Caught on fire

My son purchased one of these just before xmas
A few nights ago I could smell something like plastic burning
The motor of the fan was on fire
Luckily I was awake and was able to turn the power or and immediately take it outside
I will be discussing this with Kmart Show details

Was great....until it wasn't!

Looks stylish and exactly what I wanted - I hate turning on the ducted air-con to cool the house, when we're only using one room/space. The fan's high speed worked really well, it was relatively quiet and I loved the tilting function to direct air. But after just a couple of uses, it stopped dead and completely died! Plugged it in to a few other power outlets in the house to make sure it wasn't an electricity fault, but no. Nada. I think I have still have the receipt somewhere, but it's a really PITA to sift through paperwork to find it and drive to Kmart and return it. Shame, it was a really great product initially, but sadly Anko quality really seems to have gone downhill lately :( Show details

Brilliant Fan, well worth it

Had this fan running non-stop for 2 weeks and it hasn't missed a beat. It's surprisingly pretty quiet for the size and being a metal fan. The air it pushes out on the highest setting is great, way better than alot of other fans i've had.
The fan does tilt up/down but doesn't have oscillate function, however does appear to have a wide spread Show details ·  1

Great Fan

High velocity, it really is. It cools and it's not noisy like other fans. Best buy from Kmart. Show details ·  1

This fan will blow you away!

I'm always confident of quality/value whenever I buy from Kmart, so the reviews I read about this fan before purchasing reassured me I wouldn't be disappointed. Firstly, an amazing price for the sturdy quality of the fan that rivals any of the big name brands. Secondly, excellent control panel and acceptable level of noise. Thirdly, HIGH VELOCITY is an understatement. The lowest setting creates a veritable vortex that I find more than ample; the two higher settings are just crazy, the way it effortlessly chops through the hot air. Absolutely love this fan and can't be without it to create a wind tunnel on a hot day. Show details ·  1

Excellent

Purchased Dimplex high velocity fan used it approx 8 hours before it died & I binned it! Bought this Kmart fan as a replacement months ago & have been so happy with it! It’s totally reliable hasn’t let me down doesn’t get hot after it’s been on all night! Absolutely amazing & cheaper than Dimplex! I totally recommend this fan!!! Show details

Industrial Fan for a low price

I bought one of these 4 years ago and found it to be engineered like an industrial fan. Go to Bunnings and they are selling similar chrome fans for twice the price. Incredibly powerful on high speed. Noise on the highest setting is there but it is a constant white noise so I found it great at night as a sleep aid as it cancels out external noises. Noise not really an issue during the day. Cools down a bedroom very effectively even on stinking hot nights. This is my second one as the one I bought 4 years ago which was still working great got destroyed in floods earlier this year. Price had gone up just $4 over that time so no hesitation getting another one and no hesitation recommending it. Show details ·  1

Quality product

The fan is great... The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the side nuts to tighten and adjust should be a butterfly nuts instead of a regular nut. I picked some up from bunnings for cheap and now its ace

I ended up buying 3 last summer... I also picked up one of the pedestal versions which is also neat. Sorry i couldn't find my receipt to make this one verified Show details

Great Fan

Thank you to those who reviewed the Kmart High Velocity Chrome Fan. After reading your reviews I went out and bought one during a few 40 C heat days Perth was having recently. I love it! More powerful fan than the Mitsubishi pedestal fans I own. I don't find the fan particularly noisy and sleep with it in the bedroom. Show details

6 years and still going strong

Since I have bought this, this fan has literally been on from 5pm to 6am Monday to Friday and all day weekends. Even in winter. Yes I am one of those people! I bought it because I wasn't happy with the speed of the other fans and I didn't live in a place with a/c. Whilst I live in a place with a/c, I still use the fan. I personally don't find it noisey, but my new place is surrounded by lots of party people and it really drowns out that sound and can sleep uninterrupted. I am just amazed that I bought this fan at Kmart because it was $30 cheaper than Bunnings and it is still going strong. Only issue is cleaning it isn't as easy. But definitely 5 stars!

40cm Chrome Pedestal Fan -Excellent for the price

These are excellent Value for around $50 dollars. I used to buy the 11. dollar ones every year till i got sick of tripping over those feet. The chrome pedestal fan has a round flat base - very stable, it quite powerful. Putting it on low is like high on the cheaper fans but putting it on three it does become noisy and it blows papers all over the room. Great for the recent heat wave

December 26th 25018 Update: Good Looking Fan

Good looking fan and really circulates the air in the room. I have got two but one runs 24 hours a day and the other one ran for as long but when we turned it off it would not start spinning again. Maybe the brushes in the motor have collapsed but we will keep it for spares.

A must for summer nights

Just the usual average budget fan, noise is acceptable but if you're a light sleeper forget it.

Average kmart build quality, but you get what you pay for.

Would reccommend this fan for deep sleepers or for workshops.

Had abit of trouble piecing it together but for the price you cant complain

a fan of fans

I'm a big fan of fans as they keep me cool in the these hot Sydney nights. Also the sound can be quote relaxing to the point where I struggle to sleep without it. Having said that when I put the speed up on extra hot nights it can be a bit noisy

Questions & Answers

I like the compact look and of course, price, of this fan. But its legs look thin. Would they sit firmly on a table without wobbling?
Is electricity consumption low as in normal pedestal fans?
Lastly, if we have to assemble it out of a box, is that simple to do?
Thanks!

Can the frobt grille be unscrewed for washing ?

Patrick

Mine can. It's like normal fans with the clips and that one tiny nut and bolt at the bottom. Don't lose it or it will make a noise. You can also remove the feet easy with a shifting spanner

Features:

  • Switch between 3 speed settings, using the manually operated buttons safely located at the back of the fan
  • A tilt-adjustable head allows you to angle the fan at the optimum angle, to enjoy the benefits of airflow regardless of your position in the room
  • Solid build quality is afforded by aluminium blades and a metal construction
  • A radial grill guard provides a barrier between blades and fingers, however it's advisable to always supervise children or pets around any fans where there's a blade element even partially exposed

Points of praise for the Kmart High Velocity Chrome Fan:

  • Reviewers found this little Kmart fan surprisingly powerful, with a number of reviewers stating that they left it on pretty much round the clock due to its effective performance
  • The value for money for this Kmart fan was highly appreciated, especially when compared to the performance of other, less powerful, standalone fans that were also more expensive
  • Some reviewers found this Kmart High Velocity fan a little too noisy to have running in the background while they slept, while others actually appreciated the white noise the fan provided, and found it relaxing.
