Disposed of Jeep Grand Cherokee, Limited, 3 litre diesel due to inadequate product support experienced – We disposed of the vehicle, at a low price, while still under manufacturer's warranty, with only very low kilometres travelled, due to our experience, consequential opinion and our ongoing concerns that product support from Jeep/Stellantis Australia was woefully inadequate in our case. We lost confidence in using the vehicle for its intended… Read more
purpose. Serious warranty issues required multiple rectification attempts at different dealerships, in different States, over a long period of time. The "Jeep Assist" support process was unhelpful to us. Jeep's recall process was also inadequate in our opinion with a serious recall not notified in Australia until almost one year after the same recall was notified in North America. Jeep/Stellantis Australia, at a high level, would not take any responsibility for the outcome of our extremely bad ownership experience and refused access for us to directly discuss our experience with its Australian CEO. We have over 50 years of car ownership experience and consider this the worst experience of all and consequently would not recommend the purchase of a new Jeep vehicle.
Lost still – Living on the far south coast of NSW, Bega, we regularly have to head to Canberra for stuff (eg medical etc) now Canberra is usually a 3 hour drive - but not using the Jeep nav system its a 9 hour drive as it wants to send us via Sydney - this is a regular issue with the nav system and not just for this trip - recently had a contractor turn up to… Read more
my place in a nice new Jeep 1 hour late, he had to ring me to get directions as the Jeep was taking he all over the place (sorry but my wife and found very amusing) - I now have a holder setup to hold a small Samsung tablet that we use with google maps and a offline system (for when there is no service) - but it does play music so thats good
I purchased the car brand new, and had it serviced at the dealer's service center every time it was due for a service. Not long after I purchased the car a shock absorber failed, had that replaced then the steering rack was faulty and that was replaced. I had the car for approx. 8 years and only driven it 85000k and the water boiled in the engine.… Read more
On inspection a pipe under the intake manifold had burst. I also noticed the water was rusty as you can see in the radiator header tank. Checking the service reports they say the "coolant level was checked and toped up as required" there was no coolant in the system. Also, I noticed the intake manifold is carboned up, I question has the compulsory DPF system been installed? As for the model of the car, I requested the car has the adaptive cruise control, but they were only dummy buttons.

Please DO NOT buy a Jeep – Since I bought my Jeep the error code P0673 (00) coming. Cause for the error is Glow plug, Cylinder 3 - circuit malfunction but I have replaced it 3 times. After around 2 weeks from the replacement it's coming again. I have all paid invoices and receipts of the issue. Also the issue only coming from COLD start and when the Engine run for 5 min and… Read more
then turn-off and ON. Issue not coming.
All Jeep dealers I took the vehicle , informed me that they are unable to diagnostic the issue without Jeep and it was not successful. I also left my vehicle with the Jeep dealer for 3 days and still they couldn't fix the issue.
Please be aware of lacking of knowledge for issues with Jeep. Please don't do the same mistake I have done by buying a Jeep.
Was Very happy with our Jeep – We purchased our new Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD Limited in Jul 2013. Extremely happy with our purchase, it tows our 21’ Van with ease, and give good fuel economy ( 12.5 L per 100 towing and 6.9 L average). After 5 yrs of continuous use, we have had no major problems, ( some minor warranty ones) The Diesel engine and transmission are well matched,… Read more
interior layout is good and functional. Would we buy another... a definite Yes...
17th August 2022. Update, just a heads up so to speak, we have owned our Jeep now for 9 Years 180,000 km and we have towed a big Caravan around Australia. Still happy with the performance and the product overall, however we have had some problems, like the Alternator failing (expensive at over $1000) and there has been considerable soot and muck build up in the intake manifold, this is apparently a big problem with the diesel engine and one of the reasons that Jeep no longer have a diesel in their product line up. I was very expensive to fix but all is well now and we are looking forward to our next big trip to Tasmania and WA.
UPDATE October 2022 Nine years in now, with 185,000 on the clock and 3 major trips around Aust towing a 3000kg Caravan. Still basically happy with the Jeep, but a big problem with the anti pollution system as used on the Diesel, due to the design requirements of feeding in some exhaust gases and crankcase ventilation into the engine manifold the interior of the Manifold totally 'coked' up, this cost a lot of money to have the manifold removed and cleaned out ( new $1100 Manifold not available ) plus rectification work to stop this from happening again. Another problem is the water coolant hose which runs under the Manifold, this needs to be replaced too as it is subject to a lot of heat and cracks open. So we are back on the road again getting ready for our next big trip.
UPDATE Late October 2022 Well.. more problems, our Jeep is starting to let us down, we had an EGR coolant leak behind the engine block (known problem), cost $1100 to fix also a cracked headlight lens, (now 2 as at 11th Nov) cannot replace the Lens, new Headlight assembly, it costs an eye-watering $4100 to replace..
Latest Update Oct 2025 At 235,000 km it is time to trade it in, big shock when 3 dealers only offered us a $5000 trade in, incredible when you remember we paid $75,000 for it in 2013☹️

V8 Hemi – Have owned this vehicle new since 2014, bought the V8 version as we do very low KM's and the diesel would not be suitable as stop, start before warmed up would cause major engine damage - this is a fantastic model and has given zero trouble, just be careful what dealers you use for service as they are not all equal, one dealer wanted to replace… Read more
the rear suspension for $700 (never been off road and extremely low km's) as the rear bushes has some movement when up on the hoist - ahh Hello, it is not a fixed axel rear suspension, movement will be evident when unloaded i.e not compressed, then another time the dealer wanted to bill me for a oil dip stick, stated it had a twist in it and therefore damaged - again Hello, the twist is to allow the dip stick to provide rigidity and lock into position - hey Mr Dealer, we were not born yesterday and looking for a "long weight". Jeep are great manufacturers and this vehicle is of good build quality - just watch out for those pesky dealer looking to rip you off for stuff that is not damaged - goes to show when a vehicle is that good the dealers need to make work for themselves to make a profit out of you........ Got get a better dealer Ps. many of the Jeep dealers are very, very good, just challenge the dodgy ones - you will now them when you see them
Outstanding car – Purchased new $62k, 7 years ago in 2013, now done 101,000 km. Reliable, great fuel economy (8.3 l/100km). Totally no mechanical issues at all. Great value for money:- packed with features that i've only seen in cars that cost 2x the price. Sensational sound system with 500gb hard drive, 4 heated seats (not 2 like many others), freezing cold… Read more
AC, buckets of really smart features like DC outlets, rain sensing wipers, auto dipping mirrors & headlights, heated steering wheel .. (remember my car is 7 years old now ... I'm still finding new stuff), great rear camera, powerful engine, great bluetooth, great lighting inside & out. Also, FULL SIZE spare wheel which is IMPORTANT if you are towing heavy loads (say, horses). Think about that. My only negative comments would be: 1. rear storage not huge because of underfloor spare wheel & 2. rear seats could have some extra padding 3. mine is only a 5 speed auto, later models are at least 6 or 8 speed. I would buy another Grand Cherokee Limited in a heartbeat.
Life and Death – Never, never, NEVER again will we own a Jeep. We purchased a 2nd hand Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012 to pull our caravan, with excellent service history and also during our ownership of it. Whilst on the road in central Australia we encountered severe issues resulting in the car shutting itself off and not restarting for some time. Having paid full… Read more
cover with Jeeps 24hr roadside assist, we felt confident that we would be looked after. Boy, were we wrong about that! All initial contact was promises of assistance and cover for towing costs to nearest dealership. This was repeated and reconfirmed a number of times, however when actually getting ready to arrange it, they stated about getting quotes for us....? Jeep backed us with a follow up regarding this, however parent company Fiat refused to assist in any form. This left us in the middle of Australia with a car that we had NO confidence in and 100’s of kms between towns and over 1000 kms to a Jeep dealership. To say we were disappointed with Jeep (and Fiat) is an understatement. All the recent adverts about Jeep improving their customer service and product did not live up to any high standards at all for us in August 2020! Jeep, if you say you are going to lift your game, THEN DO IT!!! Don’t risk people’s lives...

Had some major engine failure but Jeep really took care of us through the ordeal – Our 2018 Jeep had 21000 km on the clock when I noticed a knocking in engine.Took it to Jeep they said need new engine as big end failure.Jeep provided a hire car while getting fixed and we had a new engine replaced by Jeep dealer and now purrs like a kitten.Very happy with way they handled whole problem Show details
Best value for money you can buy today – The features and comfort of this car are amazing. Heated steering wheel and heated /cooling seats. I use it daily, towing a trailer. The rear view camera and air suspension, means I can connect the trailer from inside the car! Lots of room, heaps of power and a real head turner on the road. Go for it!! Show details
Love mine – Best car I’ve ever owned. So very happy with it. Used for daily driver, family trips and day trips to the beach or bush. Great for towing! Not had a single mechanical issue. This is my 2nd Jeep and best decision I ever made about cars! Show details

FCA Customer Support Pathetic – Purchase Dec 2017. From the first week had electronic's problems. Dealer would nor believe my complaint even though it was evident in their workshop. Took 6 weeks to get a new uConnect, after 4 visits to the workshop, 6 months in total. Still have not fixed rain sensor for wipers. have only had manual control for 2 years. Sept 2019 cannot replace the rain sensor, as it is part of $3000 windscreen, and will not respond to the dealer on a replacement. Very poor customer service, FCA not interested. Great car in many respects, but zero support. After owning 2 my next will not be an FCA brand.
Blown engine – Bought my GC limited Diesel from Irelands in Cairns in Jan.16 All went downhill very quickly with sump oil leaks followed by a timing cover oil leak that had to be returned 3 times to rectify.1 month from the warranty expiring the brake booster pump failed.New unit fitted only to have a failure within a fortnight, was filled with silicone. 56000 km and 2 months out of warranty the engine seized solid. Big hearted Jeep did replace the engine as a GOODWILL gesture, took 7 weeks and no loan vehicle.I asked what warranty I get with the new engine and was to NIL and if it goes bang again it will be at my expense.New engine costs approx. $25000.00. The engines are failing world wide, be careful and consider your options.

Great for three years then a disaster – Done 88,000kms in less than 5 years. Family car used only on sealed roads, highway and town. Car serviced by dealer all services attended. Consumer identified problems have been: Moonroof seal noise(told can’t fix must replace at $3400). Cup holder metal lifted scratches hand($1000 fix). Turbo blown cost to replace is $17500 plus labour. Show details

Now it arrived 2 mths ago and they want to CHARGE $$$$ 300 We are so disappointed in there service The Jeep has only done 36,000 kms and has had its problems but tows it great but we need to use the phone to navigate I am speaking to other Jeep owners this trip and will be seeking further action I would not buy another Jeep on principle My wife and I buy new cars every 4 years And the replacement for this will be another land cruiser.

Pig of a car – Same as others constant faults with media electronics. Response from Jeep Australia also very similar to other complaints made here. Happy with WK2 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel Ltd – I am happy with my 2014 Limited Diesel. I looked at a Prado and JGC the Jeep drove so much better and had so many features compared to the Toyota's very basic. I don't mind Toyota but i think there is just too much hype about them and have their problems like all brands and also are too pricey for what you get. The interior is well finished and… Read more
all the extras, heated front and back seats, steering wheel. It even can be set to come on automatically when cold. Voice commands USB front and back etc etc. For comparison the Prado still had a LCD one line radio display to the Jeeps 8" multifunction touch screen or voice activation.
I plan to tow a van also so the Prado dipped out there having under 3 tonne and the Jeep 3.5 tonne tow rating. I have had the few recalls, but no real issues all done when serviced except the shift S-49 i took in for recall as i do all my own servicing once the warranty expired, I have 167,000K's up now. Like most people i was not happy with Jeep dealers and servicing costs. Robbery prices for filters and oil. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Ryco or Wesfil filters and buying your own oil on special from Supercheap or Repco. The Dealer i bought the car from fried the computer when doing an update and had to give me a loaner to get home. They had the car for six days waiting for the replacement computer and did not change the Diff oils they were supposed to but didn't forget to charge me though. They paid for a local mechanic to change diff oil as i live a long way from dealer. I have changed my diff and transfer case oils since then for a fraction of the price.
The only thing that is annoying is the foot hand brake, but you get used to that over time and in the big picture is nothing.
The Diesel is very economical with heaps of Torque getting low 7.5 country to 8.2 around town. To sum up i deducted a star for poor Dealers and servicing but I really enjoy driving the Jeep.
Fabulous best car I have ever had – I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited it has done over 160,000kms only problem washer went in the fuel pump you cannot beat that. Worst after sales service EVER! – I recently bought a Jeep to tow my boat. I had the factory Jeep towbar installed. no help and refer me back to FCA. I love my Jeep but will never buy another based on this experience. I understand the need for the recall as safety is paramount but the complete lack of service and care from FCA is a deal breaker. So far I haven’t been able to tow over Easter and the last 3 weekends. I purchased the Jeep to tow. It is clearly unfit for purpose. Woeful service.
Electrical Power Steering pump failed after 4 years – We bought a new Jeep Cherokee in December 2014. Yesterday while I was driving the electrical Power steering pump failed. better than having heated seats and a 2 inch lift and one inch performance lowering on command - watching missus smoke an ss commodore at the lights while it gets wheel spin and blows out black smoke.
Honestly I’ve had every model of Jeep and know every defect. I’ve fixed a lot of seemly big issues which are minor but often the Jeep techs struggle with. Like cleaning the battery to chassis terminal from the atm battery on the wk. all of a sudden there’s no more fault lights and feels like it supercharged what a difference. Who could have thought we could love this car more.
Sure cars might have some defects - so does your missus, so do all cars and most wives.
If you want to live in a sealed box your whole life and don’t take risks or see adventure at new heights, buy a Kia or Toyota.
If you love adventure take risks and live your life to the max - get a grand Cherokee.
If you want to know common faults on any model send me a text - I’ll convert you, like the other people in my life that now know how to live
