Waste of time, money and energy - don't bother – Purchased comprehensive travel insurance for a holiday booked in March 2020. Flights cancelled due to Covid and the booking agent went into administration after the holiday was supposed to have taken place - Auto & General focused, and relied, on the booking agent going into administration, and not that the holiday had already been cancelled prior to the administration, as the reason for not paying the claim. Show details

Deceitful - Avoid at all costs – Thought we were getting travel insurance through ING, who diverted us to Budget Direct, who diverted us to the bottom of the barrel, Auto & General. They kept changing how they wanted our claim info sent to them, then dragged out the decision for 13 months with nil result, using a subjective loophole so they could close it out. Not worth the stress of dealing with them, they made a traumatic situation much, much worse.  Show details

Appalling Customer Service – Our claim was rejected even though they claimed to over coverage for Pandemic. Before leaving their agents assured us we were covered. I also had this in writing on email. It took a complaint to AFCA for them to finally agree to pay. The amount they paid could not be calculated from my figures, but a win is a win. Show details

Woeful – We bought our travel insurance through ING before Covid hit, in Mid-January 2020. We were forced to cut our trip short due to the DFAT recommendation that all international travellers return home ASAP. We put a claim in to recoup our lost money and were sent an newer, updated PDS from that which we were initially given (dated January 31st) with a… Read more

new clause excluding claims relating to pandemic. This was NOT included in the PDS we were given when we bought the policy. We mentioned this and were told to leave it with them.

Months later we have finally received something back regarding our claim... A remittance advice for $42.18. Far from ~the $1,500 we are out of pocket. There was no other information or explanation as to how they reached this sum, or an apology for the massive length of time taken to process our claim.

To say I am disappointed with the service of ING and the actual insurer "Auto & General" would be a massive understatement.

Small print covers them for things they say are in scope – Airline went in to administration. Not covered apparently. What's the point of travel insurance that doesn't cover you for this kind of event! Waste of money. Moving ING home/contents insurance now. Show details

Waste of money. Go elsewhere – Policy was not worth a cent. Tried to submit a claim for a cancelled flight which in turn cost us a day on our trip and added expenses for accommodation. After continued calls and unresponsive emails The claim was rejected. Waste of time and money. Never again. Show details
