Jellis Craig Brighton Jellis Craig Brighton — 1 star "Without consent, Jellis Craig Brighton installed a real estate sign on my wife's private fence to advertise the sale of a neighbouring unit. Rather than accepting responsibility, their General Manager [Name Removed] conducted what she called a 'thorough investigation' — which included presenting our own damage photograph back to us as though it was their pre-installation evidence. When challenged on this, no explanation was provided. [Name Removed] then put in writing that she understood I was 'recording conversations without consent.' This accusation is entirely false, completely unverified, and remains unretracted. Jellis Craig's Compliance & Risk Manager at corporate level was made aware of the full situation and has taken no meaningful action. The REIV, whose Code of Conduct has demonstrably been breached here, also failed to return my call. This is not a customer service complaint. This is documented trespass, property damage, misrepresentation of evidence, and a false accusation made in writing by a General Manager. I will be publicizing this matter. If you have had a similar experience with Jellis Craig or any real estate agency that escaped accountability, I want to hear from you.

Had an absolutely horrible experience with Jellis Craig! Our settlement date was close to Christmas, but our vendor did not move out on this date, claiming he wasn’t aware of this deadline date. We will never know whether this was pure ignorance, or failure to receive required communication, but regardless, we were left scrambling, with very… Read more

little support or assistance from these agents.

Attempts to contact any Jellis Craig agent fell on deaf ears, as they’d all diverted their phones to ‘holiday mode’, and the one agent that was allegedly working at this time, informed us that he was away and couldn’t help.

We were never offered a final inspection, so we were left with a property in a filthy state, with no recourse to follow up, as they’d all clocked off for the year.

They couldn’t care less, once the deal is done. Don’t make the mistake of using these selfish people. They are the epitome of the quintessential, self-serving real estate agents!

Genuinely the most pathetic landlords I have ever dealt with. They are repeatedly blatantly violating our tenant's rights in a condescending, disrespectful way. Absolute scumbag real estate agents who I will be taking to court.

Try anybody else – Disgusting. After first putting the fact there was a water leak on the report, and then following up multiple times via phone and email. they worked with the owner of the property owner to evict the tenant. They signed a statutory declaration that said the owners were moving back in. A week later the place was declared a bio hazard. Both the… Read more

landlord and the agent knew it was unviable to live in, yet they signed the statutory declaration regardless.

A property manager should ensure the place is kept in a livable condition because it's in both the owners' and the tenants' best interests. This property manager decided that it was easier to just cream the money off the top and ignore the state of the property.

When the tenant departed, the property was riddled with black mould and declared a bio-hazard.

This feels like a shared experience. Absolutely horrific that they can get away with this.

Instead, she provides the necessary insight and space to move at a comfortable pace. Beyond being easy to work with, Karen is a consummate professional whose communication is clear and detail-oriented. If you are looking for someone who combines genuine kindness with a sharp professional strategy, I highly recommend Karen.

Review for Jellis Craig Bayside Glen Eira – Experience with Jacquie Douglas My experience with this agency deteriorated the moment my property was assigned to Jacquie Douglas. The mismanagement was constant and exhausting. • Lease renewal ignored for five months, despite repeated written requests. • Approved carpet quote left to expire, then I… Read more

was told to pay more because nothing was actioned. • Jacquie applied pressure on me to pay to move the tenants’ furniture, even though Consumer Affairs confirmed it was the tenants’ responsibility. • Emails ignored, incorrect advice given, and basic tasks left undone unless I chased them. • An incorrect lease‑renewal fee was charged to the trust account, even though it had been waived in writing — and I had to identify and request the correction myself.

Because of this ongoing mismanagement, I changed agencies, and the difference in professionalism was immediate. Based on my experience, I strongly advise landlords to avoid Jacquie Douglas.

past the lease expiry" JC actually negotiated for me to 'take-over' another breaking lease at the expiry of my current tenancy, and agreed the current owner had allowed a grace period of a week for the other tenant to vacate. Jellis agreed to withdraw the VCAT on the morning of the hearing, and paid my bond back in full, over a month after I lodged the claim with RTBA. FF to the new property, they have advised rent will increase, and if I dont like it I can get a report from Consumer Affairs. CA came and inspected and wrote a report agreeing that the current rent was high, and that any increase was excessive. Jackie Douglas advised that after 'negotiation with CA' they had increased the rent anyway. CA confirmed that no such agreement was made. Back to VCAT again where Jackie Douglas claimed to have no previous knowledge of the property. They have no morals and the 'team' at Jellis Craig are a bunch of unethical, deceitful donkeys who are there to exploit tenants and landlords alike.

Inspected a sold property My recent experience with Jellis Craig Melbourne North East was nothing short of infuriating. I tried to contact the agent to request a contract so I could submit an offer—only to find out the property was already marked… Read more

as SOLD online today (25/06/2025), with a backdated sold date of 10/06/2025.

Let me be clear: this is completely unacceptable. Why was an inspection being held for a property that had allegedly sold 11 days earlier? Even worse, as of Tuesday evening, the listing was still showing as available with an upcoming inspection scheduled for Saturday, 28/06.

This isn’t just a minor oversight—it’s outright deceptive. Buyers expect a basic level of honesty and professionalism. Instead, I was misled, wasted my time, and now seriously question the integrity of this agency.

If the property was under offer or sold, it should have been updated immediately. Hosting inspections for sold properties is underhanded an two faced. It makes me wonder how many other listings are similarly inaccurate and how much time buyers are wasting chasing properties that are already gone.

This experience has left me with zero confidence in Jellis Craig’s (Eltham) ability to manage listings transparently or ethically. I will not be trusting or dealing with this agency again—and I would strongly caution other serious buyers to be vigilant when dealing with them.

1st thing to mention is that months after giving management of the rental we were leasing to the house owner, they tried to keep our bond, even though they had nothing to do with the property at that time. She also tried to record me during a meeting, without consent. I have made many complaints to consumer affairs, and happy to provide any evidence of my claims. These people are corrupt, and do not care if they make you homeless. They are lucky that justice can only be legally implimented through government.

After the property was listed and the first inspection I was told there no buyers for the price range advertised and I have to agree to reduce the price range by $100k to help attract buyers, which I agreed to noting they have to still deliver my targeted price. Finally at the auction they couldn't get to the reserve price I set and started pushing me to sell at much lower price, which I refused to do. I suggested to take this sale to after Xmas/NY when buyers will get back. They didn't want to do that and offered me a $15k reduction in their commission if I sell the property at lower price. But when I signed the CoS I was told the reduction is only $1500.

appear. Jellis Craig took over, and of course, began ensuring the landlord had his rent, but neglected the house, did no checks, and could not get maintenance approved, but still took all the rent, attended inspections, and observed the issues, but took no action. We've had a gas leak and black mold growing for some time now, but they won't speak to us. I now get headaches and nausea and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Links between black mold and the illness are currently being investigated and it seems mold can cause similar symptoms. We pay over $2000 a month, but that wasn't enough! It has also cost me my health.

The staff were unethical and financially aggressive. They manipulate and exploit tenants, and lack any empathy. At one point, a support agency approved a month's rent when we were struggling, and Jellis Craig staff WITHELD the funds and told the landlord that he should take us to VCAT for the funds. These people are criminals who move around the law for personal gain.

In the end, Jellis Craig gave the property management back to the landlord but tried to hold the bond. I had to apply to VCAT to make the Jellis Craig team leader return the bond. You CANNOT TRUST these people.

In these times when Aussies are struggling, there is a shortage of housing, and services are already overwhelmed, these people will exploit the vulnerable without a care if they end up homeless, and they'll be laughing all the way to their plush offices to celebrate your demise.

Would give them a zero if it was an option - avoid at all costs – I've rented two apartments through Jellis Craig now - one in Fitzroy which was lovely (and expensive) but the tenant above was a Launch Housing patient who made my life a living nightmare. Multiple times the police arrived and said that if possible I should stay somewhere else as the patient was known to them as dangerous. Jellis Craig Fitzroy… Read more

pretended to not know about any of it - but over time it came out that the liquid damage which started bubbling in the walls, the peeling windowsills and numerous other things which triggered my asthma were all from flooding upstairs and it was seeping into my walls. I even had a tradesperson say "I shouldn't tell you this, but the apartment is absolutely full of water damage" because I told them Priscilla was denying it. It was only when I got a direct death threat from the deranged biddy above me that the police said to come and file a report, and they escorted me out for safety purposes. I met the agent Priscilla and the poor owner who had been told NOTHING and freaked out when a baby doll's decapitated head was hung down right as she arrived, and all the disgusting things I had notified JC Fitzroy of yet had not been addressed. I paid 4-5 months rent and spent maybe 30 nights there in total. And they had the audacity to call me back after the final clean, because a few hairs were left in the shower and were about to take $300 off my bond. I arrived and the courtyard was full of shards of glass - the person above had kicked out a window which would have been absolutely deadly if I'd been sitting there at the time. JC had even said "did you know there is broken glass all over the courtyard?? to which I said - look up. And [Name Removed] said oh yeah, looks like a smashed window). A VCAT hearing has been stamped by the Judge however I feel terrible as it is against the owners, not Jellis Craig - who hid every single defect and police complaint from an elderly couple who owned it. My latest rental was through McGrath (who are wonderful) but has been taken over by JC as the owner is attempting to sell it through Jellis Craig. It has been on the market since July last year and every single week I am told (not asked) when they are doing viewings, and telling the 4 potential buyers in that time it's not selling because it's being tenanted. Yet their ad says GREAT RENTAL RETURNS. When they took the photos for their ad I watched through my home camera (yes, I already had a bad feeling and felt the need to watch what they were doing). The agent flung my personal items around, almost breaking a pendant light, opened my bedside drawers, rearranged furniture and breached every possible section of the tenants act. In summary they are the worst RE agents and to make things more comical - they boast how good they are. The sales agent rolls up in a crinkled suit every Saturday blocking my security camera and looking as if he just came from Revolver. I've been given an eviction notice for when the lease ends on the grounds it's not selling due to the apartment being tenanted. But good luck with that, as a huge multi-faceted development starts in the carpark I'm overlooking and will have underground drilling 7m from my balcony. Feel very sorry for the owner and confused as to why she chose them to sell in the first place.
