Smart features are useless. Alexa integration does not work at all. AC units now routinely go offline and cannot be accessed through the terrible “AirCloud Go” application. There is no response to support requests. Don’t buy one of these units.

Just watching our 5yr and 5 weeks ( 5 weeks out of warranty ) old Hitachi air con being taken to the tip after having to replace the unit or spend $1700 to repair. Submitted a warranty claim via Temperzone Au for repair or replacement parts at a reduced price, only to be told " warranty rejected". Decided to replace the unit. Needless to say not with another Hitachi whose products we will never buy again. Show details

Ok, lots of pros & cons – Our unit stopped working 9ish weeks after warranty expired. (5year warranty) Hitachi honoured our warranty & sent a technician to our house & replaced the main circuit board. We do live V close to the ocean.(about 150metres) He stated salt air had destroyed the main circuit board, which wasn't entirely Hitachis fault. He also replaced our remote… Read more

as the original remote had V poor range, you had to walk right up to the unit for it to work.(yes, we used new batteries) heating & cooling both work very well. System operates with low noise. Durability & poor original remote let it down, but Hitachi honoured the warranty after it had expired around 2& a half months prior. I have noticed Hitachi has extended its warranty to 6 years as from 01/04/21 which is a very wise move to keep customers as I've noticed some people have left very negative reviews here saying their units failed just after warranty expired & they were refused free repairs. I would've done the same if Hitachi didn't honour the warranty, but they did, so they get a pretty good review from me.

Poor quality and pathetic customer service – Very poor quality unit. Sounds like a 20 yr old lawn mower and rather than replace the faulty unit they have dialed back the compressor to lower the noise level. Panels Rattle and they have wedged rubber between to stop it. Fan also doesn't spin true, has a kick in it. After 6 months of putting up with it from new this is how we were treated. Absolutely disgraceful. Steer clear. Will never purchase another hitachi product again. Show details

Bought this for warming the bedroom at night – Hitachi Premium Heat Pump Air Conditioner 3.5kW/3.8kW Reverse White SKU: 326283 MODEL: SKH-RAS-S35 Have just had this installed in April 2022. I expect that it will sit on 18 degrees heating on and off all night throughout winter and on silent So far it works fine! Haven't yet mastered the programming to switch on an 11pm and off at 7am during… Read more

the night rate.

And cant fined the light on the remote. The remote has the number rar-6ne1 on it and it must have a light as all remotes have lights. Can anyone help?

7Feb 23 No the remote doesn't seem to have a light - a big switch off for a bedroom air conditioner. Have been using it more for cooling lately and have found that it does have a bit more noise that first thought. BUT, normally, in the middle of the night the indoor unit has started making grinding noises that go on for a couple of minutes after switching it off. Have been hoping that it will do it again when I am close enough to record the sounds. Yes it does cool the bedroom though.

Back my review down to 3 stars. Would I buy another Hitachi - Probably not now.

Needed replacing one month after the warranty expired – The split system air conditioning unit was installed on 30 Nov 2015. It is regularly serviced and any issues attended to promptly, however in early Dec 2020 the unit started cutting in and out. A technician fixed the problem, but it was only temporary, and the same issue started happening a few weeks later. The technician advised to replace the… Read more

unit. Another technician quoted almost the same cost of a new system to fix the existing unit. Just 5 years and 2 months after installing the unit, I need to replace it. I submitted a warranty request with details, including that the problem occurred literally days after the 5 year warranty expired. The warranty request was declined. I will NOT be installing another Hitachi.

100% reliable and powerful 6.2kW cooling – 3 years without any issues, high speed fan is not quiet but I don't mind when it's delivering that much air. Low speed is very quiet, It removes up to 10L water a day in summer. Good looking unit, easy to use remote. A lot of people get confused when they set the temp to 18º but it's on heating mode. These units will not do anything until you set it to cool. And vice versa.  Show details ·  1

I try to fix these but can’t- stay away. DO NOT BUY – Many of the HITACHI RAS-##YHA# have been installed in rental properties based on price and the expectation that this well known brand should do the job well - It doesn’t. I have returned to many HITACHI RAS##YHA# split system units which have failed inside of the 5 year warranty period. However customers inform me that even an attempt to repair… Read more

these by the dedicated warranty technician results in the unit continuing to not operate correctly and causes constant frustration to the property owner, property manager and tenant. The main problems I have found as a air conditioning technician are: - Unit not operating correctly - Loss of gas through service valve - Unit PCB electronics dead - Incorrect fan speed sending poor information to PCB - Multiple PCB replacements - Operating on heat when cooling is called for and vice versa Bottom line: Something very basic in the design and/or manufacture of these HITACHI split system air conditioner units is not right and many of these units break down at one point or another in 1, 2, 3 or under 5 years. Warranty service does not appear (IN MY EXPERIENCE) to solve a breakdown of the PCB electronics issue. Stay away - do not purchase. Trouble on your wall.

I bought this AC yesterday and had it installed by a reputable installer. It work for 3 hours last evening – Ive had to take time off work just for Hitachi to even look at it. I really disappointed about the poor quality of the product and the shoddy customer service and warranty process  Show details

Terrible aftersales, numerous issues – Lets get one thing straight, i know my air cons. I was a wholesaler for 11 years. The Hitachi range is cost effective but now that all 3 units in my home play up from warranty relatable issues, i am extremely disappointed. Temperzone (the Hitachi Australia distributor) warranty agent has been out 3 times to fault and try to fix the issue but the… Read more

units continue to either not heat when required, or have a mind of their own when cooling. This is also back up by plenty of my customer reports of the same problem. Now that the warranty period has just expired Temperzone are just wiping their hands of it. This units fail at an alarming rate, so do your self a favour and stand clear of them.

The best units for our Oz climate – I was recommended to use these units at remote mine sites on Adco huts. The huts contained all our touch screen PLC based work stations and in places like Marble Bar, Kalgoorlie and here in Qld at Mt Isa the units have been running in terrible conditions and never get serviced or looked at and have absolutely never missed a beat. They do not run… Read more

24/7 but are on a timer system which when the hut is accessed, they run for 4 hrs until you reset them. This may happen up to 20 times a week. Process Operators and Truck Drivers are the ones that operate either the heating and cooling depending on the season.

Knowing that they are proven, I have put a couple on my home and they are fantastic, never missed a beat, however l do regularly service them! These units have been on my home for about 6 years and the mine site ones are still going after about 10-12 years!

Awesome Product – I have been using this for 6 years now and never got disappointed. Servicing this including cleaning the filter is very easy to do. It comes with both cooling and heating options. It doesn't make any noise at all while operating unlike other air conditioners I've used in the past  Show details

Only average.very noisy on high fan suggest dakin better – You get what you pay for. Fujitsu better unit. Wish now I had bought fujitsu. Also think daikin a better unit. Seems slow to respond to remote and very noisy on high fan. Not enough to claim warranty.just enough to be annoying . Fujitsu dealer Mannix not co operative as special instal. So went with hitachi dealer. Unfortunately unit not as good from previous experience with fujitsu.  Show details

Reliable - so we thought – We replaced a Kelvinator split system because it was unreliable and shonky. When the Hitachi was installed the tradie said we'd be far happier with it (based on his experience of servicing and installing air conditioners). Apparently Kelvinators are renowned for failing. Update: November 2017 - This unit has been failing us. Through winter it… Read more

would sometimes take 1 to 2 hours for the fan and heat to kick in. Then when it did work, it had a mind of its own. The remote control didn't decide temperature or fan strength. Now we've hit warmer weather and we have the same problem. Two different companies have come out to assess the problem, the second one being the warranty folks. We had some uncomfortably hot days with the air con only turning on for a minute or two at low speed, them switching off. Selecting a temperature and fan speed meant nothing. It just wouldn't perform. Yet today it's behaving. We're getting a third visit tomorrow from the warranty tradesman. I'm over it to be honest.

Not lizard proof – Unit installed and worked fine. Not used much at all, but then after a few days stopped working. After a long drawn out warranty service claim, where they tried to say the new unit was installed in 2011, the service agent arrived and found 3 fried geckos in the control unit. Said Hitachi wasn't cover this. So have paid out over $600, not much less… Read more

than a new unit because Hitachi can't build a unit that stops insects entering it. The units are built to be outside and yes outside there are insects! So wouldn't recommend a Hitachi after this experience, a complete let down of a company warranting a product in the environment it should be able to handle.

3 Weeks to get it to work – We purchased this split system air conditioner and had it installed by the company we purchased it from. Installation went OK until they turned it on to test it. first heating cycle.

After I made a formal request for a new unit and told the installer I would be contact Consumer Affairs if it wasn't replaced, Hitachi agree to replace the whole outdoor unit - which now seems to work.

The tech installing it said that they had been having lots of trouble with this new model and there was no way he would install one in his home. He also said that the Hitachi Tech Support did not know what the error codes the unit was displaying meant.

Around 12 hours of tech's time was spent trying to find the problem - instead of just replacing it right from the start.

Great unit – I purchased this 6kw inverter split system from Reece plumbing and it's so far a great success. It's quiet and in our Melbourne heat wave with temperatures over 40 with high humidity of late, it's been a lifesaver! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a system. I almost purchases a Kelvinstor until I read the reviews do glad I made the switch.… Read more

Vastly underated unit – 2.5kw Hitachi wall split installed in our office, super quiet, still pumps out hot air even when it was -7degrees outside. Installer made use of the 1800 number for tech support and said it was easy to get advice on the unit. Looking to get one in our home now as this has been such a reliable unit Price, after sales service, smart looks

Good – I have got two, both for indoor open areas, the cooling load is sufficient for around 40m^2, and when i close all doors, it could chill my room (25m^2) from 28 to 24 in half minute. The outdoor unit may not be insect-proof. The foul smell might caused by dead insects. Super Powerful. Very Quiet. Very Reliable. Remote control is a bit slow in reaction. Got foul smell once, but don't know why. the smell gone in half an hour.
