mattress on the ground for a few nights - no dip, and no back pain at all. It's also fine in the centre of the bed where the beam is (but I can't sleep in the middle of the bed when I have a partner!) The issue is the cheap, thin plywood they use for the slats - arguably the most important part of making a decent bed base! So, if you're 80kg or over, think twice. After a year, it will probably cause problems for you. Lesson learned - hardwood timber only - I'm off to buy a Quokka, and I hope others won't make the same mistake I did.

Streamlined and classy – I opted for the cliff dive bed head fabric and it’s a lovely look and texture. I also love the padded rim around the edge. It feels very sturdy and I love that it doesn’t have thin slats to hold the mattress, instead they are more solid pieces of timber and much wider. Sits at a very nice height off the ground. Squeaky!!!! – Was a fantastic bed frame at the start then started to develop a squeak, now the squeaking is so loud it wakes you in your sleep. I have used bees wax and even wrapped cloth around the lugs to prevent any rubbing and it still squeaks. plates have broken. I use to swear by koala products as they used to be built with such high quality but unfortunately not anymore and there customer support was amazing, but now they really did not even want to acknowledge the problem or help us fix it. Very disappointing from a brand I used to love and support. Customer support told me that "beds just squeak over time". Even cheap beds don't squeak after a year.

Great practical bedroom furniture with amazing comfort and support – Delighted with our Paddington base. Does not creak like our old base-great support and excellent sleeping. I absolutely LOVE the hidden shelf behind the bed head. I sleep with a CPAP Machine and hand splints and the shelf is perfect for hiding these from views during the daytime! pillows and cushions get stored in the bed head nook instead of on the floor. Genius design! Very happy with our purchase. Seemed expensive at the time but great investment for comfort and elegant design.
