10 years of worry free use – We have had this unit in the main bedroom for over 10 yrs now. It's used almost every night in summer and half a dozen or so nights in winter. Apart from the initial installation cost in 2004, no money has been spent on the unit and we've never had to call out a repairman. I took one star off because I would like the unit to be slightly quieter at night and the LED lights should be able to be dimmed or turned off completely at night. That would make it the perfect bedroom air-con.

Addendum to my review: I discovered after 10 yrs of using this unit that there is indeed a switch on the remote to cut the light to the digital display.

Still going strong after 13 years. No problems at all. No need to get it repaired. Still happy with the unit.

Addendum to the story. The air con finally stopped working last month after 14 years of worry free service. Have replaced with an updated model - KSV25HRH, which I will review soon. So far, this one is even better than the old one.

Kelvinator - Bad Air Conditioner – I have had a similar experience with the Kelvinator ESE09HRA. I paid $1,000 to have one installed in 2008. It stopped working about 6 months after it was installed. Electrolux didn't want to know. I had it repaired at a cost of $900.00. The repairer said it was a common fault and he would recommend that I have it replaced because it would happen again. Well he was right and it looks like I will be up for another $1,000+ to have it replaced. Total cost after 5 years $2,900+ Simple to operate Keeps breaking down

This product the worst of all kelvinators – Two breakdown during warranty, when warranty ceases by 7 months the same problem happened again their technician knew from the beginning the cause of these problems until the compressor now is gone a cost of almost of a new system their service is bad their technician is rude and he himself told me these airconditioners don't last too long so beware consumers if u r shopping for aircon. do not go for kelvinators also fridges or any appliances from them Unreliable system considering i only use it in some days in summer as i have a gas heater Every thing wrong since the beginning

DISSATISFIED WITH RELIABILITY – I purchased and had installed a Kelvinator split system air-conditioner model ESE09HR revers cycle for my mother's temporary bedroom some 5 years 4 months ago, it worked fine at first, then broke down 30 months later when would not heat or cool, faulty SOLENOID was fixed under warranty but repairer told me will happen again as is a common fault, air conditioner worked ok for next 30 months then same fault has occurred 4 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, ELECTROLUX HAS REFUSED TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY (which would be fine if problem was a once off situation, but apparently is a common fault with all Kelvinator Split System Reverse Cycle Aircontioners, estimated repair cost is between $200.00 and $700.00,plus a $95.00 call out fee is required which includes the first 15 minutes of quotation, then $35.00 for every 15 minutes, ELECTROLUX have refused to even look at this problem after several emails and advise of IMPLIED WARRANTY laws from Consumer affairs even know they are well aware that this air conditioner is in my 82 year old chronically ill mother's bedroom ,and as it is now winter, my mother has to sleep in a cold bedroom, my mother is a pensioner and cannot afford to pay repair costs for the same fault every 2 years or so for a manufacturing defect, I will now have to look at buying a decent brand reverse cycle air conditioner rather than wasting money on repairing my ELECROLUX heap of rubbish air conditioner every 2 years or so,regardless of high installation costs. AIRCONITIONER IS FINE WHEN IT WORKS CORRECTLY Airconditioner has a design faults that costs many hundreds dollars to repair every 2-3 years for the life of the airconditioner.
