Laminex Metaline splashback product
I did a kitchen renovation in 2015 and purchased the Laminex Meraline mirror splash back. Unfortunately this product is not durable for its intended purpose. During the basic task of cleaning the product it has been scratched. The product is to soft. Basic tasks. Like cooking need to be done with care as simply banging a saucepan against the splash back whilst cooking also scratches and dents the product.
Cleaning it is an absolute nightmare. I have been in contact with Laminex and they have advised me that they will replace, but that the ...
Diamond gloss laminate
In our previous home we put in a new kitchen 14 years ago. The laminate I chose was laminex diamond gloss. The cupboards were standard laminate.
Not once in the following 12 years before selling the house did we have any problems at all with any of the laminate. It still looked as good as the day it was installed in fact the real estate agent thought the kitchen was new. The bench colour was Kashmir granite I think it was called in diamond gloss.
The cupboard colours were parchment and the drawers purvivan clay.
The company must be too big as products are inferior and double price of other suppliers.
I am a cabinet maker with over 30 years experience in designing and making Kitchens.
I recently tried to order laminate for a clients kitchen - the process took me 4 weeks being promised staff would get back to me and when they finally did after I made 8 follow up calls they have just quoted me double the price of Polytech!!
The service has been poor - no one seems to know what they are doing.
The charges are double the price for the same product - we are going to look elsewhere for our laminate now especially after reading all the reviews abov...
Don’t do it
Don’t do it. I had a diamond gloss benchtop and in the the first week I noticed scratches in it. Have fought for nearly a year. Totally exhausted with the whole process. All Laminex would do for me was to suggest I put in anew benchtop at my cost and they will take a piece away and test it themselves, if they decide it is faulty they will reimburse me.
We should have been warned.
New gloss Laminex kitchen bench tops pitted with dimples. Very disappointed! Would not have chosen if had been informed.Whose fault? Firstly cabinet maker. Had several discussions before choosing. But seems to me that the real problem is the surface quality of the solid particle board base. The Laminate board is pressure glued and would show up any depressions in the surface of the board.
Very disappointing. Not the quality I expected. Wouldn't recommend gloss finish Laminex or Formica.
I had a kitchen makeover done recently. The refaced, redesigned cabinetry is great, a huge improvement.
However, as soon as the benchtops were installed I noticed dimples in the gloss finish which looked damaged or of poor quality. When I questioned this I was told 'they all look like that'. A rep visited and looked at them, and told me the benchtops were '100% normal' but also suggested I should have chosen a matte finish on the mid grey colour so any 'imperfections' or scratches would be less likely to show up. If this is a known '100% norm...
Freestyle stone benchtop
After buying our beautiful home, including Laminex freestyle benchtops installed in my kitchen, for no apparent reason, overnight I woke up to a large crack from the corner of the stovetop extending to the edge of the bench. Believing I had a 15 year warranty, I wasn’t concerned until I was informed by Laminex Group that they had rejected my claim based on the fact that I was not the original home owner and the warranty is not transferrable. So effectively, that means once the building has been sold, the warranty means nothing! No matter how ...old the product is! I experienced nothing short of terrible service, discusting follow up, being handballed to one manager to another and extremely unprofessional and arrogant on many levels that is beyond belief. Never again would I ever use their products as they do not stand by the quality of their product, looking for the fine print to absolve themselves of any responsibility. Oh and did I mention it took them almost 12 months to come to a decision of final rejection, after inspections, phone calls, emails, face to face meetings etc!!! Laminex used to be a good company to deal with, unsure what has happened??
We ordered 2 benchtops over 2 months ago. After waiting 3 weeks, they explained the order was lost. They refused to fast track a replacement order and now after waiting another 3 weeks they have delivered the wrong size and wrong colour benchtops. Now the sales rep won't return our emails and head office has still done nothing about resolving the issue. Great looking website but a useless company behind the glossy advertising.
Laminex diamond gloss bench tops!!
I had my kitchen replaced in Dec 2016, after saving forever and convincing the husband!! I love being in the kitchen cooking and was after an easy clean, usable kitchen. This is not what I got. I too went with diamond gloss tops they are TERRIBLE!! I only have to look at them and they scratch, I couldn't be more careful. I am continually wiping with micro fibre cloths and windex as instructed by the kitchen people. It's a pain in the neck they show every scratch hand print and smear!! Would never recommend to anyone. Very disappointed.
Laminex Diamond Gloss Benchtops
I purchased a Diamond Gloss Laminex benchtop from kitchen place in July 2916. It has scratched terribly even though the brochure says it is scratch resistant and has a 7 year warranty. The kitchen place sent the Laminex rep out and they have refused to cover under warranty as they say I had abused and misused the bench top when in fact I treat it with kid gloves only using dishwasher cleaner and soft cloths to clean. Also I used 2 breadboards. mats and a pivot for saucepans and this is called misuse and abuse. I rang Fair Trading and they adv...ised the kitchen supplier was responsible, but they say as Laminex wont cover under warranty it is not their problem. Very dissatisfied with paying extra for a supposedly better quality product that is looking disgusting in less than 12 months. I have done a few Renovations over my 65 years and this us by far the worst product I have ever used. My advice to anyone considering using a Laminex product to think twice as their advertising is misleading on this product.
Fading Bench top
When I first decided to replace my bench tops in the kitchen, I went to Laminex at the Sunshine Coast. I had a look at the different products on offer. I was pointed in the direction of the diamond gloss as it looked nice and looked like a granite bench top, nice and shiny. The sale person did tell me that the diamond gloss was not for external use. Anyway, I had my bench tops made. Not by Laminex, but another cabinet maker. After about 18 months I noticed that the area behind the sink had started to discolour and start to go a different shade ...(green instead of brown). I went to laminex and explained to them what had happened. They sent out a Rep from the company. She had a look at the faded area behind the sink and told me that it wouldn't be covered as there was a window behind the sink and it was not to be used near windows as it fades from the sunlight. This may have been useful information at the time of deciding to go with this product. I told her that most kitchens would have a window in them, and that the bench top only received direct sunlight in winter and then only for about 6 hours a day. This window also has a blind that is down most of the time. I told her that her company had told me about not using the product outdoors. But as far as they were concerned the area was subject to sunlight whether indoors or not and not subject to any warranty claim. This product was purchased around 5 years ago and I contacted them around 18 months after the tops were fitted. The bench top has only gotten worse in this area over the years. So if anyone is considering putting this product (DIAMOND GLOSS by LAMINEX) in there house and you have windows nearby DON'T.
Laminex competence in question
I ordered a laminated MDF board from Laminex for renovation in a caravan. Laminated on two sides and along three edges with a 10 mm corner. The board produced was warped and the corner was 20 mm radius. The local supplier in Fyshwick, ACT arranged for a corrected order. The board then produced was not laminated on any edge, although they had done the corner correctly this time...and the board was flat! The local store arranged for the edges to be laminated but the local businesses in Canberra were unable to laminate the new corner and instead I...had to go with a hard plastic edging, not what I paid for. There was no recompense. Betting on that they could not be as incompetent a second time, I ordered a three-part table top, with one piece having two styled "soft radius" corners as they showed on their layout sheet (20 mm radius one side by 60 mm radius the other). The table top delivered had two rounded corners of 30 mm radius!!! What gross incompetence. Either the manufacturers are illiterate or simply don't give a damn. This time the Fyshwick depot gave back $62 and I took the table top as provided, as I did not believe they could produce what was ordered. My advice is to give the company a big miss and seek other cabinet makers or manufacturers for such products.
Questions & Answers
After reading all these comments I have absolute no confidence in this company. I was considering using the Absolute range for kitchen cupboards. Has anyone any experience with this product?
I have Absolutematt White in the kitchen and laundry of my new house. It doesn't matter what tinted/clear window/light/tile/paint/bench /night or day it is PALE GREEN .
I now will have to go with a green colour scheme throughout the WHOLE house which will fight with the carpet I have chosen.
The rep did come to the house but his visit hasn't changed the colour. I am so disappointed as I am a Pisces/blue person currently trapped in a green kitchen where I presently live.
At 71 years of age this was to be my dream house !!!!! Utterley devestated.
I am thinking of Diamond Gloss Laminex Benchtops but after reading some reviews I am now re-thinking, has anyone had good luck with their Diamond Glass Benchtops or do they all have a problem?
Sher, if you are thinking of using the diamond gloss, don't use it near windows that have sunlight as it will fade and discolor. I have used it in my bathroom and that was fine, but the glass is setina glass and doesn't get direct sunlight. Don't believe what they say about it won't scratch because it does.
Don't use it .It is not the product Laminex advertise. It takes a lot of work to keep it looking good and it is definitely not scratch resistant as they advertise. There are much better alternatives.
