We love our blinds. Our front deck is almost like another room on our granny flat. The blinds help to keep the house cooler on the hot days and stop most of the breeze. Just Quality Paving – Anything But “Quality” If I could give zero stars, I would. The name Just Quality Paving couldn’t be further from the truth. About 15 months ago, I engaged them to complete the paving for my new build, and looking back, it was without a doubt the biggest mistake of the entire project. Since the initial installation, they’ve… Read more

had to return three separate times to attempt repairs — yet the paving still looks substandard and continues to cause problems. What was supposed to be a simple, lasting job has turned into an ongoing nightmare.

The Issues:

Uneven inspection points and drains: They weren’t level with the paving — this had to be fixed twice.

Poor cutting and large gaps: Instead of replacing or redoing, the gaps were filled with sand and then topped with a thin layer of cement. It still looks uneven and unprofessional.

Incorrect slope: One section was sloping towards the house instead of away from it. That was eventually “fixed,” but the same area has since started sinking.

Sinking areas elsewhere: Within just three months of completion, other sections began to sink — clear evidence of poor preparation and lack of compacting. These remain unresolved.

And now the most serious problem — waterproofing. After two independent building inspections, it’s been confirmed that:

Some sections have no waterproof membrane at all.

In other areas, the membrane they did install had shifted upward, and when they trimmed it to make it level with the paving, it left little to no waterproof protection.

This is not just bad workmanship — it’s negligence that has the potential to cause long-term structural damage.

I’ve since been in contact with Consumer Affairs and legal services, as I now need to hire another contractor to properly fix all of these issues. That’s going to cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket, for something that should have been done right the first time.

To make matters worse, the management at Just Quality Paving has been completely unhelpful and continues to defend the poor workmanship of their installers instead of taking responsibility.

Final Verdict: Do yourself a favour and stay well away from this company. Their name is misleading — there’s nothing “Just Quality” about what they deliver. A more fitting name would be “No Quality Paving.”

and professional. Our blinds were installed about 2 weeks earlier than expected which was great as it meant we could use our outdoor space to its full potential sooner. Before we had our blinds installed we were really limited to perfect weather to enjoy our outdoor area. Being on the western side of the property it was fully exposed to all the elements. The hot western sun and the nasty wet and windy weather which also comes from the North west or south west. Now with our blinds installed we can enjoy our outdoor area in all conditions. We can open them up on the perfect days and close them down when it’s not so nice and still enjoy our outdoor area knowing that not only us but also our outdoor area are now fully protected from the elements which will be beneficial in the long term. It also needs to be mentioned that about a month after installation when the cold winter weather started we had concerns about ripples being noticed in the blinds and a technician visited us immediately and assured us that when the blinds are new and left down the ripples disappear and after about 6-8 weeks they become even less evident and this proved to be absolutely correct. We had a follow up visit from Anelis about 12 months after installation which has enhanced our high opinion of Just Quality for any product that is available from them. We couldn’t be happier.

The first set of shutters have been great since being installed late 2023, and we will definitely only get electric ones (convenience is amazing). The shutters come with Somfy remotes (can pair these to a Bond Bridge and control them anywhere via WiFi). Thanks to Somfy/Bond Bridge (Bond Bridge purchased separately), I've also automated the shutters to close 45 mins before sunrise each morning so we keep some fresh air throughout the night.

Whilst our ceiling insulation is lacking (no sarking/insulation under the colorbond metal unfortunately), the difference in sound and heat is still felt upstairs. Think of it like this: if light travels, heat travels - and heat is best kept out than trying to get out.

As our shutters get rid of most of this upstairs already, we can't wait for our downstairs to get done. It'll also allow for better indoor blind options, as full privacy (blockout) will be given from the shutters instead.

Book for a quote the day you're ready to go ahead to put a deposit down (the day they come out) to get the best price advantages, and you're good to go. Also, do your research on quality of any products before buying; research the product itself, the company, the warranty, etc to know what you're getting.

I sometimes spend too long researching and it ends up taking months before making a worse purchase, anyway, especially listening to too many others reviews (good and bad). No regrets here and we're happy with our investment.

For Just Quality.. well, a 5 vs 15 years warranty being offered show the difference in a company willing to stand behind their products.
