I was scammed and paid $2,433. Single female and home alone so I was scared to not pay. I have lodged my VCAT application but after 10 months I have heard nothing despite emailing and calling vcat. Now I can't find a number to try and get my money directly from KEYALIKE. Does anyone have a number for them? The mobile 0472-694539 just goes to a message saying it's not accepting incoming calls. This has made me so depressed and very angry.

WARNING WARNING WARNING - ZERO STARS. This company just ruined a holiday. $900NZ for a callout. took them 20 mins to get there, opened the door in 5 mins with no damage and no need to change the lock. SCAM SCAM SCAM BEWARE! This company is currently being investigated by ASIC and we have reported them to Consumer Affairs. Honestly would give 0 star if I could. Refuse to give firm prices and insisting to come to address even when I said not to unless they give me a quote. Their prices are fluctuate prices (especially when you present market quotation and claim they are expensive then they reduced their price like fish market) but still above market rate. Prior to… Read more

agree to any works done, they try to claim even if I don't accept their price and went with a lower one they will do the same job as what they are about to preform. DO NOT trust them because they cannot even produce a license to proof that they are legally allowed to be locksmith in Victoria. They also refuse to produce proof of public liability insurance. The guy claimed that my locks are "commercial" lock so what they can only do is replace the whole lock which I absolutely refuse so they said they can only dill holes to pick it. These guys took 1.5hour job for apartment unlock which should only take 10 minutes for licenced profession because apartment unlock only require a hooking tool to latch on the door handle to unlock instead of drilling for 1.5 hour.

I found another licensed locksmith (and he came with the door hook thingy). Upon further investigation they found out Keyalike/ 247 Melbourne locksmith broke my door mechanism to a point that does not allow the dead bolt to retract back and cost me another $450 to replace that. This experience clearly demonstrates how lack of skills (especially apartment registered key locks) and judgement for them being the so called "locksmith".

Pro- they are absolut king in deflecting and gas lighting you, if you want to practice your debating skills and don't mind paying exorbitant prices then feel free to contact them. Otherwise stay clear as they will just cause damages to your property.

247 Keymate Sydney said it would be 550 to replace a broken handle and lock with a new one or 750 to replace my exact broken lock. I told them I could get a whole new door for that price. Went to Bunnings and got new lock and handle for $60.

despite me following the instructions from the guy who refused to leave my house before I paid). When I got another rude call about payment, he TOLD me I must provide a receipt to him. I've sent the money and blocked the guy. The next day he started calling me - about 5x per hour - until I called police. The guy has since didn't call, but then I got multiple calls from the office chasing the payment. I called back saying that the payment was made a month ago so they should check their accounts - apparently, they have too many payments to check so unless I provide a receipt they will send debt collectors.the office lady said that it's my fault so I guess I am waiting for the call from debt collectors DESPITE PAYING 5X THE PRICE THAN INITIALLY QUOTED A MONTH AGO.

my next step is reporting these guys to ACCC.

Scam artists. DO NOT USE. DO NOT USE! I made the mistake of googling a locksmith and upon seeing the same $29 fee and 15min arrival time, opted for this scam company. At no point on the phone call with their operator or locksmith was a quote provided. It was only when the locksmith opened the lock that it would be $937. Days later i walked past an actual locksmith with an invoice from the scam company. I raised a charge back on my Credit Card and got all it back

AGGRESSIVE, SCAMMERS, FRAUDULENT Keyalike aka 247 Locksmith Melbourne (and a number of other names after further research) My tenant called them for late night assistance as the key was stuck in the lock of the front door (only accessible entrance). They charged her $2267. My property manager asked his usual locksmiths what they would charge,… Read more

as he hadn't seen anything this astounding in his 15 years in the industry. They quoted $855 (or $370 if he could extract the key) and the absolute highest they could possibly charge was $1279 with every single time grace and full retail on everything.

24/7 Locksmith Melbourne scammed her as the lock did not need to be taken apart. They actually drilled open the cylinder which destroyed the lock, and charged her $587 to do this!

They charged her $799 for the new lock. The other locksmith confirmed that this lock is actually $140 from Bunnings and standard resell for locksmiths would be around $250.

The call out fee on their website is $29 but they also charged $299 +GST for urgent service. She was not informed about this cost beforehand.

He intimidated my tenant, asking her intrusive questions about living alone and peering into the front windows before literally towering over her and would not leave with out payment. They also bullied her, telling her to just pay as her landlord legally has to reimburse the costs to her (which I have no doubt why they charged her even more than some of the other complaints here).

For clarity against the misleading information they have on their website, the cost breakdown was: Unlock 6 pin cylinder $587.00 heavy duty fee $287.00 urgent of service+ after hours $299.00 new mechanism + cylinder $799.00 Call Out Fee $29.00 Card Fee $60.03 Sub Total $2061.03 GST $206.10 Credit Card Fee $0.00 Total $2267.13

I have raised a complaint with Consumer Affairs Victoria and can only hope that adding our experience to this will stop others from engaging the services of 247 Locksmith Melbourne / Keyalike Services Pty Ltd.

Locksmith - unscrupulous business practices – The following account with a locksmith was contacted via a Google search for Locksmiths nearby by my partner. The website advertised a $29 call out fee. The person who attended would not give their name, show identification, or any form of credentials. The service required was to open a lock to which appeared loose and was not unlocking using… Read more

the key. The person came in and when questioned about the cost, reeled off numbers in a mumbled and foreign accent that was difficult to understand. When I questioned to clarify what they said. They said ’585 and 35 call out’. At this point I felt like it was a scam however I did want to contradict my partner who initiated the call out.

The person opened the basic door handle house lock using basic locksmith hand tools and then offered to fit another to another one for free. My partner accepted. The person acting as a locksmith then provided an invoice displaying multiple fees not mentioned or agreed to. As listed below. 1 Open lock $589 1 Emergency service fee $350 1 Using heavy tools $799 1 Weekend fee $350 Call out $35 Plus GST 1 new lock + new locking system, installation and adjustments $ Free

The person expected full payment via a wireless EFTPOS machine before leaving. Total cost was not displayed on invoice and included gst $2335.30

When the fees on the invoice were questioned the person became threatening and demanded payment. The discussion continued for around 1 hour. I disputed the fees and particularly the ‘using heaving tools’ fee. The person became more aggressive and said ‘ you’re really riling me’. I explained that I needed more information and would happily speak with his boss or someone from the company. This incited more threatening behaviour. The person said that noone was available until Monday, it was saturday morning about 11am. I said I would call the company on Monday, discuss and pay the invoice directly to them. This incited more threatening behaviour. At this point I called the police and they said they would send a unit to assist. When the person realised I was speaking to a police officer the person appeared to be leaving. I told the police it was ok and not to come. The person did not leave and continued to demand full payment and then wanted to negotiate halving the amounts on the invoice. At this point my partner and I were feeling very upset and threatened. My partner agreed to pay $850. The person left.

I believe this was a scam and when I looked the ABN I observed that the company is operating under many business names and many recently registered. Another review I read about this company suggested they change their business name regularly to avoid poor reviews and continue to lure unsuspecting people to their unscrupulous business practices.
