We just got our new koala queen sofa bed, and had 2 VERY uncomfortable night sleep on it. There is a height difference between the top section of the mattress and the bottom two, so there is a very painful ridge in the spine that we simply could not find a way around. It’s so bad I don’t know how anyone can sleep on it. We readjusted everything but seems that due to the feet on the base of the sofa, it’s unavoidable. Have we missed something? Any tips? I would consider returning the couch if there is no improvement / solution.

How to you put sheets on the koala sofa bed
Hey Mel, You should be able to pop a mattress protector & a fitted sheet onto the mattress/seat cushion part of the Koala Sofa Bed when it has been extended like a mattress. You can see how it converts on our Koala Sofa Bed page, under "Assembly Instructions" on the right hand side. There is a video of how it folds out so you can see how you'd be able to tuck a mattress protector & fitted sheet in when it has been laid out.

Hi there, I currently have the Cushy queen sofa bed, and it came with a separate matress topper that folds up with a strap around it. Is this the same topper that I have read people had previously received if that sofa itself wasn'y comfortable enough? Secondly, I'm thinking about getting the matching ottoman to go with my Cushy, but would first like to know; will the folded up matress topper fit inside the storage area of the ottoman? I am short on space and can't spare enough room for both the ottoman and the folded up matress topper separately, but if the topper fits nicely inside the ottoman it would work well.

Great questions as well :) No, we do have another Topper that we could send out to you if you feel like you need an extra layer of comfort for your Cushy Sofa Bed when you're using it as a mattress. We have Soft & Firm extra Topper options so if you do need one of those, you're welcome to let us know on this thread or on a separate email to our Customer Care squad, which one you believe would make your mattress more comfortable for you & we can arrange to have one sent out to you.
We totally understand what you're saying about being short on space & wanting to store your spare Topper into your Ottoman, but the storage space inside the Cushy Sofa Bed Ottoman is a little slim for the size of the Topper. However, if you have access to storage bags that allow you to vacuum out the air, then seal it up, that would work brilliantly!

Does anyone have a pic of the mattress topper that I’ve read about? We are looking at this particular sofa bed as a space saver so if the topper is going to be a space taker, it won’t work for us? Any pics would be helpful. Thank you

The topper is a few cm thick and comes with a handy strap to make folding it up a storing it easier, and it doesn't take up too much space once it's folded. You could always pop it on a mattress for a bit of extra comfort if you don't have enough space to tuck it away!

Needing some tips on how to make the couch a bit comfier in couch mode. It tends to tilt forward and feels like the seat isn’t deep enough. Are we doing something wrong? Cheers!
Oooooo. I use the thinner side arm pillows behind my back & pop the thick pillows in the back groove against the wall. This get my posterior further back and also create a thick head rest for those big stretches!! With foot stools it can also help. I’m using my old couch ones and they work beautifully. It does settle if you use it everyday though with or without foot stools. Hope that helps!!

We've found that it can help to leave about a hands-width gap between the seat cushion and the back rest, so just remove the seat cushion and pop it back in place leaving about a 5-10cm gap. This should help balance the sofa a little more and stop the feeling of it slipping forward!

Is the mattress topper supposed to stay on the sofa even when folded up into a sofa ? Or should it be stored in the ottoman I also bought?
G'day Koa, It's entirely up to you where you'd like to store it! You can keep it on the sofa if you like, but the topper might get a little squashed and not provide the extra comfort it was intended for!
You should have received a handy strap in the box so you can roll the topper up and keep it together for easy-peasy storage, if you decide to pop it in a cupboard or in your ottoman :)

Hi, Just purchased a 2.5 seater Cushy Sofa and Ottoman. Question 1 : Has anyone been able to buy a full cover for the Sofa bed? I've looked on Amazon and one looks great BUT its depth is only up to 89cm and the cushy sofa is 99cm. Really keen to find a cover as we have a cat. Question 2 : Is there a reason why the Ottoman is higher than the sofa ? (seems odd)

We’ve had a chat with the superstars in our Product Team (they’re the experts on these things, you see!), and it turns out this is a new one - we haven’t actually had to recommend an additional cover to go over the top of any of our Sofas before. If the measurements on the one that you spotted on Amazon don’t quite match, we’d suggest having one custom made. Just keep in mind that a custom made cover may affect your Koala warranty if it ends up damaging the Sofa in any way, so we’d suggest doing some pretty thorough research!
The Cushy Sofa Bed height is spot on 49cm and the matching Ottoman should sit at around 45cm - so a very complimentary, comfy height to rest your feet on! Considering the Cushy Sofa seat cushion is made up of your mattress, we reckon it may still need a bit more time to fully decompress to give you all the comfort it’s designed to.

From the promotional photos, it looks like the mattress is directly on the ground when in bed mode. Am I mistaken? Is it likely to be difficult for an older person to get into?
It is directly on the ground so yes could potentially be difficult if someone has mobility issues. However it means no uncomfortable steel bars pressing into your back or hips all night.

I've had my cushy sofa bed for just over 6 months now but a few months ago there was a mild food spill that we tried to clean off but it has resulted in a rather large water mark being left right in the middle where it's the first thing you see before you sit down. I'm just wondering is there any chance that unzipping the seat cover and putting it in the washing machine would work to remove the stain? please help!
G'day Phin, That's a bummer, stains aren't what we want on your beautiful sofa! We don't recommend unzipping the cover and throwing it in the machine - it could damage the fabric and be a little tricky to get back on! You did the right thing by trying to remove the stain straight away, but sometimes using excess water can result in a water mark which isn't ideal.

I have a one year old cushy sofa bed, and only recently have found it has developed a height difference between the bottom section which is sitting higher (section near backrest) to the two folded out sections when in bed-formation. It is incredible uncomfortable right in the middle of the spine ! There are no rugs underneath so I can’t pinpoint why this happens. Any advice on how to fix would be appreciated!

My year-old cushy sofa bed when folded out is not level, which has just started happening and I can’t seem to pinpoint what the issue is or how to fix. When folded out, the seat section of the mattress nearest the backrest (or bottom of the three cushions when stacked) is higher than the bottom two folded out sections so you end up with a very uncomfortable height difference right in the middle of the spine when you lie down. Is there any fix for this issue? (No rugs or anything to change the levels underneath!) Please advise :)

What is the pilling situation with the cushy couch? It looks like it could easily pill like flanelette?
G'day Brie, Great question - thanks for asking! Although the material might look a bit like flannelette, it's actually a Jacquard weave which is much softer! This material isn't prone to pilling, but a little bit can occur occasionally and is considered normal wear and tear - just the signs of a much loved and well used sofa!
To minimise the chance of pilling, we recommend giving the sofa a vacuum once a week or so to keep it in tip-top shape, but if you do come across any it can easily be removed with a pilling tool :)

I really love the look of the sofa bed but even though I live alone and only weigh 61kgs- the couch started creaking when sitting on it only a few days in. I’ve finally used it as a bed as well- and found that it is creaking when we move? Would really love to fix this as it sounds as if it’s a cheap couch whenever I sit or sleep on it now and it’s very off putting. I also just received the office chair from koala and am very disappointed to find that I can’t sit in it without it creaking at every movement? Again, I’m only 61kgs and under average height. Am I setting things up wrong or something?

Hi guys. I spoke to you guys regarding the chair and the response was very helpful and a new chair promptly organised. Unfortunately, this one has the same issue a week later. Really disappointed as I love the chair itself, it’s just not suitable for somebody needing a quiet environment, I don’t think. Will contact Koala again today to sort a refund, which sucks because the design and comfort of the chair is great!

G'day Mon, Sorry to hear you're finding your matty a little hot during the warmer months :( We've designed our mattresses to keep you cool as a cucumber while you're sleeping, but we know everyone's different. To get the most out of your mattress, we recommend using low thread count sheets made from a natural fibre (like eucalyptus or bamboo), and just make sure your bed base is well ventilated to allow air to flow through the mattress.
While we've stuffed all the goodness we can into our sofa beds to keep you comfy when you're snoozing or lounging, unfortunately they don't come with the same cooling technologies we use in our mattresses (COOLMAX or Sensapole, depending on your mattress).

Hey Alvin! The dimensions of the backrest cushions depend on the size of the sofa you fancy, but here they are: Single: W: 1000mm x D:100mm x H:520mm Double: W: 730mm x D: 100mm x H: 520mm Queen: W: 805mm x D: 100mm x H: 520mm
The dimensions of the arm rest cushions are the same for each size sofa: W: 730mm x D: 100mm x H: 450mm

Is there any way to place a sheet over the mattress when it's extended into bed form? If it's attached to the couch frame, I'm not sure how you'd fit a sheet on it for sleeping on?
