Kmart High Velocity Chrome Fan

model ys16f the motor just caught on fire while my daughter was exercising with headphones on in the room. She had only switched it on ten mins earlier. Smelt the smoke and saw flames coming from the front of it. Unplugged it. 2 years old and always worked well. She often sleeps with the fan on in summer, so glad we weren't asleep!

power outlets in the house to make sure it wasn't an electricity fault, but no. Nada. I think I have still have the receipt somewhere, but it's a really PITA to sift through paperwork to find it and drive to Kmart and return it. Shame, it was a really great product initially, but sadly Anko quality really seems to have gone downhill lately :(

Brilliant Fan, well worth it – Had this fan running non-stop for 2 weeks and it hasn't missed a beat. It's surprisingly pretty quiet for the size and being a metal fan. is an understatement. The lowest setting creates a veritable vortex that I find more than ample; the two higher settings are just crazy, the way it effortlessly chops through the hot air. Absolutely love this fan and can't be without it to create a wind tunnel on a hot day.

cool but not frozen – So this was a decent purchase. The fan itself is pretty solid, could potentially throw it to the ground and would still work. Not very powerful – Very low power fan for the price. It is quiet but that could be due to the lack of airflow. It doesn't do much to cool a room or even circulate air. Lovely fan – the fan makes quite a bit of noise but is able to circulate a decent amount of air throughout the room quickly. At the highest setting it is incredibly loud so for those with sensitive ears I would recommend stick to setting below maximum. Does the job it is meant for.  Show details

Excellent – Purchased Dimplex high velocity fan used it approx 8 hours before it died & I binned it! Bought this Kmart fan as a replacement months ago & have been so happy with it! noises. Noise not really an issue during the day. Cools down a bedroom very effectively even on stinking hot nights. This is my second one as the one I bought 4 years ago which was still working great got destroyed in floods earlier this year. Price had gone up just $4 over that time so no hesitation getting another one and no hesitation recommending it.

Quality product – The fan is great... The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the side nuts to tighten and adjust should be a butterfly nuts instead of a regular nut. I picked some up from bunnings for cheap and now its ace I ended up buying 3 last summer... I also picked up one of the pedestal versions which is also neat. noisey, but my new place is surrounded by lots of party people and it really drowns out that sound and can sleep uninterrupted. I am just amazed that I bought this fan at Kmart because it was $30 cheaper than Bunnings and it is still going strong. Only issue is cleaning it isn't as easy. But definitely 5 stars!

December 26th 25018 Update: Good Looking Fan

Good looking fan and really circulates the air in the room. I have got two but one runs 24 hours a day and the other one ran for as long but when we turned it off it would not start spinning again. Maybe the brushes in the motor have collapsed but we will keep it for spares.

A must for summer nights – Just the usual average budget fan, noise is acceptable but if you're a light sleeper forget it. Average kmart build quality, but you get what you pay for. Would reccommend this fan for deep sleepers or for workshops. Had abit of trouble piecing it together but for the price you cant complain  Show details

Cooler air and higher flow – I purchased one of these after experiencing a friends. The floor fan blows cooler air than any tower or pedestal fan I’ve used before. these fans are noisier than tower and pedestal fans due to their high velocity but for me the benefits far outweigh the little extra noise.

Kmart Buy !!!! – Every summer need to buy new fan. But this time the kmart high velocity chrome fan hopefully will last 3 years minimum or i can expect up to 5 years as the quality is quite good and the price tag is not as high as other famous brands. Comes with Kmart warranty.  Show details

Solid fan but not the best – The fan itself produces pretty strong winds but it obviously does not produce cold winds, which is unfortunate, especially with Melbourne 40 degree weather, but I guess that is a matter of DIY by placing a bucket of ice cold water in front of it. Good for the Summer – The fan is powerful but makes quite a bit of noise unfortunately. I cannot not sleep without ear plugs in when i have this on. The stand on which the fan is placed does tilt all the way up to face the roof but doesn't really tilt down much. It does have more power then your typical fan.  Show details

Good for the price – I needed a fan just to use for hot summer days and it does the job. Although it works well keeping me and my family fairly cool it can be quite loud so if you're looking for a quiet one I would recommend a smaller one. Decent Fan Moves a lot of Air – The fan itself is fine, the cord is long enough so it can be placed appropriately and it moves a decent amount of air around a room. Worked well for a year, then started slowing down – The fan functioned very well for the first year, provided an excellent amount of wind for the size of the fan. really like the chrome look of the fan (would prefer white), but really for the price you can't go wrong. You just need to expect a lot of wind!

A bit loud, but very strong – Just like most others, I found this current summer a little too much, and needed a new cheap fan. Finally settled on this one from Kmart as it was only 50$, and took up a small amount of space. Very surprised by it's speed and power. No rattling noise that usually comes with other powerful fans, so can recommend this for nights and sleep even though it's loud enough it's not an annoying noise.  Show details
