Kenwood Premier Major KMM770

Great machine but clumsy and noisy – Great machine, as it makes my life easier when I have to bake and make desserts. I find it clumsy and noisy, I always use it on a tea towel and board. The dial seems cheap compared to the old kenwoods but this machine is a beast. I regularly minced meat, make butter, make pasta, lasagne sheets, choux pastry, pavlova, biscuits, cheese cake etc. … Read more
This has served me well over 7yrs, baking for kids parties and school fetes. The machine is big enough to handle big batches which is what I require when I bake, this is what I love about this machine because before my Kenwood I used my wooden spoon and brute strength.
I just pop it on during my days off do my chores and run back to it when my watch beeps at me to check it.
If you are like me and not fussed about the noise it makes, fair enough but if you are looking for a machine perfect in everyway this one isn't for you.
For me it is perfect because it does the job, works like the clappers, mine came with a few attachments at the time for mother's Day, over the yrs I added to it with pasta attachments but be careful because for this model you will need to purchase a special bolt to be able to use the pasta attachments but works fantastic. I have an ice cream maker attachment and that works well. My next purchase will be a good processor attachment. I love this machine because I can add attachments to it and not have to buy all these other machines.
I was only going to give 3 stars but I thought about everything and our Kenwood machine has serviced my family well over the years and made my baking and cooking life easier and cheaper, it is a star in our kitchen, the kids are using it now for baking and cooking.
Our Kenwood Major Premier receives 5 stars because it is a great fit for my family as it is a fantastic assistant in our kitchen which cuts down our prep time for baking and cooking when we need. I wouldn't go back to my wooden spoon even though this machine is clumsy and noisy, I am sure there is better out their but I am very happy with ours.
Overpriced rubbish – Purchased 8 years ago and hardly used as it doesn’t work as it’s supposed to. Creamer leaves unmixed amount on bottom of the bowl, it squeaks and the K mixer leaves everything unmixed. Had for a while I know but we never use it for good reason. Old double bearers work better. Never buy Kenwood again.
Sorry I bought this - bad bad service and motor is rubbish – After 5 months started making grinding noises when making normal cake batter , motor died - took back to retailer said nothing is wrong with this ??? HU?? Eventually agreed to send for repair ( I took it there myself as they said it could take a week or so just to get it to repairer) then took a month to get fixed , repairer confirmed motor was in… Read more
a bad way. Got it back after 1 use died again - back to retailer asked for replacement - initially refused saying nothing wrong metal grinding noise is normal (HU ??) I had to argue the point for almost an hour - this is the worse customer service EVER !!!! Had to go to the lengths of contacting Consumer Affairs to get legal advise - eventually replaced with new one , now this is doing the same. Bad bad bad and so disappointed as I saved up to buy this.
NEVER AGAIN :(
I was a loyal customer and had spend thousands in this store - Good guys - nope !
As for this model - do NOT waste your money.
This is a cheap thing. Bad quality – Old Kenwood went broke and the new one is now fixed twice within 2 years. These Kenwood things made somewhere faraway has bad quality. Motor got broke ones, Hinge did not lock but opens after awhile. The thing keeps terrible noise. Kenwood service pretend not to understand a simple question. sigh...
Fantastic Mixer: Don't know how I survived without it – I've always been hesitant about stand mixers because you can't remove the mixer from the base to make sure that the bottom of the batter is mixed well. This mixer has changed my opinion forever. I received this mixer for Christmas in 2013 and it was the best Christmas present I've ever had! I put it to work straight away, making a double… Read more
batch of gingerbread (8 cups of flour, 500 g of butter, so really heavy work). The gingerbread was mixed perfectly in 15 minutes. I was absolutely amazed: I'd always had to mix gingerbread by hand before.
Since then, I've used my mixer regularly to make all kinds of goodies including bread, cakes, meringues and ice cream, always with great results. I couldn't be happier. My only complaint is that this mixer works so efficiently that I tend to bake more often than I used to. Not so good for my waistline.....
Mixer is great, Kenwood service not so much – I wore my Kenwood Chef out July 2015 after 15 years, decided that due to the amount of bread/sausages/blending I do weekly, to upgrade to the Major. I purchased locally, not a chain store, in August 2014, and ran the mixer almost daily making up to 2 kg of bread dough, several kgs of sausage, and operating the blender. Unfortunately, in… Read more · 1
December 2014 the low speed drive for the mincer shattered the drive gear, I returned the mixer to where I had purchased it, and from there, to the local Kenwood agent. It has now been 5 months waiting for the part to be sent from Sydney to Auckland, and at this date, it appears that I will be waiting for a considerable time yet.
I am not impressed with Kenwoods service in any way, the Major is brilliant for what I use it for, but for any repairs I am under the impression it would be easier and quicker just to junk the broken one and buy another. Not impressed with Kenwoods service centre at all.
Can't live without it – Love it to death, I use this nearly every day, even made ice cream recently with the ice cream attachment. Used the blender attachment. I love how easy it is to change attachments, the machine is solid and does everything it says it can.
Very happy with this kitchen machine – I've had this machine for 10 months and really happy with it so far. I guess I've used it about 20 times, making bread/pizza, ice cream (optional attachment), jam and cakes. I love how easy it is to use, simple dial, solid/heavy construction, good warranty, powerful 1200w and how great it looks on the kitchen bench. All powerful machines makes… Read more
noise when you use it, not a big problem for me.
I did a lot of research before buying this one (after wasting money on the pretty but dreadful kMix machine), and I doubt there are better kitchen machines for the money at the moment.
I really hope it will last as long as my mums Kenwood Major...
Not what it promised to be – I took about six months to make a decision on a mixer. Eventually I went and got this one. I was so excited taking it out of the box. First disappointment was that the speed turner looks like it is made of cheap plastic and can come off any time. The handle for lifting up the beating hook although looks metallic seems made of painted metallic… Read more
cheap plastic too.
The top of the mixer was wobbly.
Also I was surprised to see that if you turn the blender the mixer is working too or if you work the mincer both the blender and mixer are spinning. It means the machine is working three times more than it is needed and is wearing out faster and consuming more electricity. Surely it shouldn't be too hard to make them work separately or simultaneously depending on the need.
I tested a blender first and it made a beautiful smoothie but to wash it was a big pain so many little parts and if you don't pull it apart every time who knows what sort of mild will grow there as you could see it was not sealed tightly and still let through a bit of my strawberry smoothie. But at least it was creamy and well blended.
Then I tried the mincer on a medium mincer cutter. I was mincing chicken fillet and it all built up and got blocked and started to come out the side. I changed it to larger one and it worked well but I would prefer a finer mince. Cleaning it was a nightmare.
When I tried to beat the cream that was a real disappointment. The whisk hardly reached the cream and was just touching the surface. I had to dis attach the bowl and lift it up to beat the cram and wad not impressed with the result.
Eventually I took it back to Harvey Norman. They said they have to send it back for check up to ken wood but gave me written notice I will get my money back no matter what the outcome is. Yet to receive it in a few days. Impressive, a lot of functions, great smoothies Flimsy plastic speed dials, whisk not reaching the bowl, not mixing well, not mincing well, tidious to clean
Fantastic mixer – After looking at the mixers on the market this one is the best for the price and durability. Should last as long as the old one being retired. Not sure why someone would beat eggs for 40mins..... any machine would warm up under those conditions?????? Best advice is to try this unit, you won't be disappointed. Robust. Nothing.
Why did I wait so long to get this mixer? Its great – This is the first stand mixer I have owned and I did lots of research before choosing the Kenwood. I am glad I bought the right one too. It's wonderful! well worth buying the bigger motor and bowl. No splashes. No mess. Easy to use. Easy cleaned. Not really noisy. Lots of affordable attachments. Multiple uses. I have only made cakes and biscuits… Read more · 1
so far as I only got it after Christmas. It mixes right to the bottom of the bowl which is handy. I can see this one lasting for decades. Well made and sturdy. Has a modern stainless steel look too. Its size and quality.
Not as good as the old one (40 years old) – I started beating my Pavlova 6 egg whites this new mixmaster started cooking the mixture it got so hot after 15 minuts. I could beat a 10 egg mixture for 40 minutes in the 40 year old mixer. the same has happened to my sponge cake mixture, i feel it is something simple but what , I have read the manual and it does not say anything about… Read more
this problem.
I am an experience cook and need to resolve this problem as it is so dissapointing .
the beaters and the bit that joins the beaters to the machine is red hot as with the whole machine
Please help.
cooks the cake and Pav mixture after 15 minuts of beating it get really hot.
You can't beat it for the money – This machine does what they say it does and does it perfectly. Powerful motor and we have found that it doesn't struggle with anything. When we compared it with other brands we wondered why it was a fair bit cheaper and still don't know but hey - who cares when you get a powerful machine that does everything perfectly. we have been using this… Read more · 2
machine for 6 months now and to date hasn't let us down once. One thing I particularly like was the fact you can adjust all the beaters to match your own machine so that the clearance from the bottom of the beaters is correct to the bowl, this way you can fine tune your machine from original factory settings and it's so simple. Best investment ever as an aid to cooking. Exceptional value for money, powerful, easy to clean --- Just Great.

Know better, choose better.
Does the job with power to spare – had tried two domestic mixers previously neither had the power to properly mix the dough for one standard loaf. bad experience with a sunbeam cafe series which left ingredients improperly mixed in lower part of bowl. the kenwood manages the dough perfectly. in the mixing of varied ingredients eg a fruit cake - it achieves a good uniform… Read more
distribution of the mix.
the meat grinder ( mincer) attachment is excellent as is the liquidiser.
the machine runs without excessive heat is relatively quiet and easy to clean. Reliable, powerful -excellent range of accessories included in price. Good size bowl
Where have you been? – I had a mixer, and, with my Christmas Cake programme, about 45 cakes last ear, 55 this year, I found the bowl on my old mixer too small. So, I bought (at great expense) a larger bowl. Still too small, flour all over the bench, even with a Pouring Cover. Mixer slowed down badly on mixing Shortbread, almost groaned. Walked into "Good Guys",… Read more · 3
Hectorville. Kenwood KMM770........6.7 litre bowl and a Mincer and Blender attachment thrown in, on Special........asked for the Big Deal and Haggled like fury. Winner!
It is like having a Ferrari in the garage instead of a Ford.
Big bowl, plenty of speed selections, beaters for everything, except concrete. A full 1200 watts of grunt, a dough hook that mixes and blends, a whisk that scares the daylights out of egg whites and a K beater that makes my cake making very much easier.
Only one problem, Mr. Kenwood............no handle on the bowl. I can wear that, it is like having to light my Bar-be-que with a match!
Toss in the Blender and the Mincer/Sausage Maker for the one price, and this is about $400 in front of my old blender for the same money! Everything! No handle on the Bowl
