Disappointed. Lack of service – I usually go through Hoyts Kiosk weekly as its mine and my son's weekly entertainment that disnt break the bank. Ive had no issues until now. My DVD was late due to being admitted into hospital and the DVD was in my car which was at home and I had no access to return it like I had planned. I took the time to email Hoyts Kiosk customer service, ive… Read more

had no reply whatsoever. And I'm regrettably not wanting to use this service ever again. I'll stick with the video ezy kiosk as i KNOW they return emails and have a higher service level.

Unbelieveably Terrible Service – Got vouchers from Optus perks for 6 rentals. First rental the movie played well but I had to return it by 9am next day or pay another days rental. Couldn't return movie as machine was full so I rang the customer service phone number advised by the machine. Call back in office hours was the message. Hoyts website advised customer service office… Read more

hours are 11am to 9pm. Several calls after 11am were hung up on by a recorded message - this was not working, I emailed them - no reply! I attempted to tell Optus how tacky Hoyts kiosk is via their website and noticed a different phone number for the kiosk on their website, I rang that number and it was answered - hallelujah! The girl who answered was quite helpful and extended the rental and I took the DVD back to another kiosk which accepted it - I'm on a roll. Haven't received any emails about the rental and will keep an eye on the credit card statement - If I get charged anything LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent concept.....but – Several of my friends who live locally, and myself, have been using the kiosk at Waverton since it first started operating. We all agree that the only flaw to the concept is that Hoyts permit DVDs to be returned to "Any" kiosk. This may sound good in theory, but in practice it does not work as one kiosk will be very short of DVD's and the others… Read more

so overloaded that people are not able to return DVD's to them.

This results in people who want to hire new movies being unable to do so. The customers are not happy and Hoyts lose money.

The people who hire from one kiosk and return to another, are very much in the minority.

Many of us are still waiting for different DVD's, that were only put in the machine last week, to be returned to Waverton.

If you are unable to return a DVD owing to the machine being full, it incurs an extra days charge.

You can obtain a credit if you notify Hoyts Kiosk customer service but it is extremely inconvenient and most annoying to have to do so and it should not be necessary.

Apparently; the reps who bring new DVDs in every week do not carry extra copies of the newer movies and this is nonsensical.

We hire and return our DVD's as we come out of the train station, next door to the store, so it is not convenient for us to go to another kiosk.

If people can hire at one store they should return to the same store.

We are not experiencing any other problems, but we all feel that this issue should be addressed. Good variety. New DVDs are added every week Our local kiosk is out of stock of popular DVDs for long periods

Thank GOD we have Oovie since all the Blockbusters went BUST! – What a fantastic idea! A vending machine that spits out movies at a soda's price! Before Oovie, we used to hire our movies from our local Blockbusters….which one day disappeared….Oh well, they never had the movies we wanted and was way overpriced. There is now an Oovie in our local Woolies and shopping malls. It doesn't get more convenient… Read more

than that! It's affordable too! You can hire a movie for $2.99 a night! Even if it's a new release! It doesn't discriminate between new and old releases. You don't even have to return your DVD to the same machine you hired it from. If you got your DVD while shopping at Woolies, you can return it at another machine in the mall if you are not going back to your grocery store! However, they do give you incentives for returning your DVD to the original machine (free hire). They also have a free 1st Wed of the month program. AWESOME!

I only wish they had MORE machines. Sometimes (weekends, holidays, long weekends) it can get quite congested and a lot of the movies will be unavailable. Another suggestion is that it should have a RETURN and a RECEIVE DVD slot. This one time when my husband and I were still hiring (about to pay) our DVD, a woman rudely cuts in front of us to return her DVD because she couldn't wait an extra 2 minutes (you know who you are…lady in lycra spandex returning Bridesmaids!). This halted our hiring process until the machine finished reading her return!

Another suggestion is for Oovie to start stocking older movies and not just new releases. However, that can make the queue even LONGER :/ Someone may spend ages looking through a larger selection!

Also, make sure you DO return your movie the next day, or you'll be charged for the additional night/s at $2.99/night extra! Convenient, cheap, easy to use, has latest movies, local, can return to any machine (but gives incentives to return to original machine) Need more machines, need a separate return and hire slot to prevent congestion, need more stock per machine,

Charged $64 for two movies that didn't work – Rented two movies from the Hoyts Kiosk for $4 a night, took them home and they were scratched to oblivion. Kept them for a few nights to try consistently to get them to work but they restarted, skipped etc. Called customer service and they said they'll refund me every last cent (including overdue fees) then about 2 weeks later $64 came out… Read more

unexpectedly so I called up again and there's nothing they could do. End of the day, got charged the price of which I could've bought 10 of these movies NEW and couldn't even watch them. Thanks Hoyts for being a complete mess around and a major rip off.

good to have around – Having been to a Hoyts movie theatre lately I was very pleasantly surprised that a lot of movie theatres now have reclining chairs which are so comfortable to be able to sit and watch a movie even a mum was breastfeeding her baby in comfort and still able to enjoy her popcorn and drink as we did as well. A great innovation and change for the better. Well done HOYTS.

Went to three different kiosks - two no longer there, one not operational – I had vouchers to use from a charity and went to use them. I looked up their website to locate their kiosks and when I went to those locations - three different ones - they were either not there (replaced with Video Ezy) or not operational!

Kiosk failures – I tried Hoyts kiosks for the first time ;ast weekend and had problems: paying for them - would not read my car, and then returning them and then went to a third Kiosk ( as per their website) and the kiosk wasn't there anymore. In addition although they say they have Blue Rays, they have a token one or two. So all in all a waste of time. The kiosks I used were both faulty and shut down ... very frustrating - wouldn't bother using again.

Reasonable operation, limited range – We were provided a number of Hoyts Kiosk vouchers through a charity donation. We've found the operation of the machines to be fairly straightforward. Out of 11 DVD hires we've made, there have been two issues: - Machine didn't deliver the DVD (had to call the hotline, where they quickly refunded it) - Machine wouldn't accept the return (tried a… Read more

different machine in another suburb)

The range of DVDs could be much better. We've been through many of the DVD titles we were interested in. There's a lot of B-grade content in the box. Sometimes it can be scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel.

Reservation confirmed but no reservation recognised when you go to collect – We have reserved DVDs a few times at Top Ryde and always receive a confirmation email. However; when we go to collect and swipe card a box comes up which says "No movies reserved at this kiosk" We have notified them of this several times an no reply and worse the problem is not fixed. They have serious software issues that they do not seem to want to address. Poor customer service is the main reasons businesses close down.

What is the rental period? – Rented three movies (first time) at about 4 pm and was glad to see the sticker say '1night's rental' however when i got home and read the small print it said 'movie to be back by 9pm'! That is on the same night! If this is correct Hoyts are misleading its clients as one night should be 9am i kept checking that it wasn't 9am but all three had 9pm!!.

Do Not Use – Last time I tried to rent a movie the machine froze after I had swiped my credit card and with my phone number visible. Tried to ring the customer service line (I was in business hours) and I could not through due to technical difficulties. Stood at the machine wiping e screen down for 20 mins until it worked again. I have tried many times to ring Hoyts and can not connect. Do not use.

Worst service ever!!! – (We were regular Hoyts users) Two months ago my partner and I both rented dvds from a Hoyts Kiosk, and returned them on time!!! And today Sun 22 May, I've woken up to some, not justified, not specified, miscellaneous charge of $129.89. No way am I ever using this service again. I will be telling every one I know not to use your machines. Total crap. Not happy.

Extremely annoyed! – I rented a dvd for 99c. Great value right! Make sure you return it on time. I could have bought the dvd for $4. Got caught up with work and returned it 4 days late expecting to pay an extra $4 late fee. INSTEAD GOT STUNG FOR $13.99. Just be careful as Hoyts Kiosk don't seem to care less about looking after their customers. Very short sighted. I won't use them again.

Machine not working – I tried to get 4 movies but the machine didn't dispense any as it was faulty I guess so I rang the number displayed on the machine to report it with no luck!! The funny part is that I've checked my bank account and kiosk charges me anyway. If a machine is faulty why there was not a notice on the display like "out of service" ?

Not very nice customer service – A few months ago I rented a movie and became very ill. I am a single mum and could not drive to return it. I wrote to them and even offered to get a letter from my specialist as it was a couple weeks by time I felt better. The lady I spoke to said that I would have to pay the fine and it proceeded to come out of my account.

Worst, hopeless, third class service – Hoyts Kiosk can't take extra due to your software/hardware kiosk issue. 1. I took CD rental from Spring vale Glen shopping center on Friday about 9:30 PM which is not working since yesterday till now for return. 2. Near by Hoyts Kiosk is at Brandon park which is inside Shopping center which closed at 5:00 PM how person can return at 9:00 PM… Read more

if Mall itself closes at 5:00 PM.

3. Don't have any option on web to show which Kiosk is open, available and working so that we can reach any other Kiosk.

4. None of your support team available on call when given call to call center on 1300656893 even before 9:00 PM

5. Sent email on HOYTS Kiosk <hoytskiosk@hoyts.com.au>, HOYTS Kiosk <kioskinfo@hoyts.com.au> but no response at all.

This is worst server I ever seen. Shame on your service HOYTS!!!

Avoid these kiosks it's a loan shark in movie clothing! – I rented two DVDs Hoyts kiosk, forgot about them, went to return it after reading an email notifying me, the machine would not accept them. It had been ten days. I was charged $129 for the two movies! I did not read anywhere that this is a possibility and can not believe this is even possible or legal. These have a value of about $10 each so it's so ridiculous. These kiosks are loan sharks and should be banned, do not use them!

No (or very small number of) Bluray movies – Unlike VideoEzy kiosk, these hoyts kiosks have no (or only a few) bluray movies. But rental prices are generally higher than VideoEzy kiosks. Scratches on the discs are problem and they should be fixed even if it means higher rental price. Almost all of the discs that I have borrowed had scratch problems and stopped playing while watching the movies.

Terrible – First of all when you can't call and contact someone that's ridiculous. To be charged $65 for an overdue DVD that's scratched worth $10 is a joke. The DVD was returned so I was charged $65 for nothing absolute joke.

I was charged 350% of the original rental price per night for returning late – Is Hoyts kiosk in the movie rental business or extortion? 350% of the original rental price per night when you return your movie late?! Really?! Pawnshops and mobsters probably have fairer terms. I have rented "Focus" and "There's Always Woodstock" for $1 each. Took it back 3 days later expecting to pay an extra dollar per night per movie. But… Read more

instead my credit card was charged $14.

I don't understand why I was not charged the original price per night ($1) for the extra nights.

I don't understand how companies survive making enemies out of their customers through dodgy terms and conditions.

I know the money is little but the principal (and the 350%surcharge) is outrageous.

But no hard feelings. I will just get my movies from some place else.
