Terrible. Product arrived with paint missing and parts broken. If it can't withstand postage wrapped in bubble wrap how will it work moving a bike!!!! Their solution to the paint scratches (which appeared to be manufacturing fault) was to provide paint pens. Shed stand took ages to arrive as did the slow flood struts. When it did arrive the… Read more
shed stand wobbles and is unsafe with bikes loaded. The slow fold struts do not work and can't even be installed.
Months of back and forth. I asked for a refund and they just send more faulty equipment. Still denying me a refund.
You also can't leave a review on their site. The entire 5 star review appears to be fake.
They have finally admitted to an issue with the slow fold struts and offered a refund. With out the struts the rack is extremely heavy and awkward to get back on and off. Tried to compromise with them and get half my money back however the would not compromise.
They continue to deny issues and send instructions that are for a different product.
DO NOT BUY!!!! You have been warned!
Would give zero stars if we could. Rack did not go together properly. Parts were missing or did not work. When we asked the company about it were told didn't matter, even though it was the reason we went with them in the first place. Had to go through our bank for a charge back because they refused a refund. They also charge GST when the sole… Read more

Please avoid JB Racks at all costs! They have a great website and some really impressive AI-generated reviews. However, my family purchased a 4 Bike Vertical Rack and massively regret that decision. The quality of the material is very low. The rack itself will come in multiple boxes and just appears at first to be pieces of metal brackets and… Read more
bags and bags of bolts. Putting this thing together was a major project - there were lots of missing parts. To JB Rack's credit, they were responsive via email and told me those parts that were missing were not needed. And they sent additional instructions. The second set of instructions were quite a bit different, so I had to take much of the rack apart and re-build it. Upon re-building it, there were many quality issue concerns - to the point that I reached back out and asked for new struts, spacers, and hardware. Which they did send. The original struts were completely airlocked and did not work. Once all together (and this was a long process), I put the rack on my vehicle and could not believe how wobbly and unsafe it was. I tightened everything down, reluctantly put bikes on it, and drove down the road. One of the straps popped off within the first five minutes of driving. Thankfully, the bike stayed in place as I had a bike lock on all of the bikes.
And with all that said, I contact JB Racks several more times with my concerns of the quality and they just kept saying thank you for the purchase, here are a new set of instructions to build the rack. I did all that I could to make the rack work and still, it is completely terrifying. I would be okay with putting a bunch of Huffy's on it that I could replace every time one falls off. But my expensive race bikes? No thank you. I tried and tried (over 17 emails back and forth so far) and JB Racks stated that the videos of the excessive movement I sent them were within tolerance. Which is insane! I will never and could never recommend JB Racks. I am working through my credit card company's purchase protection forms now to try to get my money back. Stay away from JB Racks!!

Have you been looking for a rack that is reliable, a great value and isn't an obnoxious red color? Then look no further than JB racks. I've put MILES on this rack now. Dirt roads, offroad trails shuttling and 100's of highway miles now. Plain and simple, it works and there's no fuss. JB racks is the only company to my knowledge that has a… Read more
compatible stand for your rack (highly recommend). This truly sets them apart from the rest of the industry in my opinion and makes for winter storage an absolute breeze. I can't say enough good things about the rack, the company and their customer service.
Works like it should and supports 4 bikes without handlebar interference. Rides a little loose in a 2" receiver hitch, so I would definitely suggest a hitch stabilizer.
1. No delivery notifications. Items were just left at the property for us to discover. 2. One of the six boxes did not arrive. JB Racks promised to track it down. No updates for a week. Still no box. 3. Several metal bars were not correctly punched (see pic). I had to bash the pieces out of the bars with a chisel and hammer. 4. The half-dozen… Read more
bags of nuts, bolts and washers are not labelled. 5. The instructional videos and PDF instructions do not provide enough detail. 5. Instructions need to be customised for the items purchased to ensure the customer doesn't have to start construction again. For example, the four-bike rack needs different methodology to the five-bike rack. The twin struts require the rack to be built differently but this is NOT covered in the instructional video that you're steered towards. You have to watch the twin strut video FIRST. Who knew. 6. Bizarre - bolts supplied for some installations DON'T FIT (see pic). 7. All contact is via email. They refuse to pick up the phone. 8. What a waste of time.

Do not waste your money on this rack! You will regret it. We used ours for the first time driving from Melbourne to Queensland. All national highways, no off-road, no bumps, nothing but flat surface. 4hrs in to the drive, one of the top straps split and we almost lost a bike. Only reason it was left on the Hume Highway was because of a bike lock I… Read more
put through all the bikes to ensure they weren't stolen at our overnight stays. This was the very first time using it and was told the straps are a "consumable" component and woukd be affected by external factors. Again, very first time i ever used it. Quality speaks for itself. On top of that, 3 tyres were dead flat when we arrived at our first night stay, and the bottom fixing bar was bent and warped. Not steady whatsoever, bike shake and rattle the entire journey and overall quality is quite poor for a system you pay $1,100 for. Customer service poor too. Asked for a refund and was told no. Apparently the rack is of sound and secure quality. Sent replacement parts thinking this would solve the issue. I wont be using this on my car ever again. Spend a bit more and buy something of better quality and integrity!!

Ordered the rack, received a part that had to be replaced, JB Team acted swiftly and with no hassle and arranged a replacement, and looked after me for the inconvenience. Great customer support and so far really happy with the rack!!
Follow-up · Assembly - the video makes it easy to follow, lots of screws and bolts to put it together, the parts come together. Durable - so far it’s held together extremely well, we use it regularly. Overall - good value for the level of investment, allows me to easily move around 3-5 bikes. I would highly recommend the trolley, great for storage and moving the rack around.

bundle. The garage stand doesn't fit the rack and JB Racks admitted in writing they need to re-engineer it but continue selling it anyway. Several pieces didn't fit together new out of the box and needed replacements sent out. Multiple redundant parts were included for previous models which shows there's no attempt at quality control.
Overall quality of materials and manufacturing tolerances are extremely poor. Even though the 4 bike rack was unusable I was told I'm not eligible for a refund. I was sent the same refund rejection note multiple times which shows they have a script for how to reject refund requests, or they use AI for customer complaints. I was able to get a Charge Back refund approved by my bank such is how terrible the product is. This company should not be in business!
I reported them to the ACCC. Do not deal with this business!

I would NOT recommend JB racks vertical bike racks. No proper instructions. 3 parts have broken, yet they refuse a refund. Just want to keep sending me out “upgraded parts”. No contact phone number to talk to someone. I could be engaging with AI not a real person with my complaints for all I know.
Follow-up · No they won’t let me speak to a manager or have a refund. They just keep sending me replacement parts but then another part breaks. I am escalating this as it is disgraceful.i have had three parts break one after another all within 3 months.

"I did a lot of searching and enquiring regarding bike racks, I ended up buying a JB Rack because of several reasons. The price is excellent, the story behind them is inspiring, the rack itself is strong and durable, I added the strut for easier lowering, overall I highly recommend them to anyone searching for a great bike rack. Extremely Poor Quality and Unacceptable Customer Service – JB Racks Should Not Be in Business I purchased the JB 5-bike vertical carrier shortly after Christmas. It was delivered in early January and remained in my garage for several weeks before assembly. The issues began during installation of the double struts. The provided instructions were… Read more
unclear and inadequate, so I contacted JB Racks for assistance. They sent two different videos, neither of which accurately reflected the correct installation process. After multiple failed attempts, I discovered a bolt was missing from the original packaging. A replacement bolt was eventually provided, but the process took approximately two weeks.
What should have been a straightforward assembly step became unnecessarily frustrating and time-consuming due to outdated, inaccurate instructions and missing components. I had to experiment with various spacer and washer combinations to align the struts properly. Even then, the supplied 120mm bolts were not long enough to accommodate two washers on each side as required.
Once assembled and mounted on my vehicle, a further design flaw became apparent: the small “ears” intended to support the rear wheels did not align with the front wheel holders. Only two out of five bikes aligned correctly. When I raised this with JB Racks, I was told this was “how it is designed.” This is clearly a fundamental design fault. Every other reputable bike rack I have since examined allows proper front-to-rear wheel alignment when bikes are loaded, ensuring stability and preventing damage.
I used the rack only once, in good weather conditions with no rain or high humidity. The components were completely dry when installed, and the rack was returned to the garage immediately afterward. Despite this minimal use and proper storage, significant rust appeared within a week around the front wheel holders and on the bottom bar (the rear wheel support). The bottom bar was rusting from the inside out.
When I requested a full refund due to these defects, JB Racks refused. Instead, they offered replacement parts I did not need or want. This response demonstrates a complete disregard for consumer rights and product quality.
I have now lodged a formal complaint with NSW Fair Trading.
Conclusion: This product fails on multiple critical levels — poor design, inadequate instructions, missing parts, premature rust despite minimal and careful use, and unacceptable customer service. JB Racks appears to sell substandard, cheaply manufactured goods while providing minimal support to dissatisfied customers. I strongly advise against purchasing from this company. Consumers deserve far better.

Zero stars. Very dangerous and unsafe product. On only the third use, three of five elastics snapped and caused 3 out of 5 bikes to fall of the rack while driving, causing a traffic incident only narrowly avoiding damage and risk to other vehicles. Bought the 6 bike rack from JB racks, the reviews on their page seemed good. When the rack turned up, it needed about an hour and a half to assemble which seems excessive for what it is. First longer trip I used it on (out of town) one of the top straps broke and my daughter’s bike was destroyed when it came out of the harness. Tried contacting JB racks and they weren’t interested in anything other then blaming me for mis use.
I have used it a couple more times with many more straps broken but I had installed my own safety strap over the top so no lost bikes.
Making the situation worse is the locating pin hole has now elongated increasing the movement in the rack. I have only ever loaded this with a maximum of 4 bikes two of which are 20” kids bikes (no heavy e-bikes). JB Racks has just sent me around in circles trying to find a way of blaming me for the problem.
I would urge you to NOT buy this rack. It is a waste of your money and time.
Further to the frustration of the poor rack, is the even worse customer service. They have no interest in trying to fix the problem, their only interest is finding a way to blame you for it.
Please, PLEASE, save your hard earned money and do not buy this product!

We have had these for six months and 8 weeks in the strap broke and a bike came off the rack. bent (the plates, the steel upright) and JB racks sent all the components but no refund. Oh and this weekend two of the straps broke and two of our bikes came off and are damaged. Buyers beware. Note, we bought the e-bike version and only have had analog bikes on it. Gutted it’s damaged our brand new bikes I’d hate to see how it would fair with e-bikes on it. We feel gutted that we sped this money, our bikes are damaged and we won’t get a refund even thought this product does not do what it is intended to do.
WARNING: Structural Failure and Support Nightmare I’ve never encountered a product so poorly engineered or a company so dismissive of basic consumer rights. This JB Rack is a $1,000+ safety hazard disguised as a bike carrier. 1. Incompetent Logistics & "Missing" Parts The rack arrived incomplete, missing the crucial struts. I wasn’t notified… Read more
they were out of stock; I had to spend my own time chasing them down. When they finally arrived, they didn't even fit properly. Despite following the instructions perfectly and using the provided spacers, the fitment was so poor that JB Support actually told me, "Don't worry, you don't need the struts to use the rack." It's not the point I bought the rack with the struts as part of the value proposition.
2. Major Manufacturing Flaws The Hitch Pin Fiasco: The provided threaded hitch pin was too short for a standard class hitch. I had to wait for a second shipment just to get a pin that would actually reach through the receiver.
The "Wobbly" Shed Stand: Their website claims the shed stand stabilizes the bike, but because the pin holes don't line up due to manufacturing errors, you can’t even insert the hitch pin. My "stable" rack is now held together by snatch straps just so it doesn't tip over in the garage.
3. Structural Failure (The Smoking Gun)
The most terrifying issue: the top rail holding the tires has already bent by 80mm on one side compared to the other. It has a permanent deformation and shows no sign of "springing back," meaning the metal has reached its yield point and will likely snap soon.
Load: 5 bikes at 14kg each (70{kg total). Rated Capacity as per their website: 110kg I am at 63% of the rated capacity, and the rack is already failing when the bikes have been placed on the rack in a stationary position and I haven't even used it on the road where bumps will only increase the load.
4. Zero Support / ACL Breach
Despite these being clear major defects under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), JB Rack has refused to cooperate or acknowledge the safety risks. They are happy to take your money, but they will not stand behind a product that is objectively unfit for its intended purpose.
Final Verdict: This rack is unsafe for road use. I am currently pursuing "other avenues" to get a refund because I refuse to risk my bikes or the safety of the drivers behind me on this scrap metal. STAY AWAY
We bought a 6-bike rack from JB Racks for our family trip, and unfortunately, the straps failed during normal use on the very first day — resulting in several bikes becoming dislodged and damaged. the green straps are “consumables,” and their warranty “covers only major failures related to defects in materials or workmanship with the rack,” not normal wear and tear.
It’s hard to see how straps breaking in five different places on day one could be considered normal wear and tear. The rack itself may be solid, but the strap system failed catastrophically and created a significant safety risk.
The team responded promptly and sent replacement straps, but we were very disappointed that they did not take responsibility or offer a refund or compensation for the damage caused.
Sharing this review so others are aware before purchasing — safety and reliability should come first.

blamed “external factors” instead of taking responsibility for a clearly weak design. Old saying rings true here: “Buy cheap, buy twice.” Do yourself a favour and steer well clear of this brand – not worth the risk or frustration.
Terrible, beware! replacement sets of rubber straps send to me now. I have had 7 instances where bikes have fallen off and been damaged. JB Racks were less than helpful when asked how they would rectify their flawed product. They wanted me to completely dismantle my rack, package it and pay a courier to return it, before they would even entertain the idea of a refund. Pictured is my rack, it had 5 bikes on it weighing a total of 71kg (well under the maximum recommended weight). Even after fitting the “recall” bracket (because JB Racks know their product is flimsy) and then deciding to add 3 extra 3mm thick steel braces, because it was soo flimsy, it still completely snapped the “recall” bracket, sheared the cheap supplied bolt that holds it on AND the frame has completely cracked. And that was highway driving, not even off road! JB Racks are literally only good for the bin!
Its worth noting this was purchased as a gift for me, and I don’t have the original receipt.
If you want a good quality rack at a good price. Do your research. I have now ordered a “Alpine Adventure Rack”. Thy are rated better than shingleback!
