Really poor wet weather performance - 2012 Toyota Corolla (ZRE152R) – If you are looking at the Kumho Solus KH17 for your Toyota Corolla. Stay well away or do not drive in any wet weather conditions. These tyres are really bad in the wet & do not get any traction at all. I did an entire set of 4 tyres & the performance was scary. The understeer the car experienced in the wet at slow speeds was really something with… Read more
nearly hitting cutters or other vehicles often. The understeer was so bad I changed the two front tyres back to the original tyres (Dunlop SP Sport 1) a month after I purchased & fitted them.
Silent but don't Last long – Kumho Solus tyres came standard on our new 2015 Jeep . Super silent love them for that . Only get 35,000 km out of a set though. Have had no handling issues. Have done 70,000 km now and am due a 3rd set I am in 2 minds on what to do. Mainly highway driving but do tow a caravan occasionally. Show details

Back to the Future, with smiles! – OK, my Kia Carnival is over 15 years old. The original tyres back in 2005 were Kumho's Solus KH17's. I had since gone through a set of Goodyear SP Sports, another set of Kumho's and a set of Hankook's. This last set of Hankooks had been disappointing in that I thought the sidewalls were a little soft, yielding an "American Boulevarde" ride, a… Read more
little too soft, with a little more "roll" than what I was used to. Although they didn't require replacing, (under 30K klms),one developed a giant blister on my driver's side front....the most dangerous of positions to have a blister. A blowout could cause a rollover into oncoming traffic. I was so lucky to have noticed the rythmic "thump thump thump" as I drove towards the M2 at Seven Hills...... So, I found an excellent price online, which included fitting, and immediately purchased (yesterday 11th Dec 2020). Tyres are great. Good handling for a largish "7 seater wagon", and good looking with a low 215 65 15 profile. Driving back form filling up before the Christmas rush (price gouge) today, I had to brake harder than regularly, on a downhill run.....tyres, although new, stopped me without squeal nor complaint. I couldn't be happier.....These Kumho's are perfect for my Kia carnival.

2 tyres exploded while driving within 3 days – KUMHOP SOLUS KH17 was put on my Subaru Forester 5 years and 40 000 km ago. With still a decent amount of thread left in them we went for a trip. 1st tyre burst while driving 110 km/h, lucky it was the rear one and I managed to stop safely. I've changed it for the spare. 2 days later while still travelling I noticed an increasing vibration to the… Read more
steering wheel. We checked the front tyres noticing a bulge on one of them. While being in the middle of nowhere we slowly limped to the nearest town. Didn't make it. In about 5 minutes...boom a 2nd tyre gone. I couldn't believe it. See the pictures for evidence. Very strange and very disappointing KUMHO.

Dangerous in wet weather – Right from driving down the road out of the tyre place they felt strange under brakes -it felt like the brakes weren't working as well as they should. I just put it down to new tyres and a different feel. I suppose I got used to it, but I found them to be really bad when braking in the wet. This was a few years ago - so they may have improved -… Read more
and we had a 1997 Toyota Camry, with no ABS. I locked the front wheels under brakes in the wet on a few occasions. Only one was under "emergency" type conditions, the others were normal driving (I am used to having tyres that grip in the wet though), and they just locked up on even a fairly light application. The one occasion that could have been really nasty was driving on a country road; it wasn't raining, but the road was wet / damp. I was sitting on 100kph and going around a slight curve. Suddenly there was a car stopped, waiting to turn onto a driveway that was half way through the curve. I braked fairly heavily, but not panic-braking. My immediate assessment was that I would have to brake fairly heavily, but I had room, it was okay. But the front locked up and slid. As I said, no ABS, so I had to do the same thing manually - lift off the pedal till the tyres regained grip and then get back on the brakes and try to balance the amount of braking and the distance to the car waiting to turn. Luckily I got it slowed enough and the car turned as we got closer, so all was okay. Then after that there were a couple of minor instances where the wheels locked in relatively light braking on wet road. By then I'd had enough! I changed them. I normally ran Michelin, but I think they were unavailable and I got Bridgestone I think. They were MUCH better anyway. On the positive side, they cornered okay in wet or dry; it was just ("just"?) in braking they were bad. And I have heard good reports of the brand in general from other people, so I think it is probably just this model. I would NOT recommend Solus anyway.
Kumho Road Venture MT51 – Just installed a set of 285/75r16 Kumho MT51's on my Landcruiser, I have run Coopers, BFG, Brigestone, Maxxis and Mickey Thompson on past vehicles (All heavy duty 4x4), some of these have severely underperformed and displayed rapid deterioration. To date the Kumho MT51's have been my favourite and are very cost effective. These are sold as a Mixed… Read more
Terrain and they certainly are very quiet. I liked the fact that product testing was done in Australia for our conditions and our vehicles. These are not a small tyre, they are 33.1 inches and fill out the wheel arches nicely on my cruiser, unlike some other brands that are very small for their advertised size. I cannot comment on personal wear just yet, however I will update this review as I put more Km's over various terrain on these tyres.
****(Update 10/06/2018)****
I have done 15000km on these tyres across a range of different terrain now, the tires still look new and tread wear is negligible, although road noise has increased they are very quiet for such an aggressive looking tire.
Beach sand - these tyres air down nicely and at 18psi will create a good footprint and get you through all but the softest beaches.
Gravel roads - these are fantastic on loose / rutted gravel roads and track in a very true direction.
Bitumen - not as good as a road tyre, however very grippy and perform exceptionally well.
Very good job Kumho – I have Hyundai I45 premium ( 2013 ) and Kumho Solus 17 ( 225 - 45 - 18 ) were the standard fitment on the car. At the moment the car has just over 74.000 km on the clock and they are still legal ( only just but hey....), so I can't figure out people complaining about durability . Mind you it is all done mostly on the freeway , but I do like my… Read more
corners , and I do accelerate properly , sharp driving , I am not dragging around ( I am riding sports bikes too , and ride them properly ) . I keep the pressure at 36PSI with regular check ups. In the beginning I tried 40 PSI ,but they started to wear the middle , so I dropped it down to 36PSI. No wear on the edges , alignment was only done when I bought the car and never again . Dry grip was fantastic , you can push as much as you want , they stay planted. It is the front wheel car ( with active suspension being the top of the range ) , and with a bit of a brake trailing into the corner , the front is going where you point it , but if you go stupid the rear will slide out , although that is probably related to H I 45 ( car dealer was properly scared on demo drive ...).In the wet still decent but I never pushed like mad in the wet , so I cant comment. For spirited drive in the wet , no problems , and no aquaplaning on the flooded freeway at 110km/h when most Australians simply stop their car in emergency lane or drag themselves at 30km/h on freeway with hazard lights on..... Regarding the noise , I 45 is producing a bit more noise then our Honda Accord (2013 , current model ) on Michelins but again I think it is the Honda thing......( overall refinement of that car is just unbelievable , and in a league of its own ) . For me , fantastic tyre that fits its purpose and I am probably going to replace them with same or similar for Kumho ( regarding the price , it just makes them even better ). There are tyres that grip better , but they are going to cost me like a first love and will wear out much quicker . No thank you....

Good tyres – Good tyres for affordable prices. Lasted for 8 months even after regular use. Tread lasted for while and safe while driving the car . I recoomed trying this tyres.cheaper than other products Show details
Great mileage – We are about to replace the original tyres on my wife's 2012 Kia Cerato Sli, has 17 inch rims. The tyres have covered approx. 69,000kms so far, which I think is fantastic, especially after reading some of the reviews on here. We will probably go with another set of these based on our experience. This car has done predominantly highway driving… Read more
which would have helped these km figures. Personally I find the tyres a bit noisy, by comparison to my Commodore at least.
Good product – I have recently purchased a pair of tyres and I still need to see how long it will last, so far it seems to be a good product. Soon I'll leave a proper review. Show details

I will NEVER buy Kumho tyres ever again – I've purchased this brand and model tyres twice (in 16" & 17", sets of 4) and I would NEVER buy another Kumho tyre. The tyres were bought new and I was told I would get 40,000+ KMs out of them and in both cases these tyres didn't even get 15,000 KMs out of them, extremely disappointing product and very unhappy customer. Poor tyre life – These tyres were the original factory fitted tyres on my car. Initially performance was reasonable considering they're Kumho's budget tyre. As the tyres wore however, their performance deteriorated dramatically (the slightest amount of rain or dirt on the road causes traction control to kick in (& this is driving conservatively)). At only… Read more
28,000kms & with tyre rotation every annual service, the front tyres have worn out. Will be replacing all four with Michelin Energy XM2.
*Accepable performance when new
*Very short service life
*Poor performance when wet
Cheap but not great mileage – Tyres grip well and the ride is OK. The price was excellent.. got them on a price match from KMART Tyres and Auto. The only issue I have with them is that do not wear well. I am running the correct pressure but the centre of the tyres is wearing out very quickly. Show details

value for money on our Kia Cerato – I have had Khumo tyres in the past anf always had good experiences. I drive defensively and pride my ability in the wet. These tyres have never slipped and always feel sure footed. I could not be confident that by pating more for another brand, I would get a better product. Will buy again. Show details
Kumho Reliability – These tyres handle well on sealed and dirt roads, wet weather and dry. We purchased two full sets and will definitely keep using this tyre. I have found them to be very stable on the road and they are wearing very well. We have them on two vehicles after being happy with the initial set. Show details
Good tyres but short life span – Nice tyres that give great ride quality. I found them good in all conditions. Only drawback is their life expectancy - it's relatively short ( approx 40,000km ). Could perhaps get better life on a vehicle that isn't as heavy as my Jeep. Overall, I was pretty happy with them. Shop around for the best price as there are huge variances ( almost… Read more
double in some cases ) I found tyresales.com.au had the cheapest advertised price but K-Mart Tyre & Auto beat their price ( price beat guarantee )
Great tyres - really good – We had some terrible noisy tyres that we got from Kmart Tyres (that were expensive) and thanks goodness we got new Kumo tyres from Byford Kumo - they are so quite - love them and we have had a lot of rain here - they are doing the job brilliantly. Show details
Good value but won't last long – These tyres aren't too bad if you want to save some money and don't use your car much. I used them for about 20,000 km and they look like they would last maximum of another 20,000 km. They wear out quickly but they are cheap, so you make the decision Show details
Value for money – Bought these tyres for my GH series Mazda 6 hatch. Was a good tyre, but outer side walls started to get worn out faster rather than evenly wearing out across the tyre. Car had wheel alignment done when tyres purchased and was not the issue. Rotated them every 10,000kms. Lasted only 39,000 kms. I expected them to last at least up to 50,000kms. They… Read more
are good in the dry, but found them to slip in the wet. If they are on special/bargained down a lot and you want value for money tyre, these are ok compared to other non name brands (eg. from china, etc.). Will be sticking to the Jap brands moving forward eg. Toyo, Bridgestone, Yokohama even though they are dearer for safety and longer life. You get what you pay for.
Kumho Solus K17 – Purchased these new tyres last winter when replacing the original tyres. I have now driven over 10,000 km on these tyres and are very happy with the grip on the road and also the appear to be very durable. There is no notable wear on the tread and they still look like new. As I had a lot of kilometres on my last tyres when the new tyres has made… Read more
the car sit better on the road and believe has improved performance of car. If you are looking to purchase new tyres I would recommend Kumho brand.
Can't fault them – I bought these in winter & a few days' later they had their first test when it starting raining cats & dogs. They passed with flying colours. They've got good grip & as I got them for a good price, I'm happy with them. I've only been driving for 2 yrs, so was guided by a relative in my purchase of these and can't really compare them to other brands out there. Based on results though, I would buy this brand again. Long lasting, good grip – I have these on my Mazda. Got them for a great price. Long lasting, i feel the quality of rubber on side where they print the brand is little week nowadays, as I see deep cuts and chips. Still hold pressure and runs fine. Just an observation over the years. Show details

durable and cheap – It has been used over 6months and almost 15000km used but still looks like brand new (means quite durable). It has good handling feeling, smooth riding and no skid in rainy day at all. This is much cheaper than previous one (Continental tyres from Germen) but the satisfaction is much higher. I will buy this product again definitely. No problem at all so far. Show details
Durable and affordable tyre, what more can you ask for? – The Kumho tyres were recommended to me by my auto mechanic. I have been using them on my Mazda 3 more than a year and they are still going strong as there were no problems when getting my pink slip. Needless to say, these tyres are durable and have a good grip on all types of surfaces. They are also quite affordable compared to other brands, such Bridgestone and Michelin. Show details
Great tyres! – HAve had them on for 6 months and have not missed a beat. Got them in a deal, with one of them for free at Kmart Auto at a really good price. Very durable, driven in all types of roads and have not let me down at all. Would definitely recommend! Show details
Best tyres – 34,000 km used already and still going . Great handling and fantastic in wet weather . Just as good as my previous tyres - Yokohama A539 . Better than Falken or Bridgestone tyres . They are 225/55R16 size . Grip and durable , hard to do better than these . Show details
Great types! – We have been using Kumho for the past few years and they are great. We drive a Hyundai Accent that came with Kumho from factory and we were very impressed, specially since they lasted almost 90,000 km! We just replaced them and did some price comparison but nothing can beat the value of a Kumho tyre. Show details
Solid friend – As we had a history of using these on previous cars, we were anxious to again purchase 4 new tyres for an upcoming driving holiday. They didn't let us down with our trip on a variety of road surfaces as our reliability and comfort while driving never let us down. Show details
Handling well – Needed new tyres on my 2014 Ford Fiesta Sport and these were recommended. Nice smooth ride since switching to these. Very impressed with the tyre and the after-service offered to me by the service provider. I seem to be getting a wee bit better mileage so that's a great thing! Show details
I am quite happy with performance and price – Its great tyre for the price.Quite steady on the road, unlike other tires, I use Michelin before but it was so slippery and nearly got accident because of that tyre. Price is great, last time i bought Kumho last me 4 years till its worn out. I would choose this brand over other brands. Show details
Smashing tryers to suit your style – Great alloy wheels made a big difference on the new car strongly recommend it gave the extra touch to give the car the right final balance for it to preform better on the road for safety purpose and reliability. It also has distinguished from the other basic models and high class look Show details
Gteat quality tyre – Very durable tyre. I bought two Kumho tyres over 2 and half years ago. I've driven for 40000 kilo metres. The two kumho tyres are still looking fresh. The grip of the car on road has improved significantly after the installation of kumho tyres as well. I'm really impressed with the quality oof the brand! Show details
Best value – Used many brands on my old Ford Fairmont but the Kumho s are the best value for price, wear and sidewall strength on dirt roads. Easy to find a dealer. I even put Kumhos on my luxury car that had Michelin Primacys and so far almost as good. Actually better because I saved $400 on the set! Show details
They are cheap for a reason – Looking back, I bought these tyres because they were cheap and seemed to be getting good reviews for their handling. However, as soon as they were fitted to the car I realised that there was hardly any tread depth and that they were, in effect, half worn compared to an expensive tyre. I can not complain about the handling, but after just 10,000 km… Read more
on my 2010 Pajero they are now worn out and I am looking for new tyres. I think I with pay more and get tyres with decent tread depth from the start. By the way, the Pajero was only being used to the weekends for leisure driving and has never been used for towing. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Another great product from Kumho!! – I have found these tyres to be excellent value for money for our family car. They are at least as good as much more expensive tyres and seem to handle really well wet or dry roads. The cars performance has always been excellent - Mazda 6 Sports and these certainly add to the experience of driving. WE tend to run the tyres a little over pressure… Read more
and the wear pattern seems more even and consistent. VERY happy with these and will definitely be looking for the same when we replace them. I would recommend you do a careful price comparison and don't let the shop push you into an alternative based on their need to push a particular brand!!
