I don't know much about such matters but it could be relevant that it runs android 4.2.

Hi Adam, Thank you for your question. Just to confirm, the model number KALED42UHDZA is for a model we began selling in 2014 – currently, we don't stock a 42" 4K TV but we are hoping to have this in our range again shortly.

The model KALED42UHDZA doesn't support HDCP 2.2, unfortunately, as that standard requires HDMI 2.0 while this model has HDMI 1.4.

As advised by Tony, you can get in touch with us at the following link for technical and other inquires: external link

TV's display has stopped working a day before the AFL Grand Final. I have tried resetting the TV according to Kogan's instructions but to no effect. I can hear audio but get no video irrespective of the source input. I couldn't find firmware for this model on Kogan's website. Any solutions or have I simply bought a dud?

I did contact Kogan support who advised me to download firmware and update via the instructions on the screen. As you can imagine, this is a challenge when the problem is that the screen doesn't work. Hoping to receive some help that actually helps.

Can you add external speakers to this TV seperately not via an amplifier because the sound on this TV is very poor? Very dissatisfied. Thank you David Rolfe

Kogan
Kogan   DM

Hi Debbie, Thanks for your question! Sorry to hear that you've not been happy with the TV speakers. You can definitely use external speakers with the unit, however, they will need to be powered speakers such as a pair of computer speakers. The TV will not be able to amplify passive speakers.

If you have any further questions about this at all, please don't hesitate to contact our team on 1300 304 292 or at the following link:

I bought this TV when I was in Australia and I moved back to my home country (Jordan).

The TV was packed by professionals (Allied Pickfords) and when received there was no sign of physical damage what so ever.

When powering on the TV, the Backlight comes on but nothing on the display, no OSD nothing, it plays Audio and the remote works but nothing on the display.

While this product is under warranty (bought it April 2015), I am outside Australia now, any hint of how to fix it would or what part need to be replaced would be very much appreciated, if I can get the firmware as well in order to do a reset (hoping) that this will fix it, that would be great.

Thanks!

This is what they sent me. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing screen issues with your Kogan 42" Agora 4K Smart LED TV (Ultra HD), however reinstalling its firmware should rectify this. Please right-click on the file link below and select 'Save link as...' or 'Save target as...'

external link

To successfully reinstall your TV's firmware, please follow these steps:

After downloading the above firmware, copy the .bin file to an empty USB memory stick.

Please ensure this USB is less than 32GB in size and is correctly formatted as 'FAT32' on Windows, or 'MS-DOS (FAT)' on Mac.

Insert the USB stick into the USB1 port.

Turn the TV off using the master power switch (on the right-hand side of the TV if you are facing the screen).

While the TV is off, repeatedly press the 'VOL +' button on the remote and turn the TV on using the master power switch.

Continue pressing the 'VOL +' button repeatedly until the blue screen appears and the firmware begins installing.

The initial blue screen will say 'Search USB Storage' and will then be followed by 'Upgrade Software Do Not Turn Off'. A progress bar will appear under the text.

Once this is completed, the TV will power itself off and on again.

After rescanning the channels, your TV should be functioning normally again.

If the issue continues or if you have any further questions, please let me know.

Since I am outside Australia there was no way I could send this TV back into Kogan. I've disassembled the TV myself (computer engineer here), and I got half the TV to work, the LCD got two connectors to the display unit, disconnecting left one got the right half of the TV to work, unfortunately, vice versa does not work, which means the either the LCD circuitry has some kind of a short, or there isn't enough power to feed it.

I ended up making the TV a back light unit, never ever buy Kogan.

Is there a firmware update to add support for x265/HEVC playback? The current version won't play these files.

Is there a more recent software update for the 55" 4k TV? The Android software seems to run slower and slower over time and can only be temporary fixed by re-installing the firmware. The current versions I have are Android v4.2.1 and TV v1.0.38.

Kogan
Kogan   DM

Hi brwilliams, Thanks for your question. We don't currently have any Android OS updates available, we do however have the TV's original firmware, which we can send you. This will fix any software or system related issues with the TV. You can also try doing a factory reset through the Smart TV settings, this also helps clear up any little bugs or issues that may be causing the issues.

You can contact our Support centre here and we will provide you with the firmware: external link .
