I am pretty certain this dog food changed manufacturer and seriously harmed my dog. We were feeding him this food for a while with no complaints and then, with no change to his lifestyle, he put on around 4kg, his fur was coarse and he had diarrhoea. I don't often write negative reviews but I feel inclined to after having researched and worked out… Read more
it was this brand. Since changing his diet and after a few months he is back to being healthy weight with shiny/soft fur again.
Happy Dog Happy Owner – My dog devours this every night. Licking her lips in a very satisfied way. I love seeing her enjoy good quality food like Ivory Coat makes. Thank you. Show details · 1

words (Image attached): For the first time in over 12 months, Ellie’s faeces are normal. No blood. No runny mess. No pain. Since stopping Ivory Coat just days ago, the "mystery" illness that haunted us for over a year has vanished. I feel like a "bad mum" for trusting this brand for 10 years, but the truth is, the food was the primary cause of her harm.
THE COST OF TRUST: Since January 2025, I have endured: • An exhorberant anount in vet bills for specialists and endless testing. • A year of chronic vomiting, bloody stools, and incontinence. • Antibiotics for her swollen Anus that was excreting pus • Up to 4 baths a day to keep her clean and comfortable whereby I needed to make 100% cotton diapers.
THE COMPANY’S RESPONSE: Ivory Coat replied with a generic template. They offered a "veterinary nurse" chat, but a DM cannot fix a year of trauma or the fact that their "recipe adjustments" are making pets deathly ill.
WARNING: Ivory Coat is NOT the high-quality brand it was a decade ago. Since The Real Pet Food Co. took over and moved production to Dubbo, the quality has declined significantly. Don't wait a year as I did—if your pet is sick, change the food. It saved my girl’s life.
WARNING: Life - Threatening Health Issues – Undisclosed Ingredient Changes Please be warned: Ivory Coat is no longer the high-quality product it was 10 years ago. Following the brand’s acquisition by The Real Pet Food Co and their 2022 move to a new manufacturing facility in Dubbo, the recipes were significantly altered.
While the company admits to "recipe adjustments," many pet parents believe that unhealthy, toxic ingredients are being used that are not properly disclosed on the packaging. I do not understand how retailers in Australia continue to stock these products without notifying customers of the documented risks.
The health implications for your beloved pooch or cat can be life-threatening. You can view the extensive history of these issues via the Australian Pet Owners Group (APOG) issue log: https://www.apog.com.au/recall-issue-log/ivory-coat/.
My personal experience has been devastating. Since the change of ownership, Ellie, my toy poodle has been suffering from: Severe fevers, Inconsistent vomiting, Chronic diarrhoea and blood in stools alongside five months of Incontinence, rashes, allergies and more. My pooch has been in so much discomfort, in and out of hospitals, requiring numerous specialists, endless tests, and up to four baths per day and all since the beginning of January 2025. Until this post I could not pinpoint what was occurring nor could our team of Drs, who've all undergone their utmost to have Ellie as comfortable as we could in her time of need, the bills reign in.
It is heartbreaking that a company is allowed to operate in such a way here in Australia all the while pets suffer. If Australia had a governing body, to regulate pet food we Aussies would not need to see our pets suffer.
Please note: Without a governing body here in Australia to regulate our beloved pets food, who can we trust, who has our pets best interests at heart and why isn't the government implementing change when it's companies such as this one whom will standadise responses given they are not the ones forking out the dollars to save my best friend and nor do I feel they care, if they did they'd start implementing change like many other start up dog food companies are, now they care so please do your own research for peace of mind and clarity. My experience is unfortunately backed by hundreds of similar reports on consumer sites—do not risk your pet’s life on this once-trusted brand.

Product recommendation – Highly recommended Made our rescue pup so shiny and silky smooth fur Show details · 1
Nothing like treating my puppy – My dog Scottie really loved this product, Scottie is a maltese shitzue & has a overbite. The size of this kibble is just right. It had a pleasant aroma, and Scottie loved it, Id say its his favourite as he loves fish. I found I could cut his hard food down to half with this product as it filled him up more. Which might be because its grain free.… Read more
We also liked that its made in Australia & poultry free. I was sent this product to trial but will now be buying it for Scottie.
My doggos loved it – My dogs really enjoyed this product. They typically do not eat their dry food until later in the day but I found that they ate this straight away. It mixed well with wet foods and liquids, the biscuits were a good size and did not crumble or mush up as much as other dry foods when liquids were added. I would 100% reccomend this product I received this product from Ivory Coat to review Show details
Yummo – Love salmon & ocean fish. Salmon is such a great source of protein and fat. Lots of omega for healthy skin and coats. Even with my usual brand I choose salmon. I find to much chicken protein can cause allergies and this kibble has none. Filled the up and they scoffed it to no end. My tick of approval and I am reasonably fussy. Highly recommended and is a good aussie brand. I received this product from Ivory Coat to review Show details
Mouth-watering seafood kibbles – My German Shepard is a picky eater and his usual diet is grain free with seafood as the primary protein. This literally made him mouth-watering as he can only eat when I give him the command so I can see he was so excited to try it out. I would definitely recommend this to all breeds and sizes of any dogs. The kibble sizes are standard size for… Read more
all dogs and not too small as there is no occurrences where my German Shepard chocked. It is a well balance kibble to support lean muscle maintenance and heathy digestion (no negative reactions/diarrhea). I do wish that the formula has Glucosamine as I am cautious about the potential joint issue for German Shepard breed. I received this product from Ivory Coat to review

Avoid – I’ve been feeding my border collie the turkey or salmon grain free kibble for some years now. We had a bout of stomach issues which were quickly overshadowed as at the beginning of last year, her health declined rapidly. Hair loss, rapid changes in appetite, insatiable thirst, weight gain, lethargy and shaking. Coupled with continuous changes in… Read more
stools, blood in stools, urinary issues and just all round, a very sick dog.
I wish I’d read the later reviews before spending in excess of $12,000 for her veterinary care. She sees two veterinary specialists, as well as her primary vet, usually twice a month. I have spent countless hours building up and taking time off work to have her at day-long or 4hour + appointments to treat her symptoms. She is now medicated twice a day, takes 3 supplements as well as her medication and we take a trolley on her walk for when she becomes too tired to make it the short distance home. I have had multiple conversations where my dogs continued quality of life has been a significant consideration to continuing her treatment. The vet has been able to ease the symptoms but is still unable to satisfactorily identify the cause.
I will update this review if the vet is able to find a cause other than the food for my BC’s issues but I am so saddened that I didn’t see these reviews earlier and take action. Please don’t let your scenario be like mine. Avoid ivory coat.

Great product! – When we introduced our dog to this product for the first time he absolutely LOVED it from the moment he first smelled it before gobbling it up! With other kibble we often have to put something on top such as milk for him to eat it - but not this! The kibble pieces are a perfect size. He loves the crunch with kibble normally and this seemed extra… Read more
crunchy. He has no hesitation in eating this and finishes it all up in one session, whereas with other brands he often eats half the bowl and comes back to it later.
The ingredients seem to be of a very high quality (it even smells like 'real' food!), and we've noticed he seems happier, more energetic, has no digestive issues with this food and even his coat seems shinier!
Would I buy it again? It's a bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for with this product, so yes I would buy this again, but I would not feed him on this all the time. It would be a once in a while / treat meal. Highly recommended!

Our American Staffy loved this! – We were lucky enough to be offered a trial if this product and our dog absolutely loved it! We had been looking to try a range of different dog food products as our vet had advised us that the best thing to feed dogs is dog food as opposed to home made fresh food. I immediately loved all the natural ingredients in this product and our dog did too!… Read more
The sardines and salmon was her favourite flavour and the smell of the fan being opened made her come running everytime.
We noticed a difference in how shiny her coat was and she seemed very content and full after each serving. We did notice she had a bit of smelly gas the first few days we tried her on this product but that is to be expected when trying a new dog food and it quickly settled after a few days. I have read so much about the benefits of sardines and fish oil on older dogs bones and organs so it felt really good to give her a product that she enjoyed and that I could feel confident was good for her. We were very happy with this product and will definitely continue buying it.

Two thumbs (or paws) up! – Our dogs go wild for Ivory Coat's Grain-Free Dog Food! It's a big hit with my picky pups Tilly and Cooper who do so much better on a grain-free diet. They love it - in particular the salmon/fish but also the chicken, and I've noticed a huge boost in their health—shiny coats and lots of energy! They only like a couple of brands of food they like, so it's also a relief to see their sensitive tummies happy and healthy with Ivory Coat! Show details · 1
Extremely happy customer ! – We have been using ivory coat for many years and our dogs skin and coat is soft, silky and shiny. Our dog is in great health and has no digestive issues whatsoever. Our dog also enjoys the flavour (has allergies so the fish really is a great option) and this makes meal time so much easier! We couldn’t be happier with this product and would highly recommend for the quality, price and results Show details · 1

Grain Free Adult All Breeds Dry Dog Food Salmon & Ocean Fish – While my own dog didn't take to Grain Free Adult All Breeds Dry Dog Food Salmon & Ocean Fish, it turned out to be a hit with my friend's furry companion! Despite its promising ingredients and enticing aroma, my pup just wasn't interested. However, seeing my friend's dog gobble it up happily was reassuring. Not to my dog's liking – I was really hoping my moodle would like this one given it has fish in it, something he doesnt have enough of in his diet. Alas, he did not take to the flavour and would leave his bowl unfinished. I did like the fact that the food was not overly fishy in smell, so was generally impressed by now natural the food looked. I received this product from Ivory Coat to review.
Not quite so well liked – Gerry enjoyed this dry food however doesn’t seem to be such a fan of fish. He ate a lot of grass after eating, so his tummy wasn’t quite happy. I received this product from Ivory Coat to review Show details

Would recommend for dogs with sensitive skin – My staffy has sensitive and itchy skin. She is allergic to most dog food and breaks out in hives. The salmon and grain free kibble is her favourite and helps prevent her skin from flaring up. Show details · 1
High quality pet food – We’re really loving all the products we’ve been sent out. I’m enjoying the high quality ingredients knowing my ani als are getting the nutrient dense food they need . My neighbours cat has been hanging around when we out the dogs biscuits out! The words is out on our street . Good food has arrived!!
Great ingredients, healthy dog food! – I received this product from Ivory Coat to review. We loved this product and love the healthy ingredients and the fact that it is grain free. My dog ate this dry mixed with some wet food from ivory coat too but also really enjoys the biscuits on their own. They don’t smell and are easy to store. Will definitely keep purchasing as it provides a healthy diet for my dog! Show details
Love the salmon flavour – I received this product from ivory coat to review. I have previously purchased ivory coat so I knew I was going to love it for my pup. The ingredients are high quality and my French bulldog absolutely loves it! This salmon in particular is our favourite because poultry can sometimes be inflammatory for dogs. My dog thrives on a salmon diet. Will definitely repurchase.

Puppy Loves It! – Ivory Coat has been a game-changer for my little pup pup. This food is high quality on my inspection has a blend of healthy ingredients. My puppy was happy to eat each meal which is a testament as he is a fussy eater but he loved the real meat. Tail wagging and happy puppy means happy me! Strong flavour – I am not sure if the flavour of this one has a stronger odour than other brands with a salmon/fish range, however one out of two of my huskies was not a fan, she is normally quite a fussy eater. My other pooch on the other hand demolished his entire bowl and tried to eat hers. I would buy this dry kibble again but perhaps in another flavour as they both liked the chicken variety. New Go-To Dry Food – My girl absolutely loves the Ivory Coat Salmon and Ocean Fish dry dog food so much that we have now changed over to this as her staple dry food. Our girl is a grazer with her biscuits, but I have noticed she is eating more then usual now she is on this. Smells great for humans and the ingredients look good also. Her farts are still pretty bad but that comes with the bully breeds normally. I received this product from Ivory Coat to review. Show details
Great value & quality – My dog (beagle x) has loved the switch we recently made to the grain free range! We’ve noticed that his coat has a nice shine and he’s put on a healthy amount of weight. It was a seamless transition using the guide on the back. We gave a mixture of wet and dry food and have loved how much our dog enjoys it. We received this product from Ivory Coat to review. Great quality – Quality tin food! My dog can be a little picky with new foods but she absolutely loved this one. The cat even wanted to try it! The smell is also not like usual tinned food and was in no way offensive. You can actually see veggies etc. I was gifted this by Ivory Coat to review
Quality dog food – We have given this food to our dogs in the past and they’ve always really enjoyed this flavour. When given long term it seemed to make their coats a little more shiny. Great fish meal for my bestie – My dog absolutely loved this food. I transitioned him onto Ivory Coat and he was so excited to eat each meal. Definitely a good quality dog food and will keep him on this food from now on. He prefers… Read more
