We had our kitchen built with the Ultra Matte fingerprint resistant laminate. I had high hopes for this premium priced product, however it seems to show the lightest fingerprints and requires vigorous and frequent cleaning to maintain the appearance. I am disappointed and would not recommend the product.

We had a Laminex kitchen installed Nov 2025 we did bench tops and cupboards. Within weeks of the install the product started to show bubbling we contacted the installer said we have to do a warranty claim!!!!!!! ( I do not believe we should of HAD to fill in a warranty as the product WAS not as promised therefore its on Laminex not us, but… Read more

anyway). The warranty was sent and then we noticed more issues re fading and really bad marks showing up with no matter how much we cover the tops or put boards down the top just seems to be marking badly with shiny spots and colour fade spots etc Keep in mind this kitchen is only weeks old ! THIS IS A BLOODY nightmare and LAMINEX HAVE NOT BOTHERED AFTER MONTHS TO DO A THING ABOUT IT!!!!!!! It is going to be us taking them to court to recoup the cost of the kitchen which I am prepared to do as they have no regard to making sure what we were supplied lives up to THEIR PROMISE. My suggestion would be steer very clear and look at other choices or you may end up like us with an absolute mess, SO DISAPPOINTED BUT WILL NOT LET THIS REST

Plenty of research done and glad we went with Laminex. Looked into many brands of fingerprint-resistant board and decided on Laminex AbsoluteMatte in black. Three years down the line in an all-black and heavily used kitchen, and it still looks great. I think perhaps other reviewers think they bought a product that never needs to be cleaned, but a quick spot clean with windex and a microfibre every week or so brings it back to brand new.

Our cabinetmaker just finished our kitchen in Laminex Black - AbsoluteMatte. We are so disappointed in the product. It is so sensitive and leaves marks very quickly and on top it is a very expensive product. I wish I would have checked the reviews first before we decided to go ahead with the product! We thought we are getting a very good product… Read more

I strongly recommend to everyone do not buy this overpriced material, it’s not worth it!

Laminex Diamond Gloss and Kitchens Galore – We had Laminex Diamond Gloss benchtops installed in our new kitchen. One section was installed with an insect embedded in it. A second section was covered in fine scratches within a week and has odd looking "crimp" type marks along the edge. We have been on an 18 month battle trying to get the benchtops replaced, to no avail. Laminex blame… Read more

Laminex poor quality products – Our Near new Kitchen laminate benchtop is sadly a very poor quality,it is riddled with scratches, fading, and lines on the surface that are easily viewable, when we approached our Kitchen Builder he advised us that a Laminex Representative would contact us to arrange an inspection, but Laminex declined to send the said represenative as she was way to… Read more

busy to do so.The laminex Representative requested us to send her pictures of issues with their Laminate. We are not professional photographers and did the best we could, but Laminex had their “technical team” look at our pictures and said that their laminate benchtop was in perfect condition when sent to our Kitchen Builder.Laminex tried to blame us for every fault and then told us our Kitchen must be in direct sunlight causing the fading, only thing is we have a huge rear patio our kitchen window overlooks so direct sunlight is not a contributing factor. We never cut meat or vegetable's directly on the laminate rather we use cutting boards so that is not a contributing factor. We will never ever use any Laminex Industries Products again and would advise everyone considering such a product to be very aware of how Laminex handles these issues,a total disgrace all beware

We had a kitchen movable centre bench manufactured by Laminex and supplied in early March 2024 with a Black Marble Natural finish Laminex top. The top did not appear to show any problems for quite a while but mid December 2025 we had been seeing the… Read more

marks for a while so we contacted the cabinetmaker who supplied it and he came to our house to inspect the bench top and confirmed he could see what appears to be a demarcation line running the middle of the bench and virtually the full length. Laminex could not be bothered to send a rep to inspect the top and so we sent through some pictures of the bench showing the fault as best possible. Laminex contacted our cabinetmaker with a letter which read similar to : Good afternoon and thanks for the feedback on the p q Laminex bench top. We read the “report” and could instantly see the R’s covering going on with so much rubbish. It’s a lot like “we acknowledge there’s a problem and it was nothing YOU did but OUR product could not possibly be faulty.” Laminex offered to “test it” using a destructive test mode -wow --- REALLY?!?!?! A copy of the letter is available. We have owned 5 houses and the last one had virtually 4 kitchens installed and 2 of the previous kitchen benches were 3-4 m long in a similar colour with 15-16 years trouble-free use and service. MAYBE they were a NOT a LAMINEX brand?? Or There are marks evident from where a tomato squirted and was wiped up immediately plus a mark where a mug had rested on a placemat plus other marks. We only use a soapy cloth and only sometimes Windex as stipulated best to clean Laminex. The kitchen and benches are virtually only used by 2 older Australians who are very careful with hot or abrasive products near a “plastic type” surface. Only minimum food preparation happens on the new bench with the faulty laminate as most is done on the main kitchen bench.

Follow-up  · The cabinetmaker had never seen this before and had only cleaning suggestions which did not change the look of the bench top. No.- Laminex did not offer any fix suggestions or refunds etc. They sent the obligatory "we'd like more information and could I send a copy" which I sent but of course nothing more happened , We decided to have our new… Read more

Misleading marketing and horrible customer service! – We spent tens of thousands of dollars on the AbsoluteMatte range throughout our entire home, including a very large kitchen and walk in pantry. We’ve had numerous issues and once… Read more

Laminex finally agreed to replace two of our draw panels “out of good will” (this was to avoid admitting fault and taking any accountability), they’ve come with a significant colour variation and now look worse than the initial damaged panels. Hoping Laminex will take some accountability and resolve this.

Heads-up concerning Hi-MACS Bench tops – I had HI-MACS acrylic bench tops installed because of their, appearance functionality and terrific 10 year warranty. Laminex apparently bought out this business, and as a result will not honour the warrent even within the stated time- frame on my paper work.. Before being flately refused to repair my bench when it did crack, they proceeded with the most extensive and rediculous run-around. So disappointing from the large, profitable company.

Terrible product and the worst customer service – We built our house five years ago, and the pantry doors have cracked. They are vinyl wrapped. Spoke to my builder almost six months ago now…. told me to contact Laminex, rep came out three months later. Laminex form wrap is not good – I used what to thought, and was told by my builder, was a premium product in my kitchen. Turns out to not be so. not only had no record of previous issues but who would also not assist saying we had to work with builder. They provided no details on how to access the warranty. Builder didn’t have any luck with them either. This went on with a few more visits and no resolution. Eventually, with the help of google I contacted Laminex head office. But was told that my kitchen was now out of warranty and they had no record of any of my previous issues or earlier complaints so they would not assist. I continued with my complaint over the next few months and was eventually offered replacements at “discounted”. I decided that I could not afford to spend any more money on my kitchen and at the moment have my doors taped up as the wrap has fallen off. The customer service at head office was courteous despite an acceptable agreement not being reached. A costly mistake that I will never again make.

Laminex Kitchen cabinets turning yellow! – Don't use Laminex for your cabinets. Our vinyl wrapped cabinets have started turning yellow which is slowly getting worse, and looks disgusting! Laminex won't help and say that it is caused by "UV discoloration" - but this isn't true because all our windows are laminated.

Dreadful quality and service! – As a designer, I don't usually write bad reviews. But this time my experience is bad enough that I have to write about it. copy but with a higher margin for Laminex branded colours. This did not resonate well with me or my client at all and ended up replacing a lot of the decors from competition that had better quality at much lower prices. The reason I didn't even want to use Laminex in the first place is that their products are known for chipping around edges and corners. I've also been to a couple of their events before the pandemic hit and all they do is use design lingo to hopefully translate that to sales. I am so over them honestly.

Absolute Matt in black – Everything they tell you about this product being mark resistant is a lie. Every single thing marks it and then it is IMPOSSIBLE to clean. Absolute rubbish product, as is their attitude to customer – Installed new kitchen using Laminex Finished Timber Veneer in 2015, and have had a number of stains appear in the past 12 months that do not come out even when cleaned immediately in line with the Laminex instructions. counter any of their arguments with actual fact I am brushed off with the same rhetoric to follow cleaning instructions. They even sent one of their staff out to inspect and clean themselves, when this didn't work they were not interested. Unfortunately this is the norm with this company and the warranty provided is not worth the paper it is written on. Save yourself a lot of stress and frustration and go with a POLYTEC product. This is part of the most recent response from Laminex after I again questioned the product being "fit for purpose" -

As you may be aware, several commonly available materials such as low pressure melamine (LPM), painted panels (usually acrylic or 2 pack polyurethane), thermoformed vinyl, timber veneers and timber are frequently used in domestic Australian kitchens for vertical applications such as doors and drawers. None of these materials are stain proof, and all of these materials can be permanently stained by accidental spills. Our range of Finished Timber Veneers were made with a surface treatment process to improve the stain resistance of the materials relative to genuine timber and timber veneers. However, even with the surface treatment, the Finished Timber Veneers products are not stain proof, and will stain depending on various factors including the temperature, time of exposure and type of staining agent.

.... and yet they still sell these products for kitchens?!!!!!!
