I bought my 2007 EX new . I think it was a big SUV. I did not get good gas mileage . I had 185,000 miles on it this year. So it lasted 18 years. I know I could have gotten another 100,000 miles . It was a great car . Just too big. Never any issues with power Tran . I took excellent care of it. Unfortunately it was totaled in an accident a few… Read more

months ago .The air bag did not deploy . It could have been repaired . I rear ended another car and insurance refused to repair it . I could not afford to replace it.

Not a reliable car – My 2010 Luxury CRV has been falling apart over the last couple of years. First the starter motor failed, the leather on the armrests are peeling, the doors do not lock with the remote, fuel consumption is terrible at 13.3 L/100KM and the drive shaft needs to be replaced. The CRV is regularly serviced by the same mechanic and he admits that some of my prob;ems are common with CRV's. Show details

Honda CRV - the best rating from first impressions to an absolute disaster over time – My initial sentiments in the early days of ownership are on a par with the majority of the rave-reviews on this platform. I bought my 2.4 Honda CRV Automatic brand new as a result of a test drive which really impressed me. Instant pull away with a fabulous VTEC motor, nice drive, spacious and comfortable. Over time those sentiments changed to… Read more

outright disappointment. While the VTEC engine provides excellent pull-away acceleration, for a 2.4 litre engine, overall performance is lethargic. Fully laden the Honda CRV could even pose a safety risk due to poor overtaking acceleration characteristics at higher speeds. As with other sentiments, fuel economy is pathetic at an average of around 12.5lt/100km. The other issues are with Bluetooth pairing with a smart phone and once paired, it works erratically. Cellular phones do not connect automatically when the vehicle is started and often fails to connect throughout the journey. The air conditioner is not very efficient and my other vehicle, a 2012 Hyundai i30 has a air conditioner and radio / Bluetooth system that is far superior in all aspects compared to the Honda CRV. The Honda CRV headlights are way below the industry norm for brightness. Forget about listening to the radio / conversation on a long trip as road noise is extremely high - and annoying. I am not a large person yet the driver's seat padding is starting to collapse. The worst of all, my vehicle is now a rust bucket. Honda Motor Company must have known this as most of the rust issues only present themselves just after the warranty expiry. Rust has eaten through from the outside of the vehicle into the spare wheel well. As the vehicle is white in colour, the orange rust water marks are very noticeable in two prominent areas due to water coming through when driving on wet roads. These two distinctive rust holes, no more than a few millimetres in size, are halfway up, at the rear of the spare wheel well. If one stores a tool kit, emergency torch, tow cable in the spare wheel well area as I do, they will soon be lost due to rust. If one looks underneath the vehicle, one cannot see the outside of the wheel well rust points as this area is covered by the bumper, so could not be seen during servicing inspection unless the rear bumper was removed. In addition, the entire spare wheel and fuel tank general area on the outside (underneath the vehicle) has dozens of rust specks. Also, many of the main door hinge bolts have rusted.

This vehicle has been meticulously maintained with regular Honda dealer service intervals and on the outside, looks brand new. The vehicle is also 100% free of any accident damage, has a full service history and with just over 52 250km on the clock to be riddled with rust as described, is an absolute disgrace. I have dozens of photographs to substantiate my claim. As far as rust protection and finish goes, one of the worst vehicles on the market.

Would have been a great buy if not for these design flaws – I have been a fan of hondas because of their reliability and awesome look. I had a 1999 crv before and was very practical and reliable so i got myself an upgrade with the 2008 honda crv sports model. I like how it looks and how roomy the cabin is. The ride is quiet as the engine noise is minimal. Tyre noise would depend on the quality of tyres… Read more

you got. I got maxxis ones on mine so its not the best but not the worse too. Power is adequate when overtaking. But not enough to give you confidence in doing something more daring. I get fuel economy of 10.5liters per 100kms combined after changing spark plugs, changing oil and filter, cleaning maf sensor, changing air filter and putting some magic oil additives. I was averaging 12.5 liters per 100kms before doing all these. Overall happy with everything else except for these 2 major flows so beware!

Power steering defect. My power steering fluid is leaking somewhere. Iv researched and its a common problem. Also my crv seems to be pulling a bit to the left. Have done wheel balance and alignment but it did not solve the problem.

Air compressor defect. Mine has been changed by the previous owner. But they are to last around 90,000kms then the compressor will go. The replacement compressor i got will also be the same. It will go bad in a few years.

So check the history of the car if you plan to buy one of this. Check the power steering system and aircon system.

Great SUV – This is our first Honda and love it! Purchased brand new. Have always heard about Hondas' great finish, engines, economy etc. Having now owned this 2007 Sport model for 9 months, we can see why Honda owners love their cars. Great to drive on highways, as well as in the city. Good fuel economy considering the size. Very smooth, beautiful… Read more

finish, seats comfortable (our 2 boys love the back seats as they can recline as well as travel forwards and backwards). Great storage capacity. You need to buy "proper" carpets to cover over the crappy ones fitted by Honda, as the standard felt material fitted wears through really quick (like in 1 week of use!). Very happy with this vehicle, would buy another Honda anyday. Good dealer service. Have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Update: Have now had this vehicle for 7 years, just done 77,000 k. Honda service has been excellent, no problems. Only replaced 1 battery after 4 years and still on second set of tyres (Falkens). Only negative: Doesn't like hill starts in the manual, have to use lots of revs and spin the clutch a bit on steep hills. Would buy the auto next time. Great engine, loves to rev. No quality issues over 7 years of ownership. Classy looks, great engine, strong brakes, heaps of room, excellent economy considering size (8.5 litres per 100 klms on highway with 6 speed manual), excellent fit and finish, good stereo, good air-con, great visibility. Standard Bridgestone tyres are noisy, although grip well. Engine needs more power for hills. No bluetooth. So-called standard carpets are rubbish, they are only a felt-like material, not proper carpet as befits a Honda.

Surprisingly fuel efficient! – After months of research and after test driving 3 SUV x-overs (the other two were Subaru Forester and Jeep Patriot) I immediately picked out my 2008 Honda CRV, it has a great build quality and it seems Honda put more in there cars for standard than some other brands. I previously owner a Mitsubishi Lancer of the same year, and wasnt pleased with… Read more

the plastics used throughout the interior, or the comfort/support of the seats (the main reason for the upgrade was need of space and want of a SUV sized car) The CRV is a nice change, It drives like a dream and feels very solid in every way. It has thick solid plastics on the interior and the seats are more comfy than my lounge! Ive only had it for 4 weeks, but was surprised after reading a lot of peoples reviews on this site. A lot of people complained fuel is atrocious, and I was expecting to dish out 50% more on my fuel then the lancer considering the lancer was 7.9L/100km and CRV was recording(according to some) around if not over 12L/100km. That is not the case with mine at all! My old lancer cost $70 to fill up and lasted just shy of a fortnight till near the empty light. The CRV is pulling similar stats with around $70 to fill up and lasting 10-12 days with the same driving routes/distances. Not bad considering one is a med range sedan with 2L engine and the other is much bigger with 2.4L engine. I was blown away. I probably spend $5-10 more per week on fuel, max! I do drive casually, but also have the air con on most of the time so I cant say Im trying to be fuel efficient. People are also complaining of parts failing, I cant say Im to worried over anything atm, aside from the aircon. That is the only thing which has let me down. It is slow to start and isnt extremely cold. Aircon in the lancer was ice cold straight away, no problem, with the CRV it takes a while and I will worry if it will fail in the future. I have read before that if you replace Honda fluids MORE regularly than usual your Honda will last a life time, if you dont you will have problems, so I plan to flush coolant and transmission oil asap to really look after it and will post back if I have problems in the future. So far though I am very happy with my CRV and would definitely recommend purchasing one.

Paint bubbled and peeled at year 6 - Honda took no responsibility – I was a loyal Honda customer, owning 2 Honda's. Unfortunately the paint started bubbling on my steel grey Honda CRV at year 6 (approx $40K car) with independent quotes of $4,000 to fix it. Upon calling Honda, they told me that the paint was only guaranteed for 3 years and they would not do anything to fix it, even though they had changed paint… Read more

Great reliable car always! – We loved this car so much and was really sad when I sold it. We owned it for almost 8yrs and had no problem at all with the car. It’s powerful and so reliable, I enjoyed driving this car around Sydney and interstate. Ac was always cold and never had problem. Service didn’t cost us a lot too. The seats were comfortable, Front and back. And the bonus hand rest can’t be beaten. I wish all cars have handrest for the driver seat.  Show details

Comfortable, reliable, versatile SUV – We bought our 2007 (MY 2008) CRV with 90K km on the clock, trading our early release 97 CRV that we'd owned from new. We've found the 07/08 CRV great to drive, cost effective to run and the interior is really comfortable for passengers and flexible for cargo. maintenance (religiously every 10K kms) and replacement of the airbag after the recall has been the only time it has been off road in 6 years. Now approaching 200K km, it is still going strong and while the interior has stood up to wear and tear well, the paintwork is looking a bit thin. We would like to upgrade to some new tech and a true off roader/twin cab ute this time round - but Honda doesn't make one!

Extensive CR-V Air Conditioning Failures – Air conditioning system failed in our 2008 low km VGC CR-V and research reveals it is not an uncommon problem. company, due to the extensive nature of the CR-V air conditioning failures. So far, no assistance forthcoming.

As a result, we'll be pursuing an Australian Consumer Law Consumer Guarantee claim for 'faulty goods that are not fit for purpose' and making a small claim through the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

If you've had an air conditioning failure in a CR-V, check consumer protection laws in your state and act accordingly.

August 8th 2016 Update: Air Conditioning Problems

Not surprised to see numerous complaints about poor air conditioning performance. Aircon compressor failures are notorious in 2002 - 2011 CR-V's. A 2012 class-action lawsuit in America (Alin vs Honda), regarding broken air conditioners; involved 1 million CR-V, Acura and Odyssey models. Going by the posts below, it would appear that the problems continue in newer models. As a previous poster remarked - Buyer Beware. A replacement air conditioner will cost you $1500+.

10k? Paint is very thick and has only scored 1 door nick in a park. No dent. Touched up with some Honda Bike paint and hard to find now. ( Previous Accord Euro had metallic paint which I would not recommend as the paint was very thin). Fuel averages around 9.3l/100km combined. This is our 4th Honda interspersed by BMW 323i, Alfa (2), SAAB 9-3, Peugeot 405,306, and the Honda's have all been the cheapest and most reliable to own. My intention was to trade the CRV at 2 years old but we still have it. Might be a long term affair and purchase an older model weekend toy euro. Update 5/8/16. We still have the CRV! Took the Michelin tyres off at 62,000km and they were still legal. Fitted Sumitomo guaranteed for 60.000 if rotated every 7,000 by agent. CRV still averages 9.3km/100 with regular trips onto the highway. Showing 73,654km and running like a clock. I did purchase a weekend car 12 months ago. 2009 Volvo C30 T5 R Design. Great car but the servicing costs are up there. Just had a service this week. Oil (full synthetic) and filter, 5 plugs (@ $38 ea), air filter, rear brake shoes and flush brake system. Total $1,042. That was on top of two new tyres for $500. Wife was very impressed..not! Makes the service costs on the Honda look very reasonable.

It's a shame as otherwise I am very happy with my 2nd Honda CRV and the dealership has been providing excellent service. This is how Honda loses loyal customers by not recognising and accepting total responsibility for production issues like other manufacturers do but only showing 'goodwill' to those customers who dare to make a case. with the length of cars! The full economy seems to be pretty good - when I am traveling on country roads I get less than 9L per 100kms but when I am just running around the suburbs taking the kids to and from sports/school etc it tends to be around 10.5L per 100km. The last two tank full I have only had an economy of about 11-11.5 per 100kms but that may be because it has been really hot and the air-cond. has been flat out constantly for the past couple of weeks. The ivory interior doesn't get too hot but it does show the marks. I have put some polar-fleece rugs on the seats to prevent too much dirt.... I haven't really taken it off road yet so I'm not sure how it goes there. The closest we have come is on dirt roads (fairly good condition ones) and the four-wheel drive cut in when needed. I would certainly recommend this car for families or just for around town. Really comfortable ride, great looks and plenty of room in the back Nothing yet!
