By far the worst vehicle I have ever owned, literally fell apart, both turbos died, oil leak in the engine bay, the doors had a malfunction and the car alarm would constantly go off, the engine also would over heat if I towed anything that weighed more than 500kg . And if that wasn’t enough I only hand washed the car and one day I was gently… Read more
washing the Range Rover sign at the front and one of the letters fell off !!! Also the back side panel above the small rear window started coming off, I’m not joking when I say the vehicle was falling apart ! But wait there’s more! Water got inside the front headlights another 7k to fix those too !!
It was the car of my dreams and it turned into a nightmare, the car was 3 years old with 45,000 on the clock so practically new, and spent months at the mechanics and they wouldn’t even give me a loan car, what a joke, i finally sold the vehicle at a massive loss even though I fixed all the issues . When I asked the Land Rover dealership if I could trade it in for a second hand car in their lot which wasn’t a Land Rover they refused to take their own vehicle back!! lol Do yourself a favour buy any car but Land Rover worst experience of my life!

DO NOT BUY A Range Rover, Jaguar or Land Rover! – I am an idiot, buy a Range Rover and you are too. Long since a teenager did I covet a Rangie. This Review could literally go on for pages and it might surprise you why. The Vechicle drives like an armchair, quiet comfortable smooth BUT if something/anything goes wrong your on your own despite the warranty offers etc. As many have said in the… Read more
other reviews here the Customer Service is dreadful and that’s being nice. We call them NCS! (No-Service Costumer) division, yes it’s that bad.
Some highlights
- Apple CarPlay does not work effectively, it drops out mid call almost daily. Great for business calls! - Our car was towed twice in the first month and in for repairs for 3 out of the first 5 months we owned it. - While at the dealer they took the car ‘joy riding’ home at night and nearly doubled the KLM’s on the clock while also damaging a tyre and denting the front spoiler (both repaired). - Coolant leaks and Electrical faults in the first months - Faulty fan and Rear shock pump. - Jaguar Range Rover offered $3000 in compensation?
Stay away from anything Jaguar, Land Rover or Range Rover!
Comfortable, great performance and economy. Brilliant vehicle – 2015 SDV6, done 127,000 kms mainly commuting in the Perth area but some longer trip up north, for which I purchased all terrain tyres. Purchased new (demo) and always been serviced by Land Rover dealer in Perth. All I have really spent is tyres. Had a slight clunking noise when pulling away from a stand still which turned out to be the diff oil… Read more
needing changing which was a little weird but has been totally reliable and economical with great performance from the twin turbo V6 diesel. This is the third Range Rover sport I have owned and I have never had any real problems to speak of.
Fantastic car - worth every cent – Bought new in aug 19 from ULR. Has feen faultless. Service was included, and that has been superb and has not cost me one dollar. It handles really well on and off road. Show details
Not fit for purpose – I am driving a Range Rover Sport HSE SDV8. Original purchase price of $182,000 and has done less than 40,000 KM. Within the last 12 months it has been towed 4 times and is clearly a faulty and not fit for purpose vehicle. Unfortunately you cannot trust this brand or their promise of excellence. Show details
No warranty service – Do not buy from them! Read all reviews and issues these cars have! Spent $200.000.00 on a new range rover and have an issue within the warranty period with only 40,000.00 kilometres on the vehicle and the owner or anyone else does not care! Head office leaves it up to the dealer who ignores you and head office! Show details
Engine failure within 6 years (hasn’t reached 40000 klms) – I bought my car (Range Rover sports) in December 2015 from Range Rover dealer Adelaide. The last service I did for my car was at the end of 2018 with Adelaide Land Rover dealer. And the next schedule service for my car should be either at the end of 2019 or when the car has reached 52000kms, which is advised by the dealer. However I noticed… Read more
really terrible knocking sound from my engine this week (19/10/2021) when the car reached 39939 Kms. Then I took the car to Land Rover dealer in Parramatta NSW and asked them to check the issue of the engine. They advised the engine is not working properly and I may need to pay the big replacing charge myself since my car is out of 3 years warranty.
Blown engine – I drive conservatively and although I was 4 months past my service, due to lockdown, my engine blew and needs replacing. I bough it new. And am being quoted circa $30k. It’s almost exactly 5 years old. Bought brand new. Has anyone had this problem? And if so, we’re you able to negotiate anything with Land Rover? I’m devastated this has happened. I loved my car and cannot believe this has happened after only 5 years. Thanks all Show details
Don't buy one – These vehicles are not safe dispute what the sales guy and your girlfriends at school drop off tell you. The way Land Rover have dealt with diesel emission on Range Rover sport is by the vehicle slowing to 20km per hour once there black box needs cleaning. You get no warning it's going to happen, nothing you just slow. It has happened to my wife… Read more
several times on the freeway then the car has to be towed to the dealership in port Melbourne then you get charged $650 for the pleasure. Land Rovers response from the manager "you purchased the wrong vehicle" After owning 8 range rovers this is our last.
Excellent drive, faultless – Ex land rover display car, bought with 16k km , now with 40k km, has not missed a beat. Mainly some short commutes and longer weekend drives. Excellent tow car; had a 2t caravan that it towed as if the van wasn't there. Brilliant drive whatever the surface. Show details
2018 Sport. It died in my driveway, haven't seen it for over 2 months now and no phone calls – Commuting on the freeway and visiting clients. I bought it because it should be safe Twice a week. Never socially and seldom at weekends Serviced to manufacturers requirements as per the handbook Show details
What a mistake a Range Rover was – I brought the top of the range Range Rover sport autobiography and I had nothing but trouble with the car from day one, screeching metal on metal sound so loud it hurt my ears when driving slow, it was a total embarrassment. I took it in for the complaint 3 times to be told there was no problem, as soon as the warranty ran out the whole front… Read more
drivers side suspension destroyed itself, I had to fight to have it covered u der warranty a week after it ran out. Service team are rude and useless and make a complaint to head office you get a sorry better luck next time.
WHY I WOULD NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER RANGE ROVER SPORT – I have issue after issue with my problem Range Rover which I purchased new 2.5 years ago and has only travelled 52000 km. Including: * Faulty Electronic Dash - This used to go blank so I had to stop the car, turn off, lockthe doors so it would reset and the dash would come back on. * Gearbox shuttered bad when turning. * Electronic park brake… Read more
lever come out of it socket so didn't work.
* Been into service department several times for faulty airbags.
* Rear passenger grab handle on the roof pulled out of the socket. Seems like small issue but could have taken an eye out. This should be a safety recall issue on all Range Rovers.
All of the above items have been agreed to be repaired under warranty although the grab handle took several arguments with Land Rover as they said it was a wear issue and is still waiting to be repaired.
* The carpet has started splitting on the side wall off the drivers side console. Land Rover / Jaguar Australia and Bruce Lynton Southport have said this is wear and tear. The carpet is like brand new with NO WEAR just a TEAR. Land Rover / Jaguar Australia have refused to cover this under warranty.
* Currently the service symbol comes on when you first start the car. I told Chris from Bruce Lynton about this issue 3 weeks ago but still waiting for a call when they can fit me in.
The quality of my Range Rover has been appauling. You would expect when you are paying a lot of money for a luxury car you would get quality but unfortunately not with my Range Rover.
Being such a new Range Rover and having So Many Issues I shutter to think what else is going to fail in the furture.

Worst car and woeful service – Purchased the vehicle 6 months ago. Has been okay until a bout of heavy rain recently which entirely flooded the car internally. Found battery submerged under water. Car wouldn’t start and all electrics fried. Not only is car a lemon but Land Rover service is appalling. Have been on a wait list for 6 days for a replacement vehicle. No one has… Read more
contacted us about the car, we’ve had to call them everyday and they are now asserting it is not a ‘major’ fault and we are therefore stuck with the car which they will attempt to repair. Don’t worry that there is already rust all inside the car or that we have friends with a brand new Discovery which has been into Land Rover four times already to try to repair water leakages! Worst car ever and wasn’t cheap either!
Range Rover Built for Royalty – Great car fit for Royalty literally lol very comfortable and very well built customer service is impeccable they could not do enough for us i would not buy one with big klm's or out of warranty for obvious reasons if something goes wrong its going to be expensive it is an expensive car.I would highly recommend a RRSport as a family car and yes every car/suv has problems that's life deal with it. Range Rover Sport is a lemon – I only drive moderately and car is only used lightly not to its full capacity. I have had problems since buying the car and today was quoted $2400 for a gearbox module replacement and my car warranty just finished in April. I cannot believe I paid so much for a Range Rover which is causing me problems within the 3 years. Customer service at… Read more
Trivett Parramatta is crap. I also called customer relations and Adam spoke to me as if I was a child and said cars can start having problems as soon as they leave the dealer.
If you have the extravagant amount to buy a Range Rover please don't, go spend your money on a car that is worth it. I will be looking into my rights as my car is only 3 years old and I cannot justify this amount for a problem that is not caused by myself, it is a manufacturers fault but they are not accepting this.
Land Rover you are not delivering on what you promised.
Great car - you pay for what you get I suppose – Just got this car end of Aug as it had to be ordered. My last car was an older version of the Range Rover Sport 2013 model. I use it everyday for everyday travel - I have yet to take it off road. I have used it for country driving and towing a trailer with kayaks as well but have not gone fully off road with it yet - planning to try the Range… Read more
Rover experience.
Fantastic smooth drive. Excellent extra features (paid of course) - driver assist, parking sensors etc
Engine turns off when you come to complete stop and starts up again pretty quickly (like to know I am saving fuel & the environment while waiting at red lights. The parking sensors lag a bit which is annoying I haven't had time to get that checked yet.
It is a very expensive car and its annoying you have to pay for extras like the attachment for tow bar, then have to pay extra for the towbar itself (another $250). For a $170K car you think they could throw that in considering you've paid for the attachment.
Customer service ok considering how much you pay for their cars I would expect better. Lexus customer service is better.
Worst car i have ever purchased – I purchased this car as a new family car to replace our 2010 Toyota landcruiser Prado 3.0 diesel. We were looking for something of a similar size with a bit more luxury and comfort. After purchasing the range rover I put my prado on the market to hopefully hold out for a good price. Aproximately 3 weeks after buying the range rover the problems… Read more
started, first of all the aircon compressor failed which had to be replace, problems with the electrics in the seats failing, followed by steering clunking noises. This vehicle didn't exactly fill me with confidence after quite a few thousand already spent on repairs so soon after buying.
My wife and I decided to sell on the range rover and keep the prado as we bought it new in 2010 and can genuinely say we have had zero issues with it whatsoever, apart from the usual wear and tear items that any car needs. Il take Toyota reliability anyday over the range rover. After a bad experience with the range rover we are quite happy to settle for less comfort and luxury for the sake of reliability and hassle free motoring, especially when we are out in the middle of nowhere, at least we know our prado will get us there.
It goes wrong after warranty expires – The 2014 SE Diesel is a great car although I'm disappointed with a few things - The Range Rover name has tarnished on the bonnet. The airbag warning light remains on and according to Landrover needs a new harness at $900! How does a harness fail? It's never been off road yet it has a suspension fault that requires another $2,600 to be spent! Seems… Read more
as though the electronic suspension is frail. All happened just after warranty with 75,000kms on the clock. No help from Landrover. It is galling that a $130k vehicle that is less than 4 years old is already failing. Perhaps the Range Rover reliability is not fixed on the new model. Never had a problem on the old Pajero!
Great Car, Fantastic Drive – Perfection - the car drive is fantastic and the car is faultless. Although the base price is quite basic, we upgraded a number of items. Having come from a Mercedes C Class, there were a number of items i found missing or upgrades, however overall we are extremely happy with this vehicle and we will be sure to look in again for our next car also Show details
ok but a few things – Previously had the supercharged Sport. Nice to drive but the music system is so bad, its tinny and the whole car shakes, the seat movement button is down the left hand side so cannot be reached when driving and the door needs to be open to move the seat.. The music system definitely lets this car down that's for sure. Show details
3rd one and still excellent - 4th on way – Since my first review in 2012, I have had 2 more RR Sports. The latest is a V8 Petrol non supercharged, my favourite, awesome engine. I bought used it has been brilliant, very fast and comfortable. We have taken numerous long trips in it and it has behaved superbly, totally reliable. All 3 of my Sports have been 100%. I have a new V8… Read more
Supercharged coming soon. I am looking forward to the new model and the new supercharged V8.
UPDATE: I have had the Supercharged V8 for 11 months and 8000 km / 5000 miles. It was a very expensive car. It has had numerous small niggling problems and been in the workshop too many times and for too long. I think one can see from the above reviews that I have been a long term loyal Land Rover customer. I have just traded my 11 month old car at a huge loss as I don’t need the trouble. That’s it for good, I am going back to a German brand and I will never buy another Land Rover product.

Worst experience - don't be fooled by the facade – Thank you for the offer, however, I'm not accepting a 2 month lease payment offer. This was not what I bought or paid for to have ongoing issues that are minor, however, not ever resolved and still not resolved. Insultingly, without being unfair and being the victim of a nightmare, driven from a dream car. Expectations and standards on a… Read more
vehicle at this price point and prestige quality, has been proven wrong!
If you are looking for my best interest, you'd replace my vehicle completely and give me what I've paid for.
I purchased the vehicle 13th may 2016 brand new and waited 4 months for my custom vehicle. What a shame that following a month in June I sent it back for this very issue in 2016. Patiently now being 1year and 2 months, my vehicle has been in my driveway a total of this duration, 8months... With this now being the 11th time and still no success! I don't feel safe and happy at all.
This car has caused severe health issues, problems in my relationship, warnings at my job and loss of money from time off, all the issues that are unnecessary to my life when all I wanted is to be satisfied from the day I purchased this $150k vehicle.
Not to mention all the unresolved issues from southern classic liaising with Land Rover Australia with 4 or 5 case numbers and always having the same response that you assure its finally fixed, then a month later, issue comes back.
What about my insurance payments, the wear and tear of my tyres, the 10000 km run up on my vehicle, loss of wages, my 6 months of not having my vehicle due to you failing to fix the issue permanently, my rego, my green slip?
You never factored anything and you have done no favours with providing vehicles to drive as its a given for the unsatisfactory workmanship! You've never given me a Range Rover to drive either, it's always been a much less standard vehicle.
I want a replacement vehicle and I will not be happy until I get what I paid for. I've been paying for a vehicle for your dealerships to drive and wear on my expense!
Please don't have head office insult my purchase! I will go through fair trading and I'm in communication with current affairs.
February 15th 2018 Update: Still hopeless
Hi all, I just wanted to inform you that my car is being held with tape so that my external parts don't fall off. Land rover Australia has failed to help me with my car. They say they will fix items as good will - but why do I have to go through this when I spent $155k on a prestige vehicle when all it's done is fail me from day one.
Land Rover Australia repeat themselves when you have multiple issues and they say they need to diagnose the car and inspect when you've already taken the damn car back 13 times in 13 months.
Please don't be fooled by the looks. Range Rover sports, the evogues and the discovery have constant issues and will fail you.
Excellent – Brilliant to drive and very economical fuel consumption. I have TV6 SE but the level of standard equipment are down side.. unless you get SV6 HSE. But it is very nice car. quiet engine, love it so far.. no problem to date. it has done 16,000kms and we love it.. Show details
Great car bur – Geart car can not fault the driving experience except perhaps the gear lever which is weirdly less intuitive than the dial shift on other land rovers. However the infotainment system is awful in control apps is pointless please Land Rover stop it. Let us have apple and android systems like volvo has, then concentrate on the rest, I won't buy another if this is stilll the same when I need to update. Show details
Never never never buy Range Rover again – My advice not to buy Range Rover , I paid $260,000 for my car , six weeks in service and still not fix , bad service , rud no respect, they gave me replacement car that have riped sits and doesn't function properly, they promised me better car put never fulfilled their promise, they stoped answering my call or reply to my emails , I was big fan of… Read more
Range Rover but I will never never buy one again and when and if my car get fixed I will sell it and never buy one , very very very disappointed .
Must Have! – Over the moon with this purchase. After testing a lot of comparable cars in size, engine, and price we knew it had to be the Range Rover. Comfort is awesome, offers a good level of customisation from the dealer and is affordable to own and run. Outclasses it's competitors and love the onroad presence. Show details
Worst car experience i have ever had, i will never buy a Land Rover or Jaguar again!! – It brings a smile to my face that after only one year I have sold my 2016 Range Rover Sport at a large financial loss. The entire experience of buying and owning a Range Rover was an awful one! The buying experience at Concord Land Rover from the start was poor, the product knowledge, communication, and overall experience was poor, without my… Read more
querying something I almost ended up with a full red interior as the sales team didn't know their product. Every item in a Range Rover seemed to be an option, so you start out with a price that you will well exceed if you want items that are standard features on its competitors.
The car itself.... It looked and rode well, that's where I stop with the positives. The issues i had;
1.) From day one brakes will squeal like you haven't serviced the car in years. This is a known issue with them, but will still take you 5 attempts to resolve by Range Rover Australia putting the upgraded brakes on it.
2.) The car would switch off for no reason while at lights, not the engine management switch off, but completely switch off, requiring you to restart and select gear to get the car moving. This was raised on multiple occasions to Concord Land Rover (while dropping off each time with my brake complaints). Always with the response that "it wasn't able to be replicated", until I raised this on Twitter to Land Rover Australia, was not appropriately addressed in my view, though when googling this you will see my vehicle was not the only one to experience.. Since then, it spent 6 weeks with the dealer where they have apparently found an issue relating to the exhaust system causing the shutdown.
3.)The bonnet has a sensor which when it rains could show the bonnet is open, this then won't allow you to lock the car, at 11pm after a long work day isn't a great experience to deal with.
4.)They sell the car with their TMC system which is their map and traffic management system to give you optimum routes and ETA's, what they don't tell you is the maps are static in Australia and take no live feeds. When asked about this, I continually got no response from Land Rover. Though it's standard on all its competitors vehicles, they don't have any plans to change this. You will be surprised how annoying this can be when you have had it previously!
I grew up loving Range Rovers and Jags, now after buying a $160k+ Range Rover and selling exactly one year later at a huge loss, I can honestly say, I would never ever buy one again and i will do what i can to warn people of the issues that come along with them.
An Excellent Vehicle........ BUT! – When I first purchased the SE SDV6 Range Rover in Dec 2015 I thought I had stepped up a notch from my BMW X5 3L Diesel. The fact is that I am no longer sure of this belief. The Range Rover is a nice car of that I have no doubt; however with the few options I had installed, the bottom line purchase cost of the car was $128k. This was considerably… Read more
dearer than the new BMW X5 and marginally dearer than the Merc 350 GL. The car drives nice and is very comfortable. The ride is without a doubt one of the best I have experienced, however that is where the plus ends. The car lacks a lot of the extra's found standard in the Merc and the BMW. Whilst many of the extra's I refer to are available in the Range Rover they come as extra's with a hefty price tag, which would have made the overall cost of the vehicle uncompetative. That said I chose the Range Rover for its comfort and the fact that the wife felt more comfortable driving it. She could hardly see over the steering wheel of the Merc (which she called a truck) and the BMW had poor comfort and road noise in comparison because of run flat tyres. I wanted a vehicle that could comfortably pull our 24ft Crusader Caravan. The BMW had done this with comparative ease but sluggish to respond especially whilst climbing. The Range Rover with twin turbos was and is quicker to respond and overall handles a little better in my opinion. The big.... no ....MASSIVE.... let down, is the vehicles cruise control. It controls absolutely nothing. If you run over anything larger than a matchstick it will pick up speed and not come back Traveling through the many tunnels we have in Brisbane you dare not use the cruise control as the speed limits are monitored by camera all throughout the system and the mild up and down nature of the road has the car moving from a set 80kph to over 100kph within a few hundred meters of entering the tunnel. I had not been booked for speeding since I was a young fellow in my early 20's; I am now 69; however since I have purchased the Range Rover I have been booked twice and both times whilst on cruise control. Needless to say I no longer use cruise control and this is a big minus for someone who does long distances towing a caravan. Prior to purchasing the car I asked if the vehicle had cruise control as this was a critical point for me. The BMW had an excellent cruise control as has the Merc. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give the Range Rover - 5. Pathetic to not strong enough a word to describe it. The designers would have been better off with a hand throttle. It is so disappointing when you buy a car that is purported to be one of the best in class and you get this compromise almost as an after thought just tossed in to make do. Not Good enough. My first Range Rover will be my last if this is not remedied. Another minor point but worth mentioning, every other cat I have purchased for as long as I can remember gave the first service for free or just the cost of the oil. My first service in the Range Rover was almost $1000. Not Happy Jan !
Should have kept the old one – I was really looking forward to my new RRS TDV8 having already owned 2 RRS. After shelling out a very large amount I wish I had kept my old one. Not that it is bad, it is just that it is no better than the old one in most ways and not as good in others. It handles better but doesn't take the bigger bumps nearly as well. The driving position is… Read more
nowhere near as good, with visibility poor and the armrests in the wrong place for that wonderful comfort the old one had. The space inside is not as good despite being bigger externally and unlike the old ones there are no areas to stash the inevitable emergency Parker, hat, 1st aid kit, fire extinguisher etc. to make matters worse the spare is under the floor and the seat back just tips forward like a $25K wagon with the leather exposed to damage. Not a bad car but nowhere near the step up I expected from a brand new model. Not designed by practical people but stylists. Only good points, looks a bit like the Evoque, handles and sits on the road very well and some of the extras like lane departure, speed limiter, (but not their pathetic radar cruise control) are great. Oh and their satnav is terrible not knowing quite a few roads that have been in place for years! If you have the older model, do yourself a favour and keep it!
Unbelievably Good The Best – This is our 4th Sport and the best so far. Excellent resale and the most comfortable ,competent vehicle on the road. The new model brings more power and unbelievable fuel economy. This vehicle is the real hing of the road bar none. More Range Rover & more Sport – After 3 years with my lovely Discovery 4, circumstances conspired to enable me to buy my dream car, a Range Rover. In the end I bought the new Sport after driving both and enjoying the Sport's tighter, more up-together driving dynamics. But before making a final decision I checked out the X5 and the Porsche Cayenne. So why the Sport? It's… Read more · 1
drive-ability is probably 90% of the Cayenne but with its nicer ride I think it will make a better cruiser. Its off-road capability is pretty impressive although perhaps not quite as rugged as the Discovery. It is beautifully built and oh so luxurious although the big Rangie probably has the edge. Technology can't quite match the BMW - what it does is terrific but the way it does it is clumsy. So you have a car that looks beautiful, has a great engine and silky smooth, quiet drive but in some ways isn't quite as good as its rivals.
The thing is that some cars do some things better than the Sport but none of them do as many things so well. Looks gorgeous; super engine and silky smooth transmission; limousine standard interior design and fittings Still trying to get the Homelink system to work; touch screen does great things but is clumsy to operate
