Being to hard or to soft as reviews are rather mixed. I have tried the first three days on medium-firm (as suggested) and swapped to firm after that. It is soooo comfy. It is the perfect firmness. You still feel the softness of the mattress without the deep sinking. And incredible mix of support and comfort. I like the materials used too. It doesn’t seem like it’s been made cheaply. I read people complaining about the smell but it wasn’t that bad and only lasted for few hours. The set up is easy but you do need some space. The mattress needs to expand fully before the topper gets out on. I wanted to topper to have time to expand at the same time and my bedroom is small, but I made it work. The topper was tricky to get into position because of the weight. But I folded it up and it worked.

I would 100% recommend the mattress. But be mindful of the delivery time. Items did a little trip across to another state before coming back and being delivered. Nobody could explain why that happened. But it all got here ok and now I am sleeping in my much appreciated new bed. Thanks Koala.

packaging would make this a 10. - there is a little bit of movement in the base as it settles together but no sharp edges and easy to manouever 10/10 -The wood of the base had a slight humid smell but dissipated after second day 7/10. - No new mattress plastic or foam smell 10/10 -Hassle free delivery and full transparency on times with live gps tracking. 10/10 -The was a chance I could get a voucher for this review, however this is legitimately how I feel about this mattress and would have written this review regardless, plus it came with two plush koalas!! 11/10 After a few nights on this mattress my back felt better than it has in a long time. And my sleep quality has vastly improved, I highly recommend this mattress. My overall rating as a person who has been sleeping nearly every day for 30 years is 9.5/10

had to buy a new mattress. And so I did . And true to other testimonials I received it that very same day. I am so glad I took the leap of faith as I get a way more comfortable sleep with way less lower back pain (I've had the mattress only 2 weeks so far). After trying both sides, I have now settled on the firm side of the mattress and it's super comfy for me. I was worried it might get too hot at night, but it does not. I also recommend getting the pillow too... It's so nice to sleep on (only downside is the plastic smell that sticks around for a while, but it's not a huge bother). As a side tip, don't throw out the pillow box... you'll get a lovely musical surprise. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and am looking to invest in the bed frame next. 2024 EDIT... 18 months on, still no complaints and still find it very comfy. No sore back.

What a mattress! – We upgraded to the Calm As from our original Koala mattress that was reaching the end of its life. We honestly couldn’t be happier with our decision. It’s easily the most comfortable mattress we’ve ever slept on, firm but not too firm yet still soft as a cloud! We are both sleeping deeper and waking more rested than we have felt before. Not too firm not too soft – I'm so happy with this mattress. My partner moves around all night but with no springs, I don't feel her move about at all. I tried the medium side but for me, a 6'4 90kg guy, it that too soft but I just easily unzipped and flipped the top cover to the firm side and it's perfect. Its a great feature so you can get the right softness for you. I wake up with no back pain now and am getting better quality sleep. Show details

Jury still out – The first night I slept on this mattress I wanted to cry, I think I did! It was like sleeping on concrete. But you can turn the topper over and it’s softer, a little bit. Have never really been happy with this mattress – Ever since I got this mattress about a year ago I've never really had a solid sleep on it. I've tried using both sides of the mattress but nothing seems to work. I also wake up a lot during the night as I can't get comfortable and I feel sore. Probably wouldn't use this brand again.

couldn’t wait to get out of there. Second and worse, the topper is meant to zip onto the base mattress, however the zip keeps pulling apart as it is missing some teeth on the topper. Have followed up customer service who emailed and were supposed to send a link, but failed to include it, so now I am chasing them again.

I love my new mattress – I decided to upgrade my mattress and it has really improved my sleep so much! The mattress itself is pretty firm so probably not for everyone, but I have found that I’ve gotten used to it really quickly and now love it. Super comfy and seamless delivery – We needed a good firm mattress in a short time frame. Koala could do all that. From maybe to a good choice – Straight forward on purchase and delivery was lightening fast, next day. I wish all things in Oz where delivered this quickly. Both the wife and myself had question marks about comfort for the first few day but after that it was just like we had not changed and could not tell if we had changed. Sleeping on a cloud! – I got this with the Paddington bed frame from Koala a few weeks ago and I have never slept better. It is so comfortable.
