made it feel like you were on top of the water and not in the experience – there wasn’t the ‘connect’ if that makes sense. Enter research phase, and mine was extensive, starting on the internet and ultimately visiting a number of stores in Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. I prefer to view and have the touchy, feely experience with the item I’m looking to purchase. This also provides the ideal opportunity to closely view the quality of the product. The HONU brand was shortlisted but wasn’t quite prepared to hit the ‘buy’ button without physically viewing, which would have meant a trip to Sydney. So, I rang them. Spoke to Mark (who is actually the owner) and we talked about what I was wanting to do, my abilities, different models, their purposes, pros and cons for each, the whole ‘connect’, all without any heavy selling (thanks again Mark – best 20 minutes on the phone I’ve ever spent). I guess that’s my long winded way of saying I’m a finicky buyer !!! Anyway, after the time on the phone, decision made – HONU Byron! Customer service Holidays were planned and was looking forward to a break with the new board. Unfortunately, there were some minor delays with the batch of new boards (outside of HONU control) so as a temporary solution, HONU freighted a Byron demo board to northern NSW for me to use wile holidaying – simply unbelievable - service at a whole new level. With the delay, HONU kept us informed every step of the way, and made special offers to compensate for this……one offer involved helping to source another board from a competitor if that’s what was wanted. To me this further cemented the right decision was made to go for HONU. The product First go on the water confirmed the right choice had been made – perfect. As an allrounder board the Byron ticks all the boxes. The length and width compliment the thinner board, providing that ‘connect’ with water…… So far have only been on dams and rivers / creeks and its brilliant – short or long paddles. Recently partook in the Mullumbimby to Brunswick Heads paddle. It’s 10km and I’m by no means an athlete (in fact the only preparation was a 6-pack with friends the night before) but the board glided effortlessly. Still learning so haven’t had it in the surf……..yet . The convenience of it folding up into a backpack makes it ideal to take anywhere with little hassle. There are cheaper and dearer inflatable SUPs on the market, but you get what you pay for….to be brutally honest I believe the HONU product is undervalued – I would happily pay more based on their customer service, returns policy, warranties offered and the quality of the product. The Company This was also an important factor in the decision-making process. HONU have a strong moral and ethical sense toward the environment and the customer. Big tick…big BIG tick. Fabulous service and product – Purchased the Sorrento pre Xmas - received within a week and expectations exceeded. Great product. Silly enough to leave inflated in extreme heat and board replaced rapidly despite contravening the warranty conditions. Couldn't fault the service.

proved a really enjoyable ride. I've only ridden my friend's solid sup previously - also a good quality board. I appreciate how practical the Byron all-rounder is to transport and store and having fallen off it a number of times while I was finding my balance, I appreciate this feels safer to fall off and onto not being solid :) The real test will be how it travels over time but so far I'm really loving this i-sup and don't regret spending on an Australian product with strong eco-credentials. The pump was a little faulty, but the follow-up support has been fast and professional - a new one on the way.

Excellent Service – I purchased one of their longboards and it was delivered safely and exactly on the due date. Very beautiful looking board. Unfortunately the board had a small factory defect. Great service – I live on the Mid North Coast and received my board within 2 days of ordering. The board had been damaged in transit. Mark sent a replacement board immediately which I again received within 2 days. No extra cost to me. Very happy with the board and service. Cheers George Show reply

Great family fun – Loving our stand up paddle boards my wife and I bought each other for Xmas. Have used them in the harsh South Sustralian southern coast line and haven’t missed a beat!! Only problem we have now is the kids keep pinching them when our backs are turned and paddle off!!

Really Happy With Honu Experience – This is the second SUP I’ve bought from Honu, th first was a few years ago. My wife decided the first board was hers now so we got another. The board was delivered before Xmas ( I couldn’t believe how fast ) and like the last board, turned up well packed and in faultless condition. It’s a beautiful thing. And I have no doubt it will last ,, the first board is now 3 years old and still perfect. I would buy another from these guys

Cant wait to use it – Purchased 2 boards. Rang and asked questions about the boards prior, received great service. Boards arrived fast, within 10 days. 1 paddle had to be replaced, no issues. New one arrived within 3 days. Very happy. Thanks Honu.

Very Happy with SUP – A friend recommended HONU. We were new to SUP & spoke directly to the director. Bought SUP's for wife and self. The SUP's are light and easy to handle and we love using our boards. We bought them three years ago and now are back for other things from HONU.

Mine was OK. I bought another – I moved into a place near the harbour. Bought one and then another.. Quality seems OK. Been going fine. I keep them in a garage and not in the sun. No problem with these and they look pretty good. Good around package.

Amazing board & great company to deal with – I ordered the stand up paddle board online arrived with in a couple of weeks. Board was fully protected with bubble wrap and in Box, the delivery person helped carry it for me as it was much bigger than I expected. super happy

I got mine & it was undamaged – I took it to Brooms Head for a month & I caught a lot waves I used it every day & I'm in Noosa & I use it every secondday

Arrived Damaged – My sup arrived damaged on both the nose and tail, called Honu and they won't replace the board. I know have a board that needs a $280 repair according to a local surf shop. Most expensive exercise and now it is going to cost me more than one purchased locally. Do not purchase here as the after sales service stinks

My Board Never Arrived – I ordered a board online and it never arrived. It has now been 2 months and they refuse to return my calls or reply to my emails. Honu sups are a scam and only interested in taking your money.

Do not buy from here – WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I got a stand up paddle board and it has faded, warped and bubbled and is the worst experience I have ever had with a company. The guy on the phone is rude, unhelpful and doesn't want to hear about any negative feedback on his products and will not fix the issue. I will be calling fair trade on Monday and making a complaint. Terrible Quality – I purchased a stand up paddleboard online from this company as the prices were great. Unfortunately you get what you pay for when it comes to this company as the quality is terrible. of the board, the nose and the tail. They advertise a year warranty but it doesn't exist, there website doesn't even have a street address, they say they are Bondi based but who knows where they are being made or coming from. The guy on the phone sounds foreign, is unhelpful and is not interested in helping you at all. I expected it to not last as long as the big brands but one month in and how it looks now is just terrible. Don't buy online, look instore and check the quality so you don't get stung.
