eggs in the ...fridge, so I thought it quite strange that the egg trays were missing. I called the "Customer Service" line (which in itself is a painful experience) and after several transfers of my call between India and Australia was eventually told that the fridge does not come with egg trays. Thinking that it was very strange that a new fridge would not come with egg trays, I then asked "why"? The response (again after being put on hold for a further 15 minutes), was, and I quote "a marketing decision" and that "there was no real reason". I was told that I could purchase them from "spare parts". So I asked if egg trays were available for this model and was told yes - they are available for purchase. So for the sake of what would be a $0.90 moulded plastic egg tray, they have taken the marketing decision to not include egg trays with a new refrigerator, and disenfranchised a lifelong Fisher & Paykel customer and advocate. Even if some customers have provided feedback that they did not require egg trays, why would Fisher & Paykel not include them since they are simply placed into the existing shelving? The decline of a quality brand can take many years, but once the brand reputation is damaged, its stays damaged. I won't be recommending Fisher & Paykel to family or friends any longer.

VERY BEAUTIFUL FRIDGE
This fridge replaced our previous Fischer & Paykel fridge, which lasted 20 years.
Now this is an unbelievable lifespan for a fridge, so I had to stick with the brand, and buy another Fischer & Paykel fridge.
This new fridge is of very high quality, and one of the most beautiful fridges on the market.
It’s also super quiet.
A very big thank you to the manufacturer for producing such an excellent product.

Good Looking Fridge, But Noise / Compressor Issues
Had at home in the box from Mar '19 for 3 months due to reno in progress. When finally installed 3 months later were impressed with the stainless steel look, ease of use and practicality of the and French doors, and how well it fit in to our new kitchen design.
Sadly this wore off after about 2-3 weeks when the constant noise got to me (I suspected compressor running 24/7 - and our reno involved opening up to open plan kitchen/dining/living) and I called F&P support. They sent out a technician who confirmed there was an issue, and it would hav...e to be taken away for repair. It was collected about a week later and a replacement was given to us on loan. It came back repaired around 3 weeks later. All good until June '20 when the noise returned intermittently, to the point now (July '20) where the compressor appears to be running 24/7 again, and a technician is coming out next week. Lucky there is a 2-year warranty. However if it's taken away for repair again it will definitely be last chance - any further issues I will be chasing a refund or complete replacement with a working unit. It would appear I am not the only one to experience this issue. Very disappointing. **Update March '21** This sorry saga continues. Feb '21 constant buzz returned - 3rd time now. A buzz when you go to bed and still going when you wake up in the morning is totally unacceptable. (There is a difference between the low hum of normal "active smart" operation and the buzz a unit makes when it's first switched on from warm and needs to work hard to come down to operating temperature. Anyone experiencing this latter sound going constantly should realise it is not normal.) I reported this latest issue on 24 Feb '21 and requested a replacement fridge based on it being repaired twice before and now the same issue again. I was told this couldn't be done until a technician had checked it first. He would be around on 19 Mar. Seriously? Extremely bad backlog there. Lucky I keep an old spare fridge in the garage. To be fair to the technician who came around he was polite and efficient, as they usually are, as are the support staff on the phone. But a major issue is the technician had no idea of the history of repair, nor his supervisor. It was only when I explained the history that it was agreed the fridge should be replaced.

Jury is out.
Fridge keeps food cold and frozen OK. Feature wise nothing to complain about. No breakdowns so far. It is compact for a French door, for me that was a plus. Like most modern fridges, some shelving components feel like they are going to break in your hands at any moment. The freezer door movement feels 'cheap' and doesn't move smoothly. It may prove me wrong in time, and is possibly better than average therefore won't mark it down on this account. What I really didn't like was the weakness of the frame which again could be a symptom of the times.... The manual even recommends adjusting the feet to square up the doors which is only possible due to frame weakness. In addition, it is quite noisy for a new fridge which is amplified by small vibrations which is at times enough to 'clink' bottles inside. Mine sits on a very square flat solid timber floor and sounded like a 'chaff cutter' before adjusting the feet. Just tolerable now but in time could become an issue.

Looks good and works well
Fridge looks amazing. Water dispenser is good
Nice clear lighting and adjustable shelves. Stores plenty of food
The freezer could have better access
Prob only Critisism is that needs filter changes are barely using
Keeps food fresh
We’ve had this for 8 months, and are still impressed with how long it keeps produce fresh, both in the crisper drawers and just in the fridge if we run out of space.
The door shelves and set up means there is a lot of room.
We were nervous about the freezer (we use a decent amount of freezer space), but the two level drawer set up means it’s fairly easy to organise, but maybe not perfect if you freeze lots of food and can’t keep track of it (the bottom level is a bit deep, so things can get buried under other things).
The water dispenser is great - love that it’s flush so saves space inside the fridge. The ice drawer in the freezer does take up some space, but we find it worth it.

Very happy with my new fridge
It cools and freezes just as it should. The water dispenser has a lock feature which is awesome when there's a toddler walking around. I've is always available and can be turned off in the colder months. Keeps vegetables fresh and crisp.
Well done Fisher & Paykel

Great fridge but the filters run out really quickly
We have had this fridge for about 18 months now
Initially we had issues where the water dispenser stopped working and was flowing really slowly (after a few months). F&P were helpful and had a couple of people come and look, eventually it was taken away and they gave us a loan fridge while it was fixed. It worked for a while, but we’ve found the water starts to run really slowly, and when we change the filter this seems to resolve. However the filters are supposed to last 6 months - ours only seem to last a few then the water dispenses at half ...

None stop noisy. My one is less than 2 yrs old. I thought that it is good company and brand but I was wrong. Sells man was right. But I didn’t listen to him.

Good fridge and well made
Fridge replaced an old conventional F&P. Whilst being the same size it does lose space because of the french doors- and those french doors never close by themselves. Apart from that we've had it a year now with zero issues. The fast freeze and bottle chill features get used all the time. Quality is good and nothing has broken - unlike a kelvinator beer fridge bought more recently

Overall good quality 5.5 years old still going
Love the design, look and features of this fridge.
The compartments and storage is generous.
Have had this since April 2014 and it has not failed once. The only issue is the left door flange does now close properly but it can be easily resolved by manually push it as you close the door. I see this is a common issue.
Otherwise, highly recommend this fridge.

Questions & Answers
Hi, we have just had a F&P french door fridge replaced under warranty due to condensation and water forming on the inside of the fridge. The tech who came on site diagnosed the source of the problem as a small gap between the gasket flaps at the bottom of the fridge section. This was letting air into the fridge which was condensing and forming water drops.
We notice that the new fridge also has a slight gap between the flaps of the bottom gasket.
Can anyone with this model shed light on this issue? Thanks.
Update: Fisher &Paykel tech came on site 2 weeks ago and did a 'fix on the flaps. That sorted the water droplets inside the fridge compartment, but now we're getting a build up of condensation along the top of the freezer drawer and since yesterday, condensation on the outside of the freezer drawer. It would seem that cold air is escaping from the fridge compartment, which implies that the door seals are faulty.
Any feedback from other people would be appreciated. Thanks
What setting are people keeping their fridge set to, we just got this fridge (1 week) and it seems not to be holding coolness within the safe temperature, it is cold if i have it on coldest setting but then it begins to freeze items and still not as cold as the old 18 year old F&P? Had F&P tech come and check it today and he said to set it to middle temp setting which he said is designed for all year around, now temps in fridge are at 5-7 deg, one small water bottle on top shelf records at 4.4 everything else is recording at 5-7 and above and water and drinks are not chilled to that crisp ice cold level that the old fridge managed to achieve. Any advice would be appreciated!
Get Fisher and Paykel to have it checked. My fridge was not cold enough and it was replaced after 4 weeks.
F&P are not doing anything about our fridge (8 weeks now) they claim there is nothing wrong with it even though we have fluctuating temperatures within fridge, from very cold then dropping to warm of its own accord, things freezing then defrosting, we have had condensation and water drops forming on back panel of fridge! Last technician sticky taped a small piece of foam behind inside back panel of fridge said sometimes these things are forgotten during manufacturing!? Our fridge is a lemon F&P technicians are not qualified to find the fault! We are in process of putting in a claim with consumer affairs, F&P have not resolved our issue nor do they seem to care nor have responded to our numerous requests to speak to senior management! We have thrown out so much food that has spoiled due to this issue! They told us to lodge a food loss claim 3 weeks ago, yes you guessed it no response to that either!
I puchased the fridge in 2016. Recently the LH door has become hard to open, requiring considerably more force than the RH door. The hinge is not stiff, rather it feels like there's a big elastic band pulling the door closed. If I let go of the door, it slams shut. Is there some sort of tensioning device in the hinge or internal to the door and , if so, is there an adjustment? TIA.
I can’t help you there Pete.....get on to Fischer & Paykel and get them to fox it .....
